INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on your purchase of the BAR913 Digital Weather
Forecaster with Hygrometer and RF Clock. The BAR913 is an all-
in-one weather forecasting device and clock.
The BAR913, a weather forecasting device, has several weather
related functions. A main feature is that it takes and records
temperatures in more than one location. Using a wireless remote
thermo-sensor, it can simultaneously monitor temperatures in
three remote locations. The unit will show temperature trends and
record maximum and minimum temperature readings.
As part of the weather forecasting function, a built-in barometer
that displays atmospheric pressure. Using graphic illustrations
the unit displays atmospheric pressure trends and displays forecasts
as sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, and rainy.
The BAR913 is also a Radio Frequency (RF) controlled clock. It can
automatically synchronize its current time and date when it is
brought within an approximate 1500 km radius of the radio signal
generated from Frankfurt, Germany (DCF77).
Included with this unit is a hygrometer. This feature graphically
illustrates the current comfort level, displays the current humidity,
and shows maximum and minimum humidity levels.
Other features of the BAR913 include, backlight, extra-large liquid
crystal display (LCD), and a daily crescendo alarm with an eight
minute snooze function.
No wire installation is required between the main and remote units.
As the BAR913 operates at 433 MHz, it can be used in the USA and
most places in Continental Europe.

The extra-large LCD occupies the front panel. The LCD is
subdivided into five easy-to-read sections. Each section
has a specific purpose that relates to weather forecasting,
humidity, or clock / calendar / alarm functions.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN
For best operation:
1. Insert batteries for the remote unit first. Then proceed with
inserting the batteries for the main unit.
2. Position the remote unit and the main unit within effective
transmission range. In usual circumstances, the effective range
is 30 meters.
3. Though the remote unit is weather proof, it should be placed
away form direct sunlight, rain or snow.
BATTERY INSTALLATION:
REMOTE UNIT
The remote unit uses two (2) UM-4 or “AAA” size batteries.
Installation:
1. Remove the outer battery compartment door.
2. Remove inner screws and open the inner clear plastic
compartment door.
3. Select the channel number on the CHANNEL slide switch.
4. Select the temperature display unit on the °C/°F slide switch.
5. Insert the batteries strictly according to the polarities shown.
6. Replace the battery compartment door and secure its screws.
BATTERY INSTALLATION: MAIN UNIT
1. Gently lift the tab on the battery compartment door.
2. Insert four UM-3 or “AA” size alkaline batteries.

3. Replace the battery compartment door.
Note: For both the remote sensor and the main unit, replace batteries
when they are low. The [ ] battery low indicator in the outdoor
temperature window will be displayed when the batteries are low.
ABOUT RADIO RECEPTION
The BAR913 is designed to automatically synchronize its calendar
clock once it is brought within range of the Frankfurt DCF77 radio
signal. It will scan and adjust every full hour.
When the BAR913 is within range, its radio-control mechanism
will override all manual settings.
When the unit is receiving radio signal, the RADIO RECEPTION
signal will start to blink. A complete reception generally takes
about two to 10 minutes, depending on the strength of the radio
signal.
When the reception is complete, the RADIO RECEPTION signal
will stop blinking. The strength of the reception for the last full
hour will be indicated.
For better reception, place the clock away from metal objects and
electrical appliances to minimize interference.
Should you wish to deactivate the RF controlled function, press
MODE and DOWN(-) button simultaneously.
To reactivate the RF control function, press MODE and UP(+)
simultaneously.
HOW TO USE THE BACKLIGHT
Press SNOOZE/LIGHT baronce.Thebacklightwill be activate for
five seconds.

3. Setting the time
Press MODE again, the hour settings will flash. Use the UP(+)
or DOWN(-) button to enter the hours. Holding down either the
up or down position will increase or decrease the value rapidly.
Press MODE again, the minute settings will flash. Again, use the
UP(+) or DOWN(-) button to change the minutes.
Note: When changes are made to the clock settings, the seconds
will start from zero.
4. Setting the calendar
Proceeding for the time display:
Press MODE again, the calendar settings are displayed and the
year is flashing. Use the UP(+) or DOWN(-) button to change the
year.
Press MODE button, the month settings will flash. Enter the
appropriate month using the UP(+) or DOWN(-) button.
Press MODE button, the day settings will flash. Enter the
appropriate day using the UP(+) or DOWN(-) button.
Press MODE again. The day (D) and month (M) symbols will
flash. The unit provides an option that allows either the day or
the month to be indicated first. Using the UP(+) or DOWN (-)
button, select whether the calendar reads as: Day/Month; or
Month/Day.

