Specific Absorption Rate Data
SARData
This model wireless phone meets thegovernment’s requirements
for exposure to radio waves.
Your wireless phone is a radio t ransmitter and receiver. It is designed and
manufactured not to exceed limit sf or exposure to radio frequency (RF)
energy set by the Federal C ommunications Commission (FCC) of the U.S.
Government and by the Can adian regulatory authorities. Thes e limits are
part of comprehensive guidelines and establish per mitted levels of RF
energy for the general p opulation. The guidelines are based on sta ndards
that were developed by ind ependent scientific organizations t hrough
periodic and thorough eval uation of scientific studies. The standards
include a substantial saf ety margin designed to assure the safety of all
persons, regardless of age or health.
The exposure standard for wireless mobile phone s employs a unit of
measurement known as the S pecific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit
set by the FCC and by the Canadi an regulatory authorities is 1.6 W/kg.
1
Tests for SAR are conducted using sta ndard operating positions acce pted by
the FCC and by Industr y Canada with the phone transmitting at its highest
certified power l evel in all tested frequency bands. Alt hough the SAR is
determined at the hi ghest certified power level, the actu al SAR level of the
phone while operating can be well bel owthe max imumva lue. This is
because the phone is d esigned to operate at multiple power l evels so as to
use only the power requir ed to reach the network. In general, the closer you
are to a wireless base s tation, the lower the power output.
Before a phone model i s available for sale to the public in the U.S. and
Canada, it must be tested and cert ified to the FCC and Industry Canada that
it does not exceed the limit establ ished by each government for safe
exposure. The tests a re performed in positions and loc ations (e.g., at the ear
and worn on the body) reported to the FCC and availa ble for review by
Industry Canada. T he highest SAR value for this model phone w hen tested
for use at the ear is 0.5 W/kg, and when worn on the body, as described in
this user guide, is 0. 61 W/kg . (Body-worn measurements differ among
phone models, depending upon avail able accessories and regulatory
requirements).
2
While there may be differences between th eS ARl evels of various phones
and at various positi ons, they all meet the governmental requirement s for
safe exposure. Pleas e note that improvements to this prod uct model could
cause differences i n the SAR value for later products; in a ll cases, products
are designed to be within the guidel ines.
Additional information on Spe cific Absorption Rates (SAR) can be found on
the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTI A) Web site:
http://www.phonefacts.net
or the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) Web site:
http://www.cwta.ca
1. In the United States and Canada, the SAR limit for mobile phones used by the public is
1.6 watts/kg (W/kg) averaged over one gram of tissue. The standard incorporates a
substantial margin of safety to give additional protection for thepubl ic and to account for any
variations in measurements.
2 The SAR information includes the Motorola testing protocol, assessment proce dure, and
measurement uncertainty range for this product.

Hearing Aid Compatibility with Mobile Phones
HearingAids
Some Motorola phones are measured for compatibilit y with hearing aids. If
the box for your particular model has “Rated for Hear ing Aids” printed on it,
the following explanation app lies.
When some mobile phones are used n ear some hearing devices (hearing ai ds
and cochlear implants), users may detect a buzzing, hum ming, or whining
noise. Some hearing devices are more immune than oth ers to this
interference noise, and phones also vary in the amount of interference they
generate.
The wireless telephone ind ustry has developed ratings for some of the ir
mobile phones, to assi st hearing device users in finding p hones that may be
compatible with thei r hearing devices. Not all phones have been rated.
Phones that are rated h ave the rating on their box or a label on the box.
The ratings are not guarant ees. Results will vary depending on the user’s
hearing device and hear ing loss. If your hearing device happ ens to be
vulnerable to interf erence, you may not be able to use a rate d phone
successfully. Trying out the phone with your hearing device is the best way to
evaluate it for your p ersonal needs.
M-Ratings:
Phones rated M3 or M4 meet FCC requirements and are like ly to
generate less interfe rence to hearing devices than phones t hat are not
labeled. M4 is the bett er/higher of the two ratings.
T-R at in gs :
Phones rated T3 or T4 mee t FCC requirements and are likely t o be
more usable with a heari ng device’s telecoil (“T Switc h” or “Telephone
Switch”) than unrated p hones. T4 is the better/higher of the two ratings.
(Note that not all he aring devices have telecoils in the m.)
Hearing devices may also be measured for immuni ty to this type of
interference. Your hearing devi ce manufacturer or hearing health prof essional
may help you find result s for your hearing device. The more i mmune your
hearing aid is, the less likely you are to exper ience interference noise from
mobile phones.

