このたびは、本製品をお買い上げいただきまことにありがとうございます。
本書は、N8190-148 ディスクアレイ装置用増設コントローラ（以下「本製品」または「増設コントロー
ラ」と呼びます）を正しく、安全に設置・使用するための手引きです。本製品を取り扱う前に必ずお読み
ください。また、本製品を使用する上でわからないこと、不具合が起きたときにもぜひご利用ください。
本書は、必要な時にすぐに参照できるように必ずお手元に保管してください。
本製品を取り付ける N8190-147 ディスクアレイ装置（ST12400 SAS-HDD モデル）（以下「ディスクアレ
イ」または「ディスクアレイ装置」と呼びます）および基本処理装置（以下「本体装置」と呼びます）の
取り扱いについての説明は、ディスクアレイ装置および本体装置に添付の取扱説明書を参照してください。
また、本製品を取り扱う前に「使用上のご注意」、「取り扱い上のご注意」を必ずお読みください。
Preface
Thank you for purchasing the N8190-148 Additional RAID Controller.
This is a guide to install and use the N8190-148 Additional RAID Controller (hereafter “this product” or “the
RAID controller”) safely and correctly. Make sure to read the manual before using this product. Also read
this document if there is anything you do not understand or a problem occurs while using this product.
Keep this document handy for quick reference.
For information on using N8190-147F Disk Array Unit (ST12400 SAS-HDD model) (to which this product is
attached and the basic processing unit (hereafter basic unit), see manuals which came with disk array unit
and basic unit respectively. Make sure to read “Safety Precautions” and “Precautions for Use” before
using this product.

本製品を安全に正しくご使用になるために必要な情報が記載されています。
安全に関わる表示について
N8190-148 ディスクアレイ装置用増設コントローラをお使いになる場合には、本書の指示に従ってください。
本書には、装置のどこが危険であるか、どのような危険にあうか、どうすれば危険を避けられるかなど
について説明されています。
また、装置内で危険が想定される場所、或いはその付近には警告ラベルが貼り付けられています。
本書および警告ラベルでは、危険の程度を表す用語として、「警告」と「注意」を使用しています。
それぞれの用語は、次のような意味を持つものとして定義されています。
人が死亡する、または重傷を負う恐れがあることを示しています。
火傷やケガなどを負う恐れや、物理的損害を負う恐れがあることを示しています。
危険に対する注意・表示には次の 3 種類の記号を使用しています。それぞれの記号は次のような意味を
持つものとして定義されています。
注意の喚起 この記号は危険が発生する恐れがあることを表し
ています。記号の中の絵表示は危険の内容を図案
化したものです。
行為の禁止 この記号は行為の禁止を表しています。記号の中
や近くの絵表示は、禁止された行為の内容を図案
化したものです。
行為の強制 この記号は行為の強制を表しています。記号の中
の絵表示は必要な行為の内容を図案化したもので
す。危険を避けるためには、この行為が必要です。

・注意の喚起：
感電の恐れがあることを示します。

髪の毛などが巻き込まれる恐れがあることを示します。

本製品を分解・修理・改造しないでください。

特定しない一般的な使用者の行為を指示します。説明に従った
操作をしてください。

安全上のご注意
本製品を安全にお使い頂くために、ここで説明する注意事項をよくお読みください。記号の説明
については、巻頭の「安全に関わる表示について」の説明を参照願います。
全般的な注意事項
人命に関わる業務や高度な信頼性を必要とする業務には使用しない
本製品は、医療機器、原子力設備や機器、航空宇宙機器・輸送設備や機器など、人
命に関わる設備や機器および高度な信頼性を必要とする設備や機器などへの組み込み
やこれらの機器の制御などを目的とした使用は意図されていません。これら設備や機
器、制御システムなどに本製品を使用した結果、人身事故、財産損害が生じても弊社
はいかなる責任も負いかねます。
発煙や異臭、異音がしたまま使用しない
発煙、異臭、異音など生じた場合、ただちに電源を OFF にして電源コードをコンセ
ントから抜いてください。そのまま使用されますと火災の原因となります。
針金や金属片を差し込まない
通気孔やハードディスクドライブの隙間から針金や金属片などを差し込まないでく
ださい。感電の原因となります。
装置内に水や異物を入れない
装置内に水などの液体、金属片などの異物を入れないでください。感電や火災、故
障の原因となります。もし入ってしまった場合には、電源を OFF にし、電源コードを
コンセントから抜いてください。