Press MODE again to confirm and exit.
HOW TO MANUALLY SET THE CLOCK
1. Setting the 12hr./24hr. clock display
Press MODE and hold for three seconds. The 12-hr value will
flash. Use the UP(+) or DOWN(-) buttons to make a selection
between a twenty-four hour display and a twelve hour display.
2. Setting the Multilingual Day-Of-The-Week Function
The day-of-the-week can be expressed as an abbreviation in five
different languages. The languages and their selected
abbreviations for each day of the week are
shown in the language chart below.
Proceeding from the clock display:
Press MODE again and the language setting will flash. Use the
UP(+) or DOWN(-) button to select E for English, I for Italian, D
for German, F for French, or S for Spanish.

ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE
The atmospheric pressure indicator, in the weather forecast window,
uses arrows to indicate if the atmospheric pressure is increasing,
remaining stable, or decreasing.
HOW TO SET AND ACTIVATE THE
ALARM
1. To set the Alarm
Press ALARM button to display the alarm time.
Press ALARM and hold for three seconds, the value for the hour
setting will flash.
Press UP(+) or DOWN(-) buttons to make changes to the alarm
hour setting.
Press ALARM, the minute setting will flash. Enter the value for
the minute setting.
Press ALARM to exit.
The alarm is automatically activated.
2. To deactivate the alarm setting
Press ALARM ON/OFF [] to activate or deactivate the
alarm setting. When the ALARM ON icon [ ]is visible, the
alarm is set. The alarm will active at the specified time.
ALARM AND SNOOZE FUNCTION
When the alarm activates, the backlight will go on for five seconds
and the ALARM ON icon will flash.
The alarm function has a built in crescendo type alarm system.
Initially, the active alarm will have a gentle sound. The intensity
will increase in three stages. Without interruption, the unit will
alarm for two minutes.
To stop the alarm, press any button. However, if the SNOOZE/
LIGHT bar is pressed, the SNOOZE functionwill be triggered. The
alarm will stop and the ALARM ON icon blinks for eight minutes.
Then the alarm activates again.
To deactivate the SNOOZE function, press the ALARM ON/OFF
button.
CHECKING INDOOR AND REMOTE
SENSOR TEMPERATURES
Theindoor temperature readings,and indoor temperaturemaximum/
minimum indicator are all part of the INDOOR TEMPERATURE
window.
The OUTDOOR temperature window displays remote sensor
temperatures, maximum and minimum temperatures and outdoor
temperature trends. This window also displays the remote sensor
channels and a remote sensor battery low [ ] icon.
The temperature can be shown in Centigrade (°C) or Fahrenheit
(°F). Select the appropriate reading by using the °C/°F slide switch
(located in the battery compartment). Slide the switch to °C for
Centigrade or °F for Fahrenheit.

This unit is able to measure outdoor temperatures within -50°C (-
58°F) and +70°C (+158°F) and indoor temperatures within -9.9° C
(14.2° F) and 70.° C (158.°F). If the temperature goes above or below
these amounts, the display will show a flashing “HHH” or “LLL”.
NOTE ON OUTDOOR-REMOTE
TEMPERATURE
Once batteries are in place in the remote unit, it will start
transmitting samplings at 30 second intervals.
If no signals are received when the outdoor-remote temperature is
selected, “ ” will be displayed. To force the main unit to
search for remote sensor signals, press MEMORY and CHANNEL
simultaneously.
If that fails, check that the remote sensor is still in place. Make sure
the transmission is within range and the path is clear of obstacles
and interference.
Repeat this procedure whenever you find discrepancies between
the display on the main unit and the display on the remote sensor.
NOTE ON SETTING REMOTE SENSOR
CHANNELS
The unit has an auto-scan function that sequentially displays
temperature readings of up to three remote sensors. If more than one
remote sensor is being used, set the channel before inserting the
batteries.

MAXIMUM AND MINIMUM
TEMPERATURES
The maximum and minimum recorded temperatures will be
automaticallystoredinmemory.Todisplaythem,press MEMORY.
Press MEMORYagaintoalternatebetweenthemaximum,minimum,
and current temperatures. The respective MAX or MIN indicator
will be displayed.
To clear the memory, press MEMORY button and hold for three
seconds. The maximum and minimum recorded temperatures will
be erased. Subsequently, if you press MEMORY after the memory
has been erased, the maximum and minimum temperature will have
the same values as the current reading.
TEMPERATURE TREND
The temperature trend indicator shows the trend of temperatures
collected at that particular remote sight. Three trends: rising, steady,
and falling will be shown.
WEATHER FORECAST
The unit is capable of detecting atmospheric pressure changes.
Basedoncollecteddata,itcanpredicttheweatherfortheforthcoming
12 to 24 hours. The effective range covers an area of 30 to 50 km.

