Use in children and teenagers (2 to 17 years old)
No formal clinical studies have been conducted in children or teenagers. However there is some
clinical data available suggesting that the safety profile in children and teenagers receiving Rebif
22 micrograms or Rebif 44 micrograms three times per week is similar to that seen in adults.
Use in children (below 2 years of age)
Rebif is not recommended for use in children below 2 years of age.
Method of administration
Rebif is intended for subcutaneous (under the skin) injection.
The first injection(s) must be performed under the supervision of an appropriately qualified
healthcare professional. After receiving adequate training, you, a family member, friend or carer
can use Rebif cartridges with your device to administer the medicine at home.
The cartridge is to be used either with the RebiSmart electronic injection device or the
RebiSlide manual pen injector device. Discuss with your doctor which device is the most
suitable for you. If you have poor vision you should not use RebiSlide unless someone with
good eyesight can provide support.
Full instructions for use are provided with your device. Please follow these carefully.
Short instructions on how to use Rebif cartridges with each device are given below.
Before you start
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
Remove the Rebif cartridge from the blister pack by peeling back the plastic covering.
Check (just after removing from the refrigerator) that the cartridge is not accidentally frozen in
the pack or inside the device. Only clear to opalescent solution without particles and without
visible signs of deterioration should be used.
To place the cartridge in the device and perform the injection follow the instruction manual
(Instructions for Use) provided with your device.
Where to inject Rebif

Choose an injection site. Your doctor will advise you on the
possible injection sites (good sites include the upper thighs and
the lower abdomen). It is recommended that you keep track of
and rotate your injection sites, so that one area is not injected
too frequently in order to minimise the risk of injection site
necrosis.
NOTE: do not use any areas in which you feel lumps, firm
knots, or pain; talk to your doctor or healthcare professional
about anything you find.
Before the injection, use an alcohol wipe to clean the skin at
the injection site. Let the skin dry. If a bit of alcohol is left on
the skin, you may get a stinging sensation.
How to inject Rebif
Your doctor will tell you how to choose the correct dose of 22 micrograms. Please read also the
instructions in the manual provided with your device.
Your doctor may have prescribed you RebiSmart or RebiSlide device. If you have been
prescribed RebiSmart please go to the section “If you use RebiSmart”. Otherwise go to the
section “If you use RebiSlide”.

If you use RebiSmart

Please ensure that the dose displayed on the screen of the device
corresponds to the prescribed dose of 22

Place RebiSmart at a right angle (90°) to the skin.

Press the injection button.
a green light.

Wait until the green light switches off. This tells you that the injection is
completed.

Remove RebiSmart from the injection site.
If you use RebiSlide

Please make sure that the dose
window of the device is 0.5 mL (which
corresponds to the prescribed dose of
22
micrograms) before the injection.

Insert the needle into the skin as you have been told by your doctor.

Hold RebiSlide firmly and slide the release button which is on the side of
the device.

Hold RebiSlide in place until “0” appears in the dose window, then wait
10 seconds before removing the needle from the skin.

Remove RebiSlide from the injection site.
After the injection of Rebif with either RebiSmart or RebiSlide

Remove and discard the needle according to the instruction manual provided with your device.

Gently massage the injection site with a dry cotton ball or gauze.

Store your device containing a
Rebif”.
If you have any further questions, please ask your doctor, nurse or pharmacist.
If you use more Rebif than you should
In case of overdose, contact your doctor immediately.
If you forget to use Rebif
If you miss a dose, continue to inject from the day of the next scheduled dose. Do not use
dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
If you stop using Rebif
The effects of Rebif may not be noticed immediately. Therefore you should not stop using Rebif but
continue to use it regularly to achieve the desired result. If you are uncertain about the benefits, please
consult your doctor.
You should not discontinue
the treatment without first contacting your doctor.

Bruk hos barn og ungdom (2 til 17 år)
Ingen formelle kliniske studier er utført på barn eller ungdom. Det er imidlertid noen kliniske data
tilgjengelig som antyder at sikkerhetsprofilen for barn og ungdom som får Rebif 22 mikrogram eller
Rebif 44 mikrogram tre ganger i uken, er den samme som den man ser hos voksne.
Bruk hos barn (under 2 år)
Rebif er ikke anbefalt for bruk til barn som er under 2 år.
Administrasjonsmåte
Rebif er ment for subkutan injeksjon (under huden).
De(n) første injeksjonen(e) bør foretas under veiledning av trenet helsepersonell. Etter
tilstrekkelig opplæring kan du, et familiemedlem, en venn eller omsorgsperson bruke Rebif
sylinderampuller sammen med applikatoren til å gi preparatet på en sikker måte hjemme.
Sylinderampullen skal brukes enten med RebiSmart elektronisk injeksjonsapparat eller
RebiSlide manuell injektorpenn. Diskuter med legen hvilket utstyr som er best egnet for deg.
Dersom du har dårlig syn bør du ikke bruke RebiSlide, med mindre noen med godt syn kan
hjelpe dem.
Det følger en komplett bruksanvisning med applikatoren. Følg bruksanvisningen nøye.
Nedenfor finner du en kort veiledning for bruken av Rebif sylinderampuller med den respektive
applikatoren.
Før du begynner
Vask hendene grundig med såpe og vann.
Ta sylinderampullen med Rebif ut av pakningen ved å rive av plastfilmen.
Kontroller (rett etter at du har tatt den ut av kjøleskapet) at sylinderampullen ikke har frosset i
pakningen eller inne i applikatoren. Kun klar til opaliserende oppløsning uten partikler og
synlige tegn på forringelse bør brukes.
Følg bruksanvisningen som medfølger applikatoren for å plassere sylinderampullen i
applikatoren og utføre injeksjonen.
Hvor du skal injisere Rebif