設置／移動／保管／接続に関する注意事項
指定以外の場所に設置しない
本製品を次に示すような場所や本書で指定している場所以外に設置しないでくださ
い。火災の原因になる恐れがあります。
・直射日光が当たる場所。 ・温度変化の激しい場所。
・ 不安定な場所。 ・振動のある場所。
・ほこりの多い場所。 ・給湯器のそばなどの湿気の多い場所。
・ものの落下する恐れのある場所。
・薬品がかかる恐れのある場所。
指定以外のインタフェースケーブルを使用しない
インタフェースケーブルは、弊社が指定するものを使用し、接続する装置やコネク
タを確認した上で接続してください。指定以外のケーブルを使用したり、接続先を誤
ったりすると、ショートにより火災の原因になる恐れがあります。
またインタフェースケーブルの取り扱いや接続について、次の注意事項をお守りく
ださい。
・破損したケーブルを使用しない。
・ケーブルを踏まない。
・ケーブルの上にものを載せない。
・コネクタを固定しないまま使用しない。
腐食性ガスの存在する環境で使用または保管しない
腐食性ガス（二酸化硫黄、硫化水素、二酸化窒素、塩素、アンモニア、オゾンなど）
の存在する環境に設置し、使用しないでください。
また、ほこりや空気中に腐食を促進する成分（塩化ナトリウムや硫黄など）や導電
性の金属などが含まれている環境へも設置しないでください。装置内部のプリント板
が腐食し、故障および発煙・発火の原因となるおそれがあります。

お手入れ／機器の取り扱いに関する注意事項
自分で分解・修理・改造はしない
絶対に自分で分解・修理・改造はしないでください。装置が正常に動作しないばか
りでなく、感電や火災の原因となります。
リチウムバッテリを取り外さない
本製品内部にはリチウムバッテリが取り付けられています。本製品を廃棄するとき
以外はリチウムバッテリを取り外さないでください。リチウムバッテリは火に近づけ
たり、水に浸けたりすると爆発する恐れがあります。
感電注意
クリーニングの際は、本製品の電源を OFF にして電源コードをコンセントから抜い
て行ってください。例え電源を OFF にしても電源コードを接続したまま装置内部の部
品に触ると感電する恐れがあります。
高温注意
本製品の電源を OFF した直後は、内蔵ハードディスクドライブなどをはじめ装置内
部の部品が高温になっています。十分に冷めたことを確認してから取り付け／取り外
しを行ってください。
中途半端に取り付けない
電源コードやインタフェースケーブル、機器類は確実に取り付けてください。中途
半端に取り付けると接触不良を起こし、発煙や発火、誤動作の原因となる恐れがあり
ます。

運用中の注意事項
巻き込み注意
本製品の動作中は背面にある冷却用ファンの部分に手や髪の毛を近づけないでくだ
さい。手をはさまれたり、髪の毛が巻き込まれたりしてけがをする恐れがあります。
雷が鳴ったら触らない
雷が発生しそうな時には電源コードをコンセントから抜いてください。
また電源コードを抜く前に雷が鳴り出したら、装置には触れないでください。感電
の原因となります。
ペットを近づけない
ペットなどの生き物を近づけないでください。排泄物や体毛が装置内部に入って火災
の原因となります。
携帯電話などを近づけない
携帯電話やＰＨＳなどを近づけないでください。電波による誤動作の原因となりま
す。

