Introduction
Validity
These operating instructions are valid for Test Equipment CAL 02. The operating instructions of the dial gauge also
apply and must be observed.
Proper use
The Test Equipment CAL 02 is intended exclusively for verifying the closing force of OETIKER installation tools. Any
other use is considered to be "improper use". Improper use includes, for example, checking the force of tools for which
the Test Equipment CAL 02 has not been approved, and/or checking the force of tools which are not OETIKER
products. The Test Equipment CAL 02 must not be used for imparting blows (as a hammer) or otherwise as a manual
tool. The manufacturer is not liable for any damage resulting from improper use or incorrect operation.

General
The Test Equipment CAL 02 is ‘state of the art’ and is safe. The gauge can give rise to residual dangers if it is used and
operated by untrained persons.
Persons charged with operating and maintaining the Test Equipment CAL 02 must have read and understood the
operating instructions and, in particular, the safety instructions.
The operating authority, not the manufacturer of the Test Equipment CAL 02, is responsible for any injury or damage to
persons or property caused by improper use.
Do not drop Test Equipment CAL 02
Only use the Test Equipment CAL 02 when it is perfect operating condition. Have defective parts replaced immediately.
Use only original OETIKER spare parts and accessories.
Setting, maintenance and repair work on Test Equipment CAL 02 should only be carried out by OETIKER. Only allow
specially trained persons to carry out setting and maintenance work. The operating instructions of the dial gauge also
apply and must be observed.
Function and operation
The Test Equipment CAL 02 is a manual tool for measuring the closing force (SK) by means of a closing force sensor
(SKS 02). It is suitable for use with OETIKER ME/EL pneumatic pincers with a pincer head for ear clamps, and
OETIKER HMK 01 manual pincers with force control. With special pincer heads, the appropriate calibration sets must
be used as detailed in our Tools catalogue.
The purpose of closing force tester OETIKER Test Equipment CAL 02 is to determine and set the closing force of
OETIKER installation tools. OETIKER ear-type clamps should be closed – with force priority – using a specified, uniform
closing force. This results in constant, reproducible tensile forces in the clamp material that are within permissible limits.
It avoids overloading of individual components, the parts being joined, and the clamp. The recommended closing forces
for the appropriate OETIKER product group are given in the relevant Technical Data Sheet.

Determining the closing force
Guide the measuring tip (5) of dial gauge (1) into the adjustment for the dial gauge (8) on the SKS 02 (3)
The measuring tip (5) of dial gauge (1) must rest on the contact pad (9)
Use a 2.5 A/F hexagon key (4) to tighten the socket cap screw (7) until the dial gauge, is adequately retained
Switch on the dial gauge (1)
Use RESET to set the dial gauge (1) to zero (for further details about using the dial gauge, please see the
appropriate operating instructions)
Insert the closing force lugs (6) on SKS 02 (3) into the pincer jaw opening so that they:
- butt against the gauge, and
- are positioned centrally in the pincer jaws.
Operate the pneumatic pincer or close the manual pincer with force control HMK 01 until it starts to vibrate. Repeat
the above procedure several times
Read the display of the dial gauge (1) and evaluate the force measured using the correlation table on page 32.
If necessary, adjust the closing force of the installation tool as described in its operating instructions.
Warning
When operating the pincer, it is possible for a finger to be between the jaws.
When closing the pincer jaws, fingers can be crushed!
Maintenance
OETIKER closing force lugs (6) are required
Undo socket cap screws (11) holding the closing force lugs (6) using 3 A/F hexagon key (4)
Remove worn closing force lugs (6)
Place new closing force lugs (6) in position
Apply a drop of Loctite 243 adhesive (10) to the threads of socket cap screws (11)
Screw in socket cap screws (11) and tighten them (5.6 Nm)
Checking
When dispatched the Test Equipment CAL 02 complies with the technical data given. With respect to the verification of
inspection equipment called for by quality regulations, ensure that the SKS 02 is checked at least once a year. The
annual period for the verification of inspection equipment starts with dispatch not the date of the test report. Please
contact OETIKER and send the SKS 02 back to OETIKER for verification.
The customer must ensure that the dial gauge is checked for accuracy at least once a year.
Taking Out of Service, Storage
Before storage, the Test Equipment CAL 02 and closing force lugs should be cleaned and lightly greased.
Replace defective parts.
Disposal
Dispose of packing material as required by local regulations. When disposing of the Test Equipment CAL 02, national
and regional laws, regulations and directives must always be observed.

Gültigkeitsbereich
Diese Betriebsanleitung ist gültig für das Test Equipment CAL 02. Die Betriebsanleitung der Messuhr ist als
mitgeltendes Dokument zu beachten.
Bestimmungsgemässe Verwendung
Das Test Equipment CAL 02 dient ausschließlich zur Verifizierung von Schliesskräften von OETIKER
Montagewerkzeugen. Jeder darüber hinausgehende Gebrauch gilt als „nicht bestimmungsgemäss“! Hierzu zählen z.B.
die Kraftprüfung von Werkzeugen für welche das Test Equipment CAL 02 nicht freigegeben ist und/oder welche keine
OETIKER Produkte sind. Das Test Equipment CAL 02 darf nicht als Schlagwerkzeug (Hammer) oder als sonstiges
Handwerkzeug verwendet werden. Der Hersteller haftet nicht für Schäden, die durch nicht bestimmungsgemässe
Verwendung oder falsche Bedienung verursacht werden.

