• Turn the camera offimmediately in the event of malfunction. Should you no-

• Observe the following precautions when handling the lens and camera:

- Keep the sun well out of the frame when shooting backlit subjects. Sunlight fo -

lens will nor be used for an ex tended period, attach the front and rear l ens
caps and store t he l ens out of di re ct su nlight Ifleft in direct sunlight, the l ens could
focus the sun's rays onto flammable objects, caus ing fi re

• Do not leave the lens where it will be exposed to extremely high tempera-

LOCK : The lens does not retract when the ca me ra is turned off, and can be used
immedi ate ly after the camera isturned on. To retract the l ens, sl i de the retractable l ens
lock sw itch to OFF before turni ng the camera off.

Using a Lens Hood
L ens hoo ds protect the lens and block stray light that wou ld otherwise cause flare or
ghost
in g.
• Attaching a lens Hood (Figure 1)
Attach the hood as shown in F1gure 2. Align t he lens hood lock mar k (- 0 1with the
l
ens hood mounting ma rk 1=1 on the l ens (Fig ure 2 -0 1.
Whe n attachi ng or removi ng t he hood, hold it nea r the (r ) symbol on i ts base and
avoid
gr ippi ng it too tightly. Vig netting may occur if the hood isnot correctly attached.

he hood can be reve rs ed and mounted on the l ens when not in use. When the hood
is reversed ,it can be attached and removed by rotating it w hi le holding it nea rthe lock
ma rk (- 0 1.

Lens Care
• When using atripod, attach an optional TA-NlOO tripod mounting sp a cer to the cam-
era. See the camera manual for more information.

· Keep the CPU contacts cle an.
• Use ablower to remove dust and lint f rom th e l ens surfaces. To r emove sm u dges a nd fi n-
gerpr i nts, app ly a small amount ofethanol or l ens cl eaner to a soft, clean cotton cloth or
l
ens-c l eaning tissue and clean from the ce n ter outwards us in g acir cu l ar motion, tak i ng care
not to leave smears ortouch th e glass with your fi n gers.
· Ne ver use or gan ic solven ts such as paint thin ne r or benzene to clean the lens.
· The lens hood or NC fi lt ers ca n be u sed to protect th efr on t le ns elemen t.
