LX400+ UV LED Spot Curing System
1. Introduction
The LX400+ UV LED SPOT CURING SYSTEM represents a
new standard in UV LED Curing. It gives you the power,
control, and reliability never before available in such a form
factor. The OmniCure LX400+ joins the Lumen Dynamics
family of light systems offering the same high level of
innovation, quality and reliability that our customers have
come to expect. Since 1982, Lumen Dynamics (formerly
EXFO LSI) has combined next generation optical
engineering, state-of-the art electronics and fibre-optics to
produce sophisticated technologies that employ light.
Today, Lumen Dynamics is a leading developer of light
based systems for sectors ranging from manufacturing to
bio-medicine and we are unmatched in our commitment to
quality and service.
The heart of the OmniCure LX400+ is the UV LED
Module with an amazing 20,000-hour lifetime. This
extended lifetime is made possible by the innovative
technology incorporated into the design of the system. The
UV LED‟s are enclosed within the UV LED head which
provides excellent spectral and power output.
The output power emission of the available UV LED
head is adjustable in 1% increments from 15% to 100% to
provide light for your application. In order to set your
OmniCure LX400+ at specific irradiance levels (W/cm2),
we suggest running trials to optimize the results for the UV
cured glues and adhesives used.
We recommend reading this manual to discover all the
features available of the OmniCure LX400+.

2.2 Safety Precautions
This series of cautions and warnings relate to the
installation, operation and maintenance of the
OmniCure LX400+. They are also presented
throughout this User‟s Guide as applicable.
WARNING
The protective eyewear provided is designed only for
viewing of indirect UV light on an intermittent basis.
Consistent with this intended use, this eyewear meets
the exposure limits as defined by HSM-73-11009 from
the U.S. Department of Health, National Institute for
Occupational Safety and Health. Additional protective
UV shielding is recommended for any process that
requires direct viewing or visual monitoring of UV light
for extended periods of time. It is the responsibility of
the end user to ensure that adequate safeguards are
implemented to prevent any potential hazardous UV
exposure.
CAUTION
The LED's available for this system provide optical
output power classified as RISK GROUP 2 as per IEC/
EN 62471-2. The user related risk of this system is
dependant on the final installation and use of this
product as detailed within this manual.
Always follow the installation guidelines as detailed in
Section 4.0 of this manual. Use of this system in any
manner not specified by Lumen Dynamics may expose
the user to potentially hazardous optical radiation and
UV.

RISK GROUP 2
CAUTION UV/ Hazardous visible radiation is emitted
from this product. Eye or skin irriatation may result from
exposure. Use appropriate shielding.
WARNING
When available LED Heads are installed, do not stare
directly at the LED aperture(s). This may be harmful,
resulting in eye injury. Always use the protective
eyewear provided with this device. Additionally, protect
any exposed skin with appropriate clothing or shielding
as required.
WARNING
To prevent accidental exposure to hazardous optical/ UV
radiation, always ensure that the available LED heads
are properly secured in a mounting fixture as described
in Section 4.0 of this manual.
Hand held use of the LED heads is not recommended
and may expose the user to dangerous optical radiation.
Additionally, to prevent unintentional exposure, use of
the on/ off key switch is recommended.
Ensure that the OmniCure LX400+ external power
supply cord is connected to a grounded (earthed mains
socket) 3-pin outlet only! Use only the external power
supply module and power supply cord set provided with
the system. Any substitution of these components will
invalidate regulatory certification of this device and may
impair operating safety.

Danger
This system contains hazardous voltages, do not
attempt to remove access covers. No user serviceable
parts are located within the controller chassis or the UV
LED head. It is recommended that ONLY QUALIFIED
TECHNICAL PERSONNEL perform any testing or
repairs.
Warning
The Level of UV energy supplied by OmniCure LX400+
is sufficient to ignite flammable substances. In the
manual operating mode, DO NOT leave the unit
unattended. During installation in an automated
environment, the appropriate measures including
integrated alarms, etc. must be included to detect the
failure of any associated equipment.
Warning
Do not attempt to connect any other type of equipment
to the qty. 4 connectors labelled “CH1-4” located on the
rear panel of the OmniCure LX400+. These connectors
are provided only for connection of the various LED
heads available from Lumen Dynamics.
Warning
Should the OmniCure LX400+ be used in a manner not
specified by Lumen Dynamics, the protection provided
by the equipment may be impaired.
Caution, Hot Surface
Due to elevated operating temperatures; avoid contact of
the LED head(s) when energized (front panel "LED ON"
emission indicator is illuminated Red). The LED heads
are designed to be mounted in a suitable fixture prior to
use. User clamp type heat sink assemblies are provided

with each LED head to provide user safety and optimum
thermal management.
Prior to handling of the UV LED head(s), allow a cool
down for a period of approximately 5 minutes after
system power has been removed.
Caution –Use of controls or adjustments or
performance of procedures other than those specified
herein my result in exposure to hazardous optical/ UV
radiation.
Cleaning
Clean exterior of the controller unit with a water
dampened cloth and simple detergent only. DO NOT
allow the ingress of any liquids into the controller
chassis.
Prior to attempting to clean the lens assembly, always
disconnect the external power supply cord from the
controller chassis. Additionally, allow approximately 5
minutes for the heads to cool down to room temperature
to prevent contact with any components at excessive
temperatures.
Use only a cloth slightly dampened with an appropriate
optical cleaning solution to clean the lens cover
assembly of the UV LED head. Applying a cleaning
solution to a hot lens assembly may result in
contamination or undesirable residue, resulting in
decreased optical performance.
The UV LED head‟s operation can be affected if handled
incorrectly. Never touch the protective lens cover
assembly of the UV LED head. The presence of skin oils
may result in a decrease in system performance.
Always ensure the system controller power is turned off,
prior to disconnecting or re-connecting any of the UV
LED heads.
