Readthismanualcarefullytolearnhowtooperatesafely.
"DRAGO"equipmentisbuiltwithafixedorfoldingframe,withvariablerowspacing.Uponrequest,our

Themachineisdesignedandintendedtobeusedafterassemblyontoacombineharvesterforharvesting
corn/sunflowers.
Themachineismechanicallydrivenandhydraulicallyandelectricallypoweredbythecombineharvester.
Duringoperation,theworkspaceisthecabinofthecombineharvester.
Machineoperatingrange:
Environmental(Tmaxandmin,etc.):machinedesignedtooperateoutdoors.
MinimumOperatingTemperature=0°C
MaximumOperatingTemperature=45°C
Maximumhumidity=85%
MaximumStorageTemperature=70°C
MinimumStorageTemperature=‐20°C
Operationsenvisaged:machinedesignedforharvestingcorn/sunflowers.
Operator:readandunderstandtheuserandmaintenancemanual.
Powersupplies:theequipmentispoweredbyconnectingthePTOshaftstothedriveofthevehicle
onwhichitisintendedtobeinstalledbytheoperator.
MACHINEOPERATION
TheuseofthismachinerequiresconnectiontothedrivevehicleviaaPTOshaft.Theoperatorworksfromthecabinof
thevehicleonwhichthemachineismountedandfromwhichtheoperatorcan(andmust)issueallthecommands
neededfortheintendeduseofthecornhead.Nootheroperatorsareenvisagedorrequiredinpositionsothethan
thecabinmentionedabove.
Machineoperationconsistsin"taking"theplantanddraggingitdownwardsthroughapairofstalkrollersinstalledon
eachrow.
Thecobofcornisseparatedfromtheplantanddraggedtowardsthebottomofthemachinewherethescrew
conveyorcollectstheproduct.
OPERATORINTERACTIONSWITHTHEMACHINE:
Fromthecabinofthecombineharvester,theoperatorisabletoperformthefollowingtasks:
‐foldinglateralrows(dependingonmodel)
‐settingspeed(dependingoncombineharvestermodels)
‐startingandstoppingmechanicaltransmission,

substancessuspendedintheairarehigh;
‐byuntrainedanduninformedpersonnel;
‐whensafetydevicesareunavailable,havebeenremovedortamperedwith;
‐withanyelectricaljumperand/orothermeansthatexcludeutilities/partsofthemachine;
‐foroperationsotherthanthosespecifiedinthismanual.

4. GENERALSAFETYINFORMATION
Assumingthatthe"Drago"corn‐headhasfeaturescharacterisedbyaconsiderablelevelofdanger,given
thenatureoftheharvestingsystem,theoperatorandanypersonswithintheoperationalrangeofthe
machinemustmakesureallthesafetyprecautionsdescribedinthismanual,aswellasthoseincludedin
theusermanualofthecombineharvester,arecompliedwith.
Carefullyandaccuratelyreadthismanualandthecombineharvesterusermanualbeforeoperatingthe
equipment.
-Makesurethateveryoneisfullyawareofhowthemachineoperatesbeforestartingit.
‐Beforestartingthecornhead,checkitsfunctionalityandsafetyintraffic.
‐Payattentiontothesafetyregulationsexpectedtobeimplementedbytheoperatoraswellasthe
recommendationsmadeinthismanual!
‐Thewarningsignsaffixedhighlighthazardousoperations.Observethemastheyareintendedto
ensureyoursafety.
‐Beforestartingwork,getacquaintedwiththeimplementationelementsanddevicesandhowto

‐Thecombineharvestershouldalwayshaveenoughweightontherearaxletoallowsafeoperation.
Inparticularharvestingconditions,moreweightmaybeneededontherearaxleinordertoensure
adequatestability.

