01 INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on purchasing the Orbea RS Range Extender external battery!
The RS Range Extender gives your Rise Carbon an extra 252 Wh power to keep
you exploring longer. Together, with the Orbea RS 360 Wh internal battery, the total
system capacity increases by 70% to 612 Wh.
The RS bottle cage is compatible standard-sized with water bottles when the Range
Extender is not installed. The RS Range Extender is the only external battery that can
be replaced with a bottle in seconds.
This technical manual contains important information about the RS Range Extender
and its use in conjunction with the Rise Carbon. Please read it carefully.

LEGAL WARRANTY
The RS Range Extender battery is covered by a legal war-
ranty of 2 years from the time of original purchase or from
the period specied as a legal warranty in the country of
purchase.
This warranty covers all Orbea products against manu-
facturing defects and/or compliance and guarantees the
repair or replacement of the defective product at no addi-
tional cost to the affected customer.
This warranty does not cover, in any case, damages
caused from improper use, falls, or accidents; incorrect in-
stallation; or lack of maintenance or non-observance of the
instructions for use, storage, charging, etc. as described
in this manual.
The loss of battery capacity due to the RS battery’s natural
aging, usage, charging, and storage is not covered within
the warranty conditions.

The RS Range Extender battery is not included in the Or-
bea Lifetime Warranty policy that applies to rigid frames
and forks.
WARRANTY CLAIMS PROCESS
All warranty claims must be processed through an author-
ized Orbea dealer, who will carry out the initial diagnosis
and send Orbea all the necessary documentation to fa-
cilitate the claim in question. The dealer will inform the
customer of the warranty status and warranty decision
made by Orbea.
Before using your electric bike, it is essential to perform
all the safety checks to ensure the working condition of its
components. You can nd the necessary checklist for the
bike’s mechanical elements in the Rise Carbon Blue Paper
technical manual.
Electrical system checks: Start the bike and check that
the electrical system is working properly. Check that there
is electric assistance and that all components work (motor,
display, assistance change, and speed sensor).
If there is no electrical assistance, check the condition of
all components, cables and connection points between the
components. Cables or components that show damage
must be replaced.
Check for errors in the electrical system. Read the full Rise
Carbon manual for Shimano’s method for checking elec-
trical system errors.
Read the Range Extender Battery Error Codes and Trou-
bleshooting section in this manual in case the RS Range
Extender displays a recognized error.
We recommend that you always go to the dealer where
you purchased your bike or component to le a warranty
claim. In the case of a home delivery purchase, contact
the dealer that you selected during that process. If you
cannot go to the original dealer, you can check the list of
authorized dealers on our website or by contacting Orbea.

06 MAINTENANCE
Regularly check the connections and cables of the com-
ponents on the electric assistance system of your bike.
Connections must be clean and free from foreign objects.
The cables must be in good condition and not show signs
of fraying, cracking, or bending which can cause short cir-
cuits and lack of electrical assistance.
Components’ exteriors, such as remote controls and bat-
teries, must not show damage that would allow the entry
of water and other elements.
If there is any damage to the electrical components, con-
tact your Orbea dealer for diagnosis and/or replacement.
SPARE PARTS
Always use original Orbea RS spare parts.
To check the spare parts available for the Range Extender
battery, refer to the 2021 Rise Carbon Blue Paper techni-
cal manual on the Orbea website.
The installation of non-original spare parts
can cause damage to your bicycle and is not
covered by the warranty conditions.

parts can cause damage, resulting in break-
downs and serious accidents.

- Store batteries in a safe place, out of the reach of babies
and pets.
- If the battery is stored at temperatures outside the
recommended range, it may result in re or damage to the
battery.
-Storage temperature range: 0°C~35°C. Avoid large
changes in temperature.
- If you are not going to use the battery for a long period
of time, store it with approximately 70% of the remaining
battery capacity. Charge the battery every 3 months so
that the battery does not drain completely. To avoid cell
deterioration, never let the battery charge level drop below
10%.
- Store the battery or the bicycle with the battery installed
in a cool, dry place (aprox. 0°C~35°C) that is not exposed
to direct sunlight or rain. If the storage temperature is low
or high, the performance of the battery will be reduced
and the capacity per charge could decrease. When not
using the battery for a period of time, be sure to charge it
before use.
- Temperatures above 70ºC can cause leaks and become a
re hazard.
7.2. INSTRUCTIONS FOR BATTERY
STORAGE
The temperature ranges indicated in this manual reect
the maximum limits for use, charge, and storage provided
by the cell manufacturer.
In general, the use, charge, and storage of batteries
in temperatures below 0ºC will reduce the capacity
per charge, and doing so continuously can affect the
lifespan of the battery.
- Battery operating temperature ranges are detailed below.
Do not use the battery in temperatures outside these
ranges.
- If the battery is used at temperatures outside these
ranges, it could cause re, injury, or damage to the battery
itself.
- Use (discharge) the battery only within the discharge
temperature range: –10°C~50°C.
- Charge the battery only within the charging temper-
ature range: 0°C~40°C.
- The battery should be charged at room temperature, on
a dry, non-ammable surface, away from any source of
heat, moisture, or ammable materials.
- If the battery has been charged in a low temperature
environment (0°C or less), the available capacity per full
charge will be reduced.
- Avoid discharging the battery by continuously using it
below a 10% charge. Charge levels below 10% can affect
cell life and charge balancing.
- Avoid bumping or dropping the internal battery and the
Range Extender.
- If a blow or impact to the external battery casing shows
damage, do not charge or use the battery. Contact an
authorized dealer for diagnosis.
- Always ensure cable connections are in the correct
orientation. Connecting the cables without observing the
correct orientation can damage the terminals.
- Use only the specic RS charger and follow the specied
charging directions when charging the battery. Failure
to do so may cause the battery to overheat, explode, or
ignite.

