Cleaning & Troubleshooting:
To clean any loose powder from the scale, follow the procedure outlined
below.
1. Turn off scale and remove powder pan from platform.
2. Brush away or blow off any loose powder around platform. This should
be a sufficient cleaning for typical usage of the scale.
If having problems zeroing or if scale is not operating properly, a more thor-
ough cleaning of the scale may be required by following the steps outlined
below. Please note that this type of cleaning IS NOT required after every
use of the scale.
1. Turn off scale and remove powder pan from platform.
2. Gently remove the silver platform off the load cell. Remove the platform
from the load cell by pulling straight up on the platform.
NOTE: The raised ring under the platform is to prevent powder from falling
down onto the load cell and disrupting operation.
3. Brush away or blow off any powder that may have been trapped under
the platform. Take care in doing this as to not brush / blow any powder
down into the exposed load cell.
4. Replace platform by pushing it straight down onto the load cell until it fully
seats.
5. Cleaning is complete at this point. BE SURE TO RE-CALIBRATE AND
RE-ZERO SCALE BEFORE CONTINUED USE!
The scale body and cover may be cleaned with a paper towel dampened
with window cleaner. This will help remove any static charge that may be
present. The scale should be cleaned in this manner if any static charge is
noted.

Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the Lyman Pro-Touch 1500 Precision
Digital scale. This is a precision piece of equipment and should be handled
with care. Before using the Pro-Touch, please read these instructions fully
and become familiar with its operation and features. If you do not under-
stand some of the operations or have questions about the use of the scale,
call us at 1-800-22-LYMAN (Foreign Customers may call 860-632-2020).
Display
The scale is equipped with a backlit, touch screen display. Touch screen
keys include: ON/OFF which turns the scale on and off, ZERO which tares
or zeros the scale, MODE which switches the scale from grains to grams,
and CAL which is used to calibrate the scale.
Set-Up
1. Select a location for the Pro-Touch that is level and stable. It is recom-
mended that the scale be located away from a loading bench equipped
with a reloading press. Most benches are not heavy enough to prevent
vibrations being transferred to the scale. The scale should also be posi-
tioned away from any source of drafts, air currents, or temperature chang-
es. The 1500 is sensitive enough to be affected by these conditions.
2. Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet and connect it to the scale. The
scale can also be run on three AAA batteries. To install the batteries,
remove the cover on the bottom of the scale and install the batteries so
that the negative ends are against the springs.
3. The scale is equipped with a clear plastic dust cover. The cover is lift-
ed off when the scale is in use. It is recommended that the cover be
replaced when the scale is not in use to protect the platform and load
cell.
4. For the first use, it is recommended to turn on the scale and allow it to
run for 24 hours. This will help it to stabilize to its surroundings.
Notice: When first turning on the scale it will remember whether
it was last run in the Grain or Gram mode, and lock in this
setting the next time it is turned on. Allow one minute run time
before changing mode settings.
Calibration
1. It is recommended that the scale be calibrated before each use, or if the
scale is moved or jarred in any way.
2. Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the scale.
3. Press the ZERO button to reset the scale to zero.
4. Press the CAL button and the display will read “CAL”, then flash “100.00”.
Place the supplied 100 gram calibration weight on the platform. The pow-
der pan should not be on the scale.
5. The scale should read “PASS”, then will show 1543.2 gn on the display.
Remove the 100-gram weight. The display will now show 0.0 gn.
Operation
1. Place the empty powder pan on the platform and press the ZERO button
to reset the scale to zero.
2. The scale is now ready to weigh powder.
3. The scale can be changed to display grains or grams as desired. Press
the MODE button to switch the scale from one to the other. In the grain
mode the scale will display “grain”, in the gram mode the scale will display
“gram”.
4. It is recommended that the ZERO button be pressed on occasion during
use (approximately every 10 loads measured) to ensure that the scale
is maintaining its zero or any time the display is off zero when an empty
powder pan is on the platform.
5. The scale is equipped with an auto-shutoff feature when batteries are in
use. The scale will auto-shutoff after approximately 4 minutes of non-use
to save battery life.
6. The display will show “LO” to indicate a low battery condition.
7. To shut-off the scale, press the ON/OFF button.
Cautions
1. Never leave a load on the scale for a prolonged period of time as this can
damage the load cell.
2. Always place the calibration weight or a load gently onto the scale.
Dropping the weight on may cause permanent damage to the load cell.
3. Do not attempt to disassemble the scale. There are no user serviceable
parts inside the scale.