NOTE:
1. The accuracy of a general pressure-based weather forecast is
about 70% to 75%.
2. The weather forecasts from this unit are predictions that cover
the next 12 to 24 hours. It may not necessarily reflect the current
situation.
3. The “Sunny” icon, as applies to night time, implies clear weather.
HOW TO USE THE RELATIVE
HUMIDITY
The relative humidity is displayed as a percent. The corresponding
“happy face” illustration graphically illustrates the level of
humidity as comfortable, wet, or dry.

The unit can be wall-mounted using its recessed screw holes or

The unit can be wall-mounted using its recessed screw holes or
placed on a flat surface using the collapsible table stand. Gently
pull the table stand from it’s collapsed position. Position the lock
to secure the stand.

HOW TO RESET THE UNIT
The RESET slot allows you to return all settings to factory values.
Accessing the slot is required only when the unit is not operating
in a favorable way such as in the rare case of a malfunction.
The RESET slot is located inside the battery compartment door. To
use the button,
1. Lift open the battery compartment door.
2. Place a blunt stylus into the slot and press.
3. Replace the battery compartment door.
MAINTENANCE
When handled properly, this unit is engineered to give you years
of satisfactory service. Here are a few product care instructions:
1. Do not immerse the unit in water. If the unit comes in contact
with a water, dry it immediately with a soft lint-free cloth.
2. Do not clean the unit with abrasive or corrosive materials.
Abrasive cleaning agents may scratch the plastic parts and
corrode the electronic circuit.
3. Do not subject the unit to excessive: force, shock, dust,
temperature, or humidity. Such treatment may result in
malfunction, a shorter electronic life span, damaged batteries, or
distorted parts.
4. Do not tamper with the unit’s internal components. Doing so
will terminate the unit’s warranty and may cause damage. The
unit contains no user-serviceable parts.
5. Only use new batteries as specified in this instruction manual.
Do not mix new and old batteries as the old batteries may leak.
6. Read this instruction manual thoroughly before operating the
unit.

INTRODUZIONE
Vi ringraziamo per aver scelto il modello BAR913, esso é in grado
di mostrare le previsioni meteorologiche, ed é dotato di igrometro
e di orologio radiocontrollato.
Il modello BAR913 combina in un unico apparecchio la funzione
di barometro e quella di orologio. Il modello BAR913 possiede
varie funzioni oltre a quella primaria di prevedere il tempo
atmosferico. Unafunzioneimportanteéquelladirilevareeregistrare
la temperatura in varie sedi. Usando un termo-sensore a distanza, é
in grado di monitorare simultaneamente le temperature di tre sedi.
L’apparecchio puó mostrare la tendenza delle temperature e
registrare le minime e le massime.
L’apparecchio possiede un barometro incorporato che mostra la
tendenza della pressione atmosferica ed é quindi in grado di fare
previsioni. Servendosi di grafici, l’apparecchio mostra la tendenza
della pressione atmosferica e previsioni quali; sole, parzialmente
nuvoloso, nuvoloso, pioggia.
Il modello BAR913 funge anche da orologio radiocontrollato .
Esso puó sincronizzarsi automaticamente sull’ora e la data esatta
quando viene posto entro un raggio approssimativo di 1500 Km.
dal segnale radio trasmesso da Francoforte in Germania (DCF 77).
Inserito nell’apparecchio si trova anche un igrometro. Esso illustra
graficamente il livello ottimale dell’umiditá e quello attuale,
mostrando inoltre l’umiditá massima e minima.
Altre caratteristiche del modello BAR913 includono un ampio
display a cristalli liquidi (LCD) retroilluminato, un orologio-
sveglia con suoneria ad intensitá crescente ed una funzione snooze
di otto minuti.
Non occorre collegare fili tra l’unitá principale e le unitá a distanza.
Infatti il modello BAR 913 opera a 433 Mhz, esso puó essere usato
negli Stati Uniti e in gran parte dell’Europa Continentale.

