rate.Whenitcomestoemergencyparachutes,fastopeningtimes,excellentpendulumstabilityandlowsink
rate performance are the necessary ingredients for safe landings in emergency situations. The Angel SQ is
effectiveinminimumheight/lowenergysituations,bothofwhicharecommoninparagliding.
OurdevelopmentteamisbasedinthesouthofFrance.Thisarea,whichincludesthesitesofGourdon,Monaco
andColdeBleyne,guaranteesusmorethan300yabledaysperyear.Thisisagreatassetinthedevelopment

Everyone needs an Angel… Representing the latest in lightweight square parachute design technology, the
AngelSQisaparachuteyoucanrelyon.
Modernsquarerescue parachute designshaveproven time and againtooffer signicantly betterpendulum
stabilityandsinkrate performance than traditionalroundparachutes,whilst retaining the fastopeningtimes
thatarecriticalforsafety.
TheAngelSQ has a relativelylargesurfacearea, yet is verylightinweight, giving exceptional sinkrateand
stabilityperformancewithfastopeningtimes.Thelargesurfaceareaensuresanexcellentsinkrate,allsizesof
theAngelSQprovideplentyofmarginwithintheweightrangestheyarecertiedtocarry.Intermsofparachute
performancehowever, pendulum stabilityis equally, if notmore important thansink rate performancealone
andtheAngelSQexcelsinthisdepartment.Duringthedevelopmentprocess,whichincludedmany real life
testdeployments,theAngelSQ’slowsinkrateandhighpendulumstabilitycombinedforconsistent,safeand
comfortabledescents.
The Angel SQ uses premium quality parachute materials, Porcher PN9 and Cousin Dyneema lines. These
materialshavebeenchosenfortheiroptimumbalanceofdurability,performance,minimalpackingvolumesand
lowweighttoensurereliable,safedeployments,eveninthemostextremesituations.
Certied EN and LTF to the EN 12491 and LTF 91/09 standards, the Angel SQ is available in 4 sizes with
maximumloadsfrom100kgsto220kgs.Thereare2bridleoptions:Theshortbridleversionforharnesseswith
integratedbridlesandtheYbridleversionforharnesseswithnobuiltinbridles.
TheAngelSQhasbeensolelydesignedforuseasanemergencyrescuesystemforparagliders.Donotunder
anycircumstancesusethisparachuteforfreefallparachuting,BASEjumpingorwithanyothertypeofaircraft.
TheAngelSQisnotsuitableforspeedsinexcessof32m/sor115kmh.

TheAngelSQisavailablewith2bridleoptions:ShortbridleorYbridle.
Theshortbridleoptionisforharnessesthatalreadyhavereservebridlesinplace.Attachtheparachutebridle
totheharnessbridlesusingaMaillonRapide7mmscrewgatemaillonorsimilar.
The long Y bridle option is for harnesses that do not have bridles already installed. The attachment points
shouldbeattachedtotheshoulderconnectionpointsusing2x6mmscrewgatestainlesssteelmaillons(onefor
eachside)alongwithrubberbandsortapetosecurethebridlesneatly.
YoumustNOTattachalongYbridletoanyexistingharnessbridles.Ifyourharnessalreadyhasbridlesattached
totheshoulderhangpoints,youMUSTusetheshortbridleoption.OnlyattachtheYbridletotheloopslocated
ontopoftheshoulderstrapswhichhavebeenspecicallydesignedformountingtherescuesystem.
Maillonsmustbeclosedtightly-ngertightthen1/2aturnwithpliersissufcient.Donotovertighten.
Attachthereservehandletooneoftheloopsonthedeploymentbagusingasmallmaillonoralarksfootknot.
Pleaserefertoyourharnessmanualtoensurethecorrectorientation.
TheAngelSQisnowreadytobeinstalledintothedeploymentsystemofyourharness.Fordetailedinstructions

IMPORTANT:

