Electronic Water Timer Instructions
Model 56606 Specications
Water Connection: 3/4”
Hose Connection: 3/4”
Watering Cycles: 18 (plus on/off)
Batteries: 2 - “AA”
Low Battery Detection: [ LOW BAT] will
display on LCD. Timer will stop running when
battery voltage is low. If timer is in [ON] position,
it will automatically shut-off.
Note: Batteries should last 1 season with average usage.
Important Safety Information
1. Warning: This timer is intended for outdoor, residential watering
applications only. Not intended for indoor or commercial use.
2. Use fabric reinforced hoses only; damaged or cracked hoses
should not be used.
3. Remove the timer from the faucet during freezing weather and
store inside. Exposure to temperatures below 0° C (32° F) may
damage the unit.
4. Timer should not be submerged in water, used in damp pits,
or buried.

5. Check connections regularly for a tight seal.
6. Whenusingforthersttime,observetheprogressforone
week to ensure that it is operating properly.
7. Before a long absence/vacation, insert new batteries and test
your program.
8. When storing, turn to the [OFF] position. Make sure the unit is
completely empty of water and in a frost-free environment only.
Remove the batteries.
9. Use 2”AA” alkaline batteries only. Do not use rechargeable
batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix alkaline,
standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium)
batteries.
10. Install new batteries at the start of the watering season.
11. Use timer in the proper orientation only; do not use sideways,
upside down, etc.
12. No user-serviceable parts inside timer housing. Opening
housing will void warranty and cause potential leakage.
13. CAUTION: This timer contains internal electronic components
that are susceptible to damage by static electricity. If your timer
begins to malfunction, it is possible that your timer has been
exposed to static electricity. In such an event, you may reset your
timer by removing and reinserting the batteries.
14. CAUTION: Detach timer from spigot during freezing weather.
Do not use with water exceeding 38° C (100° F) or with pressures
exceeding 6,9 BARS (100 psi).
For pressures exceeding 6,9 BARS (100 psi), consult a local
plumber for pressure regulation. Avoid pulling or tugging on the
hose as damage to the timer may result.
Operating Instructions

from LCD before using.
I. Insert Batteries
NOTE: Before every battery change, turn off timer’s water supply
at your outdoor faucet and then remove the timer from the faucet.
TIP: Clean metal contacts with a clean cloth when replacing
batteries
1. Remove battery cover plate on the timer.
2. Insert 2 – “AA” batteries as pictured (on back cover)
NOTE: When changing batteries (after initial installation),
correct time will be maintained if battery change occurs within
10 seconds.
II. Set the Current Time
1. Use the [+] button to increase time displayed.
2. Use the [-] button to decrease time displayed.
3. Make sure that the correct AM / PM is displayed
TIP: Holding [+] or [-] button allows you to scroll more quickly
through your time selection.

NOTE: Clock is set on standard time. To change to military (24
hour) time, depress both [+] and [-] buttons simultaneously and
hold for 5 seconds. If switched to military time, depress both [+]
and [-] buttons to return to standard time.
III. Attach Timer to Faucet
1. Byhand,rmlyattachthecouplingnutonyourtimertoyour
faucet. Do not use tools to attach as overtightening may occur.
IV. Attach Hose to Timer
1. Firmly attach your hose with sprinkler to the timer. Position
your sprinkler where desired in the yard. Damage to the timer or
spigot may occur if you pull on the hose too hard.
V. Selecting a Watering Cycle
NOTE: Timer has 18 pre-set selections. 9 for lawn watering in
Mode 1 (Light gray outer ring on dial) and 9 for systems requiring
shorter water durations (drip, etc.) in Mode 2 (Dark gray inner ring
on dial.) To change between modes, turn dial to [MODE] and
press [+] or [-] buttons. Display screen will display [M1] for Mode
1 or [M2] for Mode 2.
1. Select either Mode 1 or Mode 2 depending on type of watering
(lawn watering or drip system)
2. Turn the dial to select one of the 18 settings you wish to run:
(Mode 1) Come on every day at 6 AM and run for 15, 30, or 60
minutes. Come on every other day at 6 AM and run for 15, 30, or
60 minutes. Come on every day at 6 AM and 6 PM and run for
15, 30, or 60 minutes. (Mode 2) Come on every day at 6 AM and
run for 1, 2, or 5 minutes. Come on every other day at 6 AM and
run for 1, 2, or 5 minutes. Come on every day at 6 AM and 6 PM
and run for 1, 2, or 5 minutes.
VI. Run Timer
1. Once you have selected a watering cycle, turn on the timer’s
water supply. That’s it! Water will come on and shut off at the
selected time.
NOTE: A cycle will not start if the Start Time has already passed
when you select a cycle. For example, if you are manually
watering at 6:15 AM and then turn the dial to Every Day at 6 AM,
the timer will NOT come on until the following day at 6AM.
VII. MANUAL ON/MANUAL OFF
1. To use your hose for a non-timed application, with the water
turned on at the facet, turn the dial to [ON] and water will start
running immediately. Water will continue to run until you turn it to
[OFF] or select a watering cycle on the dial. If left in the [ON]
position, water will shut off after 180 minutes (3 hours) as a

security feature.
2. Time elapsed during the 180-minute manual watering time will
“count down” on the LCD. Once the unit is done counting down,
the LCD will display 0:00 to indicate the countdown was
successful. Return the selection dial to [OFF] or select a
programmed cycle to run.
TIP: You can adjust the manual watering time to shut off after 15-
180 minutes by using the [+] or [-] buttons. Adjusts in 15-minute
increments.
3. To continue manual watering beyond 180 minutes, turn to
[OFF] and then return to [ON] position for up to 180 additional
minutes.
Nelson Warranty
Electronic products are warranted for two (2) years. In the event
of such defects, Nelson will repair or replace, at its option, the
product or the defective part. This warranty does not extend
to damage to a Nelson product or part resulting from accident,
misuse, alteration, neglect, abuse, improper installation or normal
wear and tear to the exterior appearance and color. The warranty
extends only to the original use of the Nelson product. This
warranty does not extend to cover losses suffered to plants,
animals, landscaping, or increased water usage in the event of a
timer defect or malfunction. If a defect arises in a Nelson product
or part within the warranty period, contact your Nelson Retailer,
Distributor, or Robert Bosch Tool Corporation. Nelson may, at its option,
require the product or part to be returned to a Nelson service point
or your retailer or distributor. Nelson will determine whether the
claimed defect is covered by warranty. If coverage is found, the
product will be repaired or replaced. Please allow 4 – 6 weeks for
completion of repairs or replacement and return of the product or
part. If a product or part is replaced, the replacement is warranted
only for the remainder of the original or part warranty period. This
warranty gives you legal rights and you may also have
other rights from state to state. Robert Bosch Tool Corporation does
not authorize any person to create for it any other obligation or
liability in connection with Nelson products.