Safety Precautions - Read carefully -
This section offers essential information for the safe and proper use of this controller.
Safety Symbols
When you use the additional RAID controller, follow the instructions of this manual.
This manual describes the dangerous parts in the unit, dangers you may encounter if you don’t follow the
instructions, and how to avoid them.
There are warning labels on or near the parts which may be dangerous.
In this manual and warning labels, “Warning” and “Caution” are used to indicate the degree of danger.
These words are defined as follows.
There are the following three types of symbols to describe or indicate danger. The symbols are defined as
follows.
(Do not touch)
Attention Indicates that it may cause danger . The illustration in
the symbol indicates the type of danger.
Prohibited Indicates a prohibited action. The illustration in or near
the symbol indicates the type of prohibited action.
Mandatory Indicates a mandatory action. The illustration in the
symbol indicates the type of action. This action is
necessary to avoid danger.

Safety Precautions
Read the cautions described here to use this product safely. For information on the symbols, refer to
“Safety Symbols” at the beginning of this manual.
General Cautions
!Warning
Do not use this product for services involving human lives or requiring
high reliability.
This product is not intended to be used with or control facilities or devices
concerning human lives, including medical devices, nuclear facilities and
devices, aeronautics and space devices, transportation facilities and devices; and
facilities and devices requiring high reliability. NEC assumes no liability for
any accident resulting in personal injury, death, or property damage if this
product has been used in the above conditions.
Do not use this product if any smoke, odor, or noise is present.
If smoke, odor, or noise is present, immediately turn off the POWER switch and
disconnect the power plug from the outlet, then contact your sales agent. Using this
product in such conditions may cause a fire.
Do not insert a wire or metal piece.
Do not insert a wire or metal piece into the air vents or opening of the hard disk drive. It
may cause an electric shock.
!Caution
Do not put water or foreign objects into the product.
Do not put any liquid such as water or foreign objects such as metal pieces into the
product. It may cause an electric shock, fire, or failure. If such liquid or objects are
taken in the product, turn off the power and remove the power plug from the receptacle.

Cautions for setup, moving, storage, and connecting.
!Caution
Do not install it in an unsuitable place.
Install this product in such a place as specified in this guide. Avoid the following
locations. It may cause a fire.
zDirect sunlight.
zThe space where temperature changes frequently.
zUnstable space.
zVibrating space.
zDusty space.
zHumid space.
zThe location where objects are likely to fall.
zNearby chemicals.
Do not use any unauthorized interface cable.
Use only the interface cable that comes with this product. Use of an unauthorized
interface cable may cause a short circuit or a fire. Also, observe the following to prevent a
fire.
zDo not use any damaged interface cable.
zDo not step the cable.
zDo not place any object on the cable.
zDo not use the cable without interface connecter not fixed.
Do not use or store this product in corrosive environment.
Avoid the usage or storage of this product in an environment which may be exposed
to corrosive gases, such as those including but not limited to: sulfur dioxide, hydrogen
sulfide, nitrogen dioxide, chlorine, ammonia and/or ozone.
Avoid installing this product in a dusty environment or one that may be exposed to
corrosive materials such as sodium chloride and/or sulfur, or conductive metal
particles in the air.
Such environments may cause corrosion on the printed board in this product, resulting
in not only damage to this product, but may even lead to a smoke or fire hazard.

Cautions for maintenance.
!Warning
Do not disassemble, repair, or modify it by yourself.
Never disassemble, repair, or modify it by yourself. It may cause malfunction,
electric shock, or fire.
Do not remove the Lithium Battery/Lithium Ion Buttery.
This product has a lithium battery/lithium ion battery. Do not detach it except
when you dispose this product. If the battery is exposed to fire or water, it could
explode.
Do not clean this product without removing the plug.
Remove the power plug from the receptacle when cleaning. Otherwise it may
cause an electric shock.
!Caution
Avoid installation in extreme temperature conditions.
Immediately after this product is powered off, its internal components such as
hard disks are very hot. Leave this product until its internal components fully cool
down before installing/removing any component.
Do not leave the power cord and interface cable connected loosely.
Please connect the power cord and interface cable to this product firmly. A loose
connection can cause a contact failure and can lead to smoke or fire.