Velg et injeksjonssted. Legen din vil gi deg råd om hvor du
skal injisere (øvre delen av lårene samt nedre del av magen er
egnede steder). Du bør holde oversikt over og variere
injeksjonssted, slik at ikke ett område injiseres for ofte. Dette
for å minimere risikoen for nekroser på injeksonsstedet.
MERK! Ikke bruk steder der du kjenner klumper, harde knuter
eller smerte. Snakk med din lege eller sykepleier om du
oppdager dette.
Før injisering, desinfiser injeksjonsstedet med en spritserviett
og la det tørke. Det kan svi dersom det er litt sprit igjen på
huden.
Hvordan injisere Rebif
Legen din vil fortelle deg hvordan du velger riktig dose med 22 mikrogram. Les også
instruksjonene i bruksanvisningen som følger med applikatoren.
Din lege kan ha foreskrevet bruk av RebiSmart eller RebiSlide applikator. Hvis du har fått
foreskrevet RebiSmart, gå til pkt. “Hvis du bruker RebiSmart”. Ellers må du gå til pkt. “Hvis
du bruker RebiSlide”.

Forsikre deg om at dosen som vises på applikatorens skjerm er lik den

foreskrevne dosen på 22 mikrogram før injisering.
Plasser RebiSmart i en rett vinkel (90°) mot huden.
Trykk på injeksjonsknappen. Knappen blinker med grønt lys under
injeksjonen.
Vent til det grønne lyset går av. Det indikerer at injeksjonen er fullført.
Fjern RebiSmart fra injeksjonsstedet.
Hvis du bruker
RebiSlide

Forsikre deg om at dosen som er valgt i
doseringsvinduet på injeksjonspennen er 0,5 ml
(som er lik den foreskrevne dosen på
22 mikrogram) før injisering.

Stikk nålen igjennom huden som din lege har fortalt deg.
Hold RebiSlide bestemt og skyv utløsningsknappen som er på siden av
applikatoren.
Hold RebiSlide på plass til “0” vises i doseringsvinduet, og vent så i
10 sekunder før du trekker nålen ut av huden.
Fjern RebiSlide fra injeksjonsstedet.
Etter å ha injisert Rebif med enten RebiSmart eller RebiSlide
Fjern og kast nålen i henhold til bruksanvisning som følger med applikatoren.
Foreta deretter en forsiktig massasje på injeksjonsstedet med en tørr bomullsdott eller gasbind.
Oppbevar applikatoren med en sylinderampulle med Rebif i henhold til instruksjonene i pkt. 5
“Hvordan du oppbevarer Rebif”.
Spør lege, sykepleier eller apotek dersom du har flere spørsmål.
Dersom du tar for mye av Rebif
Dersom du får i deg en for høy dose skal du straks kontakte din lege.
Dersom du har glemt å ta Rebif
Hvis du glemmer en dose, fortsetter du som vanlig på neste injeksjonsdag. Du må ikke ta en dobbelt
dose som erstatning for en glemt dose.
Dersom du avbryter behandling med Rebif
Effekten av behandlingen merkes kanskje ikke med en gang. Du bør derfor ikke slutte å bruke Rebif,
men fortsette å bruke det regelmessig for å oppnå ønsket resultat. Hvis du er usikker på fordelene med
behandlingen, bør du ta kontakt med din lege.
Du bør ikke avbryte behandlingen uten å kontakte legen din først.
Spør lege,apotek eller sykepleier dersom du har noen spørsmål om bruken av dette legemidlet.
4. Mulige bivirkninger
Som alle legemidler kan dette legemidlet forårsake bivirkninger, men ikke alle får det.
Kontakt lege umiddelbart og slutt å bruke Rebif hvis du opplever noen av følgende bivirkninger:
Alvorlige allergiske (hypersensitivitets) reaksjoner. Dersom du like etter å ha tatt Rebif,
opplever plutselige pusteproblemer, som kan oppstå assosiert med hevelser i ansiktet, lepper,
tunge eller svelg, elveblest, kløe over hele kroppen, og en følelse av svakhet eller matthet,
kontakt lege umiddelbart eller få oppmerksomhet for rask medisinsk hjelp. Disse reaksjonene er
sjeldne (kan forekomme hos opptil 1av 1000 personer).
