2. INTENDEDUSE
Themachineisdesignedandintendedtobeusedafterassemblyontoacombineharvesterforharvesting
corn/sunflowers.
Themachineismechanicallydrivenandhydraulicallyandelectricallypoweredbythecombineharvester.

Duringoperation,theworkspaceisthecabinofthecombineharvester.


Machineoperatingrange:
Environmental(Tmaxandmin,etc.):machinedesignedtooperateoutdoors.
MinimumOperatingTemperature=0°C
MaximumOperatingTemperature=45°C
Maximumhumidity=85%
MaximumStorageTemperature=70°C
MinimumStorageTemperature=‐20°C
Operationsenvisaged:machinedesignedforharvestingcorn/sunflowers.
Operator:readandunderstandtheuserandmaintenancemanual.
Powersupplies:theequipmentispoweredbyconnectingthePTOshaftstothedriveofthevehicle
onwhichitisintendedtobeinstalledbytheoperator.

MACHINEOPERATION
TheuseofthismachinerequiresconnectiontothedrivevehicleviaaPTOshaft.Theoperatorworksfromthecabinof
thevehicleonwhichthemachineismountedandfromwhichtheoperatorcan(andmust)issueallthecommands
neededfortheintendeduseofthecornhead.Nootheroperatorsareenvisagedorrequiredinpositionsothethan
thecabinmentionedabove.
Machineoperationconsistsin"taking"theplantanddraggingitdownwardsthroughapairofstalkrollersinstalledon
eachrow.
Thecobofcornisseparatedfromtheplantanddraggedtowardsthebottomofthemachinewherethescrew
conveyorcollectstheproduct.

OPERATORINTERACTIONSWITHTHEMACHINE:
Fromthecabinofthecombineharvester,theoperatorisabletoperformthefollowingtasks:
‐foldinglateralrows(dependingonmodel)
‐settingspeed(dependingoncombineharvestermodels)
‐startingandstoppingmechanicaltransmission,
‐lifting/loweringthecornhead.
Theotheroperationscarriedoutbytheoperatorare:
‐loading/unloadingequipment
‐maintenance
‐cleaning


Themachinemustneverbeused:
‐forpurposesotherthanthoseoutlinedinchapter2;
‐inpotentiallyexplosiveandaggressiveenvironments,orwhereconcentrationsofdustoroily
substancessuspendedintheairarehigh;
‐byuntrainedanduninformedpersonnel;
‐whensafetydevicesareunavailable,havebeenremovedortamperedwith;
‐withanyelectricaljumperand/orothermeansthatexcludeutilities/partsofthemachine;
‐foroperationsotherthanthosespecifiedinthismanual.



Failuretocomplywiththeinstructionsprovidedinthismanualcouldresultindamage
topropertyand/orinjury.




4. GENERALSAFETYINFORMATION
Assumingthatthe"Drago"corn‐headhasfeaturescharacterisedbyaconsiderablelevelofdanger,given
thenatureoftheharvestingsystem,theoperatorandanypersonswithintheoperationalrangeofthe
machinemustmakesureallthesafetyprecautionsdescribedinthismanual,aswellasthoseincludedin
theusermanualofthecombineharvester,arecompliedwith.

Carefullyandaccuratelyreadthismanualandthecombineharvesterusermanualbeforeoperatingthe
equipment.

-Makesurethateveryoneisfullyawareofhowthemachineoperatesbeforestartingit.
‐Beforestartingthecornhead,checkitsfunctionalityandsafetyintraffic.
‐Payattentiontothesafetyregulationsexpectedtobeimplementedbytheoperatoraswellasthe
recommendationsmadeinthismanual!
‐Thewarningsignsaffixedhighlighthazardousoperations.Observethemastheyareintendedto
ensureyoursafety.
‐Beforestartingwork,getacquaintedwiththeimplementationelementsanddevicesandhowto
usethem!Donotwaituntilyouareworking.Itwillbetoolate!
‐Thecombineharvestershouldalwayshaveenoughweightontherearaxletoallowsafeoperation.
Inparticularharvestingconditions,moreweightmaybeneededontherearaxleinordertoensure
adequatestability.
‐Payattentiontotheadmissibleaxleloadsandtotalweights!
‐Thebehaviourofthemainmachineduringtheworkactivitiesandthesteeringandbrakingsystems
areinfluencedbythemachine(accessory)fittedtoit.Makesurethereisenoughspacetoallow
steeringandbraking.
‐Theoperatormustbetheonlypersonsittingonthecombineharvesterduringoperations.Donot
allowanyonetoclimbonthecombineharvesterduringoperation.
‐Keepalltheguardsandshieldsinplaceandneverworkaroundtheheadorthecombineharvester
duringoperation.
‐Donotwearlooseclothesthatcouldgetcaughtinmovingparts.




DANGERMOVINGPARTS
Thestalkrollersandthecornheadgatheringchains,thescrewsandothermovingpartscannotbefully
protectedasthiswouldaffecttheiroperation.
Alwaysstandatasafedistancefrommovingpartsduringoperation.


AVOIDENTRAPMENT.
Toavoidentrapment:
-noactivityoroperationistobecarriedoutwhileoperatorsarestanding
neartheheadduringoperation;
-operatorsmustnotwearunsuitableclothing,suchasbeltsorloose
piecesoffabric; 
-interventionwithmakeshiftelementsduringnormaloperationorinthe
eventofanomalies,isforbidden;
-anyoperation,includingtheuncloggingofthehead,mustbecarriedout
whilethemachineisoffandnotpowered,asdescribedinthefollowing
chapters.

Failuretocomplywiththefollowinginstructionsmaybefatal,astheharvestingsystemisaggressive.

Intheeventofentrapment:
-securethemachinebyremoving/disconnectingallpowersources;
-dependingonthecase,disassembleandremovethepartsinvolvedintheentrapment,ormanually
rotatemovablepartsintheoppositedirection,makingsurethatnofurtherinjuryiscaused.


NOISEPROTECTION
Prolongedexposuretoloudnoisescancausehearinglossordamage.
Thenatureofthemachineanditsoperatingprincipleinvolveasignificantlyhighlevelofnoise.Actual
exposurewillvarydependingonthecombineharvesterandconditionsofuse.

Notwithstandingtheuser’sobligationtochecktheactualexposureoftheworkerunder
therelativeconditionsofuse,OLIMACrecommendstheuseofappropriateprotective
equipment,suchasearmuffsorearplugstoprotectagainstexposuretonoise.













