engineinformationlabelisafxedtoallMACKdieselengines.Thislabel,
whichislocatedonthecylinderheadcoveratthefrontoftheengine,gives
basicengineidenticationinformation(enginemodel,serialnumber,etc.),
advertisedhorsepoweratratedspeed,emissionsregulationstowhichthe
engineconformsandinletandexhaustvalvelashsettings.Examplesofthe
49stateEPAapproved,and50stateEPAandCaliforniaapprovedengine

TheCaliforniaAirResourcesBoard(ARB)requiresthat2008andlatermodel
yearvehiclesbeequippedwithengineshavingtamper-resistantsoftware
whichlimitsthetimeatwhichtheenginecanidleatspeedsabovelowidle
(550–700rpm).Atspeedsabovelowidle,andwithoutaPTOengaged,idle
timewillbelimitedtoveminutes,afterwhichtheenginewillrevertbacktolow
idle.VehiclesequippedwithaCleanIdleengineareidentiedbyalabelwhich
isafxedtotheleftfrontcornerofthehoodonconventionalmodels(GU).
