3.2 Transport and installation
In order to avoid damage to the appliance or life-threatening injuries during shipping of
the installation, the following points must be observed:
• The shipping operations may only be carried out by qualified persons who observe
the safety instructions.
In order to ensure safe shipping, the installation parts are placed on a special four-sided
wooden frame.
Incoming goods should only arrive on these wooden frames. The packing is specifically
designed to allow the appliances to be moved safely and securely using two pallet
trucks.
Move only with pallet trucks !!!
It is possible to negotiate gentle curves if the pallet trucks are not positioned completely
under the wooden bearers.
ATTENTION

Electric motors may project downwards from the underside of the appliance. Care must
always be taken not to damage these.
Severe damage to motor & frame
The forks of the pallet trucks are lowered when the desired position of the appliance is
reached (but must remain under the bearers). The machine is now standing on the
wooden bearers of the packing. There is no load on the foot cleats.
All the screws and bolts of the packing are now removed.
e.g. Remove these and other screws and bolts.
Leave for the moment all the wooden bearers under the machine.
The following screw-drivers and sockets are needed.
Torx TX 20 Torx TX 25 10 mm socket
These screw drivers and sockets are available in all tool shops.
A reversible electric drill with a lockable chuck is also necessary.
When all the fasteners on the transport packing have been removed, the appliance is
again lifted on both sides with the pallet truck.
All the large bearers running along the length of the appliance can now be easily
withdrawn.

The appliance is next lowered onto the floor and the pallet trucks removed. You must
take great care to ensure that the appliance is not jolted when it is lowered
otherwise the foot cleats could be damaged beyond repair.
Please also ensure that the cleats are extended uniformly so that one set of cleats is not
loaded more than the others. You can check the loading by means of the force needed to
turn the cleats with a spanner.
An open-ended 27 mm
spanner is needed to
adjust the cleats of the
appliance.
If it is necessary to move the appliance along a wall, the appliance can be pushed along
the wall on its cleats for a limited distance. (Be careful of gratings in the floor and
changes in height.).
The appliance can also be easily moved flush to the wall by leaving the small longitudinal
bearers under the appliance and moving the appliance backwards as shown in the
picture.
Position the pallet truck close to the frame.
Push the small
longitudinal bearers
to the left and right
of the frame

Important: Never move the appliance like this.
Lifting the appliance by the middle of the appliance frame will inevitably damage the
appliance. A wooden batten should always be used to distribute the weight.
If it is not possible to move the appliance with a pallet truck as described earlier, the
longitudinal bearers can be removed by gently tilting the appliance after all the fasteners
in the transport packing have been removed.
When the appliance is finally positioned, you must ensure that all the cleats carry
approximately the same weight.
An uneven distribution of weight can cause individual cleats to break.
You can check the loading by means of the force needed to turn the cleats with a
spanner.

An open-ended 27 mm
spanner is needed to
adjust the cleats of the
appliance.
IMPORTANT!
Horizontal adjustment of the machine by means of the vertically
adjustable feet (spanner/wrench size 27) must be done with
care to ensure that the weight of the machine is evenly
distributed on the cleats. This is absolutely essential in order to avoid
displacement or stresses caused by loading on one side. These stresses
can cause, for example, the vertical doors to jam or can prevent them from
being water-tight when closed.
• Please also read the chapter on “General safety instructions".
3.3 Installation and assembly
MEIKO has prepared an assembly diagram showing the machine dimensions and the
connected loads as well as the energy consumption in detail.
Assembly is completed by reference to the assembly diagram and, in general, by
following the instructions of a trained MEIKO engineer.
The installation must o n l y be carried out and connected by suitably qualified
personnel.
We accept no liability for connections carried out by unqualified personnel.
After unpacking, position the appliance as indicated in the assembly diagram and as the
dimensions allow.
The appliance must be level and straight when erected.
If the machine is delivered divided in a number of parts, the joints must be thoroughly
cleaned with acetone and sealed on the inside with silicone (Sista F 103; in paint shops
Terostat 1 S grey). A sealing strip must be applied to the exterior. It should be recessed
by about 1 mm and is also intended to improve the optical appearance.
3.4 Floor load from the dish-washing machine
The floor load per foot (with a loaded surface of D=40 mm per foot) is:
• for dish-washers without a heat pump: approximately 150 kg
• for dish-washers with a heat pump: approximately 200 kg
3.5 Instructions for the disposal of the packaging material

