13. A short power-supply cord or detachable power-supply cord is provided to
reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer
cord. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or touch hot surfaces.
14. Always plug cord into wall outlet before operation. There is no on/o switch. To turn
o, remove plug from wall outlet. Allow unit to cool completely before putting away.
15. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and
may be used if care is exercised in their use. Exception: An extension cord or
longer detachable cord is not recommended for use with this appliance.
16. If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used: 1) The marked
electrical rating of the cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the
electrical rating of the appliance; 2) If the appliance is of the grounded type,
the extension cord should be a grounding 3-wire cord; and 3) The longer cord
should be arranged so that it does not drape over the countertop or table top
where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.
17. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce
the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to t into a polarized outlet only one
way. If the plug does not t fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not t,
contact a qualied electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
18. Extreme caution should be used when moving an appliance with hot food.
19. Do not attempt to service this appliance yourself, as opening or
removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage or other
hazards. Refer all servicing to qualied service personnel.
20. Churros and empanadas will be very hot. Use a plastic or
wooden kitchen utensil to carefully scoop them out.
21. Extreme caution must be used when opening and closing the Lid on this unit.
Use an oven mitt or pot holder when opening and closing the Lid for safety.

Thank you for purchasing the 2-IN-1 CHURROS & EMPANADA BAKERY from
Nostalgia™! Now you can enjoy freshly-baked, authentic churros and empanadas
at home anytime! Best of all, there’s no need to use a deep fryer or oven. The
2-IN-1 CHURROS & EMPANADA BAKERY includes interchangeable cooking plates
that allow you to bake either six churros or two empanadas per batch.
These delicious churros and empanadas bake up crispy and brown on
the outside, and moist and chewy on the inside. Use the included recipes
for a variety of delicious churros and empanadas, and serve them with
your favorite dipping sauces. Use your imagination and have fun!

HOW TO OPERATE
1. Before rst use, wipe down all surfaces with a dry, non-abrasive cloth.
2. Find a dry, suitable, level surface near an electrical outlet.
3. Insert the desired Cooking Plates into the Main Unit.
4. The Cooking Plates should be lightly coated with a small amount of vegetable
oil. Vegetable oil can be applied with a paper towel or with a nonstick oil
spray. The oil will help protect the nonstick quality of the cooking surface.
This should be done periodically to maintain the nonstick quality.
5. Preheat the appliance by closing the Lid and plugging into an electrical outlet.
6. When the power is on, the Red Power Light
will come on. The Green Ready Light will stay
on while the appliance is preheating.
7. The appliance should preheat for a minimum
of 3 minutes. The Green Ready Light will turn
o when the appliance is ready to cook.
8. While the appliance is preheating, you may prepare
your ingredients for churros or empanadas. Refer to the Helpful Tips section for
instructions on dispensing churros batter, or making and forming empanadas.
9. Raise the Lid using an oven mitt or pot holder to prevent accidental burns.
10. When using Churros Cooking Plates, pour batter in the individual wells on the Lower
Cooking Surface. If making empanadas, carefully place empanadas in the individual wells
on the Lower Cooking Surface. BE CAREFUL as the Cooking Surfaces will be extremely hot.
11. Close the Lid using a pot holder or oven mitt.
Make sure Lid is locked by closing latch.
Steam may be released from appliance during
cooking. For your safety, avoid contact with steam, as
it is very hot and can cause burns.
12. The cooking time will range between 3-7 minutes.
13. Once completed cooking, unlock and raise the
Lid with a pot holder or oven mitt. Remove the churros or empanadas from
the Cooking Plates with a plastic or wooden kitchen utensil. DO NOT use
metal utensils, as they may scratch and damage the Cooking Plates.
14. If cooking more than one batch in a session, lower the lid
in between cooking to maintain the heat.
15. As soon as you are nished cooking, unplug appliance and allow to cool.
16. Once the appliance is cool, follow the directions in the Cleaning and
Maintenance section to clean your 2-IN-1 CHURROS & EMPANADA BAKERY.

HELPFUL TIPS
NEVER leave the unit unattended while operating.
Smoking
During rst use, you may notice slight smoking or a slight odor; this is normal
with most new appliances. The smoking and odor is caused by the residues
burning o the nonstick Cooking Plates and the Heating Element. Allow
the appliance to preheat until smoke and odor no longer exists.
MAKING CHURROS
Use the following guidelines to make delectable churros with
your 2-IN-1 CHURROS & EMPANADA BAKERY:
Dispensing Batter
Churros batter will be slightly thicker than pancake batter. You may
pour, spoon or use a pastry bag to dispense batter into the wells
on the Lower Cooking Surface. (Pastry bag not included.)
Be careful not to overll the wells with batter. Batter should be no
higher than the tops of the wells of the Lower Cooking Surface.
Seasoning Churros
Churros are traditionally coated with a mix of cinnamon and granulated sugar. However,
you may use your favorite combination of sugars and spices, including brown sugar,
powdered sugar, espresso powder, nutmeg and more. Be creative and have fun!
Use the following easy method for coating churros in your favorite sugar/spice mixture:
• Place desired sugar/spice mixture in 1-gallon plastic resealable bag.
• Place warm churros in bag and seal.
• Shake to coat. Remove churros and enjoy.
Making Churros on a Stick
You may use bamboo or popsicle sticks to make churros on a stick in
your 2-IN-1 CHURROS & EMPANADA BAKERY. (Sticks not included.) In
order to make churros on a stick, we recommend the following:
• Fill preheated wells in Lower Cooking Surface with batter.
• Place stick in center of batter, at least halfway through.
• Align sticks with notches in Lower Cooking Surface.
• Be sure to cover stick with batter to ensure the churros
fully adhere to sticks and cook evenly.

MAKING EMPANADAS
Follow these steps to make mouth-watering empanadas with
your 2-IN-1 CHURROS & EMPANADA BAKERY:
• Place the empanada dough on a oured countertop and roll into a 1/8inch thick layer.
• Cut the dough into circles, slightly larger than the Empanada
Former. Place in the Empanada Former.
• Close the empanada former so sides of
dough cinch together. Remove the excess
dough from the outside of the empanada
former. If the edges of the dough do not stick
together, dab water or egg wash along the
inside edge of the dough and try again.
• Brush both sides of formed empanadas
with egg wash, if desired.
• Place in preheated wells of Lower Cooking Surface.
Close the Lid and cook for 3-7 minutes.
• Open Lid with a pot holder or oven mitt. Remove each with a wooden or plastic
kitchen utensil. DO NOT use metal utensils as they can scratch the surface.
Enjoy your freshly baked empanadas!
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
Please take care of your 2-IN-1 CHURROS & EMPANADA BAKERY by following
these simple instructions and precautions. Cleaning is a snap.
• Disconnect from the electrical outlet by unplugging the appliance.
• Make sure the appliance is cool before cleaning.
• Remove all Cooking Plates.
• Hand wash Cooking Plates and Empanada Former in warm, soapy water using
a non-abrasive cloth. Rinse and dry with a non-abrasive cloth or towel.
• Wipe the exterior of the Main Unit with a dry, non-abrasive cloth.
• NEVER use scouring pads or abrasive cleaners on this unit
as it will damage the surface and parts.
• DO NOT put any parts in the dishwasher.
• NEVER immerse 2-IN-1 CHURROS & EMPANADA BAKERY in water.
