SAFETY INFORMATION
1. Please read these instructions carefully.
2. Keep all information and instructions in a safe place.
3. Follow the instructions.

5. Only use the device as intended.
6. Ensure that the cables to be measured are not live.
7. The device is to be protected from soiling, dust, damp and anything else that
might impair or damage it in terms of function and safety. Ensure that the device
is standing securely and cannot fall down.
8. When using the device, be sure to observe the safety regulations applicable in
your country.
9. Do not install or operate the device near radiators, heat storage units, ovens or
other sources of heat.
10. Make sure that no drip or splash water can get into the device.
11. Only operate the device using the accessories recommended and provided by the
manufacturer.
12. Do not open the device or make alterations. There are no parts inside the device
which can be repaired or serviced by the user.
13. During transport, take care to ensure that the device cannot fall down and poten-
tially cause damage or bodily injury.
14. If your device no longer functions properly, if liquids or objects get inside it or if it
has been damaged in any other way, switch it off immediately.
15. This device may only be repaired by authorised specialists.
16. Use a dry cloth to clean the device.
17. Observe the disposal regulations applicable in your country. Please separate
plastic from paper and cardboard when disposing of the packaging.

INTRODUCTION
The multifunctional Palmer AHMCTXLV2 cable tester can be used to test a wide range of
different cables, plugs and raw cables.
In order to carry out a test, connect the cable in question to the relevant tester sockets.
The following test options are available:
- 3.5mm jack (TRS)
- 6.35mm jack (TRS)
- RCA
- XLR 3-pin
- XLR 5-pin
- Speakon 4-pin
- Speakon 8-pin
- USB-A to USB-B
- S-Video
- RJ45 (CAT)
- MIDI
- Banana
Using the measuring cables included it is also possible to carry out a quick, efficient continuity
check on individual wires.
SET-UP
INSERTING THE BATTERY
Turn the device over and open the battery compartment by removing the two finger screws.
Insert two AA batteries taking care to ensure the correct polarity as indicated. Now close the
battery compartment again.
Remove the batteries if the device is not going be used for some time.
CHECKING BATTERY CAPACITY
Set the slider switch to the ON position. The first red LED in the LED chain lights up. If this
LED shines brightly, the batteries are OK. If the LED light only shines faintly, the batteries are
nearly flat and should be replaced as soon as possible.

ON AND AUTO MODES
THE AHMCTXLV2 OFFERS TWO OPERATING MODES:
ON (manual mode): The individual contact connections can be specifically selected by
pressing the left/right buttons.
AUTO: In this mode, all connections are run through automatically in order.
CARRYING OUT A TEST
How to test a balanced standard 3-pin XLR cable:
In this cable type, the contacts are connected one-to-one at each end of the cable.
Connect the two cable plugs to the cable tester and move the switch into the ON position.
If the cable is OK, both the red and the green LEDs light up.This means that there is a con-
nection between Pin 1 at one end of the XLR cable and Pin 1 at the other end.
Now press the right-hand button to test Positions 2 and 3. Here again, the red and green
LEDs should light up accordingly. There are several ways of identifying a defective cable.
If for example the connection is interrupted at Pin 1 of the XLR cable, only one of the two
LEDs will light in Position 1. In the event of a short circuit between several pins, the first LED
in one of the two rows will light up at the same time as the second or third LED (or both) in
the other row.
It is also possible to test cables with different plugs, e.g. an XLR and a 6.35mm TRS jack
plug. To do so, simply connect one end of the cable to the left-hand side of the cable tester
and the other to the right-hand side. Then use the left/right-hand buttons to run through the
test positions and check the individual connections.
In order to be able to interpret the test results correctly, you must of course know which
pins are supposed to be connected to each other.
The figure on the next page shows a wide range of different balanced and unbalanced
cables with the relevant connections.
Once the measurement operation is complete, return the switch to the OFF position.
Note: In order to save the batteries, the device switches off automatically after 180 seconds
of not being used.

