REBOUNDERTM MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
Case IH 1200 Series Planter

Before working on yo r planter or drill
DANGER: w en storing or working on t e planter always install cylinder stops or place t e planter on stands to prevent personal injury or damage to t e
Rebounder. WARNING:do not roll back or back up t e planter in or on t e ground as t is can result in damage to t e Rebounder.
Mo nting Instr ctions
Before yo begin locate the “package contents” list to verify all items are incl ded.
T ere are 2 options for in furrow application of fertilizer, c emical, or inoculants, see: liq id fertil-
izer attachment mo nting instr ctions for t is planter or drill series. Option #1 is a plastic
tube wit t e Hose Holder Kit, t at goes inside t e seed boot of t e planter. Option #2, is a stain-
less steel tube wit t e Hose Holder Kit, t at goes on t e outside of t e planter.
Step #1: remove t e trailing disc from t e IH double disc openers. T is will allow access to t e
1/4” roll pin inside t e seed boot w ic olds t e seed tube in place. On t e new
style seed boots t e roll pin oles will be approximately 1/4” down from t e top edge
(fig. ( )). NOTE: if you previously welded a mounting plate bracket onto t e seed
boot, t at plate will need to be cut off, t is is only necessary for first year IH 1200
planters.
Step #2: using a 1/4” roll pin punc and ammer, remove t e roll pin from t e
seed boot.
Step #3: insert t e welded-in bolt on t e bracket into t e top ole on t e
Rebounder (fig. (b)). Attac w iz nut and tig ten wit a wrenc .
Step #4: slide t e Rebounder and bracket up from t e bottom of t e boot, lining
up t e tube, welded to t e back of t e bracket, wit t e ole in t e seed
boot.
Step #5: replace t e roll pin (fig. (d)) t roug t e welded-on tube to old t e
Rebounder in place. Replace t e trailing disc and gauge w eel.
Step #6: w en finis ed mounting t e Rebounders verify t at t ey are all t e same
eig t. If not, remove t e bolt olding t e covering disc arm (fig. (c))
and grind t e casting w ere t e bolt of t e Rebounder its. Or if neces-
sary, grind down t e nut of t e Rebounder. NOTE: Some covering disc
castings may not be consistent in diameter on t e outside of t e bearing casting
(fig. (e)).

PLANTERS.
Import nt Points to Remember:
- If you find t e insecticide tube its t e top of t e Rebounder
w en t e planter is raised, you will need to cut or grind off 1/2”
- 3/4”of t e front of t e insecticide tube.

VIGOROUSLY FIELD TESTED
As the double discs on pl nter open seed V in wetter, he vier
soils, they tend to “or nge peel” the side w ll. Seeds c n lodge on
the side w ll nd not get ll of the w y to the bottom of the seed V.
If you dig in the seed trench where the Rebounder h s p ssed, you
will find ll of the seeds t the bottom of the seed V. The h lf
moon notch in the end of the Rebounder keeps the Rebounder 1/4
- 1/2” off the bottom of the seed V elimin ting ny seed dr g.
When mounted to the seed tube, the Rebounder puts less th n one
pound of pressure on the seed tube when pl nting, keeping it from
vibr ting nd helping to elimin te seed bounce. This sm ll mount
of pressure in the seed furrow row lso elimin tes mud from build-
ing up when pl nting in he vy, wet textured soils.

