1 INTRODUCTION
Especially for users of measuring machines from Mitutoyo, special programs are available for
optimal use of the StyliCleaner. However, the user needs to have at least the Mitutoyo MCOSMOS
software v3.2 or later.
This manual describes which steps are to be taken by the user to use the StyliCleaner.
In short, these are the following steps:
Extracting aid programs
Setting parameters
Measuring position reference ball
Measuring position cleaning unit
These steps are described in the following chapters.
PLEASE NOTE !!!!
Running the cleaning of the stylus may be executed with styli with a minimum length of 20 mm.
The probes will be cleaned at a height of 10mm under the top of the cleaning unit.

2 EXTRACTING AID PROGRAMS
The available aid programs are supplied in a zipped file.
The name of the file is .
However, the name of this file can change. The addition v2022-04 indicates that this version is
dated at April 2022.
After unzipping, the following programs are available:
Measuring program:
1Setup StyliCleaner ; Setting parameters when using the StyliCleaner
2Align StyliCleaner ; Measuring position cleaning unit
SubProgram:
Cleaning ; Executing cleaning of the stylus

Before we are able to use the aid programs, it is necessary to unzip the file.
Therefore the next steps need to be taken:

download these programs.
As a standard, we propose
“C:\MCOSMOS\DATA\”
Press the button .

Following, it is requested to enter a
password.
The password to unzip this file is: Mako.
After pressing the button the file
will be unzipped.

All the extracted programs are now to be
found at the destination
“C:\MCOSMOS\DATA\StyliCleaner\”.

3 SETTING PARAMETERS
The first step is the set-up of the parameters for using the StyliCleaner. These settings can be
applied by starting the program .
Take the following steps:

After all parameters are set, the dialog box
can be left by pressing button .

Stop the repeat function by pressing button

The settings are now correctly installed for using the StyliCleaner.

4 MEASURING POSITION CLEANING UNIT
Finally the position of the cleaning unit has to be measured. For this we can use the measuring
program .

Start program by the
repeat function.

Confirm the current probe tree by pressing
button .

In case probe tree 1 is not yet active,
GEOPAK will change to probe tree 1.

The first measuring point needs to be
manually touched at the top of the cleaning
unit.
6.
The next step consists of measuring a circle
in the center of the cleaning unit.
7.
At last we need to align out the axis.
Touch 1 point manually at the left front side
of the cleaning unit.

Finally we need to touch manually 1 point at
the right front side of the cleaning unit.
9.
Once the measuring position of cleaning unit
is set, the stylus will go up automatically to
the machine start-position

Stop the repeat function by pressing button
.
The measuring position of the cleaning unit has now been set and is ready for use.

5 EXECUTING THE CLEANING OF THE STYLUS
After all preparations are done, we can now start with the cleaning of the stylus.
To perform a styluscleaning we will have the use of a subprogram.
There are possibilities to start the cleaningroutine, namely from the PartDir or from the LibDir.

5.1 Start cleaning from PartDir

For the cleaning of the stylus we need to
start a subprogram.
From the learning function press on button
or start from menu the
function .

Select in the group

After pressing button the

5.2 Start cleaning from LibDir
To clean the stylus to start from all the programs we need to copy the subprogram to the LibDir.

to the LibDir.
Select the SubProgram .