3.6 Connection to the electricity supply.
Work on the electrical part of the machine may only be undertaken by specialist
personnel.
The wiring diagram is located in the switch cabinet. This wiring diagram is part of the
machine and therefore must not be removed.
The manufacturer’s plate with the connected electrical loads is located inside the switch
cabinet.
General Electrical Regulations must be observed when connecting the machine to the
power supply.
Attention: The electrical connection data,
voltage, type of current, output can be seen on the
manufacturers’ plates on the machine.
For the supply connection use a 4-pole terminal strip (L1, L2, L3, GND).

3.7 Fresh water connection
The General Instructions apply.
Fresh water connections must be carried out in accordance with DIN 1988, the DVGW
(The German Gas and Water Industry Association) specification W 503 and with regard
to local requirements. You must particularly check whether, for example, a pipe
disconnector or an air gap is required. This also applies to hose sprays, cleaning hoses
etc.
The connections must be carried out only by authorized qualified personnel in
accordance with local requirements.
The water quality must also comply with the requirements of the Commercial Dish-
Washing Association. See also the instructions on the assembly diagram.
The machine is installed ready for operation, i.e. only the cables and pipes need to be
connected to the machine.
The machine should be provided with a soft cold water inlet pipe and a soft hot water
inlet pipe. (Exception: If there is only one cold water inlet pipe available). The static
pressure when the water is flowing should be at least 2.5 bar but not more than 6 bar. If
the pressure is higher, even for a short time, it is necessary to incorporate a pressure
reducer into the system and protect the system by means of a pressure relief valve.
− Hot water inlet pipe
The purpose of this is to fill the wash tank; it should be adequately dimensioned so that
the tank is filled in a short time. The water temperature should not exceed 60 °C (if the
temperature is higher, cold water must be added using a mixer valve). The hardness of
the water should be less than 5° dH.
− Cold water inlet pipe
− This water operates the clean water rinse. The cold water supply pipe is connected to
the exhaust air heat recuperator. A pressure reducer which allows the quantity of
additional water to be set and held at a constant level must be incorporated into this
flow system.
Heat recuperation is efficient at a water inlet temperature of about 10° C. (It is only
necessary to introduce a booster pump if the flow pressure falls below about 1.5 bar).
The hardness of the water should be below 4° dH (otherwise a water softener is
necessary).
A fresh water air gap is generally fitted in newer models built from about January
1999. This regulates the quantity of water i.e. by holding the flow constant with the aid
of an orifice plate which is located on the down-stream side of the booster pump. The
quantity of water flowing past this point can be changed by changing the various
plates which are available.
− Connection for machines with water-controlled steam valves.
An admission pressure of water into the building of at least 4 bar but not exceeding 6
bar is needed to operate the water controlled steam valve. An additional pressure
reducer can be necessary here depending on the conditions in the building.

3.8 Waste water connection
The waste water connection must be carried out in accordance with the requirements of
DIN 1986 and all applicable local regulations.
All discharge pipes for water from the machine must be connected to the kitchen waste
water system via an adequately dimensioned odour trap. When selecting materials for
pipes, sealants etc, you must bear in mind that the temperature of the water discharged
from the machine can be 60°C. Furthermore, the pH values can lie between 3 and 12
depending on the nature and concentration of the detergent; in other words, the materials
must be resistant to both acids and alkalis.
3.9 Hot steam, hot water from the pumps
The general instructions must be observed when connecting the steam pipes.
The machine is installed ready for operation, i.e. only the cables and pipes need to be
connected to the machine.
Important !!!
The installation of pipework and fittings is specially designed for
a particular nominal pressure range. You must ensure that the
operating pressure in the buildings steam system does not
exceed the permissible nominal pressure of the fittings and
machine components (information in the assembly diagram).
The connecting pipes for the supply and return flows must not be interchanged (the flow
direction can be recognised by the dirt traps).
3.10 Exhaust air connection of the appliance
The exhaust air connection must be carried out in accordance with all applicable local
regulations.
The hot, moist air from the machine must be removed from the washing-up kitchen. The
ventilation duct must be installed so that it is corrosion-resistant, water-tight and free from
water. In order to achieve efficient extraction, you must ensure that the overpressure on
the machine ducts or the negative pressure of the building is adequate.
Important !!!
The exhaust air connection of machines with heat recovery
system must be made in such a way that the parts of the
dishwashing machine containing water are not damaged in frosty
weather. If this is not possible, frost protection guard or a frost
protection flap must be installed.