‐Thebehaviourofthemainmachineduringtheworkactivitiesandthesteeringandbrakingsystems
areinfluencedbythemachine(accessory)fittedtoit.Makesurethereisenoughspacetoallow
steeringandbraking.
‐Theoperatormustbetheonlypersonsittingonthecombineharvesterduringoperations.Donot
allowanyonetoclimbonthecombineharvesterduringoperation.
‐Keepalltheguardsandshieldsinplaceandneverworkaroundtheheadorthecombineharvester
duringoperation.
‐Donotwearlooseclothesthatcouldgetcaughtinmovingparts.

DANGERMOVINGPARTS
Thestalkrollersandthecornheadgatheringchains,thescrewsandothermovingpartscannotbefully
protectedasthiswouldaffecttheiroperation.
Alwaysstandatasafedistancefrommovingpartsduringoperation.
AVOIDENTRAPMENT.
Toavoidentrapment:
-noactivityoroperationistobecarriedoutwhileoperatorsarestanding
neartheheadduringoperation;
-operatorsmustnotwearunsuitableclothing,suchasbeltsorloose
piecesoffabric;
-interventionwithmakeshiftelementsduringnormaloperationorinthe
eventofanomalies,isforbidden;
-anyoperation,includingtheuncloggingofthehead,mustbecarriedout
whilethemachineisoffandnotpowered,asdescribedinthefollowing
chapters.
Failuretocomplywiththefollowinginstructionsmaybefatal,astheharvestingsystemisaggressive.
Intheeventofentrapment:
-securethemachinebyremoving/disconnectingallpowersources;
-dependingonthecase,disassembleandremovethepartsinvolvedintheentrapment,ormanually
rotatemovablepartsintheoppositedirection,makingsurethatnofurtherinjuryiscaused.
NOISEPROTECTION
Prolongedexposuretoloudnoisescancausehearinglossordamage.
Thenatureofthemachineanditsoperatingprincipleinvolveasignificantlyhighlevelofnoise.Actual
exposurewillvarydependingonthecombineharvesterandconditionsofuse.
Notwithstandingtheuser’sobligationtochecktheactualexposureoftheworkerunder
therelativeconditionsofuse,OLIMACrecommendstheuseofappropriateprotective
equipment,suchasearmuffsorearplugstoprotectagainstexposuretonoise.

Flamescanbegeneratedbyoverheatingnearpipescontainingpressurizedfluid,resultinginsevereburns
totheoperatorandthosestandingby.
Donotuseweldingtorchesnearthesepipesornearotherflammablematerials.The
pressurizedpipesmaybeaccidentallycutwhenheatspreadsbeyondtheflamearea.
PROTECTYOURSELFAGAINSTHIGH‐PRESSURESPURTS
Spurtsfromhigh‐pressurenozzlescanpenetrateskinandcauseseriousinjuries.
Storethesespurtingelementsinsuchaswayastopreventcontactwithyourhandsor
body.
Intheeventofanaccident,calladoctorimmediately.

COMBINEHARVESTER
SUPPLY
TheOLIMACcornheadissuppliedwithfixedsupportsinstalledbelowtheframeforstandingitonthe
groundduringoperations,storageortransport.
Forspacereasons,aspecialstandcanbeprovidedtoallowstorageinanuprightpositionandeasyaccess
fortheadjustmentandthelubricationofthecornhead.
Eachcornheadmustbesuitedtothecombineharvesterusedandthespecificationsarementionedinthe
deliverynoteincludedwiththecornhead.
Allcombineharvesterdrivepartsanduniversaljointsarepackagedseparatelyandincludedinthedelivery.
HOISTING
Whenperformingthemanoeuvresdescribedbelow,MAKESURETHAT:
‐anyoperationcarriedoutwithequipmentsuchashoists,cranes,slings,etc.,isperformedbyqualified
personnelTRAINEDtousesuchdevices;
‐noonestandsorwalksunderorclosetosuspendedloads;
‐thehoistingequipmentusedhasacapacity25%greaterthantheweightofthemachine,asspecified
onthemetalplateontheupperrightsideoftheframe;
‐staffappointedtocarryoutmanoeuvresuseappropriatePPE;
‐theanchorageiscarriedoutusingthesupportsprovidedforsuchpurpose.

