1. INTRODUCTION
This manual contains installation, operation and maintenance instructions for the
Aviator 3000 Series scale. Please read the manual completely before installation
and operation.
1.1 Definition of Signal Warnings and Symbols
Safety notes are marked with signal words and warning symbols. These show
safety issues and warnings. Ignoring the safety notes may lead to personal injury,
damage to the instrument, malfunctions and false results.

1.2 Safety Precautions
CAUTION: Read all safety warnings before installing, making
connections, or servicing this equipment. Failure to comply with
these warnings could result in personal injury and/or property
damage. Retain all instructions for future reference.
Verify that the AC Adapter’s input voltage range and plug type match
the local AC power to be used.
Do not position the scale such that it is difficult to disconnect the
power cord from the power receptacle.
Make sure that the power cord does not pose an obstacle or tripping
hazard.
Operate the equipment only under ambient conditions specified in
these instructions.
Do not operate the equipment in hazardous or unstable
environments.
This scale is for indoor use only.
Use the scale in dry locations only.
Do not drop loads on the pan.
Use only approved accessories and peripherals.
Disconnect the equipment from the power supply when cleaning.
Service should only be performed by authorized personnel.

2. INSTALLATION
2.1 Unpacking
Unpack and verify that the following components have been included:
Scale
Weighing Platform
Power Adapter
Instruction Manual
Tower assembly (tower models only)
Save the packaging material. This packaging ensures the ideal protection
for the storage or transport of the product.
2.2 Assembling
For tower models only, install the tower display first by removing the
retaining screw at the bottom of the tower, and the bottom plate of the tower
bracket at the back of the scale. Route the connector through the tower
bracket before mounting the tower, plug the connector into the bottom
socket, affix the tower to the bracket, then re-install the bottom plate of the
tower bracket.
Install the weighing pan as illustrated below, with the pan properly aligned.
2.3 Selecting the Location
Operate the scale on a firm, level surface. Avoid locations with rapid temperature
changes, excessive air currents, vibrations, electromagnetic fields, heat or direct
sunlight.

2.4 Leveling the Scale
Adjust the leveling feet until the bubble is centered in the circle of the level
indicator (located on the front panel). Ensure that the scale is level each
time its location is changed.
2.5 Connecting Power
2.5.1 AC Power
Verify that the intended AC power source matches the AC adapter rating.
Connect the adapter to the power receptacle underneath and to the right of
the scale, then plug the AC adapter into a properly grounded power outlet.
2.5.2 Battery Maintenance
Battery type
Aviator 3000 Series provides alternative to use battery. You can see the left
sticker in the battery holder.
The default status is that the switch is covered by the sticker, and default
location of the switch is on the NiMH side, it means to only use rechargeable
NiMH batteries of size UM1.
If you would like to use D-cell, please break the box in the middle of the
sticker, and push the switch to the D-cell side, in this status, charging
function is disabled automatically.
Always make sure that all six batteries have the same capacity. Please
contact your authorized dealer for more information.
CAUTION:
Whenever you change the battery, please check the switch location
to be sure that you chose the right battery type.
Installation
Attention: Before you install the batteries, make sure that the
external power supply is disconnected.
Carefully put the scale on its side. Remove battery cover by pressing the
two buttons and pull it out. Then install the batteries as shown on the battery
holder. Reattach the battery cover when the batteries have been installed
correctly.

Operation
When the scale is running on battery power, the functionality will be the
same as when it is running on external power. Additionally, the so called
“Sleep” function can be used, please refer to section 5.2. When the scale
has activated the “Sleep” mode, simply press any key to activate the screen.
During battery operation, the battery symbol indicates the battery status.
Battery is full or fully charged.
Only about 2/3 power of the battery left
Only about 1/3 power of the battery left
The power of the battery is at a critical level. The scale
will be automatically turned off when the voltage of the
battery is lower than 6V to prevent weighing errors.
Charging (automatically)
The automatic charging will only start when the battery capacity has
dropped below approx. 5% of its capacity.
The scale allows recharging the NiMH batteries automatically and easily. To
charge new NiMH batteries, please allow between 10~15 hours, depending
on the battery type selected. To charge the batteries, simply connect the
scale to the external power supply and switch the scale on.
During the charging, the battery symbol will blink. The quantity of the blocks
inside the outline indicates how much power the battery now has. When the
blinking stops, the batteries are fully charged.
Manually Charging
The scale can also be set to charge at any time.
Make sure the scale is connected to the external power supply and switched
on. Simply press and hold the key [00] for approx. 3 seconds, until the
battery symbol’s outline starts to blink. When the symbol has stopped
blinking, the batteries are fully charged, assuming the power is not
interrupted during charging.
Note:
The total operating time of the scale on fully charged batteries depends on
the capacity (mAh) of the batteries. The capacity of the NiMH batteries will
be reduced over time and therefore also the total operating time
of the scale. This is not an error of the scale, but it is normal behavior of the
NiMH batteries.
