tr Use This Equipment Safely
When Driving
Keep the volume level low enough to be aware of road and traffic conditions.
When Car Washing
Do not expose the equipment, including the speakers and CDs, to water or excessive moisture. This could
cause electrical shorts, fire, or other damage.
When Parked
Parking in direct sunlight can produce very high temperatures inside your vehicle. Give the interior a
chance to cool down before switching the unit on.
Use the Proper Power Supply
This equipment is designed to operate off a 12 volt, negative ground battery system (the normalsystem in
a Nofth American car.)
Protect the Tape Mechanism
Keep magnets, screwdrivers, or other metallic objects away from the tape mechanism and tape head to
prevent poor performance or malfunctions.
Use Authorized Servicenters
Do not attempt to disassemble or adjust this precision equipment. Please refer to the Servicenter list
included with this product for service assistance.
tr Do not use a demagnetizer
Under no circumstance must a demagnetizer lor analog cassette tape players be used since it may
damage the head section.
Find the model number and serial number on either the back or bottom of the unit. Please record them in
the space below and retain this booklet as a permanent record of your purchase to aid in identification in
case of theft.

Press this button to switch on the power.

Attenuator
Press ATT/LOUD to immediately decrease volume to about 1/10 of
its previous level. Press ATT/LOUD again to deactivate when listen-
ing at normal volume.

Tone Enhancement
Press and hold ATT/LOUD for more than 2 seconds to enhance bass
and treble tones when listening at low or medium volume. Press and
hold ATT/LOUD for more than 2 seconds again to deactivate when
listening at higher volumes.

Changing Audio Modes
Press SELECT to switch the audio mode in the following order.

Selecting AUX lnput Mode
Connect the auxiliary equipment (an optional poftable CD player or
any other appropriate equipment) to the RCA connectors. Press AUX
to select AUX input mode. "AUX" will be displayed. To resume other
modes, press TUNER, TAPE or CD.C.
Note:When a control mode (BAS/TRE/BAUFAd) is selected but no operation is made within 5 sec-
onds, the display will return to the normal operation (volume adjustment) mode. ln such a case,
press SELECT again to select the next control mode.

Sound Memory
With this unit's Sound Memory features, you can store your favorite bass/treble levels in two memories
(SOUND1, SOUND2) and can recall them whenever you desire.
1. Press SOUND to switch the sound mode in the following order.
Normal* SOUND1 - SOUND2

2. Setting Sound Memory
e Press SOUND to select SOUND1 (or SOUND2).
@ Press and hold SOUND for more than 2 seconds to switch the
memory mode. "SOUND1" (or "SOUND2) indicator will blink.
@ Adjust Bass and Treble by following the procedures on Page 7.
@ Rtter desired selections have been made, press SOUND to memo-
rize them in SOUND1 (or SOUND2).
o This operation should be done within 5 seconds after the desired
selections have been made. Failure to do this will cause the unit to
resume to the previous mode.
o When the memory setting has been completed, each BASS and
TRE setting will blink by twice.
Note: The following shows the initial set values of this unit.
o SOUND'I - emphasizes bass by 9 dB and treble by 6 dB.
o SOUND2 - emphasizes bass by 3 dB.
3. Reca!!ing Sound Memory
Press SOUND to select SOUND1 (or SOUND2). "SOUND1"(or
"SOUND2') indicator will light.
Most-Recent Volume Memory:
This feature will allow you to listen to the Radio, Tape, CD Changer and AUX modes at different vol-
ume levels without re-setting the volume when switching from one mode to the other.
Note: With this unit's anti-volume-blast circuit feature, the volume level previously decreased by the
ATT button will be automatically adjusted, protecting you from unexpected volume changes when
switching between sources.

Manual Tuning

Seek Tuning
Press and hold (V<<" or "A>>" for more than a half second,
then release. The radio automatically stops on the next station.
FM Optimizer
Press FMO to reduce or eliminate static noise on weak or fringe area
FM stations, .FMO" indicator will light when this function is on. To
turn it off, press FMO again.

1 Press BAND to select a desired band.
D Use manual or seek tuning to find a station that you want to pro-
gram into memory.
(3) Press and hold one of the station selector buttons 1 through 6 until
the display blinks. Beep sound confirms that the memory is now
set for that button on the band you have selected.
Repeat the process to set other stations for the FM1 to AM bands.
Note: You can change the memory setting by repeating the above
procedure.
Tuning in a Preset Station
Press any of the buttons 1 through 6 to tune in the station preset by
the above steps @ to @.