3.11 Dosing units
Installation of dosing units for detergent and rinse agent:
When operating the machine it is necessary to use an industrial detergent and rinse
agent. You may only use detergents and rinse agents approved by the relevant authority
and which are also suitable for dish-washing appliances. The safety instructions relating
to their handling, dosing, storing and use must be particularly observed.
The dosing of the detergent and rinse agent should be done by suitable dosing
equipment; the relevant regulations (DVGW, UVV, VDE, DIN 1988) must be observed
when installing such equipment. You must check here whether special regulations to
prevent reverse suction apply. Under no circumstances must detergent or rinse agent be
allowed to enter the water mains.
3.12 Detergent spraying system
If a direct detergent spray system is used such as is offered by a number of chemical
suppliers, special safety precautions must be taken because of the aggressive nature of
the highly concentrated detergent. It is particularly important to take precautions to
prevent the detergent spray from escaping when the dish-washers vertical doors are

5 Machine settings for initial commissioning by the
service engineer.
5.1 Commissioning
In order to avoid damage to the installation and the injury and death of persons when
commissioning the installation, the following points must be observed without fail:
• The installation may only be commissioned by suitably qualified persons observing the
safety instructions.
• Before initial startup, check that any tools and parts not belonging to the installation
have been removed.
• Activate all the safety systems and magnetic door closers before commissioning.
• Please also read the chapter on “General safety instructions".
The technicians installing the installation will provide training and carry out
commissioning. The operator may only use the installation after training has been
provided.
5.2 Works to be carried out before commissioning
All the points in this section must be observed thoroughly before initial commissioning.
− water-carrying pipes
All pipes must be thoroughly flushed out. The heating system must not be switched on
when this is done (remove the fuses) in order to prevent the heating elements from
operating when the system is dry. All dirt collectors must be cleaned afterwards.
− Steam pipes
The servo-valves must be checked to ensure that they have been correctly evacuated
or emptied of water (only at the relevant pressure). (When the valves are turned off,
water must be discharged through the connection “R”). All bolted and flanged
connections must be tightened after the first time the appliance is heated.
− Electrical connection
Check that electrical terminals in the switch cabinet are firmly in position, tighten if
necessary; check that electrical plugs/jacks and especially electronic parts are firmly in
position.
− Internal regions of the machine
Ensure that there are no foreign bodies inside the machine (e.g. cleaning rags, loose
bolts/washers/nuts, tools, packaging materials etc.).
Important !!!
Ensure that no danger of jamming or entangling occurs where
moving parts pass close to fixed parts (e.g. rails, transport
cradles, water deflectors and others).
5.3 Setting the temperature of the wash tank, clean water rinsing,
drying
5.3.1The wash tank temperature (setting) should be about 55 – 60°C.
A clear distinction must be made here between

