EN-EL 19 rechargeable Li-ion battery for
use exclusively in Nikon digital cameras.
It can be charged repeatedly using
an
MH-66 battery charger or a camera that
supports charging. When using this
product, be sure
to read not only this
manual
but also the documentation pro-
vided
with the camera. Check the cam-
era manual to confirm that the EN-EL 19
can be used in your camera.
Safety Precautions
To ensure proper operation, read this
manual
thoroughly before using this
product. After reading, be sure
to keep
it where it will be read by all those who
use the product.
&WARNINGS
·The EN-EL 19 is a rechargeable battery
for use only with Nikon digital cam-
eras.
·When charging the EN-EL 19, use only
the MH-66 battery charger or a camera
that supports charging.
• Do not expose the battery to heat or
flame.
· Do
not attempt to disassemble or
modify the battery.
·Do not short the battery terminals
with a metal object such as a necklace
or keys.
Failure to follow these instructions could
cause
the battery to leak corrosive liq-
uids, overheat, explode, or cause
other
damage to the battery.
Precautionsfor Use

After removing the battery from the
camera for storage
or transportation,
be sure toplaceitin thesupplied battery
case. Shortingthebatterycouldresultin
leakagf;!, fire explosion, or otherdamage
to the batt~ry.
• EN-EL 19 rechargeable batteries are for
use with compatible devices only.
•
See the documentation provided with
the MH-66 battery charger or camera
for charging information,
as well as
for further cautions and warnings that
must be observed when charging.
·Charge the battery before first use or
any
other use that follows an extended
period
of disuse.
• Do
not use the battery at ambient tem-
peratures below O'C (32'F) or above
40 oc (1 04 "F). Failure to observe this
precaution could
damage the battery
or impair its performance.
• Charge indoors at
ambient tempera-
tures
between 5 and 35 oc (41 to 95 OF).
·The batterywill not charge if its temper-
ature is below 0 oc (32 'F) or above 60 "C
(140 "F) Charging times may increase
and capacity may
drop at battery tem-
peratures from 0 to 15 oc (32 to 59 oF)
and capacity may drop at temperatures
from 45 to 60 T (113 to 140 OF).
• Do not attempt to charge a fully-
charged battery. Failure
to observe this
precaution will result in reduced battery
performance.

You may notice that the battery is hot di-
rectly after use or charging; this does not
indicate a malfunction.
·In cold conditions, the battery may re-
quire frequent charging even when ful-
ly charged. It
is recommended that you
keep a fully-charged spare battery in a
warm place and exchange as necessary
when taking pictures in cold weather.
• A
marked drop in the time a fully-
charged battery retains its charge, when
used at room temperature, indicates
that the battery needs to be replaced.
Purchase a
new EN-EL 19 battery.
·Charge the battery within six months
after each use.
• If the battery will not be used for some
time, insert it in the camera and run it
flat before
removing it and placing it
in the supplied battery case for stor-
age. Store in a dry,
cool location; ambi-
ent temperatures of 15 to 25 oc (59 to
77 oF) are recommended. Avoid hot or
extremely cold locations.
• Remove
the battery from the camera
or charger when it is not in use. These
devices
draw minute amounts of power
even when off and may drain the bat-
tery to the point that it no longer func-
tions.
• Should
the battery terminals become
dirty, wipe them off with a clean, dry
cloth before use.
• Should you notice smoke or an unusual
smell
coming from the charger, unplug
it, taking care to avoid burns. Take the
charger to a Nikon representative for in-
spection.
• Used batteries are a valuable resource.
Please recycle used batteries in accor-
dance with local regulations.
