This machine is towed by the tractor by the tractor by means of its drawbar eye and works on the soil by virtue of its own weight and the
power drive.
The machine consists of a structure in which the working part is made up of a horizontal axe rotor with shaped tools turning faster than
the proceeding speed. The material is thrown into the chopping room of the machine and is discharged on the back.
The machine is provided with a height adjustment system obtained through side skids, or wheels or the rear-roller. The latter has also
the function of creating a uniform layer of chopped material on the soil. The drive shaft is fitted with an unilateral clutch mechanism (free
wheel) which allows the transmission of the movement in only one direction of rotation, releasing the power drive of the tractor in a
period of relaxation. The tools known as blades are normally Y blades but alternatively hoes, shovel blades or others can be used.

afety advice stickers
Warning!
Ensure that all security messages are legible. Clean them using soap and a cloth. Do not use solvents, diesel oil or petrol.
Replace damaged stickers by asking for them from the OMARV S.R.L. If a stickers happens to be on a part that is to be
replaced, make sure that another one is applied onto the replacement.
Read carefully the manual of use and
maintenance before starting the
machine. Observe safety rules and
security instructions during
functioning.
Maximum rotation speed of P.T.O.
shaft: 540 rpm.
Stop the motor and remove the
ignition key before carrying out any
maintenance operations or repairs.
Always wear safety ear protection.
Do not approach any parts of your
body to the rotating parts when the
machine is in operation or the motor
is running.
Keep at the safe distance from the
vehicle or tools.
Do not remain in the vicinity of
swaying parts of the machine or the
tractor.
Do not open or remove the safety
guards when the machine is in
operation or the motor is running.
Keep hands away when
the rotor is rotating.
Do not approach the danger zone
while the motor is running.

ROERO - TST
________________________________________________________________________________
11
Personal protective equipment (PPE)
The conductor, maintainers and operators that carry out activities on the machine, they must use the personal protective equipment to
allow them to cancel all the possible risks arising from the various activities according to the provisions of the factory installation.
Warning!
The clothing of those who work or perform maintenance on the machine must meet the essential safety requirements
set by EU Directives 98/37 EC and applicable laws in the country where the machine is installed.
Look Out!
During the operations of management and maintenance, personnel should wear appropriate clothing to prevent the
occurrence of accidents. In order to avoid mechanical hazards such as entrapment or entrainment, it is forbidden to
wear special as bracelets, watches, rings or chains during the cycle
Machine hitching
The brush schedder, mod. ROERO can be hitched to any tractor with a universal three-point hitch. As the hoist bars of each tractor are
different in lenght and distance, you shall decide which position is best for your brush shredder.
Hitching instructions:+
1. Place the brush shredder in a stable position by acting on the rest foot in a sufficiently horizontal place.
2. To withdraw with the tractor until arriving with the hoist bars near of the lower attacks (see 1-1a /11)
3. Position the heads of the hoist bars in the connections, insert the bolts (see 2-2a/11) and lock them with the spring split pins.
4. Lock the hoist bars with chains and parallel tightness. You have to do this in order to avoid any horizontal displacements of
the machine.
5. Fix the upper connection of the brush shredder to the third point of the tractor hitch (see 3/ 12), by inserting bolt in the head 19
mm and locking it with the spring split pin.
6. Lift the rest foot, lock it with the bolt and insert the R split pin.
ROERO - TST
________________________________________________________________________________
12
7. Adjust the third point of the tractor hitch making sure the axis of the PTO shaft of the brush shredder is as parallel to the
ground as possible. The parallel position of the brush shredder axis as to the PTO of the tractor is important in order to limit
stresses on the power take-offs and extend the life of the PTO shaft.
8. Clutch in the PTO shaft and make sure it is perfectly locked on the power take-off
9. Always fix the locking devices that have been mounted to prevent the rotation of the transmission guards (small chains
located on the PTO shaft), both to the operating machine and the tractor.
10. Adjust the hoisting unit of the tractor in order to the brush shredder to be no more than 40 cm from ground.
Fitting the drive shaft
Check that the PTO shaft does not make contact with the guards at the shortest point (in general horizontal PTO
shaft parallel to the PTO exit – Fig. 4-)
If it does, reduce the tubes by the same length (cut, clean, grease)-Fig.5 form A to D-
It is essential that a general check be made in the event of modification of the length of the third point or in the
event of tractor substitution
Warning!
These operations must be undertaken slowly and with the greatest of care in compliance with the safety
regulations laid down in this manual.

