SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Before installing the air conditioner unit, please read the following safety precautions carefully.
!Warning
• Installation and maintenance should be performed by qualified persons who are familiar with local code and
regulation, and experienced with this type of appliance.
• All field wiring must be installed in accordance with the national wiring regulation.
• Ensure that the rated voltage of the unit corresponds to that of the name plate before commencing wiring work
according to the wiring diagram.
• The unit must be GROUNDED to prevent possible hazard due to insulation failure.
• All electrical wiring must not touch the refrigerant piping, compressor and any moving parts of the fan motors.
• Confirm that the unit has been switched OFF before installing or servicing the unit.
IMPORTANT
DO NOT INSTALL OR USE THE AIR CONDITIONER UNIT IN A LAUNDRY ROOM.

!Caution
Please take note on the following important points when installing.
• Do not install the unit where leakage of flammable gas may occur.
If gas leaks and accumulates at the surrounding of the unit, it may cause fire ignition.
• Ensure that the drainage piping is connected properly.
If the drainage piping is not connected properly, it may cause water leakage which will dampen the
furniture.
• Do not overcharge the unit.
This unit is factory pre-charged. Overcharge will cause over-current or damage to the compressor.
• Ensure that the unit panel is covered back after service or installation.
Unsecured panel will cause unit to operate noisily.

Please ensure that the following steps are taken:
• Check the gradient for drainage flow as recommended in Figure B.
• Provide clearance for easy servicing and optimal air flow as
shown in Figure C.
• The indoor unit must be installed such that there is no short
circuit of the cool discharge air with the warm return air.
• Do not install the indoor unit where there is direct
sunlight shining on the unit. The location should be
suitable for piping and drainage installation. The unit must be
a large distance away from the door.

Preliminary Site Survey
• Electrical supply and installation shall conform to the local
authority (e.g. National Electrical Board).
• Voltage supply fluctuation must not exceed ±10% of the rated
voltage. Electricity supply lines must be independent of weld-
ing transformers which can cause high supply fluctuation.
• Ensure that the installation location is convenient for wiring
and piping.
Standard Mounting
Ensure that the overhead supports are strong enough to hold the
weight of the unit. Position the hanger rods (wall
mounting bracket for floor standing), and check for its
alignment with the unit. Also, check that the hangers are secured
and the base of the fan coil unit is leveled in both horizontal direc-
tions, taking into account the gradient for drainage flow as recom-
mended in Figure B.

• The location must be well-ventilated, so that the unit
can draw in and distribute plenty of air thus lowering
the temperature.
• A place capable of bearing the weight of the outdoor
unit as well as isolating noise and vibration.
• A place protected from the direct sunlight. Use an
awning for protection if necessary. See Figure I.
• Ensure that there is no obstruction to the air flowing
into or out of the unit. Remove any obstacles that block
the air intake or air discharge. See Figure G and H.
• Install the outdoor condensing unit in such a way that
the hot air distributed cannot be drawn in again (as in
the case of short circuit of hot discharge air). Allow
sufficient space for maintenance work around the unit.

!Caution
If the outdoor condensing unit is operated in an atmosphere containing oils (including machine oils), salt (coastal area),
sulfide gas (nearby hot spring or oil refinery plant), such substances may lead to failure of the unit.
REFRIGERANT PIPING
Maximum Pipe Length And Maximum Number Of Bends
If the pipe length is too long, both the capacity and the
reliability of the unit will decrease. As the number of bends
increases, resistance of the piping system to the refrigerant
flow increases and thus lowering the capacity, as a result
the compressor may become defective. See Figure N and
Figure O.

Therefore, always select the shortest path for the piping
system and follow the recommendations as tabulated in the
table.

Piping Works And Flaring Technique
• Do not use contaminated or damaged copper tubing. If any pipings, evaporator or condenser had been exposed or had been
opened for 15 seconds or more, then vacuum and purge with field supplied refrigerant. Generally, do not remove plastic,
rubber plugs and brass nuts from the valves, fittings, tubings and coils until it is ready to connect suction or liquid line into
valves or fittings.
• If any brazing work is required, ensure that the nitrogen gas is passed through coil and joints while the brazing work is
being done. This will eliminate soot formation on the inside walls of the copper tubings.
• Cut the pipe stage by stage, advancing the blade of the pipe cutter slowly. Extra force and deep cut will cause more
distortion on the pipe and thus extra burr. See Figure P.

