Thewoodinbuilt’szeroclearancekit’scertificationlabel(M),isincludedinthekit.Youmustaffixit
tothemarkedposition;inside,towardsthefrontoftherighthandsidepanel(seeDetailA).

Toaccessthecertificationlabels,thefaceplateand/orwoodinbuiltmayneedtoberemoved.
Therefore,werecommendthatyounoteboth,(thewoodinbuilt’szeroclearancekitandMatrix
woodinbuilt’s)serialnumberonthismanual,sinceitwillbeneededtopreciselyidentifythe
versionoftheapplianceintheeventyourequirereplacementpartsortechnicalassistance.
Oncetheinstallationisperformed(seeSection5)andthezeroclearancekitisenclosedinthe
frame,insertthewoodinbuiltinsidethezeroclearancekit.

tobealignedwiththezeroclearancekit’sflue.

Insertthegrommet(N)onthefan’spowercord(O).Slidethegrommetontotheopeningonthe
baseofthezeroclearancekit(seedetailB).FromoutsidetheZCkitpushthegrommetinthehole
untilit“clips”(seedetailB).


5INSTALLATION
Theclearancesshowninthissectionhavebeendeterminedbytestaccordingtoproceduresset
outinsafetystandardsAS/NZS2918:2001.WhenthewoodinbuiltinsideitsMatrixzeroclearances
kitisinstalledsothatitssurfacesareatorbeyondtheminimumclearancesspecified,combustible
surfaceswillnotoverheatundernormalandevenabnormaltestingprotocolconditions.
Nopartofthewoodinbuiltmaybelocatedclosertoheat‐sensitivematerialsthantheminimum
clearancesinfiguresgiven.
5.1 POSITIONINGTHEUNIT
Priortodeterminingwhereyouaregoingtoinstalltheunit,verifythatthefluecasingcanpass
throughceilingspacewithoutrequiringtheremovalofessentialrooforceilingsupportbeam.
Also,consulttheclearancesinthissectiontoensurethatyourespectthedistancetoheat‐
sensitivematerialsineverycases.
Onceyouhavedeterminedasuitablespotfortheappliance,cutasquareholethroughtheceiling
makingsurethatitiscenteredwiththeflueoftheunitusingaplumbline(seeSection1for
dimensions).
5.1.1 FRAMING
Theconstructionoftheframing,facing,andmantelmustbeinaccordancewiththestandardsand
thefollowingillustrations:
A. Framethewoodinbuiltinsidethezeroclearanceskitusing5cmx8cm(2"×3")orheavier
lumber.

ABOVETHEWOODINBUILTANDITSZEROCLEARANCESKIT,EXCEPTFORTHESTUDSABOVETHE
FACINGTHATSUPPORTTHEFACINGMATERIALANDMANTEL.THISAREAMUSTREMAINEMPTY
UPTOTHECEILING.THEFIRSTINTERNALWALLSTUDSHALLBENOCLOSERTHAN150MMTO
THEAPPLIANCEANDNOCLOSERTHAN80MMTOTHEAPPLIANCEFLUEOUTERCASING.
B. Buildtheframeforthezeroclearanceskitwithverticalstudsatthesidesrunningfromfloorto
ceiling(seeFigure5.1.1).Positionthestud’sbackfromthefrontedgeofthewoodinbuilt
insidethezeroclearanceskit,aspacethethicknessofthefacingmaterialsothatthefacingcan
beinstalledflushwiththewoodinbuiltinsidethezeroclearanceskitfacing(withinlimitations
ofFigures5.1.4(a)).Frameheadersbetweentheverticalstudsonlyasfollows:
Place45mmx90mmheaders,onlyalongtheupperpartofthefront,sideandbackfaces.
Donotputwoodoranycombustiblematerialwithintheareaabovethewoodinbuiltinside
thezeroclearanceskitexceptonthefrontfacing.
Placeheadersonlyasrequiredtosupportthefacingandmantel.

Iftheunitisinstalledonaheatsensitivefloor,constructaninsulatingfloorprotectorthatwill
covertheareaundertheZCkitandthatwillprojecttothefrontoftheinbuilt.Thestandard
insulatingfloorismadeoftwolayersof12mmcementsheet,butitcanbemadeofanyother
similarmaterialaslongasithasathermalresistivityof0,8m²*K/Wper4mmthickandthatthe
totalthicknessofmaterialis24mmormore.Thefloorprotectionshouldbeatleast1070mm
deep(J)x945mmwide(D)tothefrontoftheinbuilt.Theprotectioninfrontoftheappliance(E)
shouldalwaysbeatleast500mm(seeFigures5.1.4(a)&5.1.4(c).
