This Turbobrush complies with current safety require-
ments. Inappropriate use can, however, lead to personal
injury and damage to property.
To avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the Tur-
bobrush and to the vacuum cleaner, please read these
instructions and those of the vacuum cleaner carefully
before using for the first time.
Keep these instructions in a safe place and ensure that
new users are familiar with the content. Pass them on to
any future owner.
Always disconnect the vacuum cleaner from the mains
supply when you have finished using it, before changing
over accessories, as well as for maintenance work and
cleaning. Switch the vacuum cleaner off at the wall
socket and unplug it.
Correct application
 The Turbobrush must only be used for household pur-
poses to vacuum and brush dry floor surfaces. Do not use
on people or animals. Any other use, modification or alter-
ation to the Turbobrush is at the owner's risk and could be
dangerous.
 The vacuum cleaner and Turbobrush can only be used
by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental cap-
abilities, or lack of experience or knowledge, if they are su-
pervised whilst using them or have been shown how to use
them in a safe way and understand and recognise the con-
sequences of incorrect operation.

Safety with children
 Danger of suffocation. Packaging, e.g. plastic wrap-
pings, must be kept out of the reach of babies and chil-
dren. Whilst playing, children could become entangled in
packaging or pull it over their head and suffocate.
 Children under 8 years of age must be kept away from
the vacuum cleaner and Turbobrush unless they are con-
stantly supervised.
 Children 8 years and older may only use the vacuum
cleaner and Turbobrush unsupervised if they have been
shown how to use them safely and recognise and under-
stand the consequences of incorrect operation.
 Children must not be allowed to clean or maintain the
vacuum cleaner and Turbobrush unsupervised.
 Please supervise children in the vicinity of the vacuum
cleaner and Turbobrush and do not let them play with
them.
Technical safety
 Before using the Turbobrush, check for any visible signs
of damage. Do not use a damaged Turbobrush.
 Do not immerse the Turbobrush in water. Clean all parts
with a dry or slightly damp cloth only.
Correct use
 Switch the vacuum cleaner off immediately during
pauses to avoid danger.
 Never touch the roller brush while it is rotating.
en - Warning and Safety instructions
9
 Do not use the Turbobrush at head level. Long hair, ties,
scarves, etc. could become entangled in the roller brush.
 Keep the Turbobrush away from curtains, clothing, etc.
as these could be vacuumed in and become entangled in
the roller brush.
 Do not vacuum up any inflammable or combustible li-
quids or gases and do not vacuum in areas where such
substances are stored.
 Do not vacuum any surfaces where there is a danger of
items being sucked up or becoming entangled in the roller
brush.
 Do not use the vacuum cleaner to vacuum up any water,
liquid or damp dirt. Wait until any freshly cleaned or sham-
pooed rugs or carpets are completely dry before attempt-
ing to vacuum.
 Do not vacuum up anything which has been burning or
is still glowing e.g. cigarettes, ashes or coal, whether glow-
ing or apparently extinguished.
Miele cannot be held liable for damage caused by incor-
rect use or operation or by non-compliance with these
Warning and Safety instructions.

Illustrations
The illustrations referred to in the text
are shown on the fold-out pages at
the end of these operating instruc-
tions.
Turbobrush features
The Turbobrush is operated by the suc-
tion power of the vacuum cleaner. It has
a rotating roller brush which is very ef-
fective at picking up thread, hairs and
fluff. Four rollers maintain the brush 1.5
mm away from the floor.
Recommended use
The Turbobrush should not be
used for vacuuming deep-pile rugs
and carpets or valuable hand-knot-
ted rugs and carpets, e.g. Persian
and oriental rugs etc. There is a
danger of the threads being pulled
out.
Do not use the Turbobrush to
clean highly textured or uneven
floors. The brush might come into
contact with the floor and cause
damage.
The Turbobrush is particularly suitable
for vacuuming thread and hair from cut
pile carpeting.
The standard floorhead or one of the
Miele floorbrushes should be used for
cleaning hard floors.
It is also important to observe the
flooring manufacturer's cleaning and
care instructions.
Using the Turbobrush
To achieve the best effect, pass the
Turbobrush slowly backwards and
forwards over the carpet or floor cov-
ering.
For carpets with fringes always draw
the Turbobrush from the carpet across
the fringe towards the rest of the floor.
Fitting the Turbobrush(dia. 01)
Instead of the usual floor attachment,
fit the Turbobrush to the suction tube
by twisting it to the left and right. En-
sure that the locking device engages.
To open the air inlet valve
(dia. 02)
The brush is operated by the suction
power of the vacuum cleaner. With
deeper, dense pile carpets the roller
brush may rotate more slowly. This is
caused by the carpet pile creating a
seal around the mouth of the Tur-
bobrush and hindering the flow of air.
This will affect how well the carpet is
brushed.
To increase the airflow, open the air
inlet valve (top illustration).
In all other situations the air inlet valve
should be closed, to benefit from the
full suction power.
Close the air inlet valve (bottom illus-
tration).

Maintenance
Always disconnect the vacuum
cleaner from the electrical supply for
cleaning and maintenance work on
the Turbobrush. Switch off at the wall
socket and remove the plug.
Removing threads and hairs (dia. 03)
Use scissors to cut any threads or
hairs which have wound around the
roller brush. There is a groove on the
roller to guide you.
Then run the vacuum cleaner to va-
cuum up the bits.
