Use this guide to successfully install a Dimming and Switching Subplate into a UL Listed enclosure provided by
others. This guide describes subplate installation, wiring, and load activation.

Panel can be flush-mounted or surface-mounted and still be compatible with Lutron’s front cover.
The Lutron®retrofit subplate has been designed to work with the UL Listed 4-module enclosure sold by
LiteTouch®and Savant®. The enclosure dimensions shown represent the minimum volume for the subplate
to meet thermal requirements. Contact Lutron for use/consideration in any other enclosure.

Place the included
label in the panel as
shown. Note the
notch in the top
right of the label
goes around the
ground bus.
Ground Bus
Do not remove the
existing ground bus;
it will be needed to
connect the bus
ground wires.
Neutral Bars
Do not remove the
existing Neutral bars;
they will be needed to
connect the neutral
wires.
For indoor use only with NEMA/UL Type 1 listed enclosure, IP20.
Panel generates heat.
Mount only where ambient temperature is 32-104 °F (0-40 °C).
Relative humidity must be <90% non-condensing.
Reinforce wall structure for enclosure and subplate weight as needed for local codes. Use enclosure specifications
for weight requirements. Subplate weighs 42 lbs (19 kg) max.
Allow 12 in (305 mm) clearance above and below panel to allow for air flow.
Mount within 7° of true vertical.
Mount panel and subplate so line (mains) voltage wiring is at least 6 ft (1.8 m) from audio or electrical equipment
and associated wiring.
Secure subplate to enclosure using the provided screws.

Securing Subplate in LiteTouchREnclosure
Subplate Mounting
®® Installation Guide for CGP2730 Dimming and Switching Subplate 5
Pre-existing barrier
Place subplate into the enclosure as shown below. Mark the mounting locations (shown with arrows in step
three) and remove the subplate. Drill holes using a #29 size drill bit. Clean inside of enclosure and reinstall
subplate and secure with provided screws.
STEP ONE:
Place subplate into left side of the enclosure.
STEP TWO:
Slide subplate right, the four groups of
terminal blocks will pass through the
openings in the metal barrier.
STEP THREE:
Mark the eight mounting locations shown
with arrows and remove the subplate.
Drill holes using a #29 bit and vacuum
out any metal shavings.
STEP FOUR:
Reinstall the subplate and secure it using
the provided screws. Torque the screws
to 17 in-lbs (1.92 N•m).

Module and Module Interface (MI) Installation
Module installation: Secure up to 8 modules
using three screws for each module. Place the
tab on the bottom of the module around the
single screw and pull up. This will align the top
two screws. Torque all three screws to 17 in-lbs
(1.92 N•m) Repeat this process for all modules.

HWI-MI-120 installation: Secure the MI
using the two screws on the left side flange of
the subplate. These two screws will fit into the
two slots on the right side of the MI. Pull the
MI down and tighten the nuts between the
subplate flange and the modules, securing
the screws.

Plug the second 4-pin connector of the control harness (the first 4-pin connector says “TVM ISO” and is not used)
into the modules as shown. Start with the top right module working your way down to the lower left module, then
to the lower right. Repeat this for up to 8 modules. Set the rotary switch on each module according to the
corresponding HomeWorksR software.

HWI-MI-120 Control Wiring:
Plug the 4-pin connector from the control harness to the receiving 4-pin connector in the top right spot on the
HWI-MI-120 as shown below. Make sure the wires are not pinched and are not in a location that can be
damaged once the cover is installed.
HWI-MI-120 Power Wiring:
Plug the large, 2-pin connector from the control terminal blocks into the receiving 2-pin connector wired to
the HWI-MI-120. Ensure power wire to the MI is maintained with a minimum of .25 in (6 mm) from
communication wires. Dress the wires such that they will not be damaged by the components within the panel.

Program override Scene. The manual override levels are programmed using the HomeWorksRsoftware.
Terminate the processor communication link on the last module interface. If any of the module interfaces
are located more than 50 ft (15.25 m) from the processor, the last module interface on the chain must utilize a
terminator across terminals 3 and 4. LT-1A terminators that are included with the processor may be used for this
application. If LT-1A terminators are unavailable, a 0.25 W resistor between 100 and 150 ohms may be placed
from terminal 3 to terminal 4 to provide termination. Termination at the processor end of the chain is included on
HomeWorksR 8 Series processor boards so an LT-1A is not required. On HomeWorksRQS processors, link
termination is also required at the processor.
(Recommended) Connect manual override cable to the terminal blocks as shown below.
The manual override scene (as programmed in the HomeWorksRsoftware) is activated for all modules connected
to the Module Interface by closing the manual override switch wired between the two terminals. For maximum
reliability, group Module Interfaces on a single switch. This arrangement should have the switch and all of the
Module Interfaces wired in parallel.

Proper polarity must be maintained across all units. For manual override cable runs less than 1000 ft
(300 m) connected to a single module interface 16 to 24 AWG (1.5 to .05 mm ) wiring can be used.
For manual override cable runs exceeding 1000 ft (300 m) or those connected to multiple module
interfaces, 16 to 18 AWG (1.5 to 1.0 mm ) wiring must be used. If the installer chooses to use their
own switch, the switch used must be rated for switching at least 50 mA at 28 V . For switching
multiple module interfaces, the switch must be rated for switching the sum of the current for all of the
module interfaces connected (e.g., 6 module interfaces wired to a single override switch would require
a switch rated for 300 mA at 28 V ).

Do not install a temporary distribution panel. For
temporary lighting needs, each input breaker can
supply power to a load with the pre-installed bypass
jumper present. The bypass jumper also protects
the module from load faults.

These jumpers protect from load faults and must be used to check load wiring when it is installed or modified.

C. Turn circuit breaker feeding the Module Interface ON.
Check that the power indicator LED on the Module Interface is ON. If the power indicator LED is OFF, verify that
the 24 V~terminals from the transformer are connected to the board, the power plug for the Module Interface
is plugged in and wired to the enclosure terminal blocks, and that the circuit breaker is turned ON.
D. Turn circuit breaker feeding module 1 ON.
Load(s) associated with the circuit should energize, the breaker should not trip, and the total load current must
be within the circuit breaker's limit and less than or equal to 16 A.