1. Electrically heated and
2. Steam heated machines
Point 1. – electrically heated machines
A temperature regulator monitors the operating temperature which has been previously
set. The aim temperature is normally pre-set at about 60° C in the factory. In the case of
machines with fully electronic controls (CC Clean Control) the aim temperature is set in
the service operating field of the membrane touch pad (see additional manual
“Description of the CC Membrane Touch Pad”).
In the case of machines with purely electro-mechanical controls or CE controls (Control-
Einfach = CE), the temperature sensor is directly below the wash tank. The required aim
temperature for the tank is set on a scale by a rotating knob on the thermostat.
Point 2. – steam heated machines
The was tank aim temperature is set in the same manner as for the electrically heated
machines (see above). However, the heat supply is controlled by solenoid valves
(depending on the pressure stage and thermal output) or by what are called „pilot valves“
which control the steam or hot water valves using water or air pressure as auxiliary
energy.
5.3.2Temperature of the clean rinse water (settings)
The temperature of the clean rinse water should be between 82° and 85° C. A distinction
must be made between
1) electrically and
2) steam heated
machines with respect to temperature settings. (Settings should only be made when the
machine is at operating temperature as exhaust air heat recuperation does not operate
when the machine is cold).
Point 1) – electrically heated machines
As the electrical thermal output of the flow heater is adjusted at the factory and is
constant, the temperature of the clean rinse water can only be changed if the quantity of
water flowing through the heater is changed i.e. a reduced flow means increased heating
of the clean rinse water and an increased flow means reduced heating of the clean rinse
water. The pressure reducer is used to adjust the flow rate until the required clean water
rinse temperature of about 85° C is reached. In the case of machines with a built-in air
gap for incoming water, the quantity of water is maintained at a constant level by orifice
plates of different sizes.
The heater must now operate continuously i.e. as soon as the clean water rinsing (KSP)
is in operation it must no longer switch off due to over-heating. The thermal output is
matched to the flow quantity.
Point 2) – Steam heated machines
The temperature is set on steam heated machines in two steps.
• The required quantity of water for clean rinsing (indications in the installation plan) is
first set with the help of the pressure reducer; (a stop watch and a measuring beaker
are needed for this. The quantity of water which flows in one minute from one KSP
nozzle is multiplied by the total number of upper and lower KSP nozzles and then
multiplied again by 60. This calculation produces the KSP water consumption in litres
per hour).
• In the second step, the quantity of steam is set by the regulating valve until the KSP
water reaches a temperature of about 85° C. The heating equipment must now
operate continuously i.e. as long as the F-NSP is operating the heating must not
switch itself off due to overheating.

5.3.3 Drying zone temperatures (setting)
The nozzle temperatures should reach about 70° to 75° C. A distinction must be made
between
1) electrical and
2) steam-heated drying
Point 1):
For electrically heated drying, the thermal output (6 or 9 kW depending on the model) is
adjusted to suit the recycled quantity of air and cannot be altered. If it should be
necessary to increase or reduce the temperature, this can only be achieved by
decreasing or increasing the flow of air sucked into the drying zone by moving the baffle
plate in the suction aperture. A reduction in the air flow increases the temperature and
vice versa.
Point 2):
If the machine has a steam-heated or pumped hot water-heated drying zone, the
temperature is set by regulating the quantity of steam or hot water. In other words, the
volume of air remains constant in such machines.
In case of machines designed to operate at pressures of up to 4 bar maximum, the
quantity of steam can be adjusted using a throttle slide until the required nozzle
temperature is reached.
5.4 Basket conveyor overload cut-out
The overload safety switch for the basket conveyor (the drive is in the sub-structure of the
feeding section) should be set so that the cut-out just fails to operate when the machine is
fully loaded.
5.5 Fume and water vapour extraction
The setting slides (if provided) for fume and water vapour extraction (Figure 7.9) should
be opened just wide enough for the fume and vapour emitted at the entry and exit tunnel
to be reduced to a tolerable level. If the opening in the slides is too high the machine will
suffer an unnecessary heat loss. The heat regeneration becomes less effective if the
slides are fully closed.

5.6 Connection and setting for cold water supply
(This section only applies if there is no hot water connection for the machine).
You must observe the setting instructions (see below).
A special form of switching is used during the filling and heating phase to reduce the
wash tank heating time before the commencement of washing.
Part of the water required for filling the tank is diverted and lead through the F-KSP
system’s flow heater (WE) to pre-heat it. This means that the wash tank is filled with cold
water from the tank inlet pipe and hot water from the F-KSP system at the same time.
During this phase (the heat recuperator (WR) is not yet working) the thermal output of the
WE is increased by the missing output of the WR. (This output is switched off during the
washing operation).
Setting instruction: a volume control valve (1) is built into the pipework leading to the tank
filling pipe. This valve (1) must be closed to the point where sufficient water is diverted
into the rinse water pipework during filling.
This diverted water (the quantity can be set by closing the valve (1)) which is now heated
in the water heater must be sufficiently large to ensure that a temperature of 80° C is not
exceeded.
Important !!!
If the valve (1) is opened too wide, the water will not flow through the WE of the KSP
system but take the line of least resistance through the tank filling pipe with the result that
the WE heating elements will inevitably burn out.