- Do not leave the battery near heat sources such as
heaters, vehicles, or any dangerous place.
- Do not heat the battery or throw it in the re.
- Do not deform, modify, disassemble, or apply solder
directly to the battery.
- Do not connect the (+) and (-) terminals or any other
terminals with metal objects. Do not carry or store the
battery together with metallic objects such as necklaces
or hairpins. It could result in short circuiting, overheating,
burns, or other injuries.
- Do not puncture or crush the battery.
- If the battery is leaking and liquid comes in contact with
eyes, skin, or clothing, immediately wash the affected
areas with plenty of clean water and seek medical
assistance immediately. Battery uid can damage your
eyes and skin.
- Do not use the battery if it has any external damage.
- Do not use the battery if it has leaks, discoloration,
deformation, or any other abnormality.
- For your safety, read the entire user manual
before using Orbea RS batteries and chargers.
- Contact Orbea or an authorized dealer for
information on installation and adjustments
of products that are not found in the user
manual.
- Always follow the instructions for using
Orbea RS batteries to avoid injury to yourself,
your equipment, and the environment.
7.1. BATTERY SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
AND WARNINGS
NOTICE
- Do not disconnect the battery if the plug is wet.
Otherwise, it may cause electric shock. If there is water in
the plug, dry it well before connecting or disconnecting.
- Do not store the battery in direct sunlight or in places
with excessive heat (such as the interior of a car). Keep it
away from heat and ame. This can cause the battery to
leak.
- Use both hands when handling the product to avoid
danger and injury.
- If an error occurs during discharge or charge, stop using
the battery immediately and refer to the user manual.
If you are not sure, check with Orbea or an authorized
dealer.
- Do not wash your bicycle or battery with pressurized
water or immerse the bicycle or electrical components. All
electrical components are protected against splashes and
rain. However, the use of pressurized water can damage
components and cause short circuits. Do not allow the
battery terminals to get wet. Failure to do so could result
in the battery overheating, exploding, or igniting. Always
remove the Range Extender before washing the bike with
water or any other type of liquid.
- Do not use alcohol, solvents, or abrasive cleaners to
clean the battery or charger. Use a dry or slightly damp
cloth.
- Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play
with the battery or charger.
- If the battery explodes, contact the re department
immediately and carefully remove other batteries from the
area, if possible. Evacuate all persons from the re area
immediately and use plenty of cold water (minimum 10
times the weight of the battery) to extinguish the re.
- Respect the temperature ranges for using (discharging),
charging, and storing the bicycle, the internal battery, and
the Range Extender. The use, charge, or storage of the
batteries outside the temperature ranges can affect the
cells and reduce their lifespan and capacity.

- Do not use the battery immediately after receiving the
battery or bicycle. Make sure to fully charge it before the
rst use.
- Always turn off the battery and/or the bike before
inserting or removing the battery from the bicycle.
- Batteries, accessories, and packaging must be classied
for eco-responsible recycling.
- Lithium-ion batteries are valuable and recyclable
resources. Follow the regulations in your area for battery
recycling. If you are not sure, check with Orbea or an
authorized dealer.
- Do not dispose of the battery as household waste. It will
be accepted at the point of sale and duly arranged.
- Avoid transporting your bicycle outside of your vehicle in
the rain. All electrical components are protected against
splashes and rain. However, the speeds reached by your
vehicle can increase the effects of rain on electrical
components.
If you are transporting the bike outside of your vehicle,
remove the Range Extender from the bike and check that
the charging port cover is properly closed.
- Transporting the Orbea RS internal battery and the Range
Extender external battery must be done in compliance with
current regulations and the means of transport permitted
for these items (dangerous goods). Units must always
be transported or shipped using the original approved
packaging and an approved carrier. Find out about the
handling and transport instructions of this type of item in
your country.
- If the Range Extender must be sent to Orbea for repair
or diagnosis, it must be done in the original approved
packaging and by a carrier authorized to transport
batteries. Contact Orbea with questions on the best
option.
- If you plan to y with your electric bicycle, contact the
airline that you plan to use for transport instructions. Most
commercial airlines do not allow the transport of batteries
with a capacity greater than 100 Wh.
- It is recommended to charge the battery in an area with
a smoke detector.
- To avoid damage to the battery, and in the event of
a malfunction of the charge cut-off circuits, it is not
recommended to keep the battery permanently connected
to the charger. Avoid leaving the charger connected to the
battery for more than 5 hours continuously and always
charge the battery under supervision so that you can
disconnect the charger if you detect any abnormality such
as smoke, a burning smell, or re.
- If the battery does not fully charge within the designated
charging time of 3.5 hours plus another 2 hours, unplug
the battery from the charger and contact an authorized
dealer immediately.