ROERO - TST
________________________________________________________________________________
13
Operation
Arrived in the area where you want to give up, lower the machine. The machine must be perfectly horizontal to the ground, lying on the
rear roller.
Warning!
The knives must not be in contact with the ground.
Never lower the machine less than 3 cm from the ground.
The quality of the work and the power required depend on:
The type of product to be shredded and its humidity
The type of blades used
The height of the work
The advancing speed of the tractor
ROERO - TST
________________________________________________________________________________
14
Choice of blades
The ROERO mower and gathering basket are equipe with shovel blades that offer the best cutting quality and ventilation. These shovel
blades are ideal for uncultivated terrain, grass, beet or carrot leaves. As an option “Y” shaped blades are provided for maize, straw and
rape.
Beware!
Use only original OMARV blades.
Warning!
Before starting any job you should warm up the tractor engine and the hydraulic oil for a few minutes in orer to guarantee a
quick response from the hydraulic parts..
Warning!
During shredding work make sure that there are no people or animals inside the radius of the action of the machine.

ROERO - TST

5. MAINTENANCE SECTION
General rules
It’s imperative to execute every maintenance operation with the machine completely still, even when undoing any elements f the
hydraulic circuit.
Warning!
Before any intervention is made, the maintenance person must take the key out of the ignition, after having censure that
the motor is stopped, and disconnect the drive shaft coupling from the power drive of the tractor. Only in this way can it be
certain that the machine cannot set off unexpectedly while the maintenance person finds him/herself in position of risk.
During maintenance or replacement of hydraulic components, particular attention should be paid to avoiding the
introduction of any foreign object, however small into the circuit which may cause malfunction and compromise the safety
of the machine.
Excepting particular demands maintenance must always be carried out with the tools of the machine in resting position and after the
pressure of the oleodynamic accumulators/hydraulics has been released.
Warning!
Avoid executing any operation with bare hands.
Warning!
In the case of any maintenance operation that may need to be done whil one or more functions of the machine is active,
precise and unbreakable imperatives must be adhered to in that:
There should always be at least two persons present: the operator who has the function of supervising the security
of the person working and the maintenance engineer.
The operator who is at the commands of the machine and the maintenance engineering should be able to see each
other at all times in order that communication between them will be easy and unequivocal.
The operator acts in accordance to orders given him by the maintenance enginer.
Before changing from a still acivity to a moving activity the maintenance engineer should remain in a position of
safety and only draw closet o the moving parts after havingsecured assurance that his/her rodersi have been
received exactly by the operator.
The maintenance should always be done in adeguate light.
The maintenance engineer should be informed of the exact function and movement of every part of the machine.
Periodic checks
Check all parts of the machine daily, in particular check the state of wear of the blades.
Warning!
Broken or excessively worn blades must be replaced.
Warning!
The lack of one or more blades can cause a rapid deterioration of the rotor and cause vibrations Any discrepancy must
be rectified immediately otherwise the safety conditions of the operator and the machine may be placed in jeopardy.
In order to have a perfect balance of the rotor, also replace the diametrically opposite blade
Regulation of the haulm shredder height
The machine must operate in horizontal, positioned on the roller or on the
rear wheels and supported by the three point attachment of the tractor
The eventual slides must be regulated at a few cm from the ground
Do not raise the machine more than 30cm from the ground in order to avoid
dangerous bumps (progressive ondulating movement of the PTO shaft –
Fig.6-)
Warning!
These operations must be undertaken slowly with the greatest care
in compliance with the safety regulations laid down in this manual.
ROERO - TST
________________________________________________________________________________
16
Working height
This is determined by the height of the roller or the rear wheels and by the lower hoist arms of the tractor.
The haulm shredder must remain horizontal.
The cutters must not be in contact with the ground. It is advisable not to go down lower that 3cm from the ground. When the optimum
field cutting height is established, regulate the height of the slides, if they are included, to 1cm lower than the cutters in order to avoid
that they come into contact with the ground.
Warning!
These operations must be undertaken slowly with the greatest care in compliance with the safety regulations laid down in
this manual.
Fig.7: position of the cutters, the slides and the wheels in relation to the ground
H: minimum cutting height 3cm
h: minimum slide height 1cm
Cutting height adjustment
For a precise operation and excellent performance, we recommend you to dedicate the necessary time to adapt the machine to the
work you wish to reach.
If you adjust the working height you will save fuel and power and keep tool wear with reasonable limits. The correct use of the brush
shredder mod. ROERO consists in cutting grass, maintaining lawns, shredding vine pruning bits, thin branches and leaves. Therefore
the tools shall not work in touch with the ground, but hosted by it at the required height (fig. 14)
The cutting height can be adjusted by the roller thet can be adjusted in 3 positions. If you lift the roller the cutting height will be reduced,
if you lower the roller the cutting height will be higher (fig. 15)
The roller is equipped with a scraper, whose function consists in preventing excessive deposits of earth and clods from breaking the
sliding movement of the machine and from making it heavier.