Swaging Block
• Remove burrs from cut edges of the pipes with remover
as shown in Figure O. This will avoid unevenness on
the flare faces which will cause gas leak. Hold the end
of the pipe downwards to prevent metal chips from
entering the pipe.
• Insert the flare nuts, mounted on the connection parts of
both the indoor unit and outdoor unit, onto the copper
pipes.
• The exact length of pipe protruding from the face of the
flare die is determined by the flaring tool. See Figure R.
The table shows the use of an imperial die and rigid die.
• Fix the pipe firmly on the flare die. Match the centers of
both the flare die and the flaring punch, and then tighten
the flaring punch fully.
Piping Connection To The Units
• Align the center of the piping and tighten the flare nut
sufficiently with fingers.
• Finally, tighten the flare nut with the torque wrench until
the wrench clicks.
• When tightening the flare nut with the torque wrench,
ensure that the tightening direction follows the arrow
indicated on the wrench.

1) Open the suction service port cap.
2) Manifold gauge connection:
• Low side hose from manifold gauge to the suction
service port.
• Service (center) hose from manifold gauge to the
vacuum pump.
3) Evacuate for approximately one hour (evacuation time
varies with pump capacity).
• Confirm that the manifold gauge needle has moved
towards -30inHg (-76cmHg).
4) Close the low side valve on the manifold gauge, turn
off the vacuum pump and confirm that the gauge needle
does not move (approximately 3 minutes after turning
off the vacuum pump).
5) Disconnect the service hose from the vacuum pump.
6) After evacuation, open the valve stem of the discharge
and suction valve counter-clockwise for the gas to run
into the indoor unit.
7) Check the low side pressure after turning on the
compressor for 10 to 15 minutes.

• The pre-charged outdoor unit does not need any vacuuming or charging. However, once it is connected, the connecting
pipe line and the indoor unit need to be vacuumed before releasing the refrigerant (R22) from the outdoor unit.
Vacuuming Procedure For 2, 3 Way Valve (See Figure S)

• Stopping half-way will cause the gas to be
discharged.
• If the system has been charged with liquid
refrigerant while operating the air conditioner, then
turn off the air conditioner before disconnecting the
hose.
5) Mount the valve stem nuts and service port nut.
• Be sure to check for any gas leakage.
Vacuuming Procedure For 2 x 3 Way Valve
(See Figure T)
1) Open the suction and discharge service port cap.
2) Manifold gauge connection:
• Low side hose from manifold gauge to the suction
service port.
• High side hose from manifold gauge to the discharge
service port.
• Service (center) hose from manifold gauge to the
vacuum pump.
3) Turn "ON" the power switch of the vacuum pump and
make sure that needle in the manifold gauge moved
towards -30 inHg (-76 cmHg).
4) Close the valve of both the low and high sides on the
manifold gauge, turn "OFF" the vacuum pump and
confirm that the gauge needle does not move
(approximately 3 minutes after turning "OFF" the
vacuum pump).
5) Disconnect the service hose from the vacuum pump.
Charging Procedure For 2, 3 Way Valve
(See Figure U)
1) Connect the service hose from manifold gauge to
the charging cylinder.
• Connect the service hose, which you have
disconnected from the vacuum pump, to the valve at
bottom of the cylinder.
• If you are using a gas cylinder, then use a scale and
reverse the cylinder so that the system can be charged
with liquid.
2) Purge the air from the service hose.
• Open the valve at the bottom of the cylinder and
press the check valve suction on the manifold gauge
to purge the air (be careful with the liquid
refrigerant). The procedure is the same if you are
using a gas cylinder.
3) Open the valve (low side) on the manifold gauge
and charge the system with liquid refrigerant.
• If the system cannot be charged with the specified
amount of refrigerant, then it should be charged little
by little (approximately 150g at each time) while
operating the air conditioner under cooling cycle.
However, one time is not sufficient, wait
approximately 1 minute and then repeat the
procedure.
4) Immediately disconnect the service hose from the
suction valve's service port.
6) After that, open the valve stem of the discharge and
suction valve counter-clockwise for the gas to run into
the indoor unit.
7) Check the low side pressure after turning "ON" the
compressor for 10 to 15 minutes.

