DESCRIPTION
This variant of the VIA audio handset comes
with a magnetic tabletop holder for mounting
on horizontal furniture surfaces. The handset
is placed on the magnetic table holder and
the audio cable is passed through it into the
furniture. The handset can be pulled upwards
for use; when returned to the table, the cable
will be guided back into the furniture via the
weight mounted to the line. The magnetic table
holder will interact with the reed contact in
the handset to activate the Auto-Start feature.
POSITIONING
An easily accessible position for the users
should be chosen when deciding where to
position the VIA Handset with tabletop holder.
Surfaces with an incline of up to 20° can be
used without interference.
Inside the furniture there should be an empty
space of at least 20 × 20 × 65 cm (Width ×
Depth × Height) directly underneath the hand-
set holder for the line and weight. (See picture)
The maximum cable length that can be pulled
out is approx. 90cm. This should be taken into
account with regard to the type of use (sitting
or standing) as well as the height of the
mounting surface (height of the furniture).
MOUNTING
The holes for the handset cable and mounting
screws should be drilled in advance according
to the drilling template (attached).
Note: The positioning of the mounting holes
determines the orientation of the handset in
the holder.
The table mount is screwed to the furniture
surface by means of two M4 threaded sockets
in its base. To accommodate these sockets,
countersunk holes must be made in the
mounting surface. Please select the length of
the M4 screws according to the material thick-
ness of the furniture.
Pass the handset cable through the already
mounted table holder into the furniture. Slide
the weight onto the cable with the rubber side
facing the furniture surface. Mount the strain
relief for the end of the metal protective sheath
to the roof or side wall of the furniture. When
choosing this place, ensure that there is an
unobstructed path for the audio (gray) cable to
reach your audio source (player). Fix the metal
protective sheath to the strain relief using a
grub screw – if necessary, remove the second
grub screw before mounting.
When the weight is fixed to the handset line
by means of the lateral screw, its position will
determine the available length of cable that can
be pulled out of the furniture. The weight can
also be left unfixed and sliding on the handset
line, depending on the position of the strain
relief and the available space in the furniture.
Pass the gray audio cable to the audio source
and connect it. If possible, mount it to the
furniture outside of the movement range of
the weight.