DOES THE REBOUNDER PULL SOIL IN WITH THE SEED?
The only time the Rebounder puts soil with the seed is in he vier wetter soils
when the double discs th t open the seed V or nge peel the sidew ll of the seed
V. This is where the Rebounder shines over other tt chments bec use it is
sh ped like the seed V it will peel the lodged seeds off the or nge peeled side
w ll funneling them to the bottom.
DOES THE REBOUNDER PULL LOOSE DRY SOIL OFF THE SOIL SUR-
FACE AND PLACE WITH THE SEED?
NO! -The Rebounder is sh ped like the
seed V - it runs in the seed trench. The Rebounder enters the seed V directly
behind the double disc openers nd he d of the g uge wheels th t run long
side the seed V. This lets the Rebounder put ll the seeds in the bottom of the
seed V before the g uge wheels c ve ny dry soil in over the seed. The
Rebounder ssures you better germin tion being in the bottom of the V with
moisture on 3 sides of the seed nd dry soil on top.
DOES THE REBOUNDER LEAVE SEEDS STRANDED ON THE SIDE
WALL OF THE SEED V OR PRESS THEM IN THE SIDE WALL WHEN
THEY LODGE ALONG THE SIDE?
NO! -The p tented conc ve sh pe of the Rebounder elimin tes seeds from
being str nded on the side w ll. The Rebounder puts the seeds in the center of
the bottom of the furrow. Other tt chments with fl t or rounded surf ces
sometimes c n le ve seeds lodged in the sidew ll. As one f rmer put it when
using other tt chments “it’s like st cking two b ll be rings or two m rbles nd
try pressing them into the soil—you never know where they will end up.”
HOW DOES THE WHITE REBOUNDER COMPARE TO THE ORANGE
SUPER TUFF REBOUNDER IN WEARABILITY?
A good rule of thumb is t ke the length of the b r of your pl nter or drill nd
dd two zeros to it, th t's norm lly the life of the White Rebounder. The
Or nge Super Tuff Rebounder is tot lly different molding process where the
molecules in the Rebounder st nd up m king the we r bility superior to the
White Rebounder where the molecules l y down. The Or nge Rebounder will
double to triple the life of the White Rebounder. M ny f rmers pl nting or

WILL THE REBOUNDER DRAG SEEDS IN THE SEED FURROW?
NO! -As the double discs or True V openers of the pl nter m ke the seed V open-
ing the Rebounders tr iling end runs bout 3/8” off the bottom of the seed V. The
Rebounder w s designed to be wider th n the bottom of seed V thus letting it flex
up off the bottom bout 3/8”. The h lf moon notch in the end of the Rebounder
centers the seeds in the bottom letting them p ss through without being drug
long.
DOES MUD BUILD UP ON THE REBOUNDER WHEN SOIL CONDITIONS ARE
STICKY?
NO! -The Rebounder does not put pressure in the bottom of the seed V where
mud build up c n occur in he vier wetter soils. We tell f rmers th t if they feel
comfort ble pl nting nd it is wet th t they don't h ve to worry bout the
Rebounder building up with mud nd dr gging seeds. P rt of the no mud build
up is due to the flexibility built into the Rebounder bove the spoon re . This will
be discussed in the next question.
DOES THE REBOUNDER NEED TO BE ADJUSTED FOR PROPER TENSION
IN THE SEED V?
NO! -The Rebounder w s designed out of pl stics th t h ve n utom tic flexibil-
ity built into it to compens te for the different soil types nd conditions one might
be pl nting in. This designed flexibility w s built in bove the spoon re nd
below the tie or bolted re of the Rebounder. This Rebounders simple design
elimin tes the need for built in tension djustment th t m ke it confusing in dif-
ferent soil types nd soil conditions to djust.
WHY DOES THE REBOUNDER MOUNT TO THE SEED TUBE?
The Rebounder h s been mounted to the seedtube ever since it w s invented over
10 ye rs go. The Rebounder puts very little pressure on the seed tube preventing
d m ge to the seed tube. The Rebounders sh pe centers the seed tube in the seed
trench behind the double disc openers, keeping the seed tube from rubbing nd
we ring on the discs. The Rebounder lso ste dies the seed tube keeping it from
vibr ting in its holder, thus keeping seeds from bouncing in the seed tube.

WHY IS THERE MORE WEAR ON ONE SIDE OF THE REBOUNDER?
Check for bent pl nter unit. Also, ll right or left le d discs will m ke the pl nter
tr il off to one side c using it not to pull str ight. This c n le d to excessive we r
on pl nter p rts nd tt chments.

on/off screw design - no more need for ties!
LIQUID FERTILIZER ATTACHMENTS
E ch Rebounder h s the option of llowing liquid fertilizer or chem-
ic l pplic tion. This c n be ccomplished directly in the furrow
with the Hose Holder kit or off to e ch side with our Y-Not Split-It
