Studio SDI Card
This product consists of an SD card and an interface
bracket.

Contents
Overview
nstalling the SD card in a convertible camera (such
as the AW-E300, AW-E600, AW-E800A) and
mounting the camera on the interface bracket makes
it possible for a viewfinder and/or inter-
communications headset to be used and thus enable
the camera to be used as a studio camera.
t is also possible to output SD signals which are
compliant with the SMPTE259M standard.

Operating precautions
Important
OThis product consists of an SD card and an
interface bracket.
The EVF /F cable of the interface bracket must be
connected to the connector on the SD card before
use. f this connection is not performed, signals will
not be output from the SD card.
OWhen connecting or disconnecting a cable from any
unit, ensure that the power to that unit is turned off.
ODo not drop this product or subject it to strong
shock or vibration, as this may cause it to
malfunction.
OAvoid using the unit in very humid or dusty
locations, as this may cause it to malfunction.
OAvoid using the unit in locations where the
temperature is below freezing point or above 104°F
(40°C). Otherwise, the picture quality may
deteriorate or malfunctioning may result.

$SDI card $Interface bracket
1EVF I/F connector
The EVF /F cable 7from the interface bracket is
connected here.
f the EVF /F cable is not connected, signals will
not be output from the SD card.
2SDI OUT connector
SD signals are output from here.
3EVF connector
The viewfinder (such as the WV-VF65B or AW-
VF80) is connected here.
4EVF standby switch
ST.BY. :Places the viewfinder in standby mode.
ON :Outputs images to the viewfinder.
5Inter-communications level control
This adjusts the sound level output to the inter-
communications headset.
6Inter-communications jack,
plug type: 1/8˝ (3.5 mm)
The inter-communications headset is connected
here.
f the plug diameter does not match, use the
adjuster plug supplied with this product.

7EVF I/F cable
This is connected to the EVF /F connector 1on
the SD card.

Installing the SDI card
Before installing the SDI card:
ORelease the static carried in the body of the person
to perform the installation.
nstallation can be performed more safely if an anti-
static wrist strap is worn.
Touching the card without first releasing this static
may cause malfunctioning.
ODo not allow the metal part of the card come in
contact with any other metal parts.

Turn the power to the camera off and remove any
cables which are connected to the power
connector or other connectors.

Loosen the 4 screws on the rear panel of the
camera, then remove the panel itself.

Loosen the 2 screws on the optional card slot
cover, then remove the cover.

Align the SD card with the guides and insert it.
Ensure the card is fully inserted.

Firmly tighten the 2 screws to the optional card
slot.
f the screws are misplaced, use the extra screws
supplied with this product. (6 mm in length)

Firmly secure the rear panel with the 4 screws.
f the screws are misplaced, use the extra screws
supplied with this product. (8 mm in length)
Always ask your local dealer to install
the SDI card.

Interface bracket mountings

Mount the camera (in which the SD card has been
installed) on the interface bracket.
Fasten the fixing knob to firmly secure the camera.

Connect the EVF /F cable from the interface
bracket to the EVF /F connector on the SD card.

Attach the mounting base (supplied with the
viewfinder) to the top section of interface bracket
using the 2 screws.

Slide the viewfinder onto the mounting base and
tighten the fixing knob to secure it firmly.

Connect the viewfinder cable to the EVF connector
on the interface bracket.

Mount the interface bracket on the tripod.

$Performing the settings

Display the main menu.
When performing the settings with the
convertible camera:
Press the MENU button continuously for at least
5 seconds.
When performing the settings with the remote
control unit:
OWV-RC700A:
Set the USER SET switch to “ON.”
OWV-RC550:
Set the SET UP switch to “1” or “2.”

Select “Option Card Set” to display the submenu.
When performing the settings with the
convertible camera:
Press the MENU or TEM/AWC button to move
the flashing to the setting item, then press the
YES/ABC button to display the submenu.
When performing the settings with the remote
control unit:
Press the PAGE or TEM button to move the
flashing to the setting item, then press the UP
button to display the submenu.

Select the setting item and change the setting.
When performing the settings with the
convertible camera:
Press the MENU or TEM/AWC button to move
the flashing to the desired setting item, then
press the YES/ABC or NO/BAR button to
change the setting.
When performing the settings with the remote
control unit:
Press the PAGE or TEM button to move the
flashing to the desired setting item, then press
the UP or DOWN button to change the setting.

Return to filming mode.
When performing the settings with the
convertible camera:
Press the MENU or TEM/AWC button and
select “End” on the main menu, then press the
YES/ABC button.
When performing the settings with the remote
control unit:
OWV-RC700A:
Set the USER SET switch to “OFF.”
OWV-RC550:
Set the SET UP switch to “OFF.”
After being returned to filming mode, the
convertible camera will operate as per the changed
settings.

1Zebra Indicator
This sets the Zebra pattern display which appears
in the viewfinder.
ON :Zebra patterns are displayed in the
viewfinder.
OFF :Zebra patterns are not displayed in the
viewfinder.
<Note>
Even if ON is selected for this setting, the zebra
patterns will not be displayed in the viewfinder if
“CVBS” has been selected as the EVF Output 4
setting.
2Zebra 1 Level (70% to 109%)
Zebra 2 Level (71% to 110%)
Two types of zebra patterns are displayed to use as
a yardstick for the brightness level.
The striped zebra pattern display of Zebra 2 Level
is more dense than that of Zebra 1 Level.
<Notes>
OThese settings are available when “ON” has
been selected for the Zebra ndicator 1setting.
OThe setting for Zebra 2 Level should be set at
least 1% higher than that for Zebra 1 Level.
3Safety Zone
This selects the type of safety zone that is
displayed in the viewfinder.
f “OFF” is selected, a safety zone will not be
displayed.
<Note>
The safety zone and the center marker reflect the
electrical positions which may differ from the optical
positions.
The inner frame and the outer frame are
approximately 90% and 95%, respectively, of the
safety zone.
4EVF Output
This sets the signals to be output to the viewfinder.
Y :Brightness signals are output to the
viewfinder.
CVBS :Color signals are output to the viewfinder.
<Note>
The zebra pattern is not displayed in the viewfinder
when “CVBS” has been selected.
