Informationen zum Vorbild
Seit 1963 wurde die V 160 in verschiedenen Varianten von der Deut-
schen Bundesbahn angeschafft. Basierend auf den Erfahrungen,
die mit dieser Lokbaureihe gesammelt werden konnten, wurde Ende
der sechziger Jahre die leistungsstärkere Variante der Baureihe 218
konstruiert. 1971 konnte die Serienlieferung dieser mit einer Leistung
von ca. 1840 kW (2500 PS) um über 30 Prozent gegenüber den Vorgän-
germodellen stärkeren Lok beginnen.
Die zulässige Höchstgeschwindigkeit der Lok liegt mit 140 km/h um bis
zu 20 km/h über der Höchstgeschwindigkeit der Vorgängermodelle. Das
Modell gehört bis heute zu den Standardlokomotiven auf nichtelektrifi-
zierten Strecken der Deutschen Bundesbahn.
Die ersten Modelle wurden in der altroten Farbgestaltung ausgeliefert.
Später erhielten die Fahrzeuge eine ozeanblau / beige Lackierung wäh-
rend heute die Fahrzeuge in neuroter Farbgebung gestaltet werden.
Information about the prototype
Since 1963 the V 160 has been purchased by the German Federal
Railroad in different versions. Based on the experiences gathered with
this locomotive class, the powerful class 218 variation was designed
at the end of the 60’s. In 1971 series production of this more powerful
locomotive (1,840 kilowatts (2,500 horsepower) or 30% more than the
predecessor models) was started.
The maximum permissible speed for this locomotive is 140 km/h (ap-
prox. 88 mph), or 20 km/h (approx. 13 mph) faster than the predecessor
models. The class 218 is currently the standard locomotive on non-
electrified routes of the German Federal Railroad.
The first models were delivered in the old red paint scheme. Later the
units were given on ocean blue / cream paint scheme, while currently
they are painted in the new red scheme.

Informations concernant la locomotive réelle
Depuis 1963, différents variantes de la V 160 ont été acquises par les
Chemins de fer de la Deutsche Bundsbahn. Sur la base des expéri-
ences acquises avec cette série de locomotives, on a construit à la
fin des années 60, la puissante variante de la série 218. La livraison de
série de cette locomotive a débuté en 1971. D’une puissance d’environ
1840 kW (2500 PS), elle était plus puissante de plus de 30% que les
modèles précédents.
Avec 140 km/h, la vitesse maximale autorisée de la locomotive était
supérieure de jusqu’à 20 km/h aux modèles précédents. Jusqu’à nos
jours, cette locomotive fait partie des locomotives standard sur les
lignes non électrifiées des Chemins de fer de la Deutsche Bundesbahn.
Les premiers modèles ont été fournis dans la livrée vieux rouge. Par la
suite, les véhicules ont reçu une couleur bleu océan beige, tandis que
les véhicules actuels reçoivent une livrée dans un rouge nouveau.

Sinds 1963 werd de V 160 in verschillende varianten door de Deutsche
Bundesbahn aangeschaft. Voortbouwend op de ervaringen die met
deze lokomotievenserie opgedaan konden worden, werd aan het eind
van de jaren zestig de sterke variant serie 218 geconstrueerd. Deze ca.
1840 kW (2500 pk) sterke machine is rond 30% sterker dan zijn voorgan-
gers. De serie-aflevering kon in 1971 beginnen.
De maximum snelheid van 140 km/h ligt ongeveer 20 km/h hoger dan
die van zijn voorgangers. Het model behoort heden tot de standaard-
lokomotieven op niet-geëlektrificeerde trajecten bij de Deutschen
Bundesbahn.
De eerste modellen werden in de oudrode kleurstelling afgeleverd.
Later kregen de voertuigen een turkooizen/beige beschildering; tegen-
woordig worden de voertuigen in nieuwrood geschilderd.