Das Test Equipment CAL 02 entspricht dem Stand der Technik und ist betriebssicher. Von dem Gerät können
Restgefahren ausgehen, wenn es von nicht instruierten Personen eingesetzt und bedient wird.
Jede Person, die mit der Bedienung und Wartung Test Equipment CAL 02 beauftragt ist, muss die Betriebsanleitung
und insbesondere die Sicherheitshinweise gelesen und verstanden haben.
Für alle Personen- und Sachschäden, die aus nicht bestimmungsgemäßer Verwendung entstehen, ist nicht der
Hersteller sondern der Betreiber des CAL 02 verantwortlich!
Test Equipment CAL 02 nicht fallen lassen.
Test Equipment CAL 02 nur in einwandfreiem Zustand verwenden. Defekte Teile sofort ersetzen lassen.
Nur Original OETIKER Ersatz- und Zubehörteile verwenden.
Einstellungs-, Wartungs- und Reparaturarbeiten
Reparaturarbeiten am Test Equipment CAL 02 nur von OETIKER bzw. Einstell- und Wartungsarbeiten nur von dafür
speziell ausgebildeten Personen ausführen lassen. Die Betriebsanleitung der Messuhr ist als mitgeltendes Dokument zu
beachten.
Funktion und Bedienung
Das Test Equipment CAL 02 ist ein Handgerät zum Messen der Schliesskraft (SK) mittels Schliesskraftsensor (SKS 02).
Die Anwendbarkeit bezieht sich auf pneumatische Zangen OETIKER ME/EL mit Zangenköpfen für Ohr Klemmen und
die Handzange mit Kraftüberwachung HMK 01. Bei Sonderzangenköpfen sind entsprechende Kalibriersets gemäss
Werkzeugkatalog zu verwenden.
Das Schliesskraftprüfgerät OETIKER Test Equipment CAL 02, dient zur korrekten Ermittlung und Einstellung der
Schliesskraft von OETIKER Montagewerkzeugen. OETIKER Ohr Klemmen-Typen sollten mit einer vorgeschriebenen
und gleichmässigen Schliesskraft – kraftprior – geschlossen werden. Dies führt zu einer gleich bleibend
reproduzierbaren und erlaubten Zugbeanspruchung des Bandmaterials. Einzelne Komponenten, abzubindende Bauteile
und Klemmen werden somit nicht überbeansprucht. Die für die jeweilige OETIKER Produktgruppe empfohlenen
Schliesskräfte sind aus den jeweiligen Technischen Datenblättern zu entnehmen.

Ermittlung der Schliesskraft
Messeinsatz (5) der Messuhr (1) in die Arretierung für Messuhr (8) am SKS 02 (3) einführen
Messeinsatz (5) von Messuhr (1) muss am Anschlag für Messeinsatz (9) aufliegen
Zylinderschraube (7) mit Sechskantschlüssel SW 2.5 (4) anziehen, so dass die Messuhr ausreichend arretiert ist
Messuhr (1) einschalten
Messuhr (1) mit RESET auf Nullstellung setzen (nähere Einzelheiten zur Messuhr entnehmen Sie bitte der
entsprechenden Betriebsanleitung)
Die Schließkraftbacken (6) am SKS 02 (3) bündig in die Zangenöffnung einführen:
- so, dass sie anstoßen und
- im Zentrum der Zangenbacken positioniert sind
Pneumatische Zange auslösen bzw. Handzange mit Kraftüberwachung HMK 01 zusammendrücken bis Vibration
einsetzt. Vorgang mehrfach wiederholen
Anzeige der Messuhr (1) ablesen und Messkraft gemäss Umrechnungstabelle auf Seite 32 auswerten.
Eine ggf. notwendige Einstellung der Schliesskräfte gemäss Betriebsanleitung des entsprechenden
Montagewerkzeuges durchführen.
Warnung
Beim Betätigen der Zange können Finger eingeklemmt werden.
Beim Schliessen der Zangenschneiden können Finger gequetscht werden.
Wartung
Es werden OETIKER Schliesskraftbacken (6) benötigt
Zylinderschrauben (11) an den Schliesskraftbacken (6) mit Sechskantschlüssel SW 3 (4) lösen
Verschlissene Schliesskraftbacken (6) entnehmen
Neue Schliesskraftbacken (6) einsetzen
Gewinde der Zylinderschrauben (11) mit Loctite Klebstoff (10) benetzen
Zylinderschrauben (11) anziehen (5.6 Nm)
Überprüfung
Das Test Equipment CAL 02 entspricht bei Auslieferung den angegebenen technischen Daten. Im Hinblick auf die nach
Qualitätsvorschriften geltende Notwendigkeit der Prüfmittelüberwachung, sollte mindestens einmal jährlich eine
Überprüfung des SKS 02 sichergestellt werden. Der jährliche Rhythmus der Überprüfung beginnt mit der Auslieferung
und bezieht sich nicht auf den Zeitpunkt des Prüfprotokolls. Bitte nehmen sie hierzu Kontakt zu OETIKER auf und
senden sie den SKS 02 an OETIKER zurück.
Die Prüfuhr sollte kundenseitig regelmässig auf deren Genauigkeit geprüft werden.
Ausserbetriebsetzung, Aufbewahrung
Das Test Equipment CAL 02 bzw. Schliesskraftbacken vor dem Einlagern reinigen und leicht einfetten
Defekte Teile ersetzen
Entsorgung
Verpackungsmaterial gemäss den örtlichen Vorschriften entsorgen. Bei der Entsorgung des Test Equipments CAL 02
müssen in jedem Fall die landesüblichen und regionalen Gesetze und Richtlinien beachtet werden.
