NU-850 Digital Talking Timer
FEATURES
Three Independent Functions - lets you use simultaneously and independently the count up
timer, talking countdown timer and talking clock. Voice Announcement - announces the time
remaining to 0:00:00 and the over time during countdown.
Auto Repeat - restarts the countdown automatically after reaching 0:00:00.
Alarm Sounds - lets you use different alarm sounds for different activities.
Memory -- lets you store one countdown time setting- avoiding repeated setting.
Voice n/ ff - lets you turn off the voice announcement.
24 Hour Count up and Countdown – maximum count-up and count-down is 23:59:59
Important Note: The controls for the Voice Announcement, Alarm Sounds and Auto Repeat are
found underneath by grasping the grippers on each side while holding the top firmly. ull the bottom
panel straight down to open. ,
OPERATION
SETTING C UNTD WN TIME
1. Slide the function switch on the side) to COUNT DOWN.
2 Press HR.MIN, and SECOND buttons to set the hour, minute and second respectively for
counting down time. A voice announces the entered value when voice activated. If you press
and hold down HR, MIN, SEC,, the hour, minute or second will advance quickly
STARTING C UNTD WN
1. Press START/STOP to start the countdown, the unit announces the time remaining to
0:00:00 according to the following schedule:
Time Remaining Frequency
time > 60 minutes every hour
60 min > = time >10min every 10 minutes
10 min > = time > 1 min every 1 minute
1 min > = time > 10 sec every 10 seconds
10 sec > = time > 1 sec every 1 second
2. When counting down to 0:00:00, the alarm will sound for 1 minute while the unit continues to
count up and announces how much time it is over according to the same schedule as above
table. For example, the unit announces "2 minutes over" when it passes
PAUSING/ST PPING C UNTD WN
To stop or pause the countdown, press START/STOP during countdown. To resume press
START/STOP again.
RESETTING C UNTD WN TIME
To reset the countdown time, first stop the countdown. If it is still counting down) by pressing
START/STOP, then press CLEAR to reset to 0:00:00.
AUT REPEAT
This function allows you to restart the count-down reaching 0:00:00. It is a very useful feature
for repetitive activities, taking medicine every 4 hours, doing a series of exercises with 10
minutes for each or checking and experiment every 20 minutes.

countdown time. A voice announces the entered value. If you press and hold down HR.MIN,
and SECOND, the hour, minutes or second will advance quickly.
2. Slide REPEAT switch to YES position
3. Press START/ST P to start the countdown, the unit announces the time remaining to
0:00:00 and restart the countdown to 0:00:00, depending on the ^countdown time you set,
different alarms will be used.

USING MEM RY FUNCTI N
One Countdown time can be stored in the memory which can be recalled by pressing
MEMORY, thus eliminating repeated setting the most-frequently use d count down time.
1. To store the most frequently used countdown time in the memory, first set the countdown
time, then press MEMORY. A steady "MEMORY" word appears on the display, indicating that
a count-down has been stored in the memory.
2. To use the countdown time stor showed in the memory, press MEMORY to recall the
memory and the display shows a flashing "MEMORY". Press START/STOP to start the
countdown
C UNT UP TIMER
USING C UNT UP TIMER
1 . Slide the function switch to C UNT UP.
2. Press START/ST P to start count-up
3. To stop or pause the count up press START/ST P. To resume, press START/ST P again.
4. To reset to 0:00:00, first stop the count up, then press CLEAR.
5. The maximum count-up time is 23:59: 59. When reaching 23:59:59, it will start counting up
from 0:00:00 again.
3. To Clear the memory, press START/ST P to stop" the countdown it is counting down). Then
press MEMORY to recall the existing memory, as shown by a flashing "MEMORY" on the
display followed by pressing CLEAR to clear the memory.
4. To store a new value for the memory, first clear the
memory, then follow step 1 to set a new value in the
memory.
SELECTING ALARM S UNDS
There are 6 different alarm sounds to alert you when counting down to 0.00:00.
1. To select an alarm sound, press repeatedly S UND, the unit will play each alarm sounds
accompanied by its corresponding icon on the display You can select the alarm before start
the countdown or during the countdown
2. When counting down to 0:00:00, the alarm will sounds for 1 minute. To stop the alarm,
press any button.
3. The alarm sound is only for countdown.
4. The alarm sound does not work in count-up or clock mode.

TURNING N/ FF THE V ICE ANN UNCEMENT
The V ICE on/off control lets you turn the countdown timer's voice announcements on or off.
To turn off the voice, repeatedly press V ICE on/off button until" JC " icon shows on the
display. Please note, even the voice is turned off, there will still be alarm sound when counting
down to 0:00:00. To turn on the voice, press V ICE on/off button until "X "disappears on the
display.
Tip: There is no voice announcement for count up. However if you want the voice
announcement during count up, you can use the countdown function and set the time to 1
second. Then the unit will announce the count up time as "over" after 0:00:00.
TALKING CL CK
SETTING THE TIME
1. Slide the function switch to CL CK SET.
2. Press HR, MIN, and SEC ND to set the hour, minute and second respectively. A voice
announces the entered value. If you press and hold down HR, jy|iN nr SECOND the hour, minute
or second will advance quickly.
3. Slide the function switch to CL CK.
TIME ANNOUNCEMENT With the function switch set at CL CK position, pressing any
button except V ICE on/off) will announce the current time. Tip: although there is no
alarm for the clock, you can use the countdown timer to quickly set up the alarm
time. For example, if you want to get up at 7:OOAM 7:00) in the morning and the current
time is 11:OOPM 23:00), you can set 8:00:00 for the countdown timer
and turn off the voice. The alarm one of the 6 you selected) will go off at 7:OOAM 7:00) in
the morning. In fact, this is an easier way of setting the alarm than
the alarm clock.
USING THE C UNT UP, C UNTD WN, AND CL CK
You can operate count up, countdown, and clock simultaneously with affecting each other. For
example, you can start the C UNTD WN then set the switch to COUNT UP to start the count
up timer, i then switch to CL CK. In CL CK mode, both ' countdown and count up are still
running on the background as indicated by the flashing COUNTDOWN and COUNT UP on the
display while a steady CL CK is shown on the display.
CHANGING BATTERIES
This unit is powered by 2 AG13 alkaline batteries. If voice announcements sound weak or the
display jims, replace the batteries. Follow these steps to replace the batteries:
1. Slide open the battery compartment cover.
2. Remove the old batteries and replace with 2 fresh AG13 batteries.
3. Replace the battery compartment cover.
Notes:
1 Remove the batteries from the unit if you do not use the unit for a long period of time.
2. Never mix fresh batteries with old ones.
Common Questions:
Q. I can't find the controls for voice, sounds and repeat.
A. They are found underneath the upper section of the unit. Just pull down on the grippers
provided on each side, holding the top portion firmly.
Q. The Talking Timer does not Talk.
A. Press the voice button to activate or shut off voice.
