INSTALLATION CLEARANCES
This hood is designed to be installed onto a wall.
Install this hood 30" minimum to 36" maximum above the
cooking surface.
In this installation, the ductwork running from the top
of the hood will be concealed in the soffit or upper
cabinetry.
In this installation, the ductwork running from the back
of the hood goes directly into the wall.
ADVANCED PLANNING

■Carefullyreviewtheductworkinstallationmethodas
described later in this instruction as well as the hood
insert installation instructions.
Wall Framing for Adequate Support
■Thishoodisheavy.Adequatestructuralsupportmust
be provided. Hood must be secured to vertical studs in
the wall.
■Itisstronglyrecommendedthatthehoodandhood
insert be on site before final framing and wall finishing.
This will also help to accurately locate the ductwork
and electrical service.

NOTE: Clearances may vary due to type of
cooking product and local codes. Check with local
inspectors to be sure standard is applicable.

STEP 1 DETERMINE HOOD AND DUCTWORK LOCATIONS
MARK LOCATION OF WOOD SUPPORT
■Usealeveltodrawacooktopcenterlinelocation.
Draw the line to ceiling height.
■Measuredesireddistancefromthebottomofthehood
to the cooking surface, 30” min. to 36” max.
■Usealeveltodrawastraighthorizontalpencilline
indicating the bottom of the hood.
■Fromthelineindicatingthebottomofthehood,
measure 16” up and draw another line for the location
of the wood support.
■Fromthelineindicatingthebottomofthehood,
measure 28” up and draw another line for the location
of the top of the hood. See illustration.

FOR VERTICAL (Straight Up) DUCTING:
■Usealeveltodrawacenterlinefromthebottomofthe
hood to ceiling or soffit.
■Extendthecenterlineforwardontheceilingorsoffit.

bymeasuring8-1/2”fromthewall.
FOR DUCTING THROUGH REAR WALL:
■Measure4-3/4”abovethemarkedlineforthetopof

8-1/2”diameterhole.

STEP 2 INSTALL HOOD TO WALL
Mount Wood Support to Wall
■Locateatleast2verticalstudsatthewoodsupport.
■Centerthesuppliedwoodsupport,lefttorightand
below the 16” marked line. Use the center hole in the
wood support as guidance.
■Markanddrilltwo3/16”holesthroughwoodsupportto
match stud locations.
■Securethewoodsupportto2ormoreverticalstuds,
using 2 long, square drive screws.
IMPORTANT: Screws must penetrate at least 1” into
vertical studs. Countersink screws in support.
NOTE: The two supplied mounting screws must remain
in their original shipping location. These screws are
positioned to engage the keyhole slots in the back of the
hood.
■Adjustdepthofsuppliedmountingscrewsinthewood
supportuntiltheyprotrude1/4”forward.This1/4”gap
will provide clearance to hang the hood.
IMPORTANT: Framing must be capable of
supporting up to 150 lbs.
■Placethehoodoverthewoodsupport.Besurethe
mounting screws engage the keyhole slots in the
back of the hood. Tighten the screws. Confirm hood
position is correct.
■Installadditional2shortscrewstosecurethehoodto
the wood support.
■Install2mediumPhillipsscrewsattopinsideofthe
hood into studs. Chose the appropriate holes that line
up with studs.
■Install2mediumPhillipsscrewsatbottominsideof
hood into studs. Choose the appropriate holes that
line up with studs.

STEP 3 INSTALL HOOD INSERT INTO HOOD
RefernowtotheinstallationinstructionsfortheCustomHoodInsert(ZVC48)withthefollowingexceptions:
■Disregardanyreferencetobuildingacustomwood
canopy.
■DisregardanyreferencetotheHoodLiner.Itisnot
required when using this hood.
■Forductplanningyouwillneedtorefertothese
instructions as some of the dimensions are different.
■YoumayremotemountthecontrolfortheHoodInsert
if desired.
■SkipStep1(InsertHoodLiner).Youmaydiscardthe
Liner, it is not required.
■StartatStep2,ConnectElectrical.
■BesuretofollowtheremainderoftheCustomHood
Insert installation instructions to properly fasten the
Insert to the Hood.
■Payspecialattentiontothestepthatsaystopush
the Insert firmly up prior to driving screws. This will
prevent any visible gaps between the Insert and the
Hood.
Use provided screws to attach the Insert to the Hood as directed
in the Insert Installation Instructions.

