General Informaon
SAFETY INFORMATION
Please read carefully the following notes to be
able to properly use the FastGene®Blue/Green
Transilluminator DE.
• Using FastGene®Blue/Green Transilluminator
DE instrument will normally not injure eyes,
skins, and samples. However, prolonged
exposure of human naked eyes with light
irradiaon in the blue spectrum may increase
the probability of suering from rena
diseases. Therefore, we recommend using
the amber goggle or an amber shield.
• Operate the Transilluminator only if it is
connected to a safety socket.
• Place the unit on a level and stable surface
with minimal chance of dropping.
• The device and the LEDs can heat up aer
some me.
• Use this device only with the supplied or an
equal power adaptor.
WARRANTY
The FastGene®Blue/Green Transilluminator DE
is warranted against defects in materials and
workmanship for 1 year. In case of any defects
occurring in the instrument or accessories during
this warranty period, NIPPON Genecs EUROPE
will repair or replace the defecve parts at its
discreon without charge.
The following defects, however, are specically
excluded:
• Defects caused by improper operaon.
• Repair or modicaon done by anyone
other than NIPPON Genecs EUROPE or an
authorized agent.
• Damage caused by substung alternave
parts.
• Use of ngs or spare parts supplied
by anyone other than NIPPON Genecs
EUROPE.
• Damage caused by accident or misuse.
• Damage caused by disaster.
• Corrosion caused by improper solvent or
sample.
For any inquiry or request for repair service,
contact NIPPON Genecs EUROPE or your local
distributor. Please send a message containing
informaon about the model and serial number of
your instrument.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Please, read the installaon instrucon carefully
before using the FastGene®Blue/Green
Transilluminator DE. This instrument is intended
for clinical and research laboratory use with DNA
gel acvaon and it must be operated only by
specialized personnel aware of the potenal risks
associated with the chemical and biological agents
normally used with this unit and the health risks
associated with blue light radiaon. Please wear
use the amber shield for your own protecon!
Please make sure to connect the instrument
only to a safety grounded socket!

Installaon
INSTALLATION
Carefully unpack the transilluminator and follow
the instrucon steps:
1. The instrument must be placed on a at
horizontal bench top leaving at least 10 cm
of space all around in order to avoid any
obstacle that may reduce the venlaon.
2. Connect the instrument to the power using
the annexed cable and power adaptor.
The power font must be able to deliver at
least 250 VA with a voltage between 100
and 240 Vac. The plug must have a ground
connecon.
General Precausions
• Plug the transilluminator on an electric
line with ground connecon by using the
annexed power adaptor.
• Do not pour liquids directly on the
transilluminator.
• Switch o the instrument immediately aer
usage.
• Posion the transilluminator to prevent harm
to nearby operators.
• During the operaon of the transilluminator,
please wear amber googles or look through
the amber shield.
• Clean with ddH2O, alcohol or appropriate
cleaning agents according to the chemicals
used.
• Always wear disposable gloves.

General Precausions
Using the transilluminator
Place gel/sample on the transparent glass support area. It is recommended that researchers place the gels
on a Gel Tray to protect the glass surface from cuts and scratches, caused by the use of a scalpel for cung
the gel. It is recommended that gloves are to be worn to prevent skin contact with gel and staining agents.
Press the switch to turn the device on. The LEDs within the unit will begin glowing beneath the glass surface.
Aer viewing the sample, turn the transilluminator o.

Heat protecon:
The FastGene® Blue/Green Transilluminator DE is equipped with a heat protecon. The LEDs will shut o
for 5 minutes if a specic temperature is detected. During the “cooling phase” the switch is blinking. Aer
cooling down the LEDs will not switch on automacally and the switch is not blinking anymore. You can now
switch on the transilluminator again.

not shining
The power cable is not plugged into a power socket or is not connected to
the Power Supply.
B/G LEDs are not shining.
Switch is blinking
The Transilluminator is in the “heat protecon” mode. Please wait 5
minutes.
