call.Press the endkey to end a call or return to the idlestate (standby mode).
■ Phone menus
Phonefeatures are groupedaccording to function and are accessedthrough the
mainmenus. Each mainmenu contains submenusand listsfrom which you can
select or view items andcustomize your phone features. To access these menus
andsubmenus, use the scroll method or a shortcut.
You can change yourmenu view from list to grid.Select Menu >Options > Main
menuview >List or Grid.
Note:Somefeatures maynot be available, depending onyour network.

Scroll method
Youcanusethefour-wayscrollkey to scrollup, down, left,andright
through the options.
1. In the standby mode, select Menu, and scroll through the main
menususing thescroll key.
Asyouscrollthroughthemenus,themenunumberappearsintheupperright
cornerof the display. Below thebattery level indicator is a scroll bar witha
tabthatmoves up ordown on the right sideofthedisplayscreen as you scroll
throughthemenus,providing a visualrepresentationof your currentposition
inthe menustructure.
2. When you arrive at a menu, press the centerselectionkey to selectsubmenus.
• Select Back(the right selection key) to returnto the previous menu.
• Press the end key to return to the standby mode from any menu or
submenu.

In-phone help
Manyfeatures havebrief descriptions (helptext) you can view onthe display. To
viewthese descriptions, you mustfirst activate help textas follows.
Inthestandbymode,select Menu > Settings>Phone>Helptextactivation>On
orOff.
Scrollto a featureand wait about 14 seconds. Scroll down to viewall of the
description, or select Backto exit.
■ Security feature
The security feature protects your device fromunauthorizedoutgoing calls or
access to the stored information with the lockandsecruity codes. The lock code
isa fourdigit number whilethe security code a five digit one. Bydefault, the
securityfeatureusesthelockcode(defaulted tothelast four digits of your phone
number) instead of thesecurity code toprotect your phone.
You need to enterthe lock code to access the following Securityoption:
1. In the standby mode, select Menu> Settings > Security.
2. Enterthe lock code, and select OK. See"Security settings,"p. 71.
Note: Depending onyour wireless service provider, thepreset lock code
maybe 1234 or 0000 insteadof thelast fourdigits of your phone
number.If none of these work, contactyour wireless service provider for
help.
Your device, by default, requiresyou to enter the lockcode to restore factory
settings:
1. In the standby mode, select Menu> Settings > Restoresettings.
2. Enterthe lock code, and select OK. See"Change lockcode,"p. 72.
Note: Depending onyour wireless service provider, your devicemay
sometimes askyou for the security code(defaulted to 12345) instead of
thelock code.
■ Go to functions
TheGoto menu enables youto changethefunction of the left selectionkey on
yourphone.With this function, youcanquickly access your most frequentlyused
functionsfrom theGoto menu in the standby mode.

■ Antenna
Yourdevice has two antennas—the fixed antenna is active unless
theextendable antenna isfully extended.
In the Nokia 3155i phone, theGPS antenna is also internalandis
activatedwhen placing emergency calls or when On isselected
fromthe Locationinfosharing menu (acarrier-dependent
feature). See"Location infosharing,"p. 63.
Yourdevice has a fixed and extendableantenna located
towardsthe top of the phone withthe fold closed.Hold the
phonewith the antennaarea pointed up and overyour
shoulder.
Note: Do not touch the antenna unnecessarily with
thedevice switchedon. Contact with the antenna
affects call quality andmay cause the device to
operate at a higher power level than otherwise
needed. Not touching the antenna area during a
phone call optimizes the antenna performance and
battery life.
■ Battery
Note: Before removingthe cover,always switchoff
thepower and disconnect the chargerand anyother device. Avoid
touchingelectroniccomponentswhilechangingthecovers.Alwaysstore
anduse thedevice with the coversattached.

cover
1. Set the backcover onthe
phone with the cover tabs
alignedwith the slotsin
thephone.
2. Slide the backcover
toward the top of the phoneuntil the back cover is securely in place.
Charge the battery
1. Plugthe charger transformerinto a standardACoutlet.
2. Insertthe charger output
plug into the round jack at
thebottom end ofthe
phone.
Aftera few seconds, the
battery indicator in the
displaystartstoscrollfrom
bottom to top. If the
battery is completely discharged, itmaytake afew minutes before the
chargingindicator appears onthe displayor before any callscan bemade.
Warning: Use only batteries, chargers, andenhancements approved by
Nokiafor usewith this particular model. Theuse ofany other types may
invalidate any approval orwarranty, andmay bedangerous.
■Turn your phone on or off
1. Toturn yourphone onor off, press and hold the end keyon the keypad for at
least 4 seconds.
2. Enterthelock code,ifnecessary, and selectOK. See "Changelockcode," p. 72.

Pop-Port connector at thebottom end

2. Position the headset on your ear.
With the headset connected,you can
make,answer, and endcalls as usual.
• Use the keypad to enter numbers.
• Press the call key to place a call. See
"Phoneat a glance,"p. 10.
• Press the end key to end a call.
Youcan also plug acompatible headset,
suchas theHS-9 Universal Headset,into
the 2.5-mm headset jack on the right side
ofyour phone toallow hands-free
operation. See "Enhancement settings,"
p. 70.
■ Make a call
Note: Before making orreceiving acall, fullyextend the whip antenna.
Keypad
1. Enter the phone number (including the area code), and press thecall key.(To
delete a characterto the left ofthe cursor,select Clear.)
2. Press the end key to end the call, or select Endcallto cancel the call attempt.

1. In the standby mode, scroll down to display your contacts list and highlight
yourdesired entry.
2. Press the call key to make the call, or select Options > Contactdetails >
Select to view detailsof the entry.
Last dialed number
1. In the standby mode, press the call key to display the last 30 numbers dialed.
2. Scroll to the number (or name) you want to redial, and press the call key.
Conference calling
Conference calling is a network service thatallows you totake partin a
conferencecall withtwo other participants.
1. Make a call to the first participant.
2. With the first participant on the line, select Options > Newcall.
3. Enter the phone number of the secondparticipant, or select Searchto
retrieve a number fromthe contactslist. Select Call. The first participantis
putonhold.
4. When the second participant picks up, press the call key to connect the calls.
5. To end the conference call, select Options > Endallcalls, or press theend key.
■ Answer calls
An incoming call
1. With the fold open, press the call key, or select Answer toanswer the call.
2. Press the end key to reject the call.
Select Silence tomutethe ringingtone,thenDismiss, or do nothing. The call
is eventually diverted to voicemail.
Withyourphonesettosilent in theprofilesmenu,selectDismiss to divert the
callto voicemail.
3. With the fold closed, press the volumekey to mute the ringing tone.