• Within the value - refrigerant cycle normal.
• Lower than the value - refrigerant cycle has leaks. Checking, repairing and top-up is necessary.
• Too low (Ωzero) - needs evacuation and charge.
!Caution
This is different from the previous procedures. As you are charging with liquid refrigerant from the gas side (suction
line), absolutely do not attempt to charge with large amount of liquid refrigerant while operating the air conditioner.

OVERALL CHECKING
• Ensure that:
1) The unit has been mounted solidly and rigid in
position.
2) The piping and connections are leak-proof after the
charging.
3) Proper wiring has been installed.
• Drainage check
– pour some water into the left side of the drain pan
(the drainage is at the right side of the unit).
• Test run:
1) Conduct a test run on the unit after having perform
the water drainage test and the gas leakage test.
2) Check the following items:
a) Is the electrical plug inserted firmly into the socket?
b) Is there any abnormal sounds from the unit?
c) Is there any abnormal vibrations on the unit or the
piping?
d) Is the drainage of water smooth?
• Confirm that:
1) The condenser fan is running. Check the warm air
blowing from the condensing unit.
2) The evaporator blower is running and discharge cool
air.
3) The suction (low side) pressure is as recommended.
4) The remote controller incorporates a 3-minute delay
protection in the circuit, whereby the outdoor
condensing unit requires about 3 minutes delay
before it can start operating.
ADDITIONAL CHARGE
• The refrigerant gas has already been charged into the
outdoor unit. If the piping length is not more than 5m,
then additional charge of the refrigerant after
vacuuming is not necessary.
• When the piping length is more than 5m, please use the
charge as tabulated in the table.

For 2 x 3 way valve
1) Connect the service hose from the manifold gauge to
the charging cylinder.
• Connect the service hose, which you have
disconnected from the vacuum pump, to the valve at
the bottom of the cylinder.
• If you are using a gas cylinder, then use a scale and
reverse the cylinder so that the system can be charged
with liquid.
2) Purge the air from the service hose.
• Open the valve at the bottom of the cylinder and press
the check valve suction on the manifold gauge to
purge the air (be careful with the liquid refrigerant).
The procedure is the same if you are using a gas
cylinder.
3) Open the valve (high side) on the manifold gauge
and charge the refrigerant to the system (unit).
• Be sure to open only the valve (high side) on the
manifold gauge to charge the system from the
discharge pipe (liquid side).
4) Immediately disconnect the service hoses from the
3-way valve service port.

5) Mount the valve nuts and the service port nut onto
the 3-way valve.
• Be sure check for any gas leakage.
AUTO RANDOM RE-START FUNCTION
If there is a power cut when the unit is operating, it will automatically resume the same operating mode when the power
is restored. (Applicable only to units with this feature)
!Caution
Before turning off the power supply, set the remote controller’s ON/OFF switch to the “OFF” position to prevent the
nuisance tripping of the unit.
If this is not done, the unit’s fans will start turning automatically when power resumes, posing a hazard to service
personnel or the user.
!Warning
•Disconnect from the main power supply before servicing the air conditioner unit.
•DO NOT pull out the power cord when the power is ON. This may cause serious electrical shocks which may
result in fire hazards.

Maintenance Procedures
1. Remove any dust adhered on the filter by using a vacuum
cleaner or wash in lukewarm water (below 40°C) with neutral
cleaning detergent.
2. Rinse well and dry the filter before placing it back onto the
unit.
3. Do not use gasoline, volatile substances or chemical to clean
the filter.
1. Clean any dirt or dust on the grille or panel by wiping it using
soft cloth soaked in lukewarm water (below 40°C) with
neutral detergent solution.
2. Do not use gasoline, volatile substances or chemical to clean
the indoor unit.
1. Check its cleanliness and clean it if necessary.