- Charge the battery at least every 3 months to about
70% of its capacity, even when the bike is not in use. Cell
damage from prolonged low battery levels is not covered
by the warranty conditions.
- If the battery is completely depleted, charge it as soon as
possible. If the battery is not charged, it may deteriorate
and become unusable.
- The warranty does not cover products against natural
wear and tear and deterioration from normal use and
aging.
- Battery life will vary depending on factors such as
storage method, conditions of use, environment, and
characteristics of each battery.
- Do not disassemble the battery or other related parts,
including the label, as it may void the battery warranty.
- Do not disassemble the charging port of the Range
Extender. If the charging port is damaged and needs to be
replaced, contact an authorized Orbea dealer.
- See the Warranty section of this manual for more details
on the Orbea RS product warranty and the warranty claims
process.
7.7. WARRANTY EXCLUSION CONDITIONS
- The battery is not fully charged at the time of purchase.
Before using it on your bike, be sure to fully charge the
battery.
- Always turn off the bike and/or battery before connecting
or disconnecting the charger to the charging port.
- Make sure the bike’s charging port and plugs are always
clean and dry before connecting the charger.
- Never use the charger if you suspect it is damaged or you
know it is broken.
- Do not disassemble or modify the battery charger.
- Always keep the cover of the charging port closed if you
are not charging the battery.
- Do not insert metallic objects into the battery charging
port.
- Do not allow the battery charger to get wet, and do not
use the charger while it is wet. To avoid electric shock, do
not handle or hold it with wet hands.
- Do not use the charger when it is covered with a cloth or
other material.
- Do not touch the metal parts of the batteries or charger
to avoid electric shock.
- Do not charge the battery outdoors or in environments
with high humidity, and avoid exposure to rain or wind.
- To avoid damage to the cable, do not hold the charger by
the cable, and avoid wrapping the cable around the body
of the charger when storing it.
- Do not pedal or perform any type of battery discharge
operation while charging the battery.
- Wait 1 hour if you want to charge the battery after use, as
the battery temperature may be too high.

Before using the Range Extender for the
rst time, fully charge it with the RS charger.
Read the section Installing the Range Extend-
er for the installation method.
- Install the specic Range Extender bottle
cage on the Rise down tube using the screws
previously installed on the frame, with a
torque of 5Nm.
When installing the Range Extender bottle
cage, remove the 4 pre-assembled washers
on the frame and check that, once installed,
all 6 contact points of the bottle cage rest
properly against the down tube.

- Install the RS Range Extender battery in the bottle cage
and secure it with the rubber safety band.
The Range Extender bottle cage is compatible with the
use of standard bottles when the Range Extender is not
mounted on the bike.
08 RANGE
The Shimano EP8 RS motor, together with the Orbea RS
batteries, has been designed to provide the maximum
range available for a system with its reduced weight and
dimensions.
The system can provide ranges up to 4.5 hours with the
internal battery (360 Wh) and up to 8 hours by adding the
Range Extender (252 Wh). Capacity estimates are based
on using assistance prole 1 and ECO assistance prole
according to the original settings. In general, connecting
the RS Range Extender battery will increase the capacity
of the Orbea RS 360 Wh internal battery by approximately
70%.
The range available per charge will depend largely on fac-
tors such as:
- Level of assistance: The use of more powerful levels of
assistance will decrease the available range.
- Assistance prole: The assistance prole selected
through the Shimano Etube Project application will vary
the available range. Selecting assistance prole 2 means
increasing the power of each assistance mode, so the
range will be affected.
- Customization of assistance modes: The approxi-
mate range values take into account the power values
of each assistance mode according to Orbea’s original
settings. Customizing the power delivery of each mode
through the Shimano Etube Project app will affect the
nal range of the batteries.
- Temperature: Charging and using the battery in low
temperatures will decrease the range per charge.
- Weight of the cyclist and equipment/luggage.
- Cyclist’s pedaling power.
- Uneven terrain: Usage on uneven terrain will affect the
range available per charge.
- Frequent stops and starts can affect the available
range.

RANGE EXTENDER
If Rise was turned on when you plugged the
Range Extender into the bike’s charging port,
the electrical system will shut down and you
will need to turn Rise back on.
This happens because the system needs
to reboot to recognize the Range Extender
battery as part of the power supply. If you
were recording an activity through Garmin
Connect using the Orbea RS Toolbox app,
this will have no effect on the Rise data log
in Garmin Connect. Activity data will contin-
ue to be recorded when you start using Rise
again.
Once you start the bike with the Range Ex-
tender connected, the Range Extender is op-
erational. It is not necessary to turn on the
Range Extender.
Connect the Range Extender’s connection cable to the
Range Extender’s charging port and make sure it is prop-
erly attached to the Range Extender’s charging port tab.
Open the Rise charging port cover and connect the other
end of the cable to the charging port.
Secure the connection cable to the bottle cage.

The Range Extender powers the Shimano EP8 RS motor directly. When using Rise with
the Range Extender connected, only the Range Extender will supply current to the motor
until the Range Extender’s charge is exhausted. After the Range Extender is depleted, the
internal battery will switch to supplying power to the motor if it has charge remaining.
With the Range Extender connected to Rise (and Rise powered on after connecting the
Range Extender), the system will calculate the total capacity of both batteries (612 Wh),
and the information on the remaining charge of the system will show the total sum of
both batteries’ charge levels.