EINFÜHRUNG
Mit dem multifunktionalen Kabeltester AHMCTXLV2 von Palmer lassen sich eine Vielzahl
unterschiedlicher Kabel, Stecker sowie unkonfektionierte Leitungen überprüfen.
Um einen Test durch zu führen verbinden Sie ihr zu prüfendes Kabel mit den entsprechenden
Buchsen des Prüfgerätes.
Es stehen Ihnen folgende Prüfoptionen zur Verfügung:
- 3,5mm Klinke (TRS)
- 6,35mm Klinke (TRS)
- Cinch (RCA)
-XLR 3-polig
-XLR 5-polig
- Speakon 4-polig
- Speakon 8-polig
- USB-A auf USB-B
- S-Video
- RJ45 (CAT)

Mit den beiliegenden Messkabeln lassen sich zudem einzelne Adern schnell und effizient auf
Durchgängigkeit prüfen.
INBETRIEBNAHME
EINSETZEN DER BATTERIE
Drehen Sie das Gerät um und öffnen Sie das Batteriefach durch das Entfernen der beiden
Rendelschrauben. Setzen Sie zwei AA-Batterien ein, achten sie dabei auf die richtige Polarität
gemäß Kennzeichung. Verschließen Sie nun wieder das Batteriefach.
Wird das Gerät längere Zeit nicht verwendet sind die Batterien dem Gerät zu entnehmen.
PRÜFEN DER BATTERIEKAPAZITÄT
Setzen Sie den Schiebeschalter auf die Position “ON”. Die erste rote LED der LED-Kette leuchtet.
Wenn diese LED kräftig leuchtet, sind die Batterien in Ordnung. Falls die LED nur noch schwach
leuchtet, sind die Batterien fast leer und sollten schnellstmöglich ausgetauscht werden.

DIE BETRIEBSMODI „ON“ UND „AUTO“
DER AHMCTXLV2 BIETET ZWEI BETRIEBSMODI:
ON (Manueller Modus): Durch das Drücken der Links/Rechts-Tasten lassen sich die einzelnen
Kontaktverbindungen gezielt anwählen.
AUTO: In diesem Modus werden automatisch sämtliche Verbindungen der Reihe nach durchlaufen.
TESTABLAUF
So testen Sie ein symmetrisches Standard-XLR 3 pol-Kabel:
Bei diesem Typ Kabel sind die Kontakte an den beiden Kabelenden eins zu eins miteinander
verbunden.
Schließen Sie die beiden Stecker des Kabels am Kabeltester an und bringen Sie den Strom-
schalter in die Position „ON“. Wenn das Kabel in Ordnung ist, leuchten sowohl die roten als
auch die grünen LEDs. Das bedeutet, dass eine Verbindung zwischen Pin 1 auf der einen
Seite des XLR-Kabels und Pin 1 auf der anderen Seite besteht.
Drücken Sie nun die Rechts-Taste, um auch die Positionen 2 und 3 zu prüfen. Die entsprechenden
roten und grünen LEDs sollten ebenfalls leuchten. Es gibt mehrere Möglichkeiten, ein defektes
Kabel zu erkennen. Wenn beispielsweise die Verbindung an Pin 1 des XLR-Kabels unterbrochen ist,
leuchtet nur eine der beiden LEDs an Position 1. Im Fall eines Kurzschlusses zwischen mehreren
Pins leuchtet die erste LED in einer der beiden Reihen und gleichzeitig die zweite oder dritte LED
(bzw. beide) in der jeweils anderen Reihe.
Es lassen sich auch Kabel mit zwei unterschiedlichen Steckern, z.B. einem XLR- und einem
6,35mm TRS-Klinkenstecker testen. Schließen Sie dazu einfach das eine Kabelende auf
der linken und das andere auf der rechten Seite des Kabeltesters an. Schalten Sie dann
mit den Links/Rechts-Tasten durch die Test-Positionen und überprüfen Sie die einzelnen
Verbindungen.
Um die Testergebnisse richtig interpretieren zu können, müssen Sie natürlich wissen,
welche Pins miteinander verbunden sein müssen.
In der Abbildung auf der nächsten Seite sind verschiedenste symmetrische und unsymmetrische
Kabel mit den zugehörigen Verbindungen dargestellt.
Ist der Messvorgang beendet bringen sie den Schalter wieder in die Position “OFF”.
Hinweis: Zur Schonung der Batterie schaltet sich bei Nichtbenutzung das Gerät nach 180 Sek.
selbstständig ab.