When any malfunction of the air conditioner unit is noted, immediately switch off the power supply to the
unit. Check the following fault conditions and causes for some simple trouble shooting tips.
TROUBLE SHOOTING
Causes
- Protection against frequent starting. Wait for 3 to 4
minutes for the compressor to start operate.
- Power failure, or the fuse need to be replaced.
- The power plug is disconnected.
- It is possible that your delay timer has been set incorrectly.
- If the fault persist after all these verifications, please
contact the air conditioner unit installer.
- The air filter is dirty.
- The doors or windows are open.
- The air suction and discharge are clogged.
- The regulated temperature is not high enough.
- Battery flat.
- The batteries are placed incorrectly.
- Odors may be caused by cigarettes, smoke particles,
perfume etc. which might have adhered onto the coil.
- This is caused by air humidity after an extended long
period of operation.
- The set temperature is too low, increase the temperature
setting and operate the unit at high fan speed.
- Check the condensate evacuation.
- Refrigerant fluid flowing into the evaporator coil.
Fault
1. The compressor does not start operate after 3 minutes
from starting the air conditioner unit.
2. The air conditioner unit does not operate.
3. The air flow is too low.
4. The remote control display is dim.
5. Discharge air flow has bad odor.
6. Condensation on the front air grille of the indoor unit.
7. Water flowing out from the air conditioner unit.
8. Hissing air flow sound from the air conditioner unit
during operation.
If the fault persists, please call your local dealer / serviceman.
Do not operate any heating apparatus too close to the air conditioner unit. This may
cause the plastic panel to melt or deform as a result of the excessive heat.

!Avertissement
Vérifier les points suivants au cours de l’installation.
• Ne pas installer l'appareil où il peut se produire des fuites de gaz inflammable.
En cas de fuite et accumulation de gaz autour de l’appareil, il y a risque d’incendie.
• S’assurer que le tuyau d’évacuation du condensat est correctement branché.
Si le tuyau d’évacuation n’est pas correctement branché, les éventuelles fuites d’eau risquent de mouiller
le mobilier.
• Ne pas surcharger l'unité (en fluide frigorigène).
Cet appareil est préchargé en usine. Une charge trop importante risque de provoquer une surcharge
électrique ou d’endommager le compresseur.
• S’assurer que le panneau supérieurde l’appareil est remis en place après l’installation ou l’entretien.
Avec un panneau mal fixé l’appareil va fonctionner bruyamment.

Veuillez vous assurer que les points suivants soient faits :
• Vérifier la pente pour l’écoulement du condensat, comme
indiqué en Figure B.
• Laisser un espace de dégagement, comme indiqué en
Figure C, pour faciliter l’entretien et assurer un flux d’air
optimal.
• L’unité intérieure doit être installée de telle manière qu’il
n’y ait pas interférence entre le flux d’air froid et la re-
prise d’air chaud.
• Ne pas installer l’unité intérieure à en endroit directement
exposé au soleil. L’emplacement doit être choisi loin
des portes et permettre la pose des tuyauteries
frigorifiques et d’évacuation du condensat.
Etude Preliminaire Du Site
• L’alimentation électrique et l’installation doivent être
conformes à la réglementation locale (p.ex. agréé EDF).
• Les fluctuations de tension du réseau doivent rester dans
la limite de ±10% de la tension nominale. Le climatiseur
ne doit pas partager les lignes d’alimentation électrique
avec des transformateurs de soudage, qui risquent de
causer d’importantes fluctuations.
• S’assurer que l’emplacement de l’appareil convient pour
le câblage et la tuyauterie.
Montage Standard
Assurez-vous que le plafond est suffisamment solide pour
supporter le poids de l’appareil. Positionner les tringles de
suspente (consoles de support mural pour un appareil au sol),
et vérifier si elles sont bien alignées avec l’appareil. S’assurer
également que les tringles sont bien fixées et que la base de
l’appareil est à niveau dans les deux directions horizontales,
en tenant compte de l’inclinaison recommandée pour
l’évacuation du condensat (voir Figure B).

• L'emplacement doit être bien ventilé de façon à ce que
l'appareil distribue la totalité de l'air à un niveau de
température plus bas.
• L’emplacement doit pouvoir supporter le poids de l’unité
extérieure et isoler du bruit et des vibrations.
• L’emplacement doit être protégé de la lumière directe
du soleil. Installer un auvent si nécessaire. Voir Figure
I.
• S’assurer qu’il n’y a pas d’obstruction sur le passage de
l’air aspiré et refoulé de l’appareil. Retirer tout obstacle
qui pourrait bloquer la reprise ou le refoulement d’air.

• Installer le groupe de condensation extérieur de telle
manière que l’air chaud qu’il dégage ne puisse être repris
par un autre appareil (interférence d’air chaud). Prévoir
un espace suffisant autour de l’appareil pour faciliter