- Compatible Garmin devices. Orbea RS Toolbox
The Orbea RS Toolbox application allows the display of
relevant Rise data on your compatible Garmin device,
including the charge level of the battery(s) as a percentage.
- With Shimano SC-EM800 display
In assemblies with theSC-EM800 display, the charge level
of the battery(s) will be shown on the screen.

If, while riding the bicycle, the percentage
of the remaining battery is not visible in the
Orbea RS Toolbox, the data will be visible
again when the remaining battery level
drops by 1%. At that time, the EP8 system
will communicate the ANT+ battery level to
the Garmin unit and the battery level will be
visible on the unit.

To charge the Range Extender external battery, plug the
charger into an outlet. Without the charger connected to
the battery, the charger’s LED will blink green.
If the charger’s LED ashed red when con-
necting the charger to the bike or the Range
Extender, there is a problem with charging.
Disconnect the charger immediately and
contact an authorized dealer.
Disconnect the Range Extender connection cable from
the bike’s charging port by pressing the Range Extender’s
charging port tab and connect the charger to the Range
Extender. The charger’s LED will turn solid red while the
battery is charging.
Press the main button on the Range Extender battery for 1
second to determine the charge level of the battery.
The LEDs will illuminate and show the current charge level
in 25% increments.
Avoid charge levels below 10% continuously.
When the battery is fully charged, the charger’s LED will
blink green again to let you know that charging is com-
plete.

When the battery is fully charged, disconnect the charger
from the charging port by pressing the bottom tab and
pulling the charger cable.
While the Range Extender is charging, the battery charge

After the battery is fully charged, the LED light will turn off
after 5 seconds.
Avoid leaving the charger connected to the
battery for more than 5 hours continuously
and always charge the battery under supervi-
sion so that you can disconnect the charger
if you detect any abnormality such as smoke,
a burning smell, or re.
Lithium-ion batteries are sensitive to temper-
atures during the charging process. Always
respect the charging, discharging, and stor-
age temperature ranges described in this
manual.
If the Range Extender is not working properly
and the error cannot be identied using the
error code table, contact an authorized Or-
bea dealer for diagnosis.

CODES AND TROUBLESHOOTING
If pressing the main button on the battery does not illumi-
nate the LEDs, the protection circuit is working. To release
the protection circuit, charge the battery by connecting
the original RS charger.
If the LED light starts ashing as shown in the following
table when pressing the main button or while charging the
battery, follow the recommended steps to release the pro-
tection functions or perform some necessary verication
actions accordingly.

Enhorabuena por adquirir la batería externa Orbea RS Range Extender.
El RS Range Extender le da a tu Rise Carbon 252 Wh de capacidad extra para poder
seguir explorando. Junto con la batería interna Orbea RS de 360 Wh, la capacidad
total del sistema aumenta hasta los 612 Wh, lo que incrementa la autonomía dispo-
nible sólo con la batería interna en un 70%.
El portabidón RS es compatible con bidones de agua cuando el Range Extender no
está instalado.El RS Range Extender es la única batería externa que con una genero-
sa capacidad de 252 Wh, puede sustituirse por un bidón en segundos.

GARANTÍA LEGA
La batería RS Range Extender está cubierta por una garan-
tía legal de 2 años desde el momento de la compra del ar-
tículo o la bicicleta en la que se incluía de manera original,
o el periodo estipulado como garantía legal en el país de
compra.
Esta garantía cubre todos los productos de Orbea frente a
defectos de fabricación y/o falta de conformidad y garantiza
la reparación o sustitución del producto defectuoso sin cos-
te adicional para el cliente afectado.
Esta garantía no cubre en ningún caso los daños derivados
de un uso inadecuado, caídas o accidentes, instalación in-
correcta o falta de mantenimiento o no observación de las
indicaciones de uso, almacenamiento, carga, etc. de este
manual.
La pérdida de capacidad de las baterías RS debido al enve-
jecimiento natural de las mismas por uso, carga y almace-
namiento no está contemplado dentro de las condiciones
de garantía.

La batería RS Range Extender no está incluida en las con-
diciones de Garantía de por Vida Orbea aplicada a cuadros
y horquillas rígidas.
PROCESO DE RECLAMACIONES DE GARANTÍA
Todas las reclamaciones de garantía deben ser procesadas
a través de un distribuidor autorizado Orbea, quien reali-
zará el diagnóstico inicial y remitirá a Orbea toda la docu-
mentación necesaria para realizar un diagnóstico completo
de la reclamación en cuestión. El distribuidor informará al
propietario del estado del proceso y de la decisión sobre la
reclamación de garantía por Orbea.
Te recomendamos que siempre acudas al distribuidor don-
de compraste tu bicicleta o componente para tramitar una
reclamación de garantía, o a aquel que elegiste durante el
proceso de compra de una bicicleta que te fue entregada
directamente en tu domicilio. En caso de no poder acudir
Antes de usar tu bicicleta eléctrica, realiza todas las com-
probaciones de seguridad del estado de funcionamiento de
los componentes de la misma. Puedes encontrar las com-
probaciones necesarias de los elementos mecánicos de la
bicicleta en el manual técnico Blue Paper de Rise Carbon.
Comprobaciones del sistema eléctrico: Enciende la bici-
cleta y comprueba que el sistema eléctrico funciona correc-
tamente. Comprueba que haya asistencia eléctrica y que
todos los componentes funcionan (motor, display, cambio
de asistencia y sensor de velocidad).
Si no hay asistencia eléctrica, comprueba todas las conexio-
nes entre los componentes y el estado de los mismos y los
cables (cables o componentes que muestren daños deben
ser reemplazados).
Comprueba que no haya errores en el sistema eléctrico.

