INFRARED THERMOMETER SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
IAWARNING:I
• To prevent possible electrical shock , fire, eye damage , and personal injury read all
safety Information before you use the product.
• Use the product only as specified , or the protection supplied by the product can
be compromised.
• Do not use the product around explosive gas , vapor, or in damp or wet environments .
• Do not use the product if it operates incorrectly .
• See emissivity information for actual temperatures . Reflective objects result in lower
than actual temperature measurements . These objects pose a burn hazard .
• Do not look directly into the laser with optical tools (for example , binoculars , telescopes ,
microscopes). Optical tools can focus the laser and be dangerous to the eye.
• Do not look into the laser. Do not point laser directly at persons or animals or indirectly
off reflective surfaces. The laser beam is dangerous to eyes.
• Use the product only as specified , or hazardous laser radiation exposure can occur.
• Do not use laser viewing glasses as laser protection glasses. Laser viewing glasses
are used only for better visibility of the laser in bright light.
• Have an approved technician repair the product.

• Thermal shock (caused by large or abrupt ambient temperature changes . For highest
accuracy ,allow 30 minutes for Thermometer to become stable before use).
BATTERY USE AND CARE
For safe operation and maintenance :
• Remove the batteries if the product is not used for an extended period of time, or ifstored
in temperatures above 50°C / 122°F. If the batteries are not removed , battery leakage can
damage the product.
• Replace the batterieswhen the low battery indicator shows to prevent incorrect measurements.
• Have the product repaired before use if the batteries leak.
• Be sure that the battery polarity is correct to prevent battery leakage.
• Do not short the battery terminals together, do not keep cells or batteries in a container
where the terminals can be shorted .
• Do not put battery cells and battery packs near heat or fire. Do not put in sunlight.

MEASURING THE TEMPERATURE
1. Pressthe measurementtrigger "8" and pointthe laseronthe spot to be measured.
2. Whilethe measurementtrigger "8" is pressed,the temperatureis measuredand
displayed. "SCAN"is shownon the display "3."
3. After releasingthetrigger "8" the lastmeasuredtemperatureis indicated on the display
"3" and the laseris switched OFF.
4. Toobtain the mostaccurate measurement,please notethe following:
a. Thedeterminedtemperatureisthe averagetemperatureof the measuredarea.
Thefarther awayfromthe object being measuredthatthe laseris, the largerthe
areaof the object that will be sampled. Seefigure below.

b.Thetarget object must be largerthan the measuringsurface of the device.The
smallerthe target object is,the lessthe distance betweenappliance and target
object mustbe.
c. Selectthe smallestpossible distanceto the surface being measured.
d. Aim the device as perpendicular as possible to the surface being measured.
e. Do notmeasureindusty,smokyor steamyatmosphere.
f. Do not measurethroughtransparentmaterials,such as glass or plastic.
g. In theevent of extremetemperaturefluctuationsallowthe device to adjust to the
ambientclimatic conditions forabout 30 minutesbefore measuring.

INSERTING/REPLACING THE BATTERY
The InfraredThermometeroperates using a 9 volt battery.
1. Open the battery compartment"7" on the side of the handle.
2. Insertbattery,complying withthe specified polaritiesgiven on the batteryintothe battery
compartment "7".
3. Closethe battery compartmentcover.
4.A battery icon "9" appears in the display "3" when the battery voltage is low.
INITIATING INFRARED THERMOMETER
Hold the handleof the InfraredThermometerso thatthe index finger can operatethe
measurementtrigger "8" and thethumb can operatethe button "4" - "6".
SWITCHING INFRARED THERMOMETER ON/OFF
1. Pressthe measurementtrigger "8" to switch the device ON.The display "3" lightsup
and a brief signaltone is heard.
2. Pressand hold the C/Fbutton "5" for approximately3 seconds to switchthe device OFF,
two brief signaltoneswill be heard.
3. Ifthe device in not currentlyin use,the back light of the display "3" switchesoff after
approximately 15seconds. Afterapproximately60 seconds the device switchesOFF
automatically,two short signaltones will be heard.
SELECTION OF TEMPERATURE UNIT
After switching ON,the default temperatureunit is shownas degrees Celsius(°C).
1. Brieflypressthe C/Fbutton "5" to switch to the unitof degrees Fahrenheit(°F).
2. Brieflypressthe C/Fbutton "5" again to switch back to the unitof degrees Celsius(0C).
INDICATING TEMPERATURE DEVIATION
A temperaturedeviation isthe differencebetweena predeterminereferencevalueand a
measuredtemperature.The deviationsare shown as colored indicatoron the display "3". In
addition, theywill also be pointedout by an acoustic signal.
SETTING REFERENCES VALUES
1. Pressthe measurementtrigger "8" and point the laseron the spot to be referenced.
Thetemperatureis shownon the display "3".

2. Pressand hold the measurementtrigger "8", theC/Fbutton "5" to accept the temperature
value as a referencevalue.The referencetemperatureis shownon the display "3" nextto
the indicator"REF".
SELECTION OF TEMPERATURE DELTA
On the device you can now set atwhich temperaturedifference(L'IT)the color display and
the acoustic signal should respond.
1. Press,whilethe referencevalue is being shownon the display "3", the right button "4" or
the button "6"to set the desired temperaturedifference(L'IT).

SCANNING A TEMPERATURE DEVIATION
1. Pressthe measurementtrigger "8'' and point the laserat the spot to be measured.
The temperatureisshownon the display "3".
2. Whilescanning, holdthe measurementtrigger "8" down and move the laserdot slowlyand
continuouslyover the surfaceto be measured.The temperaturedeviations betweenthe
referenceand measurementvaluesare presentedas follow.
