PU07 QUICK START MANUAL
3
1. INTRODUCTION
Thank you for choosing the Mitsubishi inverter option unit. This Quick
Start Manual gives handling information and precautions for use of this
equipment. Incorrect handling might cause an unexpected fault. Before
using the equipment, please read this manual carefully to use the
equipment to its optimum. Please forward this manual to the end user.
All illustrations given in this manual may have been drawn with covers
or safety guards removed to provide in-depth description. Before
starting operation of the product, always return the covers and guards
into original positions as specified and operate the equipment in
accordance with the manual.
1.1 SAFETY
Do not attempt to install, operate, maintain or inspect the inverter until
you have read through the Quick Start Manual carefully and can use
the equipment correctly. Do not use this product until you have a full
knowledge of the equipment, safety information and instructions. In
this Installation Guideline, the safety instruction levels are classified
into “DANGER” and “CAUTION”.
DANGER Indicates that incorrect handling may cause
hazardous conditions, resulting in death or severe injury.
CAUTION Indicates that incorrect handling may cause
hazardous conditions, resulting in medium or slight personal injury
or physical damage.
Depending on the circumstances, procedures indicated by CAUTION
may also cause severe injury. It is important to follow all precautions for
personal safety.
DANGER ELECTRIC SHOCK PREVENTION
• Do not run the inverter with the front cover removed. You may access
exposed high voltage terminals or charging devices and get an
electric shock.
• Before starting wiring or inspection, check that the operation panel
indicator is off, wait for at least 10 minutes after the power supply
has been switched off, and check that there are no residual voltage
using a tester or the like. The capacitor is charged with high voltage
for some time after power off and it is dangerous.
• Any person who is involved in the wiring or inspection of this
equipment should be fully competent to do the work.
• Always install the inverter before wiring. Otherwise, you may get an
electric shock or be injured.
• Operate the keys with dry hands to prevent an electric shock.
CAUTION TRANSPORTATION AND MOUNTING
• Do not install and operate the parameter unit if it is damaged or has
parts missing.
• Do not stand or rest heavy objects on this equipment.
• Check the inverter mounting orientation is correct.
• The parameter unit is a precision device, do not drop it or subject it
to impact.
• Use the inverter under the following environmental conditions:
Surrounding Air
Temperature -10°C to +50°C (14°F to 122°F) (non-freezing)
Ambient Humidity 90%RH maximum (non-condensing)
Storage
Temperature -20°C to +65°C *1 (-4°F to 149°F)
Atmosphere Indoors (free from corrosive gas, flammable gas, oil mist, dust
and dirt)
Altitude/Vibration
Maximum 1000m (3280.80 feet) above sea level, 5.9m/s² or less
*1 Temperature applicable for a short time, e.g. in transit.
CAUTION TEST OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT
• Before starting operation, confirm and adjust the parameters. A
failure to do so may cause some machines to make unexpected
motions.
DANGER USAGE
• Since pressing STOP/RESET key may not stop output depending on
the function setting status, provide a circuit and switch separately to
make an emergency stop (power off, mechanical brake operation for
emergency stop, etc).
• Make sure that the start signal is off before resetting the inverter
alarm. A failure to do so may restart the motor suddenly.
• Do not modify the equipment.
• Do not perform parts removal which is not instructed in this manual.
Doing so may lead to fault or damage of the inverter.
CAUTION USAGE
• When parameter clear or all parameter clear is performed, each
parameter returns to the factory setting. Reset the required
parameters before starting operation.
CAUTION CORRECTIVE ACTIONS FOR ALARM
• Provide safety backup devices, such as an emergency brake, to
protect machines and equipment from hazard if the parameter unit
becomes faulty.
CAUTION MAINTENANCE, INSPECTION AND PARTS
REPLACEMENT
• Do not carry out a megger (insulation resistance) test on the control
circuit of the inverter. It will cause a failure.
CAUTION DISPOSAL
• Treat as industrial waste.
DANGER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR ALKALINE BATTERY
• Do not throw an alkaline battery in the fire. Do not shortcircuit, break
down or heat an alkaline battery.
• Do not charge an alkaline battery.
• Use the battery of the specified type.
CAUTION SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR ALKALINE BATTERY
• Check the following to prevent liquid leakage, heating, ignition, burst,
etc. When the battery liquid leaked, wipe the liquid of the battery box
well and then put in a new battery. If the liquid attaches to the body,
rinse it off well with running water.
• Insert an alkaline battery with the correct polarity.
• When a battery is run down or not used for an extended period of
time, take the battery out.
• Do not use a new battery with a used battery or a battery of different
type.
CAUTION SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR NICKEL METAL
HYDRIDE BATTERY
• When using a nickel metal hydride battery and charger, read the
instruction manuals carefully before using them.
