8. Product usage
Power connection
First of all, check whether the SD memory card is inserted into the main body, and then
start the engine with power connected. (Maintain the power button ON)
- While the car is being booted, the version mark is displayed on the segment window after
power supply, and the clock mark changes on the segment window after completion of
initialization.
Recording during parking
1. The parking mode change supports two methods such as manual and auto.
Manual: Pressing the emergency recording button for more than 2 seconds makes the
buzzer sound go off 2 times, and flashing a word “Par”on the segment window changes
into a parking mode.
Auto: Checking “automatic conversion into a parking mode” in the user environment
setting flashes a word “Par” automatically 10 minutes after stopping and changes into a
parking mode. After having changed into a parking mode, a word “Par” doesn’t flash but
is displayed continuously.
Recording stops when converting into a parking and travel mode, so there is a loss of
image data.
2. It is stored in the AlwayMovie folder, “parking” is displayed during confirmation in the
private viewer program, and the recording time of J-21 firmware image increases to 10
minutes and the recoding time of JE21 firmware image increases to 6 minutes.
Current image confirmation
1. It is possible to confirm the current image by connecting the Video OUT to the external
input (AV in) function such as navigation, TV, etc. in case of a model with Video OUT. It
can be used to adjust the angle of a black box.
Remove the video output cable during travel after adjusting the angle. A malfunction may
happen due to the connected external device.
Recording during travel
- Normal recording: Recording starts while the buzzer sound goes off 5 times after
completion of booting, and is stored in an Always Movie folder.
- Impact detection recording: When an impact above the user set sensitivity is
detected(vehicle contact, sudden braking, speed bumps), the event recording starts, the
buzzer sound goes off once, and then the segment window flashes. When an image is
stored in an Event Movie folder, the images of total 30 sec such as 10 sec before and 20
sec after are recorded and stored.
The J-21 firmware is supported only when set in an event recording mode.
- Pressing a manual emergency recoding button stores an image in an Event Movie folder
even though it is not an impact generating situation, and records and stores the images of
total 30 sec such as 10 sec before and 20 sec after.
The J-21 firmware is supported only when set in an event recording mode.
End of recording
Starting the engine of a car turns OFF the power of the product as well. (when using
cigar power) Stopping the product under operation before in the following sequence
helps maintain the lifetime of the product and preserve data.
1. When recording it manually, wait for about 20 seconds and then remove power.
2. When ending the product, a sentence “See you”appears on the segment window, the
buzzer sound goes off 3 times, and then power is turned OFF.
Caution: Separating the SD memory card before ending the product causes an error
to the recorded image. Separate the SD memory card after the product has completely
ended by all means.
3. Completely pulling out the power cable connected to the cigar jack can prevent the
vehicle battery from being discharged.

12. Customer support FAQ
Q. I want to get a discount from an insurer. There is the product serial number?
The product serial number is attached to the SD card slot side of the product.
Q. There happens a buzzer sound during travel.
A Lukas black box has a built-in impact sensor that works depending on the travel curve,
speed bump and road surface condition, so a condition display window may flash along
with a buzzer sound. This is normal operation, so feel easy. When a buzzer sound
obstructs the operation, you can turn OFF the buzzer sound in the Lukas viewer terminal
environment setting.
Q. This is a model containing GPS, but its time goes wrong little by little. (normal power
connection)
Of the Lukas black box product groups, a product containing GPS has a time correction
function when receiving signals from a satellite. However, the time correction is renewed
once during initial booting when the product is booted to correct time.
For this reason, even if it has GPS, when it is continuously turned ON by using normal
power, time is maintained by a clock circuit called RTC inside.
RTC is operated by a certain clock, so there may be a period difference by 1 second when
it is turned ON for several days due to this error in the clock. Turning it ON continuously for
a very long time like this can make time go wrong little by little. In order to correct time, turn
it ON again with the power of a black box turned OFF in an area where GPS is received to
receive and renew time from the satellite.
Q. This is a black box containing GPS, but its private viewer displays no map.
This can be interlocked with the Google map used to display a GPS map only when the
Internet Explorer version of your PC is 7.0. Basically the basic Explorer version of XP is 6.0,
so I think that you need a version update.
You can check your Internet Explorer version by loading your Internet window and then
pressing Help Internet Explorer Information.
Thanks
Q. How should I handle the folder in a SD card in order to format it?
Formatting the SD card, inserting the empty SD card into the black box, and turning ON
power makes the black box automatically create a necessary folder. Normal operation is
possible without any file. However, if you have a black box environment setting value, e.g.
you have set the screen adjustment value and the impact sensor sensitivity value as a user
value, backing up a Setup folder of the SD card, formatting the SD card, and then copying it
again can preserve the setting value. However, if you have formatted all of them, then
proceed with the environment setup newly from the viewer.
Q. I use a normal power safety device, but the black box is turned OFF sometimes
during travel.
There are some customers who suffer this phenomenon often while a normal power safety
device. This is a problem generated by consuming excessive currents from the vehicle
battery. Especially, this phenomenon can take place because the battery voltage drops
below the set value due to an increase in vehicle battery consumption during travel with the
vehicle heater, head lamp, fog lamp, navigation, etc. turned ON at night during winter. At
this time, you had better lower, control and use the set voltage value a little.
Q. After the black box power is turned ON, an English warning sentence appears and it
doesn t work.
Judging from the above symptom, of the SD_FAIL sentences, AIL was displayed.
The main reason that SD_FAIL appears is that the lock of a memory card was stuck or the
SD card recognition is malfunctioning, so if the above symptom is repeated continuously,
contact our customer support center(Tel: 82-2-2093-1257).
Mostly the SD card lock was stuck, so check this point.
Q. The car was parked on a slope, but the parking mode is not recognized. (HD class
black box)
The Lukas black box model LK-3700G has an automatic parking conversion function, so
the black box judges whether a car is parked by synthesizing various information such as
position movement information, vehicle stop angle, etc.

however, when a vehicle is parked on a steep slope such as an uphill road, the black box
may not recognize the vehicle as a parking state.
In this case, when a vehicle maintains an angle above the designated reference value, the
vehicle can have an illusion that the current event has taken place, so the car cannot get
into a normal parking mode. Use it properly so that a parking mode may be available by
referring to this point.
Q. The product generates heat, but is it normal?
The Lukas black box series was developed to normally operate at preservation temperature
-30~80 and operation temperature -20~70 . You should observe the matters related to
the operation environments of an electronic product, so exceeding the limit can cause
abnormal operation of the product.
I think that most of the users will live in a proper operation temperature, so I think that there
will be no big problem in use. However, some users who use normal power ask what we
should do if the vehicle room temperature rises suddenly while parking a car outside during
summer. However, this doesn t happen within the operation environment specification.
Q. The focus of a stored image is wrong.
The picture quality may look blurry because of excessive exposure due to the black box
angle. Install and check the black box obliquely downward with respect to the
recommended installation angle. As another reason, the screen may look blurry because it
was affected by foreign substances or fingerprints or because of the vehicle glass
cleanliness, excessive tinting, backlight, etc. For the focus in the left/right side, the lens is
made based on central focusing, so there may be left/right deviation in an optical angle
lens.
we will contact you.
