Energy Star
The FP-D355/D355DC/D455/D605 series copiers comply with Tier 2 of the Environmental
Protection Agency’s Energy Star Program.This voluntary program specifies certain energy
consumption and usage standards for copiers.These copiers will automatically “power down”
after a specified period of non-use.The use of these Energy Star compliant copiers will reduce
energy consumption and ultimately benefit the environment.
The default functions can be adjusted depending on your office requirements. Please see your
authorised Panasonic copier dealer for more details.

NOTE
∗While the copier is warming up, you may position your original on the copier, enter
your copy job selections and press the Print key. The wait indicator will flash until the
warm up cycle is completed and the copy job automatically start.
CWhen making 100 copies continuously or intermittently within 20 minutes, the fan
motor will start rotation.This is not irregular operation but just to cool off the machine.
CFor FP-D455/D605, at following condition Touch Panel Display may light but it will turn
off within 40 seconds.
1. After turning off the Power switch.

■Memory capacity:
When the memory becomes full during the original scanning, the message of “Function not
available for lack of memory”will be displayed in the message display. In this case, follow the
operating instruction in the message display.
When the additional memory is required, consult with authorised dealer.

■Note on making multiple copies (For FP-D455/D605)
If the fusing temperature drops excessively during a multi-copy cycle, there is a possibility that
the copying speed will be reduced. The copying speed will automatically return to normal when
the fusing temperature rises enough to ensure good fusing performance.

Precautions
Handling
■Do not look directly at exposure lamp when copying.
■Do not turn the power switch off or open the front
panel during copying.
CDo not drop paper clips or other metal objects into
the copier.
Toner and Paper
■Store toner, developer and paper in cool areas with
low humidity.
CHigh quality paper of 60 –90 g/m2(55 –130 g/m2
via sheet bypass) may be used.
CFor optimum copy quality, it is essential that
Panasonic Brand Toner is used in the copier.
Ventilation
■The copier should be installed in a well-ventilated
area to minimize the ozone density in the air.

■The copier should not be installed in areas with the

CWhere temperature and humidity can change
rapidly, causing condensation.

CUnstable or uneven floors.
FORYOUR SAFETY
The mains plug on this equipment must be used to disconnect mains power.Please ensure that the
socket outlet is installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.
This appliance is supplied with a moulded three pin mains plug for your safety and convenience.
A 13 amp fuse is fitted in this plug.
Should the fuse need to be replaced please ensure that the replacement fuse has a rating of 13
amps and that it is approved by ASTA or BSI to BS1362
Check for the ASTA mark 7or the BSI mark 6on the body of the fuse.
If the plug contains a removable fuse cover you must ensure that it is refitted when the fuse is
replaced.
If you lose the fuse cover the plug must not be used until a replacement cover is obtained.
A replacement fuse cover can be purchased from your local Panasonic Dealer.
IFTHE FITTED MOULDED PLUG IS UNSUITABLE FORTHE SOCKET OUTLET INYOUR OFFICE
THENTHE FUSE SHOULD BE REMOVED ANDTHE PLUG CUT OFF AND DISPOSED OF SAFELY.
THERE IS A DANGER OF SEVERE ELECTRICAL SHOCK IFTHE CUT OFF PLUG IS INSERTED
INTO ANY 13 AMP SOCKET.
If a new plug is to be fitted please observe the wiring code as shown below.
If in any doubt please consult a qualified electrician.

IMPORTANT:The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:

As the colours of the wires in the main lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:
The wire which is coloured GREEN-AND-YELLOW must be connected to the terminal in the plug which
is marked by letter E or by the safety Earth symbol “L”or coloured GREEN or GREEN-AND-YELLOW.
The wire which is coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked
with the letter N or coloured BLACK.
The wire which is coloured BROWN must be connected to the terminal in
the plug which is marked with the letter L or coloured RED.
How to replace the fuse.
Open the fuse compartment with a screwdriver and replace the fuse.

∗When making copies in A4 (B) if the cassette runs out paper, the copier will
automatically select the A4R (C) cassette and rotate the image to said.
However, the function is not available if any problem occurs by the image rotation
function in the middle of copy operation. (Duplex/Original →copy, Insertion job,

When placing A4 size originals
CBenefits of QUARC (QUAlitative Reasoning based adaptive Controller).
The FP-D355/D355DC/D455/D605 series features exclusive new Panasonic imaging
technology which utilises an advanced form of artificial intelligence to ensure optimal
copy quality and performance under varying environmental conditions, from a wide
range of originals.
∗The Auto mode cannot be selected in following condition.
(1)The Photo mode is selected.
(2)The Photo mode or Text/Photo mode is selected when FA-A355 is used.
Select original size.
#Select original size with Original Size key.
Input the code number, if xappears.

CPress the Light or Dark key.
The centre setting is the normal position.

until it stops.
4#Place approximately 50 sheets of
paper.
Do not fill above
Insert the paper until it stops.
$Adjust the side guides.
Incorrect adjustment may cause paper
to wrinkle, misfeed or skew.

CThe bypass has priority over the paper trays.The copier automatically selects the
Sheet Bypass when paper is placed in the empty bypass tray.
CSome types of mailing labels and transparency film may damage your machine.
Please contact your service provider for advice regarding non-standard paper types.
CDo not feed curled paper through the bypass to avoid misfeed.