TRANSPORT
Duringtransportoperationsusingtrucks,thecornheadmustrestonitssupportsoronasuitabletransport
racktokeepitvertical.
Theusermustguaranteethestabilityoftheequipmentduringallphases.Forthispurpose,itismandatory
tosecurethemachinewitharopepassingthroughtheholesinthedrawbar.
LoadingandUnloading.
Thecornheadmustbeharnessedintheappropriatecouplingpointsasshowninthesparepartscatalogue.
Tobalancetheload,securetworopesontopoftheexternalframe.

Caution:

-beforelifting,checktheconditionoftheropesandtheconnectionsfastenedtothemachine.
Movingacornheadattachedtothefrontofthecombineharvester:
‐makesurethatthesafetysignsandlightsmountedonthecornheadandonthecombine
harvesterareefficientandthatthereflectingmaterialsarecleanandvisible.Replaceorrepairany
damagedorwornparts;
‐whenevernotprovidedforbythehighwaycode,duringthemovementofthecombineharvester
equippedwithacornhead,makesurethatanaccompanyingvehicledrives300maheadofthe
vehicletosignalthepresenceofthe"oversizeload";
‐thedrivingspeedmustbeappropriatetothetrafficand/orpotentialhazards,alwaysincompliance
withallroadtrafficregulations;
‐avoidanybehaviourthatmightbeanobstacleordangertoothervehicles,avoidingthecreationof
longtailbacksbehindthevehicle;
‐noonemustparkorstandclosetothemovingvehicleorwhentheengineisstartedduringthe
cornheadtestingphase;
‐keepchildrenandunauthorizedpersonsoutoftherangeofthemachines;

MOUNTINGTHECORNHEADONACOMBINEHARVESTER
IMPORTANT:beforemountingthecornheadonthecombineharvester,checktheefficiencyofallthe
movingpartsandthehoistingequipment,particularlythetyreload,thebrakesystem,thehydraulic
hoistingsystemandtheloadbalancetoensuretheefficiencyofthesteeringsystemmountedontherear
axle.(20%ofthetotalmassmustbeshiftedtowardstherearaxle).
Couplethecornheadtothecombineharvesteronaflatsurfacetoverifythecorrecttiltangle.
Carefullycleantheadapterandtheconnectiononthecouplingpointsinordertosecurecoupling.
IMPORTANT:thepipelockpin1mustbefullyinsertedinthepocketbelowtheupperbarofthecornhead.
Thecouplingiscarriedoutinthesamewayasforawheatreaper.
COUPLING
Beforemountingthecornheadonthecombineharvester,checktheefficiencyofallthemovingpartsand
thehoistingequipment.
Thecouplingoperationsmustbecarriedoutinopen,flatareasfreefromobstacles.
Lock 1
DANGER:
allassemblyoperationsandpowerconnectionsmustbecarriedoutstrictlyafterthefollowingsafety
measuresareperformed:
‐alwaysturnofftheengine,
‐engagethehandbrake,
‐removetheignitionkeyandconnectthepipesafetylockinpositionontheliftcylinder,
‐hanga"DONOTUSE"signintheoperator'scabinonthecombineharvester.
Failuretoengagethesafetylockmayresultininjuriesordeath.
Alloperationsaretobeperformedwhenthemachineisdisconnectedfromanysourceofpowerand
whenallthemovingpartsareidle.
UsesuitablePPEforeachoftheoperations.

