Space-Conscious Audio Solution with USB and iPod Playback

The CS-545UK offers a carefully considered balance of performance, price, and practicality. Thanks to its compact size, this versatile

audio mini system can be set up virtually anywhere in the home. Driving the system is a combined CD-receiver which handles the most

popular CD formats and which includes a DAB tuner to let you access a wide range of digital radio stations. The playback options don’t

stop there. A handy front-panel USB port accepts flash memory sticks, while a built-in iPhone/iPod dock lets you hook up and recharge

your device. Naturally, given nkyo’s enviable track record in home audio, the processing and amplification circuitry are second to

none. Completing the system are two precision-crafted bookshelf speakers featuring nkyo’s proprietary MF diaphragms.

In addition to handling CDs and USB flash drives, the CS-545UK

features a top-loading dock for iPhone/iPod. This direct digital

connection allows you to access videos, podcasts, and music in AAC

and MP3 formats. As the audio and video signals are transported in

digital form, rather than analog, there is much less possi ility of signal

degradation. Tracks on your iPhone/iPod can e rowsed, skipped, and

shuffled using the accompanying remote control.

Now you can use your flash drive as a music source for the whole

room. Using the CS-545UK’s front-panel USB port, you can access MP3

and WMA files from USB flash drives that support the USB Mass

Storage Class standard. Once your device is connected, you can use the

CS-545UK’s remote control to play ack your music.

Signals

The CS-545UK employs digital amplifier circuitry to extract a noise-free

signal from digital audio sources. Whether it’s on a standard CD or in a

compressed MP3 or WMA file stored on CD or USB, your music will

sound clearer than ever. Because digital amplifiers can convert power

with very high levels of efficiency, much less energy is wasted as heat.

With no need for a ulky heat sink, the amplifier design can e smaller

and lighter. That’s a key reason why the CS-545UK can provide room-

filling power from such a small design.

Features

The CS-545UK includes a pair of two-way, ass-reflex speakers that

incorporate a num er of Onkyo speaker technologies. The woofer

diaphragms are made from OMF (Onkyo Micro Fi er)—a dura le

material comprising molded layers of aramid and cotton. This material

effectively a sor s unwanted vi rations while providing the stiffness

needed to ensure a fast and accurate response. On the edge of the

diaphragms, V-Line Edge also works to minimize unwanted vi ration.

Furthermore, each speaker features a soft-dome tweeter to deliver

high-frequency sounds with greater finesse.
