l
Mother’s milk is the best nutrition for babies. Mini Electric gives you and your baby
optimal support during the breastfeeding period. The attractive small electric breastpump
is especially suitable for occasional pumping at home or on the go.
When using electrical devices, basic safety precautions should always be followed,
including the following:
Read all instructions before use.
• Use the product only for its intended use as described in this instruction manual.
• Only use the mains adapter that comes with the Mini Electric Breastpump.
• Make sure the voltage of the mains adapter is compatible with the power source.
• Plug the mains adapter into Mini Electric Breastpump first and then into the wall socket.
• Always unplug electrical devices immediately after using.
• The product should never be left unattended when plugged into a power source.
• Separation from the mains is only assured through the disconnection of the mains
adapter from the wall socket outlet.
• Keep the mains adapter away from heated surfaces.
• Never operate an electrical device if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working
properly, if it has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water.
• Do not use outdoors.
• Keep appliance dry and do not place in direct sunlight.
• Do not get the product wet.
• Do not use while bathing or showering.
Indications For Use
The Mini Electric Breastpump is a powered breastpump:
• To be used by lactating women to express and collect milk from their breast during
absences from the baby (e.g. an evening out from baby, working part-time).
• To relieve engorgement.
• For home use and on the go.

• Do not place in or drop motor unit into water or other liquid.
• Do not store or use this product where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink.
• Do not spray or pour liquid directly onto the pump.
• Do not reach for any electrical device if it has fallen into water. Unplug immediately.
• Use Medela original accessories only.
• Check pump kit components for wear or damage.
• This is a single user product. Use by more than one person may present a health
risk and voids the warranty.
• Pump only with the motor in an upright position.
• Do not use while sleeping or overly drowsy.
• Supervision is necessary when this product is used in the vicinity of children.
• If problems or pain occur, consult your lactation consultant or physician.
• Equipment not suitable for use in the presence of a flammable anaesthetic mixture with
air or with oxygen or nitrous oxide.
• Portable and mobile radio frequency communications equipment can affect the Mini
Electric Breastpump.
• The Mini Electric Breastpump needs special precautions regarding EMC
(Electromagnetic compatibility) and needs to be installed and put into service according
to the EMC information provided in these instructions for use.
• There are no user-serviceable parts inside the Mini Electric. Do not attempt to repair the
Mini Electric Breastpump yourself.

To install the batteries, slide off the cover of the battery
compartment.
Insert the batteries in the correct position as indicated inside
the battery compartment and slide on the cover back into
place (AA Mignon LR6).
The batteries do not need to be removed if the mains adap-
ter is used for pumping.

Be comfortably seated and relax. Use a footrest, when pumping or when feeding your
baby. Elevating your feet puts you into proper sitting position to avoid stress on the lower
back and perineum.
Center your breastshield over your nipple.
Do not tilt or overfill bottles when pumping.

Insert the metal plug on the end of the mains adapter cord
into the hole on the side of the motor unit.
Plug the electrical connector on the end of mains adapter
cord into power jack (3 V DC).

Choosing the right size of Breastshield
A correctly fitted breastshield avoids compression of any milk ducts during pumping
to ensure optimal breast emptying and maximum milk output.
Your breastshield is the right size if your answer to the following questions is «Yes»:
• Is your nipple moving freely in the tunnel?
• Is minimal or no areolar tissue being pulled into the tunnel of the breastshield?
• Do you see a gentle, rhythmical motion in the breast with each cycle of the pump?
• Do you feel the breast emptying all over?
• Is your nipple pain-free?
If your answer to any of the above questions is «No», try a larger (or smaller) breastshield.

Set the vacuum regulator to minimum and switch on the
breastpump by pushing the slide switch upwards.
Adjust the vacuum to your Maximum Comfort VacuumTM.
This is the highest vacuum you can use and still feel com-
fortable (different for every mother). To find your Maximum
Comfort Vacuum increase vacuum until pumping feels slightly
uncomfortable (not painful), then decrease slightly.
Research has shown that you will pump more effi-
ciently – meaning get more milk in less time – when
pumping at Maximum Comfort VacuumTM.
Once finished pumping, switch off the breastpump, unplug
it, and disassemble the pump kit items. Close the bottle and
store it for later use.