06 MANTENIMIENTO
Comprueba regularmente las conexiones y cables de los
componentes del sistema de asistencia eléctrica en tu bi-
cicleta. Las conexiones deben estar limpias y no presentar
objetos extraños. Los cables deben estar en buen estado y
no presentar cortes o dobleces que puedan causar cortocir-
cuitos y falta de asistencia eléctrica.
El exterior de los componentes como mandos remotos y
baterías no deben mostrar daños que permitan el ingreso
de agua y otros elementos.
Ante cualquier daño de los componentes eléctricos, dirígete
a tu distribuidor Orbea para su diagnóstico y/o sustitución.

Utiliza siempre recambios originales Orbea RS.
Para conocer los recambios disponibles para la batería Ran-
ge Extender, consulta el manual técnico Blue Paper de Rise
Carbon 2021 en la web de Orbea.
La instalación de repuestos no originales
pueden producir daños en tu bicicleta que
no están cubiertos por las condiciones de
garantía.

- Almacena las baterías en un lugar seguro fuera del alcan-
ce de los bebés y las mascotas.
- Si la batería se almacena a temperaturas fuera de este
rango, puede resultar en incendios o daños a la batería.
-Rango de temperatura de almacenamiento:
0°C~35°C. Evite grandes cambios de temperatura.
- Si no vas a usar la batería por un largo período de tiem-
po, guárdala con aproximadamente el 70% de la capacidad
7.2. CONDICIONES PARA EL
ALMACENAMIENTO DE LAS BATERÍAS
- No deformes, modiques, desarmes ni apliques soldadura
directamente a la batería.
- No conectes los terminales (+) y (-) y otros terminales con
objetos metálicos. No lleves ni guardes la batería junto con
objetos metálicos como collares u horquillas. Podría resul-
tar en cortocircuitos, sobrecalentamiento, quemaduras u
otras lesiones.
- No perfores o aplastes la batería.
- Si hay fugas en la batería y el líquido entra en contacto
con los ojos, la piel o la ropa, lava inmediatamente las áreas
afectadas con abundante agua limpia y busca asistencia
médica de inmediato. El líquido de la batería puede dañar
tus ojos y piel.
- No uses la batería si tiene algún daño externo.
- No uses la batería si tiene fugas, decoloración, deforma-
ción o cualquier otra anomalía.
- No desconectes o conectes la batería si el enchufe está
mojado. De lo contrario, puede provocar descargas eléc-
tricas. Si hay agua en el enchufe, sécalo bien antes de co-
nectarlo.
- No guardes la batería bajo luz directa del sol o en lugares
con excesivo calor (como el interior de un coche). Mantenla
alejada del calor y llamas. Esto puede provocar fugas de
la batería.
- Usa ambas manos cuando manejes el producto para evitar
peligros y lesiones.
- Si se produce un error durante la descarga o la carga,
deja de usar la batería inmediatamente y consulta el Manual
del usuario. Si no estás seguro/a, consulta con Orbea o un
distribuidor autorizado.
- No laves tu bicicleta o batería con agua a presión ni sumer-
jas la bicicleta o los componentes eléctricos. Todos los com-
ponentes eléctricos están protegidos contra salpicaduras y
lluvia. Sin embargo, el uso de agua a presión puede dañar
los componentes y producir cortocircuitos. No permitas que
los terminales de la batería se mojen. De lo contrario, podría
resultar en sobrecalentamiento, explosión o ignición de la
batería. Retira siempre el Range Extender antes de lavar la
bicicleta con agua o cualquier otro tipo de material líquido.
- No uses alcohol, solventes o limpiadores abrasivos para
limpiar la batería o el cargador. Utiliza un paño seco o lige-
ramente húmedo.
- Los niños deben ser supervisados para asegurarse de que
no jueguen con la batería y el cargador.
- Si la batería explota, contacta con los bomberos de inme-
diato y retira con precaución otras baterías si es posible,
evacúa a todas las personas del área de fuego inmediata-
mente y usa abundante agua fría (mínimo 10 veces el peso
de la batería) para apagar el fuego.
-Respeta los rangos de temperatura de uso (descarga),
carga y almacenamiento de la bicicleta (batería interna) y
Range Extender. El uso, carga o almacenamiento de las ba-
terías fuera de estos rangos de temperatura puede afectar
las celdas y reducir su vida útil y autonomía.
Los rangos de temperatura indicados en este manual ree-
jan los límites máximos de uso, carga y almacenamiento
previstos por el fabricante de las celdas.
En general, el uso, carga y almacenamiento de las ba-
terías en temperaturas por debajo de 0ºC hará que la
autonomía por carga se vea reducida y hacerlo de ma-
nera continuada puede afectar la vida útil de la batería.
- Los rangos de temperatura de funcionamiento de la bate-
ría se detallan a continuación. No uses la batería en tempe-
raturas fuera de estos rangos.
- Podría ser motivo de incendios, lesiones o daños a la ba-
tería si la batería es usada a temperaturas que están fuera
de estos rangos.
- Usa (descarga) la batería solamente dentro del rango
de temperatura de descarga: –10 ° C ~ 50 ° C.
- Carga la batería solamente dentro del rango de tem-
peratura de carga: 0 ° C ~ 40 ° C.
- La batería debe cargarse a temperatura ambiental, en una
supercie seca y no inamable, lejos de cualquier fuente de
calor, humedad o materiales inamables.
- Si la batería se ha cargado en un entorno de baja tempe-
ratura (0°C o menos), se acortará la autonomía disponible
por carga completa.
- Evita descargar la batería por uso de forma continuada por
debajo del 10% de carga. Niveles de carga por debajo del
10% puede afectar la vida útil de las celdas y el balanceo
de la carga.

