Acrylic Tops
TO ADJUST THE FRONT ON 2ND AND 3RD DESIGN 1986 LATE TO 1996 ROOFS:
STEP 1.
Remove rearview mirror and trim panel (5 Phillips screws total). Remove upper covers above visors. Remove 5/16” nut
and retain visor spring clips so visors may drop and hang allowing trim panel to lower. This step allows access to tighten
front mounting plates on roof, align with the mounting hardware on vehicle to adjust front roof height.
STEP 2.
Follow “getting started” instructions at top of page before proceeding.
STEP 3.
Start front mounting bolts. If bolts won’t start, move plates with opposite hand until bolts align with hole in plate.
STEP 4.
Tighten front center roof mounting bolts.
STEP 5.
Tighten four outer plate bolts through windshield frame access holes locking plates in place.
STEP 6.
Check front fitment. Loosen front bolts. Retighten front bolts paying close attention to when front of the roof’s lens
makes an even contact with the windshield weatherstrip. The front edge should only put approximately 1/8” of pressure
on the weatherstrip for proper sealing as front bolts are tightened. Too much pressure may cause warps, cracks or other
problems. Too little pressure may result in air or water leaks. If you are incapable of performing the roof install as
described, please seek the assistance of a professional.
STEP 7.
Reassemble vehicle when adjustments are complete.
• On all designs of 1984-1996 Corvettes, both front and rear have adjustments as previously mentioned. If the
front is too high or if the top puts too much pressure on the front weatherstrip, this is adjusted by the front and/or rear
brackets. The front edge should only put 1/8” of pressure on the weatherstrip. Too much pressure (caused by incorrect
adjustment) may cause warps, cracks and other problems. Too little pressure may result in air or water leaks. If you are
incapable of performing the roof install as described, please seek the assistance of a professional.
• Do not install top and leave locating cones, bolts or brackets loose.
• The rear brackets are adjustable, but to gain access, it is necessary to remove shoulder harness and rear
headliner trim panels. There are two 13mm bolts on each bracket. These allow you to move the rear of the top up or
down, or fore and aft by adding or subtracting shims.