Yourparachuteshouldberepacked every 6 months,preferablybyaqualiedprofessionaltoensurebestoperation
andtogiveyoupeaceofmind.Whenremovingtheparachutefromtheharnesstaketheopportunitytocomplete
apracticedeployment.Checkthatyoucanreachyourhandleeasilyandthattheparachutecanexittheharness
smoothly,freeofanyresistance,Certicationrequiresaneffortoflessthan7kgs.
Beforerepackingtheparachuteshouldhaveathoroughvisualcheckofthecloth,linesandbridles.Donotusea
parachutewithanysignofvisibledamage.Theparachutemustbecompletelydryandfreeofdirt,dustoranyother
contaminates.
Packing Procedure
Completelyunfurltheparachute,ideallyitshouldbehungovernighttoreleasethefoldsandtoairthematerial.
Toeasethepackingprocessitisbesttoworkwithanassistantandhavethefollowingpiecesofequipment:
Weightssuchassandbags;Linespacers;Carabiners;Spareelasticbands.
Laytheparachuteonapackingtableorontheground.Makesurethesurfaceiscleananddry.
Ifyouareintheunfortunatesituationofneedingtothrowyourreserve,dosowithconviction:
Look;Reach;Pull;Throw.
Lookatthehandle,grabitandpullouttheretainingpinswithsufcientforce.
Pulloutthe deployment bag.Youneed to adapttheway you pull yourparachute depending on thedesignof your
harness’sdeploymentsystem.e.g.underseatpositioningoftenrequiresanactiontotheoutsidesothattheparachute
extracts sideways from the pocket, pulling the handle upwards will not allow the parachute to release. Know your
equipmentandadaptyourtechniqueaccordingly.
Throwtheparachuteawayfromyouashardasyoucanintoclearspace,nottowardsyourwing.Itisimportantatthis
stagetoremembertoLETGOofthehandle.Aimtothrowwiththedirectionofairowtoaidafastopeningandagainst
thedirectionofrotation.
Ifafter throwing theparachutedoes not deploy(possible in lowenergyemergencies e.g. parachutalstall), grab the
reservebridleandgiveitastrongpull.Thiswillhelpencouragetheparachutetoopenfaster.
Asthe parachutedeploys,thenextstageistoconcentrateondisablingtheparaglider.Thereareseveralwaystodo
this–Blinestall;rearriserstall;gatheringthecanopybyworkinguptheAlinesuntilyouhavethematerialinyourhands
orusingthebrakestostallthewing.Thebesttechniquedependsentirelyonthesituation.Themostimportantthing
torememberistocompletelydisablethewingsothatitdoesnotactagainsttheparachuteandcauseadown-plane.
Whichevermethodyouchoosedososymmetrically,youdonotwanttheparaglidertostartrotating,thiscouldcause
theparaglidertoyintoandeffectivelydisabletheparachute.
Due to the position of the reserve bridle hang points on most harness, deploying the reserve parachute tends to
automaticallyputyouintothePLFposition(legsdown),ifyouarenot,doeverythingyoucantogetyourselfintothis
positionsoyoucanabsorbthelandingimpactwithyourlegs.
AlwaysuseaPLFwhenlandingunderemergencysituationsorunderarescueparachute.
(Optional).Using a suitable line,route it throughthepacking loops found
2/3rdsofthewayupthepanels.
Securethepackinglinetosomethingrigid,attheotherendsecure
thebridletosomethingrigidpullingtensionthroughtheparachute
cloth and lines. The ‘apex’ should now be pulled through the
centreoftheparachutesothattheApexlinesaretensioned

Ensurethatthelinesarefreeoftwistsandtangles-startat
thebridleandworktowardstheparachutekeepingthe‘apex’
lines central and the lines either side separated. Double
check that none of the lines are twisted around the ‘apex’
linesoreachother
Nowsortthepanelsintoorder.TheAngelSQhas12*panels
per side clearly numbered on the skirt. Fold each panel
overto onesidekeepingthe lineattachmentpointsneatly
togetherattheskirtendandtensionthroughthecloth.
Now neatly organise panels 1 and 12, maintain
tension so that all folds are neat. Panels 1-12
shouldbeorganisedtooneside.
Once panels 12 -1 of one side are neatly arranged, it is
advisedtouseweights to keep theminpositionwhilstyou
repeat the process for the other side. Fold the remaining
panelsontopofthecompletedside.

