Filters
It is important that the pleated filter is clicked clean each time the dust canister is emptied to allow air
through the appliance.
It is recommended to REGULARLY remove and wash (OR THOROUGHLY BRUSH OFF) the
dust canister pleated filter, always allow to air dry before re-fitting (see page 5).
Blockages
If the suction feels low, check the floor nozzle, tubes, hose and dust canister connector for blockages
(see page 7).
Safety cut-out
Both the suction and beater bar motors are protected by safety cut-outs.
See page 6 for more details. If these operate, it is important to unplug from the mains
supply before attempting any remedial action.

See page 5 for emptying advice.
Brush bar switch off
IMPORTANT: The rotating brush bar will automatically stop when the cleaner is put into the upright
position.

Electrical
requirements
Check that the voltage on

(Alternating Current).
If the socket outlets in your
home are not suitable for
the plug supplied with this
appliance, the plug should
be removed and the
appropriate one fitted.
WARNING: The plug
removed from the
mains lead, if severed,
must be destroyed, as
a plug with a bared
flexible cord is
hazardous if engaged
into a live socket
outlet.
Should the fuse in the 13
amp plug require changing,
a 13 amp BS1362 fuse

Assembly
WARNING: Do not plug in
the cleaner until it is
assembled.
1Carefully unpack all
components.
2Lift cleaner body to upright
position.
3Insert the handle into the hole
on the top of the product. Push
down until it clicks.
NOTE: The handle may be
removed by lifting while
simultaneously pushing the
release button with a suitable
tool eg. a small screwdriver A.
The release button is located in
a hole at the rear of the product
just above the cable cleat.
Rotate the cable cleat
downwards for easier access.
OPERATING THE
APPLIANCE
Using on carpets
1Place cleaner in its upright
position.
2Release the mains cable by
turning the quick release cleat
Áhalf a turn and extend the
cable fully.
3Plug the mains cable into the
mains socket.
4Clip the cable into the cable clip
holder Òat the rear of the
handle.
5Place your foot on the foot pad
· on the floorhead whilst
pulling the handle towards you
to release the handle into the
cleaning position B.
6Press the power on/off switch
¤ C on the floorhead for the
main power. Then press the
brush-bar on/off switch ‹to
activate the brush-bar motor for
carpet cleaning.
IMPORTANT: To prevent
damage to carpets, never
leave the cleaner switched
on in one place for an
extended period.
IMPORTANT: The rotating
brush bar will automatically
stop when the cleaner is
put into the upright
position.
Using on hard floors
Follow steps 1-5from the
instructions for ‘Using on
carpets.’
Press the brush bar on/off pedal
‹to turn the brush bar off.
Using the hose and
attachments
1Take the flexible hose Êout of
the storage holder.
2Pull down the hose connector
inlet flap Èand insert the hose
connector with its ‘mouth’
pointing upwards D. Push the
hose connector fully in such that
the flap latches on to the
connector.
3Add the required accessory
directly to the tube connector Í
or fit the extension tubes for
maximum reach.
4When removing the connector,
gently lower the flap slightly to
release the catch then withdraw
the connector.
IMPORTANT: With the hose
connector fitted all of the
suction is directed to the
hose. Remove the
connector before returning
to general cleaning with the
floor nozzle ‰.

Using the hair and
stair tool
(certain models only)
Attach the stair tool ı to the
hose connector Ë for effective
stair cleaning.
Attach the hair tool ˆ to the
stair tool for fantastic pet hair
pick-up F.
DUST CANISTER
Emptying
1Every time the dust canister is
emptied, rotate the filter
cleaning dial fiseveral times
clockwise before emptying G
(this will agitate the fine dust
between the filter pleats and
restore the air flow).
2Remove the dust canister from
the product by pressing the
canister release button H ›.
3Turn the lid quarter-of-a-turn
anti-clockwise to unlock, lift off
the lid with the pleated filter I.
4Empty the canister into a
dustbin.
5Re-fit the dust canister and
push back into position.
Allergy sufferers
When emptying any vacuum
cleaner, it is difficult to avoid
exposure to dust. To minimise
this risk, please ensure that you
encase the dust canister in a
large bag to empty it. Close the
bag as tightly as possible round
the dust canister. Remove the
dust canister and close the bag
as tightly and quickly as
possible and dispose of this
immediately. It is advisable to
wear disposable gloves and a
face mask while emptying the
cleaner. If at all possible, ask a
non allergy sufferer to empty the
dust canister when required.
FILTERS
Cleaning
To maintain suction, the pleated
filter must be cleaned using the
cleaning dial each time the dust
canister is emptied. To clean,
turn the filter cleaning dial fi
clockwise several times G
before emptying.
Pleated filter
In addition to cleaning the
pleated filter with the cleaning
dial each time the dust canister
is emptied, it is recommended
to regularly remove and wash (or
thoroughly brush off) the pleated
filter.
To thoroughly clean the filter, it
can be washed in warm water
(no detergent). Leave the filter to
air dry. Ensure the filter is
thoroughly dry before refitting.