Aftermakingsurethattheareaisclearfrompeople:
‐startthecombineharvesterandcautiouslymovethefeedingpipetowardsthecornheadcoupling
point;
‐lowerthepipesothatitisafewcentimetresbelowtheheadsupportbar;
‐positionthecombineharvestersothatthepipeiscentredoverthecornheadopeningandmove
thepipeforwarduntilitcouplescompletelywiththecornhead;
‐slowlyraisethepipeuntilthecorn‐headiscompletelyofftheground(afewcentimetres).
Ifthecouplingisnotcorrect,lowerthepipebacktothegroundandliftitagain.Thisshouldcorrectany
misalignment.Beforeliftingthecornheadcompletely,makesurethattheadapterisproperlyattachedto
thehead.
Securethelowerhookstothecouplingpointonlyaftermakingsurethattheliftingoperationscanbe
performedsafely.Thenconnecttheuniversaljointsandthehydraulicandelectricalparts.
DANGERMOVINGPARTSANDCRUSHING
Duringinstallation,noonemustbeallowedtostandbetweenthecornheadandthecombine
harvester.
Theincorrectcouplingofthechanneltothecornheadcanresultinthedetachmentofthecorn
headandcauseittofall.Failuretocomplywiththeabovecanresultindeathorseriousinjury.
CAUTION:verifythecorrecttiltangleofthecornheadinrelationtotheground.Failuretocomplywith
thisinstructioncanresultinincreasedpowerconsumptionofthecornheadorthebreakageofastalk
chopper.Whenthefrontplatesoftheassemblytouchthegroundtherearsupportshouldberaisedby
70/90mm.
Ifthetiltangleisnotcorrect,uncoupletheheadandadjustthecoupling.
Ifthelevelislowerthan70mm,increasethedistancebetweenthetopcouplingpinandupperbeamofthe
frame;viceversa,ifthelevelishigherthan90mm,setthecouplingpointcloser.
Ifthetiltangleiscorrect,liftthedevicecompletely,makingsurethattheheaddoesnotknockagainstthe
cabinofthecombineharvester(thisappliestofoldingcornheads).

Alwaysturnofftheengine,engagethehandbrake,removetheignitionkeyandsetthepipe
safetylockinpositionontheelevatorcylinderbeforeworkingunderthecorn‐headorthefeeder.Failure
toengagethesafetylockmayresultininjuriesordeath.
Securethelowerpinsbetweenthecornheadandtheadaptersothatthemachineisfullylocked
intotheadapter.Failuretocomplywiththisinstructioncanresultinthedetachmentofthecornhead
andcauseittofall.
HYDRAULICCONNECTION(forfoldingheadsonly):
Thetwohydraulicpipesfortheforwardandbackwardadjustmentofthewheat‐barreel,mountedonthe
foldingcornhead,allowthefoldingofthelateralrows.
Beforefoldingthelateralrowsforroadtransport,cleantheupperbeamofthecornheadtoallowcorrect
coupling.
IMPORTANTPressthehydrauliccommandasthecornheadopensup,beforestartingworkinthefield,to
allowthetotallateralcompressionofthepistons.
Failuretodothiscancauseamisalignmentofthesupportofthescrewconveyor.
Thefoldingcornheadsmustbestoppedbeforebeingfolded.
RISKOFCRUSHING:thefoldingofthelateralrowsmustbeoperatedfromthecabinofthe
combineharvesteronly,onlyafterensuringthatnooneisstandingwithinthedangerzone.
ELECTRICWIRING
Connectthewiringofsignallightstotheelectricalconnectorofthecombineharvester.
Ifthecornheadisequippedwithanautomaticworklevelcontrol,coupletheconnectorintotheconnector
ofthecombineharvester.IfthecornheadisequippedwiththeoptionalFieldDragfeature,couplethe
connectortotheconnectorofthecombineharvester.

ELECTROCUTIONRISK:regularlychecktheconformityand
integrityoftheelectricalinsulation.
UNIVERSALJOINT
SecurethePTOshaftfirsttothecornheadandthentotheliftpipeshaft,makingsurethatthepinofthe
universaljointcoupleswiththeshaftgroove.
DANGERMOVINGPARTS:themechanicaltransmissionmustnotbepoweredintheabsenceof
suitableprotections.
Regularlychecktheintegrityandconformityofthedriveshaftsandtheirguards.