Roller adjustment instruction:
1. Remove both side guard or skids applied to both side panels of the frame
2. Loosen the nut slightly by using a 24 wrench. This is nut that thightens the screw M16 supporting the roller fixing plate
3. Loosen the other nut completely and the take screw M16 out of the adjusting hole in the side panel.
4. Proceed with these operations also for the opposite side panel of the machine.
5. Adjust the roller height and one you have found the required position insert the screws M16 that you had removed and tignten
the nuts.
6. Once the adjustments are completed, fix the side guards or skids that you have removed before.
Regulation of the roller wheels
Roller Fig.8
For best roller regulation it is necessary to:
Lift the machine
Unscrew the S bolt
Position at the chosen hole
Re-screw the S bolt
Wheels
The wheels are mounted on the rear tubular section of the haulm shredder
They rotate
They are adjustable in height: raise the machine, unscrew the bolt S and refix to the pre-chosen fixture hole (check that the 2
wheels are at the same height –fig.8-)
Warning!
These operations must be undertaken slowly with the greatest care in compliance with the safety regulations
laid down in this manual.
Choice of cutters (optional)
Hammer blades
Standard equipment of the haulm shredder
Cutters recommended when a total clean cut is required, ideal
for uncultivated terrain, grass, potatoes, beet or carrot leaves.
The counter-cutter is smooth
Universal cutters
Recommended cutters for corn, hay, rape

Rotor checks
It is necessary to check the presence and efficiency of all the cutters on the rotor each day (used or broken cutters must be replaced at
the same time as those diametrically opposite on the rotor).
Warning!
The absence of a cutter may cause the rapid deterioration of the rotor and cause vibrations. A cutter of 860g at a speed of
500 rpm exerts a force of 500 Kg on the rotor!
Warning!
These operations must be undertaken slowly and with the greatest care in compliance with the safety regulations laid
down in this manual.
Rear cowling position
Closed cowling (standard) permits:
A partial recycling of the shredded material and therefore improved working quality
In this case the power required is slightly greater
Open cowling with flaps (option) permits:
Good distribution of the shredded product on the ground
A reduced power requirement
Shredding quality/required power
In all cases, the work quality and the power required depend on:
The type of product to be cut and its humidity
The type of cutter used
Whether the product is to be recycled or not (open or closed cowling)
The working height
The tractor advance speed
Warning!
In the event that the front PTO of the tractor rotates in the direction indicated in Figure13, it is necessary to invert the
direction of rotor rotation, by overturning the over gear unit, not forgetting to invert the breather cap with the discharge cap.
In this case the PTO shaft to be used must have the free wheel on the right.
In the eve that the front PTO of the tractor rotates in the direction indicated in Fugure14, no intervention is required on the
drive unit. In this case the PTO shaft must have the free wheel on the left.

Automatic turnbuckle
to be greased every 8 working hours
Roller bearing
this bearings are to be greased every 8 working hours
PTO shaft joint
Grease the following evertu 8 working hours:
the cross journal A
the tubes B
the sliding spacer elements C
oil the masks D every 120 working hours
Automatic belt turnbuckle
If necessary the spring tension must be insreased by means of lever A (Fig.19)
Check the spring tension:
after the first ½ hour of work
after the first 8 working hours
every 20 working hours
Cutters
Check daily that thereare no broken cutters.
If there are, replace it with the one diametrically opposite, in order to maintain a correct tractor balance.
Do not wait until the cutters are excessively worn before replacing, as it causes:
morepower to be used
vibrations thatare detrimental to the rotating parts of the shredder
