Chapter 1 Product Overview
HSC5831 is a high quality video converter, the signal of HDMI or DVI can be
converted to HD/SD-SDI with high quality. It is mainly applied to the broadcast
system, high-speed railway, distance transmission of the military signals, and
other fields which require high definitions.

Features
High standard SDI output and accurate audio embedding can
guarantee that the signals meet the broadcast requirements
Compatible with DVI/HDMI format
Standard audio sampling rate conversion, 48K sampling rate can
achieve phase lock strictly
Supports HDMI audio and external audio can be embedded to SDI
signal, the embedded channel can be selected
Supports multiple video formats: 3G, HD and SD etc.

Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not
cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference
received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a
Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are
designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a
residential installation. This equipment generates uses and can radiate radio
frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the
instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications.
However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular
installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or
television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and
on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of
the following measures:
Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which
the receiver is connected.
Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

Warnings:

Converter
Upgrading of the converter or its accessories are subject to change
without notice.
Position
Do not block any ventilation openings.
Do not use this unit near water.
Do not expose the unit to rain or moisture.
Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers,
stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that product heat.
A nameplate indicating operating voltage, etc., is located on the rear
panel.
The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be
easily accessible.

Power Cord with Adpter
Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type
plug.
Do not damage the power cord, place the heavy objects on the power
cord, stretch the power cord, or bend the power cord.
Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at
plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the
unit.
If the power cord is damaged, turn off the power immediately. It is
dangerous to use the unit with a damaged power cord. It may cause
fire or electric shock.
Unplug this apparatus during lighting storms or when unused for long
periods of time.
Disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet by grasping the plug, not
by pulling the cord.
Should any solid object or liquid fall into the cabinet, unplug the unit
and have it checked by qualified personnel before operating it any
further.

Chapter 3 Unpack and Installation
Unpack:
When unpacking the components of HSC5831 converter, please verify that
none of the components listed in Table 3.1 are damaged or lack. If there is any
missing, contact your distributors or OSEE for it.

Installation:
1. Prepare for installation
Make sure you have prepared the followings before mount the
HSC5831converter:
Inspect for any apparent physical damage that may have occurred in
transit.
Make sure you have received all the components listed in packing list.
if there are any anti-static package or other packages, please take off
them.
Keep the package in case of future usage.

2. As shown in Figure 3-1, connect required cables for signal inputs and
outputs.

3. Provide a 12V/2A DC power supply.
4. Connect the power supply to the power interface.
5. Screw the protection parts for power supply.
6. Finally, turn on the power switch, so that the device will be ready for
work.

Chapter 4 Parameter Settings
This chapter will introduce how to set the parameters of the converter in
Internet Explorer.
Open the Internet Explorer window firstly, and input 192.168.1.200 in the
address bar, then, press Enter key, the management interface of HDMI-SDI
converter is shown as in Figure 4-1:

Use a twisted-pair cable to connect the network interface of a computer
with the network interface of the converter before electrify the converter.
The IP address of the computer and the converter must be in the same
network segment, for example: as shown in Figure4-2, the IP address of
the converter is 192.168.1.200, so the IP address of the computer is
192.168.1.2 and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
The Default button is used to reset the default settings to the product
originals.

You can check or modify the parameters in this management interface, the
following will introduce these operations.
4.1 Management Interface
Open the management interface as shown in Figure 4.1-1:

As shown in Figure 4.1-1, the management interface is divided into two parts:
1. Navigation menu list: it shows the navigation menus: Status,
Parameters and System. Click the navigation menu, it will show the
corresponding settings on the right side.
2. Parameter list: it shows the parameter names, values and operation
buttons of the selected navigation menu, as shown in the red rectangle in
Figure 4.1-2. The title in the yellow rectangle of the parameter list and the
parameter list will change with the navigation menu when switched.

The SET button is used to confirm the modification of the parameter value.
The Default button is used to reset the default settings to the product
originals.

4.1.1 STATUS Menu
Click the Status button to show the STATUS menu as shown in Figure 4.1-3, it
contains Hdmi input format, Hardware version and Software version.

The contents of Status menu can’t be operated, but just to display the
device information depending on the actual device.
4.1.2 Parameters Menu
Click the Parameters button to show the Parameters menu as shown in Figure
4.1-4, it shows the parameters corresponding with the converting operations.

Analog audio gain
Analog audio signal is prior to HDMI embedded audio signal. It means that
when you have selected “HDMI:1,2; NONE:3,4”for Audio input, then you
plug an analog audio signal in, the Audio input will change to
“ANALOG:1,2; NONE:3,4”automatically, and the Audio input will change
back to “HDMI:1,2; NONE:3,4”after you plug the analog audio signal out.
4.1.3 System Menu
Click the System button to show the System menu as shown in Figure 4.1-5, it
shows the parameters corresponding with the system settings.