- Sigue siempre las instrucciones de uso de
las baterías Orbea RS para evitar lesiones
corporales y del equipo y al entorno.
7.1. ADVERTENCIAS E INSTRUCCIONES
DE SEGURIDAD DE LAS BATERÍAS.

no usar la batería por un periodo de tiempo, asegúrate de
cargarla antes de usarla.
- Temperaturas superiores a 70º pueden causar fugas y
peligro de incendio.

- No uses la batería inmediatamente después de recibir la
batería o la bicicleta. Asegúrate de cargarla completamente
antes del primer uso.
- Apaga siempre la batería y/o la bicicleta antes de insertar
o retirar la batería de la bicicleta.
- Se deben clasicar las baterías, accesorios y embalajes
para un reciclaje eco responsable.
- Las baterías de ion de litio son recursos reciclables y va-
liosos. Sigue las regulaciones de tu área para el reciclaje
de baterías. Si no estás seguro, consulte con Orbea o un
distribuidor autorizado.
- No deseches la batería como basura doméstica. Será
aceptada en el punto de venta y debidamente dispuesta.
-Evita transportar tu bicicleta fuera de tu vehículo con lluvia.
Todos los componentes eléctricos están protegidos contra
salpicaduras y lluvia. Sin embargo, las velocidades alcan-
zadas por tu vehículo pueden acrecentar los efectos de la
lluvia en los componentes eléctricos.
Si vas a transportar la bicicleta fuera de tu vehículo, retira el
Range Extender de la bicicleta y comprueba que la tapa del
puerto de carga está correctamente cerrada.
-El transporte de la batería interna Orbea RS y la batería
externa Range Extender debe hacerse cumpliendo la nor-
mativa vigente y los medios de transporte permitidos para
estos artículos (mercancía peligrosa). Las unidades deben
ser siempre transportadas o enviadas usando el embalaje
homologado original y un transportista homologado. Infór-
mate de las condiciones de manejo y transporte de este tipo
de artículos en tu país.
Si el Range Extender debe ser enviado a Orbea para su
reparación o diagnóstico, debe hacerse en el embalaje ori-
ginal homologado y mediante un transportista habilitado
para transporte baterías. Desde Orbea te informaremos de
la mejor opción.
-Si planeas viajar con tu bicicleta eléctrica, infórmate de las
condiciones de transporte de baterías de la línea aérea que
planeas usar para transportar tu bicicleta. La mayoría de ae-
rolíneas comerciales no permiten el transporte de baterías
con una capacidad mayor de 100Wh.
- Para evitar daños al cable no sujetes el cargador por el
cable y evita enrollar el cable al cuerpo del cargador al guar-
darlo.
- No pedalees ni realices ningún tipo de operación de des-
carga de la batería al estar cargando la batería.
- Espera una hora si deseas cargar la batería después de
usarla, ya que la temperatura de la batería podría estar de-
masiada alta.
- Es recomendable cargar la batería en un área con un de-
tector de humo.
- No se recomienda tener la batería conectada permanente-
mente al cargador para evitar daños a la batería en caso de
mal funcionamiento de los circuitos de corte de carga. Evita
dejar el cargador conectado a la batería durante más de 5
horas de manera continuada y siempre carga la batería bajo
supervisión de manera que puedas desconectar el cargador
si detectas alguna anomalía como humo, olor a quemado
o fuego.
- Si la batería no se carga por completo en el tiempo de car-
ga designado de 3.5 horas más otras 2 horas más, desen-
chufa la batería del cargador y contacta con un distribuidor
autorizado inmediatamente.
7.4. CONDICIONES PARA