PRIMA DI INIZIARE
Per un migliore risultato:
1. Inserite per prime le batterie dell’unitá a distanza. Procedete
poi ad inserire le batterie dell’unitá principale.
2. Collocate l’unitá a distanza e l’unitá principale entro un raggio
di trasmissione efficace. In circostanze normali il raggio é di
circa 30 metri.
3. Sebbene l’unitá a distanza sia impermeabile, dovrebbe essere
posta al riparo dalla luce solare diretta, dalla pioggia e dalla neve.
INSTALLAZIONE BATTERIE E
SELEZIONE CANALE
L’unitá a distanza utilizza due batterie formato UM-4 o “AAA”.
Installazione:
1. Togliete il coperchio esterno del vano batterie
2. Togliete le viti interne e aprite lo sportello trasparente del vano.
3. Selezionate il numero del canale sul selettore CHANNEL
4. Selezionate l’impostazione prescelta in °C /°F
5. Inserite le batterie rispettando rispettando l’indicazione di
polaritá mostrata)
6. Riposizionate lo sportello del vano batterie e riavvitate.

Quando l’apparecchio si trova entro quel raggio il suo meccanismo
di radio-controllo prevale su qualsiasi impostazione manuale.
Se l’apparecchio sta ricevendo il segnale radio, l’indicatore RADIO
RECEPTION comincerá a lampeggiare. Una ricezione completa
impiega da due a 10 minuti, a secondo della forza del segnale.
A ricezione avvenuta, il segnale RADIO RECEPTION smetterá di
lampeggiare. La forza della ricezione verrá indicata per un’ora
intera.
Per una migliore ricezione, posizionate l’orologio lontano da
oggetti
metallici e da elettrodomestici, in modo da minimizzare le
interferenze.
Se invece intendete disattivare il controllo basato sulla RF, premete
i pulsanti MODE e DOWN (-) simultaneamente.
Per riattivare il controllo basato sulla RF, premete i pulsanti MODE
e UP (+) simultaneamente.
INSERIMENTO BATTERIE:
UNITA’ PRINCIPALE
1. Sollevate delicatamente lo sportello del vano batterie.
2. Inserite quattro batterie alcaline formato UM-3 o “AA”.
3. Riposizionate lo sportello del vano batterie.
Nota: Quando sono scariche sostituite le batterie sia nel sensore a
distanza che nell’unitá principale. L’indicatore di batterie in
esaurimento [ ] si illuminerá nella finestra che mostra le
temperature esterne quando le batterie stanno per esaurirsi.
A PROPOSITO DELLA RICEZIONE
RADIO
Il modello BAR 913 é stato progettato in modo tale che la
sincronizzazione dell’orologio e del calendario avvenga
automaticamente quando l’apparecchio si trova entro il raggio
del segnale radio di Francoforte DCF 77. Questo aggiustamento

3. Impostazione dell’ora
Premete il pulsante MODE, le ore verranno visualizzate. Usate i
pulsanti UP (+) and DOWN (-) per impostare l’ora. Tenendo
premuti i pulsanti lo scorrimento viene reso piú veloce. Premete
il pulsante MODE nuovamente per impostare i minuti. Come
prima, tenete premuti i pulsanti UP (+) and DOWN (-) per far
scorrere velocemente l’orologio.
Nota: Ogni volta che l’impostazione dell’orologio viene
modificata i secondi iniziano da zero.
4. Impostazione del calendario
Procedura per l’inserimento:
Premete il pulsante MODE, il calendario verrá visualizzato e le
cifre relative all’anno cominceranno a lampeggiare. Usate i
pulsanti UP (+) and DOWN (-) per impostare l’anno.
PremeteilpulsanteMODE,lecifrerelativealmesecominceranno
a lampeggiare. Usate i pulsanti UP (+) and DOWN (-) per
impostare il mese.
Premete il pulsante MODE, le cifre relative al giorno
comincerannoa lampeggiare.Usatei pulsanti UP(+)andDOWN

Premete nuovamente il pulsante MODE. I simboli relativi al
giorno (D) e al mese (M) lampeggeranno. L’apparecchio vi
consente di scegliere se indicare prima il giorno o prima il mese.
Usando i pulsanti UP(+) and DOWN (-) selezionate il calendario
nell’ordine Giorno/Mese o Mese/Giorno.
COME USARE LA

Premeteunavoltalabarra SNOOZE/LIGHT.Laretroilluminazione
entrerá in funzione per cinque secondi.
COME IMPOSTARE MANUALMENTE
L’OROLOGIO
1. Impostazione del display dell’orologio (12/24 ore)
Premete ilpulsante MODE e tenetelo premuto per tre secondi. La
modalitá 12 ore vi apparirá. Usate i pulsanti UP (+) and DOWN
(-) per scegliere la modalitá desiderata, 12 o 24 ore.
2. Impostazione dei giorni della settimana in varie lingue
I giorni della settimana possono essere espressi sotto forma
abbreviata in cinque diverse lingue. Le lingue e le abbreviazioni
relative ad ogni lingua sono mostrate nella tabella seguente.