DÉGAGEMENTS POUR L'INSTALLATION
Cettehotteaétéconçuepourêtreinstalléesurunmur.
Installez cette hotte à au moins 30 po et à au plus 36 po
au-dessus de la surface de cuisson.
Pour cette installation, le conduit d'évacuation de la partie
supérieure de la hotte sera dissimulé dans la retombée de
plafond ou dans l'armoire supérieure.
Pour cette installation, le conduit d'évacuation de la partie
arrière de la hotte passera directement dans le mur.

Préparatifs relatifs aux conduits d'évacuation
■Révisezattentivementlaméthoded'installationdu
conduit, comme décrite ultérieurement dans les présentes
instructions ainsi que les instructions d'installation pour la
garniture de hotte.

ÉTAPE 2 INSTALLER LA HOTTE AU MUR
Monter le support en bois sur le mur
■Localisezaumoins2montantsverticauxpourlesupport
en bois.
■Centrezlesupportenboisfourni,degaucheàdroite,sous
la ligne marquée à 16 po. Utilisez le trou central du support
en bois pour vous guider.
■Marquezetpercezdeuxtrousde3/16podanslesupporten
boisdefaçonàcequ'ilscorrespondentauxemplacements
des montants.
■Fixezlesupportenboisà2montantsverticauxouplus,à
l'aide de 2 vis longues à carré conducteur fournies.
IMPORTANT : Les vis doivent pénétrer d'au moins 1 po dans les
montantsverticaux.Chanfreinezlestrousdevisdanslesupport.
REMARQUE :Lesdeuxvisdemontagefourniesdoivent
resterdansleuremplacementd'expéditiond'origine.Cesvis
sont positionnées pour s'engager dans les encoches en trou
de serrure à l'arrière de la hotte.
■Ajustezlaprofondeurdesvisdemontagefourniesdansle
supportenboisjusqu'àcequ'ellesdépassentde1/4po.
Cettesailliede1/4popermettradesuspendrelahotte.
IMPORTANT : La charpente doit pouvoir soutenir une
charge de 150 lb (68 kg).
■Placezlahottesurlesupportenbois.Assurez-vousqueles
vis de montage s'engagent dans les encoches en trou de
serrure à l'arrière de la hotte. Serrez les vis. Assurez-vous
que la position de la hotte est la bonne.
■Installez2viscourtessupplémentairespourfixerlahotteau
support en bois.
■Installez2visPhillipsmoyennessurlapartiesupérieure
intérieure de la hotte, dans les montants. Choisissez les
trous appropriés qui s'alignent avec les montants.
■Installez2visPhillipsmoyennessurlapartieinférieure
intérieure de la hotte, dans les montants. Choisissez les
trous appropriés qui s'alignent avec les montants.

ÉTAPE 3 POSER LA GARNITURE DE HOTTE
Consultezmaintenantlesinstructionsd'installationpourlagarnituredehottepersonnalisée(ZVC48)aveclesexceptionssuivantes:
■Ignoreztouteréférenceàlaconstructiond'untoiten
bois personnalisé.
■Ignoreztouteréférenceàladoubluredehotte.Celan'est
pas nécessaire dans le cadre de l'utilisation de cette hotte.
■Pourlaplanificationduconduit,vousaurezbesoinde
consulter ces instructions, car certaines des dimensions
sont différentes.
■Vouspouvezmonteràdistancelacommandepourlahotte
si vous le désirez.
■Omettezl'étape1(Insérerladoubluredehotte).Vous
pouvez jeter la doublure, elle n'est pas nécessaire.
■Commencezàl'étape2:Brancherl'appareilàl'alimentation
électrique.
■Assurez-vousdesuivrelerestedesinstructionsd'installation
delagarnituredehottepersonnaliséepourfixer
correctement la garniture à la hotte.
■Prêtezuneattentiontouteparticulièreàl'étapequiindique
de pousser la garniture fermement vers le haut avant de
poser les vis. Ceci évitera la présence de tout espace
visible entre la garniture et la hotte.
Utilisezlesvisfourniespourfixerlagarnitureàlahotte,comme
indiqué dans les instructions d'installation de la garniture.