Your mobile device lets you communicate by voice and data—al most
anywhere, anytime, wher ever wireless service is available a nd safe
conditions allow. When driving a car, driving is your first responsibilit y. If
you choose to use your mobi le device while driving, r emember the following
tips:
• Get to know your Motorola mobile deviceand its features such
as speed dial and redial.
If available, these fe atures help you to place
your call without taki ng your attention off the road.
• When available, use a handsfree device. If
possible, add an additional layerof convenience to your
mobile device with one of the many Motorola Original
handsfree accessories available today.
• Positiony our mobile device withineasy reach.
Be
able to access your mobi le device without removing your eyes fr om the
road. If you receive an incom ing call at an inconvenient time, if possible,
let your voicemail answer it for you.
• Let the personyou are speaking with know you are driving;if
necessary, suspend th e call in heavy traffic or hazardous
weather condi tions.
Rain, sleet, snow, ice, and even heavy tr affic can
be hazardous.
• Do not take notesor look up phone numbers while driving.
Jotting
down a “to do” list or going through your address bo okt akes attention
away from your primary respon sibility—driving safely.
• Dial sensibly and assess the tr affic; if possible, place calls when
your car is not moving orbefore pulling into traffic.
If you must
make a call while moving , dial only a few numbers, check the ro ad and
your mirrors, then co ntinue.
• Do not engage in stressful or emotional conversati ons that may
be distracting .
Make people you are talking wit h aware you are driving
and suspend conversations that can di vert your attention away from the
road.
• Use your mobile device to ca ll for help.
Dial 911 or other local
emergency number in the case of fi re, traffic accident, or medical
emergencies (wherever wi reless phone service is available).
• Use your mobile device to help others in emergencies.
If you see
an auto accident, cr ime in progress, or other serious emer gency where
lives are in danger, call 911 or other local emergency number (wher ever
wireless phone servi ce is available), as you would want ot hers to do for
you.
• Call roadside assistance or a specialnon-emergency wireless
assistance number when necessary.
If you see a broken-d own
vehicle posing no serious hazar d,a bro ken traffic signal, a minor traffic
accident where no one app ears injured, or a vehicle you kn ow to be
stolen, call roadside assi stance or other special non-emergency wireless
number (wherever wirel ess phone service is available).
battery use & safety
IMPORTANT: HANDLE AND STORE BATTERIES PROPERLYTO AVOID INJURY

DON’Ts
• Don’t disassemble, crush, punc ture, shred, or otherwise attempt to
change the form of your battery.

• Don’t place your battery near a heat so urce.
Excessive heat can damage the
phone or the battery. High temperat ures can cause the battery to swell, leak, or
malfunction. Therefor e:
•Do not dry a wet or damp battery with an appliance or heat source,
such as a hair dryer or microwave oven.
•
Avoid leaving your phone in your c ar in high temperatures.
DOs

Motorola recommends you a lways use Motorola-branded b atteries and
chargers.
Motorola mobile devices ar ed esigned to work with Motorola batteries.
If you see a message on your displ ay such as
Invalid Battery
or
Unable to Charge
, take
the following steps:
•
Remove the battery and inspec t it to confirm that it has a “Motorola Original ”
hologram;
•
If there is no hologram, th e battery is not a Motorola battery;