- Carga la batería al menos cada 3 meses hasta aproxima-
damente el 70% de su capacidad, incluso cuando la bicicle-
ta no esté en uso. Daños a las celdas por niveles bajos de
batería prolongados no están cubiertos por las condiciones
de la garantía.
- Si la batería se ha agotado por completo, cárgala lo antes
posible. Si no se carga la batería, puede deteriorarse y que-
dar inutilizable.
- La garantía no cubre los productos contra el desgaste na-
tural y el deterioro del uso normal y el envejecimiento.
- La vida útil de la batería variará según factores como el
método de almacenamiento, las condiciones de uso, el en-
torno y las características de cada batería.
- No desarmes la batería u otras partes relacionadas, incluso
la etiqueta, ya que puede causar la pérdida de la garantía
de la batería.
-No desmontes el puerto de carga del Range Extender. Si
el puerto de carga está dañado y debe ser reemplazado,
contacta con un distribuidor autorizado Orbea.
- Consulta la sección de Garantía de este manual para más
detalles sobre la garantía de productos Orbea RS y el proce-
so de reclamaciones de garantía.
7.7. CONDICIONES DE INVALIDACIÓN
DE GARANTÍA
-Evita golpes y caídas de la batería interna y el Range Ex-
tender.
Si tras un golpe o impacto la carcasa externa de la batería
muestra daños, no cargues o utilices la batería y contacta
con un distribuidor autorizado para su diagnóstico.
- Realiza siempre las conexiones de los cables en la orien-
tación correcta. La conexión de los cables sin observar la
orientación correcta puede dañar los terminales.
- Usa solamente el cargador especíco RS y sigue las condi-
ciones de carga especicadas al cargar la batería. De lo con-
trario, podría ocasionar el sobrecalentamiento, explosión o
ignición de la batería.
- La batería no está completamente cargada en el momento
de la compra. Antes de usarla en tu bicicleta, asegúrate de
cargar la batería completamente.
- Apaga siempre la bicicleta y/o la batería antes de conectar
o desconectar el cargador al puerto de carga.
- Asegúrate de que el puerto de carga de la bicicleta y los
enchufes estén siempre limpios y secos antes de conectar
el cargador.
- Nunca uses el cargador si sospechas que está dañado o
sabes que está roto.
- No desmontes ni modiques el cargador de batería.
- Mantén siempre la tapa del puerto de carga cerrada si no
estás cargando la batería.
- No introduzcas objetos metálicos en el puerto de carga
de las baterías.
- No permitas que se moje el cargador de batería y no uses
el cargador mientras esté mojado. No lo sujetes ni lo sosten-
gas con las manos mojadas para evitar descargas eléctricas.
- No uses el cargador cuando está cubierto con un paño u
otro material.
- No toques las partes metálicas de las baterías o cargador

Antes de usar el Range Extender por primera
vez, cárgalo completamente con el cargador
RS. Lee la sección Cargar el Range Extender
para conocer el método de carga.
-Instala el portabidón especíco del Range
Extender en el tubo diagonal de Rise, utili-
zando los tornillos previamente instalados en
el cuadro, con un par de apriete de 5Nm.
Al instalar el portabidón del Range Extender,
retira las cuatro arandelas premontadas en el
cuadro y comprueba que, una vez instalado,
los seis puntos de contacto del portabidón se
apoyan correctamente en el tubo diagonal.

-Instala la batería RS Range Extender en el portabidón y ase-
gurala con la goma de seguridad.
El soporte del Range Extender es compatible con el uso de
bidones estándar cuando el Range Extender no esté mon-
tado en la bicicleta.
08 AUTONOMÍA
El motor Shimano EP8 RS, junto a las baterías Orbea RS,
han sido diseñados para proporcionar la máxima autonomía
disponible para un sistema de su reducido peso y dimen-
siones.
El sistema puede proporcionar autonomías de hasta 4,5
horas con la batería interna (360 Wh) y de hasta 8 horas
mediante la conexión del Range Extender (252 Wh), ambas
estimaciones utilizando el perl de asistencia 1 y el nivel
de asistencia ECO según los ajustes originales. En general
la conexión de la batería RS Range Extender aumentará en
un 70% aproximadamente la autonomía conseguida con la
batería interna Orbea RS 360 Wh.
La autonomía disponible por carga dependerá en gran me-
dida de factores como:
-Nivel de asistencia: El uso de niveles de asistencia más
potentes disminuirá la autonomía disponible.
-Perl de asistencia: El perl de asistencia seleccionado
a través de la aplicación Shimano Etube Project variará la
autonomía disponible. La selección de perl de asistencia 2
supone elevar la potencia de cada modo de asistencia, por
lo que la autonomía podría verse afectada.
-Personalización de modos de asistencia: Los valores
de autonomía aproximados tienen en cuenta los valores
de potencia de cada modo de asistencia según los ajustes
originales de Orbea. La personalización de la entrega de
potencia de cada modo a través de la aplicación Shimano
Etube Project afectará la autonomía nal de las baterías.
-Temperatura: La carga y uso de la batería en bajas tem-
peraturas disminuirá la autonomía por carga.
-Peso del ciclista y equipación/equipaje.
-Potencia de pedaleo del ciclista.
-Terreno y desnivel: El uso en terreno roto y desniveles
positivos afectará la autonomía disponible por carga.
-Paradas y arranques frecuentes pueden afectar la auto-
nomía disponible.