variété de connecteurs et de câbles confectionnés ou non.
Pour effectuer un test, raccordez le câble que vous souhaitez contrôler aux prises correspondantes
du testeur.

Les câbles de mesure fournis permettent en outre de contrôler rapidement et de façon efficace la
continuité de chaque fil.
MISE EN MARCHE
MISE EN PLACE DES PILES:
Retournez l'appareil et ouvrez le compartiment à piles en ôtant les deux vis moletées. Insérez
les deux pilesAA en veillant à respecter la polarité (voir marquage). Refermez le compartiment
à piles.
Si l'appareil n'est pas utilisé pendant une longue période, les piles doivent être ôtées de
l'appareil.
CONTRÔLE DU NIVEAU DE CHARGE DES PILES
Positionnez l'interrupteur à coulisse sur «ON». La première LED rouge de la rangée de LED
s'allume. Si cette LED génère une lumière intense, les piles sont en bon état de marche. Si la
lueur de la LED est faible, les piles sont presque déchargées et doivent être remplacées au plus
vite.

MODES DE FONCTIONNEMENT «ON» ET «AUTO»
LE AHMCTXLV2 INTÈGRE DEUX MODES DE FONCTIONNEMENT:
ON (mode manuel): Les flèches vers la gauche/droite permettent de sélectionner précisément
les différentes connexions.
AUTO(mode automatique): Ce mode permet de parcourir automatiquement toutes les connexions,
l'une après l'autre.
DÉROULEMENT D'UN TEST
Pour tester un câble XLR standard symétrique à 3broches, veuillez procéder comme suit:
Avec ce type de câble, les contacts situés aux deux extrémités du câble sont respectivement
connectés les uns aux autres.
Raccordez les deux connecteurs du câble au testeur de câbles et positionnez l'interrupteur
sur «ON». Si le câble est en bon état, les LED rouges et vertes s'allument. Cela signifie
qu'une connexion est établie entre la broche1 de l'une des extrémités du câble XLR et la
broche1 de l'autre extrémité.
Appuyez ensuite sur la flèche vers la droite pour vérifier aussi les positions2 et3. Les LED rouges
et vertes correspondantes devraient également s'allumer. Plusieurs cas de figure permettent de dé-
tecter un câble défectueux. Par exemple, si la connexion est interrompue au niveau de la broche1
du câble XLR, une LED sur deux seulement s'allume en position1. En cas de court-circuit entre
plusieurs broches, la première LED de l'une des deux rangées s'allume, de même que la deuxième
ou troisième LED (ou les deux) de l'autre rangée.
Il est également possible de tester des câbles dotés de deux connecteurs différents, par ex.
un connecteur XLR et un connecteur jack TRS de 6,35mm. Il suffit de raccorder l'une des
extrémités du câble sur le côté gauche du testeur de câbles et l'autre extrémité sur le côté
droit. Parcourez ensuite les positions de test à l'aide des flèches vers la gauche/droite et
contrôlez les différentes connexions.
Pour être en mesure d'interpréter correctement les résultats du test, vous devez bien
entendu savoir quelles broches doivent être connectées entre elles.
L'illustration de la page suivante représente divers câbles symétriques et asymétriques et leurs
raccordements respectifs.
Une fois le processus de contrôle terminé, repositionnez l'interrupteur sur «OFF».
Remarque: Afin de préserver les piles, l'appareil s'éteint automatiquement au bout de 180s
lorsqu'il n'est pas utilisé.
