USE RIGHT TOOL. Don't force small tool or attachment to do the job of a
heavy-duty tool. Don't use tool for purpose not intended.
DRESS PROPERLY. Don't wear loose clothingor jewelry. They can be caught
in moving parts. Rubber gloves and non-skid footwear are recommended
when working outdoors. Wear protective hair coveringto contain long hair.
USE SAFETY GLASSES. Also use face or dust mask if cutting operation is
dusty.
DON'T ABUSE CORD. Never carrytool by cord or yank
it todisconnect from
receptacle. Keep cord from heat, oil, and sharp edges.
SECURE WORK. Use clamps or a vise to hold work. It's safer than using
your hand and
it frees both hands to operate tool.
DON'T OVERREACH. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
MAINTAIN TOOLS WITH CARE. Keep tools sharp and clean for better and
safer performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing acces-
sories. Inspect toolcords periodicallyand
if damaged, haverepairedby autho-
rized service facility. Inspect extension cords periodically and replace if
damaged. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease.

in use, before servicing, and when chang-
ing accessories, such as blades, bits, cutters.

14. REMOVE ADJUSTING KEYS AND WRENCHES. Form habit of checking to
see that keysand adjusting wrenches are removedfrom tool before turning

moving parts, binding
of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and
any other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other part
that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized
service center unless otherwise indicated elsewhere in this instruction
manual. Have defective switches replacedby authorized servicecenter. Don’t
use tool if switch does not turn
it on and off.
19. GUARD AGAINST ELECTRIC SHOCK. Prevent body contact with grounded
surfaces. For example; pipes, radiators, ranges, refrigerator enclosures.
20. REPLACEMENTPARTS. When servicing, useonly identicalreplacementparts.

Installing or removingbattery cartridge
0 Always switch off the tool before insertion or removal of the battery cartridge.
*To remove the battery cartridge, pull out
the
set plate on the tool and grasp both
sides of the cartridgewhile withdrawing it
from the tool.
*To insert the battery cartridge, align the
tongue on the battery cartridge with the
groove in the housing and slip
it into
place. Snap the
set plate back into place.
Be sure to close the set plate fully before
using the tool.

Ifthe cartridge does not slide ineasily,
it is notbeing insertedcorrectly.
Charging
Plug the fast charger into your power
source. Insert the battery cartridge
so that
the plus and minus terminals on the bat-
tery cartridge are on the same sides
as their
respective markings on the fast charger.
Insert the cartridge fully into the port
so
that it rests on the charger portfloor.
Press the start button (red). The charging
light will come on and chargingwill begin.

lfthe charginglightdoes not come on, press the reset button (yellow)first, then the start
button (red).
If the charging light goes out within 10 seconds even after pressing the
reset button and start button
a couple of times, the battery cartridge is dead. (CAU-
TION
: Wait for more than 5 seconds after the charging light goes out to press the reset
button again.) Replace
it with a new one. When the charging light goes out after about
one hour, you may removethe fully charged battery cartridge.
After charging, unplugthe charger from the power source.
CAUTION
:
0 Your new battery cartridge is notcharged. You will need tocharge it before use.
.Do not keep the button pressed in with tape, etc. or the circuit will not function pro-
perly.
Also, a malfunction of the charger may result possibly causing overheating,etc.
0 If you try to charge a cartridge from a just-operated tool, sometimesthe charginglight
will not come
on. If this occurs, let the cartridge cool off for a while. Then re-insert it
and try to charge it once more.
0 When you charge a new battery cartridge or a battery cartridge which has not been used
for
a long period, it may not accept a full charge. This is a normal condition and does
not indicate
a problem. You can recharge the battery cartridge fully after discharging
it almost completely a couple of times.
0 If youwish tocharge two battery cartridges,allow 15 minutes betweenchargings on the
fast charger.

Use only the driver bitor socket bit shown
in the figure.
Do not use any other driver bit or socket
bit.
To install the bit, pull the sleeve in the
direction
of the arrow and insert the bit
into the
sleeve as far as it will go. Then
release the
sleeve to secure the bit.

To remove the bit, pull the sleeve in the direction of the arrow andpull the bitout firmly.
NOTE
:
If the bit is not inserted deep enough into the sleeve, the sleeve will not return to its
original position and the bit will not be secured. In this
case, try re-inserting the bit
accordingto the instructions above.

Switch action
Tool speed
is increased by increasing pres-
sure on the trigger.
To start the tool,
simply pull the trigger.
Release the trigger
to stop.
CAUTION
:
Before inserting the battery cartridge into the tool, always check to see that the trigger
switch actuates properly and returns tothe
"OFF" position when released.
Reversingswitch action
This tool has
a reversing switch to change
the direction of rotation. Move the revers-
ing switch tothe left for clockwise rotation
or tothe right for counterclockwise.
CAUTION
:
0 Always check the direction of rotationbefore operation.
*Use the reversing switch only after the tool comes to
a complete stop. Changing the
direction of rotationbefore the tool stops may damage the tool.

Operation
The proper fastening torque may differ depending uponthe kindor size of the screw, the
type
of material to be fastened, etc. The relation between fasteningtorque and fastening
time is shown in the figures below.

Hold the tool firmly and place the point of the driver bit in the screw head. Apply for-
ward pressure to the tool to the extent that the bitwill not slip off the screw and turn the
tool on tostart operation.
NOTE :
0 Use the proper bitfor the head of the screw that youwish to use.

0 If you fasten the screw for a time longer than shown in the figures above, the screw or
the screw or the point of the driver. bit may be overstressed, stripped, damaged,

Before starting your job, always perform a test operation toverify the adequatefasten-
ing time for your screw. When fastening
a machine screw in a steel plate, the proper
fastening torque can be obtained in an extremely short time (approx.
0.1 -0.2 seconds).
Turn the tool off
as soon as the impact sound is heard.