The parachute should look as shown with the corner
ventofpanel12*inthemiddleandontop.Thecorner
ventofpanel1shouldbeinthemiddleunderneath.
Atthisstage,againdoublecheckthe lines are free of
twistsand run cleanly eitherside of the apexlines all
thewaytothebridle.
Nowfoldtherighthandsideunderneathusing‘S’foldstothe
widthofthedeploymentbag.
‘S’foldthelefthandside,thistimeontopoftheexistingfolds
tothewidthofthedeploymentbag.
Nowarrangethelineskeepingthemneatandundertension.
Usegure of 8foldsand elastic bandsaroundthe loops to
arrangethelinesneatly. The gureof8sshouldbemadeto
thesamewidthasthedeploymentbag.Leaveapproximately
0.5moflinefreeattheendbeforethebridle.
Now repeat the above process, this time in the
opposite direction. Panels 1 -12 should be folded
neatlyontopofeachothertothelefthandsidewith
thelinesgroupedneatlyandfreeoftwistsasbefore.

YourAngelSQisrelativelymaintenance-free,howeverthereareseveralpracticesthatneedtobeadheredto:
•KeepyourparachutefreefromexposuretoUV,moisture,dirt,dust,chemicalsoranyothercontaminates.
•Alwaysstoreallofyouryingequipmentinacooldryroomandprotectitfromdirectheatsuchasradiators
orsunlight.
•Moisture,heatandhumidityaretheworstelementsfordamagingyourparachute.
•Your Angel SQ shouldbe re-packed, preferablybya qualied packerevery6 months. Themore often the
reserveisrepackedthebetterthechancesofitopeningquickly.
• Line lengths should be checked annually by a qualied checker, or after anytime the parachute has been
exposedtoexcessivemoistureorhasbecomewetafterawaterlanding.
•Ifyoulandinsaltwater,youmustimmediatelyrinsetheparachuteandlinesthoroughlywithfreshwaterbefore
itisallowed to dry.Itis of vitalimportanceto remove all tracesof salt before dryingotherwisepermanent
damagemayoccur.Itmaytakeseveralrinsestocompletelyremovealltracesofsalt.Ifthereareanyvisible
signsofdamagetotheclothorevidenceofsaltcrystals,theparachuteshouldbedeemedun-airworthyand
withdrawnfromservice.
•Completelyairdryyourparachuteoutofsunlightorothersourcesofdirectheat.Failuretodosocanresultin
unevendryingofclothandlines.Yourparachutemustbeabsolutelydrybeforerepacking.
•TheParachuteshouldbedecommissionedafter10years,evenifithasneverbeenthrown.
•The Angel SQ should be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. Do not dispose with normal
householdwaste.
Place the deployment bag under the skirt and fold the
parachuteinanaccordionfashiontothesizeandshapeof
thedeploymentbag.
Closethedeploymentbagaroundtheparachute,neatenthe
edgestoensurethattheparachuteiscontainedcompletely
within.Usetheremainingfreelinetosecurethemainloop
ofthedeploymentbag.
IMPORTANT: Before closing the pod, make sure the packing
line has been completely removed!
WARNING: After a salt water landing, if there are any visible signs of damage to the cloth or
evidence of salt crystals, the parachute should be deemed un-airworthy and withdrawn from service.
WARNING: The Parachute should be decommissioned after 10 years from the date of purchase even if
it has never been thrown.
If you used a packing line, now completely remove it from the loops.
Failure to do so will most certainly result in a deployment malfunction.