Cleaning and Hygiene

• Use drinking water quality for any of the following described
cleaning procedures.
• Clean parts immediately after use to avoid dry up of milk residues
and to prevent from growth of bacteria.
• Disassemble all parts prior to cleaning. Especially be sure to
remove the yellow valve head from the breastshield and separate
the white valve membrane from the valve head.
Follow these cleaning instructions unless you are told otherwise by your healthcare
professional.

• Disassemble, wash and rinse all parts of your pump kit that
come in contact with the breast and milk (a+b+c+d+f+g+h),
except motor unit.
• Place parts in a saucepan of sufficient capacity.
• Fill with cold water until the parts are well covered. Optionally,
a tea spoon of citric acid may be added to avoid a build-up of
limescale.
• Heat it up and allow to boil for 5 minutes.
• Remove from stove and drain water off.
• Dry parts with a clean towel.
Alternatively, the disassembled parts can be sanitized in top rack
of dishwasher or steam-sterilized.
Note: Food colorings may discolor components which will not
affect performance.
• Disassemble and handwash all parts of your pump kit that come in
contact with the breast and milk (a+b+c+d+f+g+h) in warm, soapy
water (except motor unit).
• Rinse in clear water.
• Dry parts with a clean towel.
• Use a damp (not wet) cloth to wipe the motor unit after each use.
After cleaning, when parts are not in use, put in a clean zip lock
bag or store in a container with lid. Alternatively, the parts can be
wrapped in a clean paper or cloth towel.

• When freezing do not fill bottles/bags more than 3/4 full to allow space for expansion.
• Label bottles/bags with the date of pumping.
• Do not store breastmilk in the door of the refrigerator.
• In order to preserve the components of the breastmilk, thaw in the refrigerator overnight
or by holding the bottle/bag under running warm water (max. 37° C).
• Gently shake the bottle/bag to blend any fat that has separated.
• Do not thaw frozen breastmilk in a microwave oven or in a pan of boiling water
(danger of burning).
• Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before touching the
breast and pump parts.
• Avoid touching the inside of bottles and lids.
• Clean the breast and surrounding area with a damp cloth.
• Do not use soap or alcohol which can dry the skin and cause cracked
nipples.

The unit is made of various metal and plastics. Before disposal, the device is to be rendered
unusable and it must not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste in accordance with
local regulations. Use your local return and collection system for waste electrical and
electronic equipment (incl. batteries). Improper disposal may have harmful effects in the
environment and on public health.

voids the warranty. 6 months warranty for the unit from the date of purchase, excluding
pump kit. The manufacturer is not liable for any damage or consequential damage caused
by incorrect operation, inappropriate usage or use by unauthorized persons.

optimal während der Stillzeit. Die attraktive kleine elektrische Brustpumpe eignet sich
besonders gut für gelegentliches Abpumpen zu Hause oder unterwegs.
Bei Verwendung elektrischer Geräte ist stets auf die Einhaltung der grundlegenden
Sicherheitsvorkehrungen – einschliesslich der Folgenden – zu achten:
Lesen Sie bitte alle Anweisungen vor dem Gebrauch.
• Das Produkt ausschliesslich für den in dieser Gebrauchsanweisung beschriebenen
Verwendungszweck benutzen.
• Ausschliesslich den mit der Mini Electric Brustpumpe gelieferten Netzadapter
verwenden.
• Sicherstellen, dass die Spannung des Netzadapters mit der Stromquelle kompatibel ist.
• Den Netzadapter zuerst in die Mini Electric Brustpumpe und dann in die Steckdose
einstecken.
• Nach dem Gebrauch den Netzadapter sofort herausziehen.
• Das Gerät niemals unbeaufsichtigt lassen, wenn es an eine Stromquelle angeschlos-
sen ist.
• Die Trennung vom Versorgungsnetz ist nur durch Trennen des Netzadapters von der

Indikationen für die Anwendung
Die Mini Electric Brustpumpe ist eine elektrische Brustpumpe:
• Für stillende Mütter zum Abpumpen und Auffangen von Muttermilch während
Trennungen vom Baby (z.B. ein Abend getrennt vom Baby, Mutter die Teilzeit
arbeitet).
• Zur Linderung bei Milchstau.
• Zum Gebrauch zu Hause und unterwegs.

