FRONT AND END FACE ASSEMBLY
REMOVAL AND REINSTALLATION
DIRECT VENT AND B-VENT GAS FIREPLACES
DANGER
HOT GLASS WILL CAUSE BURNS.
DO NOT TOUCH GLASS UNTIL COOLED.
NEVER ALLOW CHILDREN TO TOUCH GLASS.
• Install only when fireplace is OFF and COLD.
• Fireplace surfaces get EXTREMELY HOT!
• The glass on the front of the fireplace reaches EXTREMELY HIGH
temperatures and can cause severe burns if touched. Even after
the gas is turned off, fireplace surfaces remain extremely hot.
NOTE: The barrier contained herein is designed to reduce the risk
of burns from the hot viewing glass and shall be installed for the
protection of children and other at-risk individuals.
FRONT AND END FACE ASSEMBLY WITH BARRIER
REMOVAL AND REINSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

All barriers are designed to reduce the risk of injury from contact with
hot glass. See warnings in the Installation and Care and Operations
manual (IICO) for fireplaces which require a barrier.
REMOVING THE FRONT FACE OR END ASSEMBLY FOR CLEANING OR
OTHER MAINTENANCE
Do not remove rthe front face or end assembly unless the fireplace is
off and the appliance is cool. All front face and end assemblies with
barriers must be in place when the fireplace is in use.
In fireplaces with front face or end assemblies (see Figure 1), remove
the assembly in the following manner:
Remove the front face or end assembly by lifting top and bottom
evenly approximately 1/2” and pulling straight out from the unit once
the brackets are disengaged.
NOTE: Front face or end assembly with barrier must be reinstalled
prior to operation.
NOTE: If the barrier becomes damaged, the barrier
must be replaced with the manufacturer’s barrier
for the appliance. See barrier identification label
on barrier.

Reinstall the front face or end assembly in the following manner.
1. Hold the assembly with its brackets approximately 1/2” from and
1/2” above the slots in the face of the fireplace
2. Move the assembly into place with assembly brackets directly above
the fireplace slots by pressing the assembly against the unit
3. Push the assembly down over the slots, engaging them and holding
the assembly in place

INSTALLING A NEW MANUFACTURER’S BARRIER
A barrier should never be removed except for the replacement of a
damaged barrier. The barrier and assembly must be replaced before
using the appliance. After removing the front face or end assembly,
remove the barrier in the following manner.
1. Facing the back side of the front face or end assembly, lift up on the
barrier and swing the bottom of the barrier out
2. Remove the barrier
Install a new, manufacturer’s replacement barrier in the following man-
ner:
1. With the barrier identification label facing you and positioned at the
bottom, push the barrier up, inside the top of the assembly
2. Swing the barrier in at the bottom until it rests on the barrier shelf
(see Figure 3)
NOTE: Front face or end assembly with barrier must be reinstalled
prior to operation.
Reinstall the front face or end assembly in the following manner.
1. Hold the assembly approximately 1/2” from and 1/2” above the slots
in the face of the unit
2. Move the assembly brackets into place directly above the fireplace
slots by pressing the assembly
3. Push the assembly brackets down over the fireplace slots, engaging
them and holding the assembly in place
