The Power of MPPT
At the heart of OPTI-Solar's 12W Green Energy Kit is MPPT – Maximum Power Point Tracking – a
key technology that lets users harvest the maximum amount of energy from a solar panel. As sunlight
intensity varies depending on the climate, time of the day, and seasonal changes, the output voltage
and output current of the solar panel under the sun also changes.
As illustrated below, solar MPPT can track the maximum power combination of 17.5V and 3.05A
(53.4W).
Charge controller without MPPT can only obtain power combination of 12V and 3.2A (38.4W).
It usually requires a sophisticated digital signal processor (DSP) to identify the maximum power point,
which makes many solar panel systems inefficient, slow, expensive and bulky. In contrast,
OPTI-Solar's advanced analog MPPT algorithm locks in the maximum power point in less than 1000th
of a second, meaning that the solar charger can spend 99.99% of the time charging the battery while
harvesting the maximum power possible from the solar panel.

3.23.2 MPPT increases solar output power
by 30% or more
(over non-MPPT solar converter).
Formula calculation shown below:
(Voltage x Ampere = Watt (Power)
With MPPT: 17.5V x 3.05A = 53.4W
Without MPPT: 12V x 3.2A = 38.4W
38.4(W) ÷ 53.4(W) = 71.91% (ca. 30% reduced)
* More charged power means longer usage
time for electronic components !
MPPT Quick-charging Controller can charge
battery fully in less time.
The Power Bank
Our solar kit uses an exclusive "power bank" to store power from any source, including solar, USB
and AC wall outlets. That means that you can recharge your mobile devices any time – day or night.
And our 20W power bank comes with built in MPPT charging circuit to shorten the recharge time no
matter when you need a boost.

(A) About Green Energy Kit
Most of similar products sold on the market now have compatible problem, which is small solar panel with big Lithium
battery.
For example: 4W solar panel using 5,400 mAh battery (20Watt - Hour), most of the producer said the battery will be fully
charged within 5 hours but in the real world it is almost impossible.
The reasons are as below:
1. The 4W solar panel only can get the 4W power at designated environment (in Lab). Under the best sun condition in
summer time, only can get 90-95% power which is 3.6W-3.8W
2. The solar power can not be 100% charged into battery, it is related to charging efficiency.
(a) If 4W solar panel direct charging to battery without solar charger, the whole day charging efficiency only 50-60%
which means only get 2W-2.6W power.
(b) If 4W solar panel charging through solar charger then you can get 65-80% power.
(c) If 4W solar panel using our MPPT solar charger then you can get more than 85% power.
3. There is a big difference when solar panel catches energy between summer & winter time as well as latitude
differences.
For example, in North latitude 35, due to winter time the sun shine is short and the shining angle is different than summer,
so the power you can get only 50-60% compare with summer time.
Base on above information, if you located in North latitude 35 in winter time using 4W solar panel to charge 5,400 mAh
battery (20Watt - Hour) without solar charger it will takes almost 2 days.
If you using our 12W solar panel to charge 5,400 mAh battery (20Watt - Hour), you will get best charging
efficiency and most suitable for customer’s needs. Normally only takes about 3-4 hours under full-sun condition.
(B) About Lithium battery
1. Lithium polymer battery is used on the cell phone, laptop, Tablet, which is different from electric car used LifePO4
battery.
2. Most of the battery capacity only marked “mAh” (1,000 mA= 1A) For example: Tablet battery capacity is 5,400 mAh=
5.4A
3. 7V x 5.4A= 20Watt - Hour, this is the electric power you have in the battery. 3.7V is rated voltage and 4.2V is fully
charged voltage.
3. Before using electronic device, please check the consumed power rate on the device. If small electric fan consumed
power rate was 5W, our 20W battery can use for 4 hours.
4. Most of the lithium battery output voltage is 5V, but some of them also have 12V output suitable for 12V electronic
device. Most of the small electronic device was 5V or 12V. If you want to use on the 110V/220V electronic device, then
you need to use inverter to raise the voltage. During the voltage transform, the power will lose about 20%, so it will
shorten the time for using on the electronic device.
5. Using our 20W Lithium battery with built in MPPT circuit & control IC, it can reach maximum charging efficiency and
shorten the charging time while solar charging.
6. Our 20W Lithium battery with built in control IC has 4 stages smart charging function
1. Pre-charge mode -when charging, red light blinking.
2. Constant current mode-when charging, red light on.
3. Constant voltage mode-when charging, red light on.
4. Floating mode- Battery fully charged, green light blinking With 4 stages smart charging mode it can increase
charging efficiency, fully charged battery, in less time and battery lifespan can be much longer.