• Gerät nicht im Freien verwenden.
• Gerät trocken halten und nicht direktem Sonnenlicht aussetzen.
• Das Gerät nicht nass werden lassen.
• Gerät nicht während dem Baden oder Duschen benützen.
• Den Motor nicht in Wasser oder andere Flüssigkeiten legen oder fallen lassen.
• Das Gerät nicht an einem Ort aufbewahren oder verwenden, wo es in eine
Badewanne oder ein Waschbecken fallen oder hineingezogen werden kann.
• Keine Flüssigkeit direkt auf die Pumpe sprühen oder schütten.
• Niemals nach einem ins Wasser gefallenen elektrischen Gerät greifen, ohne zuvor
den Stecker herauszuziehen.
• Nur Originalzubehör von Medela verwenden.
• Die Teile des Pumpsets auf Abnutzung oder Beschädigung kontrollieren.

Zum Einlegen der Batterien ziehen Sie den Deckel des
Batteriefachs heraus.
Die Batterien in der korrekten Position wie im Batteriefach
angegeben einlegen und den Deckel wieder zurückschieben
(AA Mignon LR6).
Beim Abpumpen mit dem Netzadapter müssen die Batterien
nicht herausgenommen werden.

Setzen Sie sich bequem und entspannt hin. Stellen Sie Ihre Füsse beim Abpumpen oder
Stillen Ihres Babys auf eine Still-Fussstütze. Hierdurch nehmen Sie die richtige Sitzposition
ein um eine Überlastung des unteren Rückens und des Damms zu vermeiden.
Zentrieren Sie die Brusthaube über Ihrer Brustwarze.
Halten Sie die Flasche während des Abpumpens nicht schräg
und überfüllen Sie sie nicht.

Wahl der richtigen Brusthauben-Grösse
Eine korrekt sitzende Brusthaube verhindert das Abdrücken der Milchgänge während dem
Abpumpen und ermöglicht so ein optimales Entleeren der Brust und maximale Effizienz.
Ihre Brusthaube hat die richtige Grösse, wenn Sie folgende Fragen mit «Ja» beantworten können:
• Bewegt sich Ihre Brustwarze frei im Tunnel?
• Wird kein oder nur wenig Gewebe des Brustwarzenhofs in den Tunnel der Brusthaube
gezogen?
• Sehen Sie sanfte, rhythmische Bewegungen der Brust bei jedem Pumpzyklus?
• Spüren Sie, wie sich die Brust überall entleert?
• Ist Ihre Brustwarze schmerzfrei?
Wählen Sie bitte eine grössere (oder kleinere) Brusthaube, wenn Sie eine dieser Fragen mit
«Nein» beantworten.

Stellen Sie den Vakuumregler auf Minimum und schalten Sie die
Brustpumpe durch Schieben des Schalters nach oben ein.
Stellen Sie das Vakuum auf Ihr Maximum Comfort Vacuum™ ein.
Das ist das für Sie höchste Vakuum, bei dem sich das Abpumpen
noch angenehm anfühlt (ist für jede Mutter verschieden). Zur
Bestimmung Ihres Maximum Comfort Vacuum erhöhen Sie das
Vakuum, bis sich das Abpumpen leicht unangenehm anfühlt (nicht
schmerzhaft), dann verringern Sie es ein wenig.
Die Forschung hat gezeigt, dass Sie effizienter abpumpen –
das heisst Sie erhalten mehr Milch in weniger Zeit – wenn
Sie in der Abpumpphase bei Maximum Comfort Vacuum™
abpumpen.
Wenn das Abpumpen beendet ist, die Brustpumpe ausschalten,
den Stecker herausziehen und das Pumpset auseinander neh-
men. Die Flasche schliessen und sie für späteren Gebrauch
aufbewahren.
Standfuss verwenden um ein Umkippen der Flasche zu vermeiden.

