CAUTIONS When Handling / Things to Know Before Use
●Due to the different measurement point and measurement method, power measured using this product may differ from that
given by a power conditioner, power usage readings provided by a power company or measurements taken with another device.
About the Usage Environment
●Measuring in the following situations may fall outside the range of the measurement specifications.
■Where the current is very small
■Where the current is skewed
■Where the power factor is low
■Where a strong magnetic field is present
●Do not use the device in the following situations as this will reduce its lifespan and could cause operating errors.
■Where the ambient temperature is outside the range - 10 to + 50 ℃
■Where the humidity is above 85% RH or there is condensation
■In direct sunlight
■Where there is excessive corrosive gas, dust, salt or soot
■Where there is excessive vibration or impact
■Where there is rain or water droplets
●The radio transmission range will be reduced in the following usage environments due to radio noise.
In such a case, the device may not function.
■If glass wool encased in aluminium is used as insulation in a wall between the devices.
■If the unit is attached to a metal wall.
■If radio waves are blocked by the body of the person using the unit.
■If a domestic appliance such as a microwave or computer or an OA device is within 2 m.
■If a DC device such as a bell or motor is in use close to the unit.
■If a mobile telephone or PHS phone is used close to the unit.
■If a microwave base station is used close to the unit (less than 10 m).
■If there is a strong electric field from a nearby television or radio transmitter or radio mast.
●There are points where the radio wave becomes weak even within the wireless range.
●In this product, the firmware may be updated via Home IoT Gateway to improve the functions.
When updating the firmware , about 1-2 MB of packet data is generated each time via the home internet.
(Packet data charges are paid by the customer)
●Keep the body away from the unit over 20 cm, when using this unit.
Uses for this Product
●This product is for use with the Home IoT Gateway (MKG100913) and cannot be used alone.
●Power calculations are made based on currents measured using the Current Transformers (thereafter omit to CT) and
voltages from a voltmeter connected to the device.
●This product includes a CT cable set for main line (MAIN) measurement.
Extending the CT and 2m Cable for Power Measuring Unit (MKG1510-DE, Optional item) enables voltage measurement of
Photovoltaics (PV) and storage batteries (SB).

4-2. Connecting Power Supply and CT
* Installation should be performed in accordance with this manual and the installation app (p23).
* Use a dedicated breaker (power connection breaker) to connect power to the Power Measuring Unit.
Ensure the main breaker and power connection breaker are OFF.
Installing the measuring unit to the DIN rail.
Prepare the power wire and form the wire along a path from the power connection breaker to the measuring unit.
If the power wire straddles the DIN rail, pass it through the rear.
Prepare the power connection breaker end of the power wire and connect it to the power connection breaker.
Remove 10mm of insulation from the measuring unit side of
the power wire to match the unit's strip gauge.
( Permissible power wire is solid wire 2.5 mm2)
Strip gauge
Connect power wires to the power connection terminal, as per the number of voltage phases displayed on the
measuring unit.
Power wire connection method: Push the power wire to the back of the power terminal wire aperture while a
flat-head screwdriver is inserted into the screwdriver aperture. Once the power wire is fully inserted, remove
the screwdriver to lock the power wire in position.
CAUTIONS:
●Do not insert a power wire into the screwdriver aperture.
●Use a flat-head screwdriver with tip width 2.0 to 3.5 mm.
●After connecting the power wire, check it cannot be removed by lightly tugging.
●Do not use a bent, damaged or otherwise deformed power wire.
●A damaged power wire can be trimmed.
●Inappropriate wiring may cause poor retention, poor connection or overheating.

Pass the CT cable through from the measuring unit until sufficient space is available for installation of the
main breaker CT.
Connect the CT to the three separate side of the CT cable.
●The CT has a polarity. When installing the
power wire to the CT, ensure you follow the
labelling on the CT.
●Use CT where the wire temperature is
below 50 ℃.
Install the CT on the power wire as per the number of current phases stated on the CT cable.
●Ensure that there is no branch wire between the CT
measurement point and the power grid, otherwise
accurate energy measurement will not be possible.
●The CT cannot provide accurate measurements if the
current phase installation positions differ.

Connect the other side of CT cable connector to the CT connector on
top of the measuring unit labelled MAIN, after removing the cover.
Leave the other covers as they are.

●Checking Installation
For single-phase 2 wire
For a single-phase 2 wire system, the installation process is similar to that for the 3-phase 4 wire system, but the
connection of the power and the CT differs.
Power supply connection: Connect the power wire from the single-phase 2 wire power connection breaker to the
V1-VN terminal on the measuring unit.
CT connection: Use only I1 on the CT and do not connect the other CT.
Unused CTs may be used for solar PV or a storage battery on a single phase system by purchasing a CT cable
(MKG1530-DE , Optional item).

(2) Check the phase of the breaker connected to the solar PV or battery being measured, and connect and install
install the CT to I1, I2 and I3 on the CT cable so that they connect to V1, V2 and V3 on the power wire.
(Requires separately sold CT Cable Set (MKG1510-DE , Optional item))
* When adding to an existing system, switch the main breaker and power connection breaker OFF before installing.
The diagram below shows how to combine wiring to measure multiple systems. If such connection sites are not
available, only a single system can be measured. Additionally, measurement will not be possible if the rating is
exceeded (63 A).
(1) Pass the CT cable and connect it to the CT connector labelled “PV” for measurement of a solar PV system or
the connector labelled “SB” for measurement of a storage battery system, after removing the cover.

4-3. Connecting to Home IoT Gateway
Connection of the Home IoT Gateway (MKG100913) to the Power Measuring Unit should be made according
to the app and Home IoT Gateway user manual (https://industry.panasonic.eu/energy-building/home-iot).
4-4. Removing and Exchanging
Caution: When removing and exchanging a Power Measuring Unit, be certain to switch the power connection
breaker and main breaker OFF.
3Start the measuring unit and check REGISTER LED flashes. Then, hold the SET button (3 seconds or more)
to enter Register mode. During Register mode, REGISTER LED flashes with an interval of 0.5 seconds.
*Do not press SET button during Register mode
1Check the Home IoT Gateway is available.
2Carry out the wireless registration process on the Home IoT Gateway side.
For details, see the Home IoT Gateway user manual.
Use the app to confirm that the wireless signal functions with the cover and door closed.

Use the app to confirm that the device can measure the power accurately.

4Once communication with the Home IoT Gateway is established, Register mode will end and the
RECIEVE / SEND LED light will illuminate, followed by the REGISTER LED (which will turn off after 5 min).
Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the screwdriver aperture and pull on the power wire.
Use a 2.0 to 3.5 mm flat-head screwdriver.
●Detaching the Power Supply
When replacing the Power Measuring Unit, follow the replacement of Power Measuring Unit in the app.