Cautions after installation and during operation
!Caution
Be careful not to get caught.
When this unit is operating, be careful not to insert your finger into the cooling fan
opening. Keep your hair from getting caught.
Do not touch it at thundering.
Remove the power plug from the receptacle when thundering starts. If it starts
before you remove the power plug, do not touch this product. It may cause an
electric shock.
Keep your pets away from it.
Keep animals such as your pets away from the unit. Their excrement or hair may
enter the unit, which may cause fire.
Do not use a cellular phone or pager around this product.
Turn off the cellular phone or pager. Radio interference may cause malfunctions of
this product.

製品を使用した場合、資産(データやその他の装置)が破壊されるおそれがありますので必ずお守り

本製品は大変静電気に弱い電子部品です。本体装置の金属フレーム部分などに触れて身体の静
電気を逃がしてから取り扱ってください。また、本製品の端子部分や部品を素手で触ったり、
直接机の上に置いたりしないでください。
本製品を落としたり物にぶつけたりしないでください、誤動作や故障するおそれがあります。
本書及びディスクアレイ装置に添付されているユーザーズガイドに記載されている説明をよ
くお読みになり、正しく取り扱ってください。
Precautions on Use - Operating this product properly -
The following precautions must be observed when using this controller. Ignoring these precautions while
using this controller will result in the destruction of assets (data and other devices).
Please observe the following.
This product is sensitive to static electricity. Please discharge any static electricity by touching a
metal object such as the metal frame of the computer before handling the product. Moreover,
do not touch the contacts of the product, or place the product on a desk.
Do not drop or hit the product. Doing so can lead to malfunction or failure.
Please read this manual and the manuals which came with disk array unit, and handle the
product correctly.

この内容をお伝えください。また、保証書の製造番号と本製品の製造番号が一致していま
せんと、本製品が保証期間内に故障した場合でも保証を受けられないことがありますので
ご確認ください。
・ 弊社が認定していない装置またはケーブルなどを接続したことによる故障に
ついては、責任を負いかねますのでご了承ください。
修理に出される前に
「故障かな？」と思ったら、以下の手順を行ってください。
①電源コードおよび SAS ケーブルがディスクアレイ装置に正しく接続されていることを確認してくだ
さい。
②ディスクアレイ装置のユーザーズガイド参照し、そこに記載されている症状あるいはエラーメッセ
ージに対応する処理を行ってください。
上記の処理を行っても異常がみられる時には、無理な操作をせずに、お買い求めの販売店もしくは保守
サービス会社にご連絡ください。
・ 本製品は日本国内仕様のため、海外拠点で修理することは出来ませんので
ご了承ください。

修理に出されるときには、次のものをご用意ください。
①保証書
②LED の表示状態とディスプレイ装置に表示されたエラーメッセージのメモ
③障害情報
④本体装置および周辺機器の記録
保守サービス
保守サービスは自営保守販売店および保守サービス会社によって行われます。ご安心のサービス
内容にて、ご都合に合わせてご利用頂けます。保守サービスをお受けになる際は、お買い求めの
販売店もしくは保守サービス会社にご相談ください。
尚、お客様に合わせて 2 種類の保守サービスをご用意しております。
・保守サービスメニュー
①契約保守サービス
お客様のご要求により優先的に技術者を派遣し、修理にあたります。この保守
方式は、装置に応じた一定料金で実施させて頂くもので、お客様との間で出張
修理契約を結ばせて頂きます。
②未契約修理
お客様のご要求により技術者を派遣し、修理にあたります。保守または修理に
関する料金はその都度精算する方式で、作業の内容によって異なります。