10 CONEXIÓN DEL RS
RANGE EXTENDER
Si Rise estaba encendida al conectar el Ran-
ge Extender al puerto de carga de la bicicle-
ta, el sistema eléctrico se apagará y deberás
volver a encender Rise.
Este comportamiento es debido a que el sis-
tema necesita reiniciarse para reconocer la
batería Range Extender como parte del sis-
tema de alimentación. Si estabas grabando
una actividad a través de Garmin Connect
utilizando la aplicación Orbea RS Toolbox,
esto no tendrá ningún efecto sobre el regis-
tro de datos de Rise en Garmin Connect. Los
datos de la actividad se seguirán registrando
cuando empieces a utilizar Rise de nuevo.
Una vez enciendas la bicicleta con el Range
Extender conectado, el Range Extender esta-
rá operativo. No es necesario encender el
Range Extender.
AVISO
Conecta el cable de conexión del Range Extender al puer-
to de carga del Range Extender y asegúrate de que queda
correctamente jado a la pestaña del puerto de carga del
Range Extender. Abre la tapa del puerto de carga de Rise y
conecta el otro extremo del cable al puerto de carga.
Asegura el cable de conexión al portabidón.

El Range Extender alimenta el motor Shimano EP8 RS directamente. Al usar Rise con el
Range Extender conectado, sólo el Range Extender proporcionará corriente al motor hasta
agotar la carga del Range Extender. Tras agotar el Range Extender, la batería interna pasará
a proporcionar corriente al motor si tuviese carga restante.
Con el Range Extender conectado a Rise (habiendo encendido Rise tras conectar el Range
Extender), el sistema calculará la capacidad total de ambas baterías (612 Wh) y la infor-
mación de la carga restante del sistema vendrá dada por la suma de los niveles de carga
de ambas baterías.

La aplicación Orbea RS Toolbox permite la visualización de
datos relevantes de Rise en tu dispositivo Garmin compa-
tible, entre ellos el nivel de carga de la(s) batería(s) como
porcentaje.
-Con display Shimano SC-EM800
En montajes con el display SC-EM800, el nivel de carga de
la(s) batería(s) se mostrará en la pantalla.

Si durante el uso de la bicicleta el porcentaje
de la batería restante no es visible en Orbea
RS Toolbox, el dato volverá a ser visible cuan-
do el nivel de batería restante disminuye un
1%. En ese momento, el sistema EP8 volverá
a comunicar mediante ANT+ el nivel de ba-
tería a la unidad Garmin y el nivel de batería
será visible en la unidad.

EL RANGE EXTENDER
Para cargar la batería externa Range Extender, conecta el
cargador a un enchufe. Sin el cargador conectado a la bate-
ría, el LED del cargador parpadeará en verde.
Si el LED del cargador parpadea en rojo al
conectar el cargador a la bicicleta o el Range
Extender, existe un problema con la carga.
Desconecta el cargador inmediatamente y
contacta con un distribuidor autorizado.
AVISO
Desconecta el cable de conexión del Range Extender al
puerto de carga de la bicicleta pulsando la pestaña del
puerto de carga del Range Extender y conecta el cargador
al Range Extender. El LED del cargador lucirá en rojo de
manera permanente mientras la batería está cargando.
Pulsa durante 1 segundo el botón principal de la batería
Range Extender para conocer el nivel de carga de la misma.
Los LED lucirán mostrando el nivel de carga actual en seg-
mentos de 25%.
Evita niveles de carga inferiores al 10% de manera conti-
nuada.
Cuando la batería esté completamente cargada, el LED del
cargador volverá a parpadear en verde para dejarte saber
que la carga ha nalizado.

Cuando la batería esté completamente cargada, desconecta
el cargador del puerto de carga presionando la pestaña infe-
rior y tirando del cable del cargador.
Mientras el Range Extender está cargando, los LED de in-
dicación de carga de la batería mostrarán el nivel actual
de carga. Después de que la batería esté completamente
cargada, la luz de LED se apagará después de 5 segundos.
Evita dejar el cargador conectado a la batería
durante más de 5 horas de manera continua-
da y siempre carga la batería bajo supervi-
sión de manera que puedas desconectar el
cargador si detectas alguna anomalía como
humo, olor a quemado o fuego.
Las baterías de litio son sensibles a las tem-
peraturas durante el proceso de carga. Res-
peta siempre los rangos de temperatura de
carga, descarga y almacenamiento descritas
en este manual.

Si el Range Extender no funciona correcta-
mente y no es posible identicar el error me-
diante la tabla de códigos de error, contacta
con un distribuidor autorizado Orbea para su
diagnóstico.

Si al presionar el botón principal de la batería no se en-
cienden los indicadores LED, el circuito de protección está
funcionando. Para liberar el circuito de protección, carga la
batería conectando el cargador original RS.
Si la luz de LED comienza a parpadear como se muestra en
la siguiente tabla al presionar el botón principal o durante la
carga de la batería, sigue las acciones recomendadas para
liberar las funciones de protección o realiza algunas accio-
nes de vericación necesarias correspondientemente.

Nous vous félicitons d'avoir acheté la batterie externe Orbea RS Range Extender.
Le RS Range Extender fournit à votre Rise Carbon 252Wh une capacité supplémentaire
pour vous permettre de continuer à explorer. Avec la batterie interne Orbea RS
360 Wh, la capacité totale du système s'étend jusqu'à 612 Wh, c'est-à-dire une
augmentation de 70% de l'autonomie disponible avec la batterie interne seulement.
Le porte-bidon RS est compatible avec les bidons d’eau lorsque le Range Extender