Reinigung und Hygiene

• Verwenden Sie Trinkwasserqualität für alle nachfolgend
beschriebenen Reinigungsverfahren.
• Reinigen Sie die Teile sofort nach dem Abpumpen, um das
Eintrocknen von Milchresten und das Wachstum von Bakterien
zu verhindern.
• Vor dem Reinigen müssen alle Teile auseinander genommen
werden. Besonders darauf achten, dass der gelbe Ventilkopf
von der Brusthaube und die weisse Ventilmembrane vom
Ventilkopf getrennt werden.
Befolgen Sie diese Reinigungsanweisungen, es sei denn, Ihr medizinisches Fachpersonal
hat Ihnen etwas anderes empfohlen.
Wichtig
Vor dem
ersten Gebrauch
und einmal
täglich
• Alle Teile Ihres Pumpsets, die mit der Brust oder der Milch in
Berührung kommen (a+b+c+d+f+g+h – mit Ausnahme des
Motors), auseinander nehmen, waschen und spülen.
• Danach Teile in einen ausreichend grossen Topf legen.
• Mit kaltem Wasser auffüllen, bis alle Teile bedeckt sind. Um
Kalkablagerungen zu verhindern kann ein Teelöffel Zitronensäure
hinzugefügt werden.
• Wasser erhitzen und während 5 Minuten kochen lassen.
• Vom Herd wegnehmen und Wasser abgiessen.
• Teile mit einem sauberen Tuch abtrocknen.
Wahlweise können die auseinander genommenen Teile im oberen
Korb der Abwaschmaschine desinfiziert oder mit Dampf sterilisiert
werden.
Hinweis: Farbstoffe von Lebensmitteln können Teile verfärben, was
jedoch keinen Einfluss auf die Funktion hat.
• Alle Teile Ihres Pumpsets, die mit der Brust oder der Milch in
Berührung kommen (a+b+c+d+f+g+h – mit Ausnahme des
Motors), auseinander nehmen und von Hand mit warmem
Seifenwasser reinigen.
• Mit klarem Wasser spülen.
• Teile mit einem sauberen Tuch abtrocknen.
• Den Motor der Brustpumpe nach jedem Gebrauch mit einem
feuchten (keinesfalls nassen) Tuch abwischen.
Nach dem Reinigen, wenn die Teile nicht gebraucht werden, in
einem sauberen, verschliessbaren Plastikbeutel oder in einem
Behälter mit Deckel aufbewahren. Die Teile können auch in ein
sauberes Papier- oder Stofftuch gewickelt werden.

• Milchflasche/Beutel sanft schütteln um eventuell abgesetztes Fett wieder mit der Milch
zu vermischen.
• Gefrorene Milch nie im Mikrowellenofen oder in einem Topf mit kochendem Wasser
auftauen (Verbrennungsgefahr).
• Hände gründlich mit Wasser und Seife waschen, bevor Sie die
Brust und die Pumpenteile anfassen.
• Vermeiden Sie es die Innenseite von Flaschen und Deckeln zu
berühren.
• Die Brust und den umgebenden Bereich mit einem feuchten
Tuch reinigen.
• Weder Seife noch Alkohol verwenden, da dies trockene Haut
und rissige Brustwarzen verursachen kann.

Entsorgung

Das Gerät besteht aus verschiedenen Metallen und Kunststoffen. Das Gerät ist vor der
Entsorgung unbrauchbar zu machen und es darf nicht als Siedlungsabfall, sondern muss
gemäss lokalen Vorschriften entsorgt werden. Am Wohnort eingerichtete Rückgabe- und
Sammelsysteme für die Entsorgung von elektrischen und elektronischen Geräten (inkl.
Akku) benützen. Nicht fachgerechte Entsorgung kann schädliche Auswirkung auf die

Dieses Produkt ist für eine einzige Benutzerin bestimmt. Die Benutzung durch verschie-
dene Personen kann ein Gesundheitsrisiko darstellen und führt daher zum Erlöschen des
Garantieanspruchs. 6 Monate Garantie auf das Gerät ab Kaufdatum, Pumpset ausge-
schlossen. Der Hersteller haftet nicht für irgendwelche Schäden oder Folgeschäden, die
durch fehlerhaften Betrieb, unsachgemässen Gebrauch oder Gebrauch durch unbefugte
Personen entstanden sind.

Kontrollieren
• Netzstrom/Akku vorhanden ist
• das Gerät eingeschaltet ist
Stellen Sie sicher
• dass die Brusthaube gut anliegend auf der Brust aufliegt.
• dass alle Verbindungen richtig zusammengesetzt sind.
• dass die weisse Ventilmembrane flach auf dem gelben
Ventilkopf aufliegt. Vergewissern Sie sich, dass der Ventilkopf
und die Membrane sauber und unversehrt sind. Siehe
«Montage-Anleitung».
• dass der Motor sicher in der Brusthaube eingerastet ist.
Wenn versehentlich Milch in die Pumpe gelangt
• Die Pumpe abschalten und den Netzstecker herausziehen.
• Den Motor von der Brusthaube trennen.
• Allfällige Milchspuren auf dem Motor und der Brusthaube abwi-
schen und den Motor während mindestens 30 Sekunden laufen
lassen.
• Wenn notwendig, das Pumpset entsprechend den Reinigungs-
anweisungen «Vor dem ersten Gebrauch und einmal täglich»
reinigen.
