Please read this leaflet before you use your AVENT Express IQ
team teriliser for the first time and keep it safe for future use.

The AVENT Express IQ is the first of new gener tion of
intelligent products. Using the intensive he t of ste m to kill ll
household germs, it incorpor tes n e sy to use electronic displ y
to help you sterilise your b by feeding equipment s s fely nd
quickly s possible.
As well s bottles nd bre st feeding ccessories, you c n sterilise
ny other boilable items (ple se refer to the m nuf cturer’s
instructions reg rding sterilis tion).

Hazard Warning

IQ Ste m Steriliser.
Before using your steriliser for the first time
(see diagram B and refer to the Electronic Display Guide)
Remove ll items from inside the steriliser body.
1) Using the me suring cup provided, pour in ex ctly 90ml of t p
w ter. Check the w ter does not exceed the ‘m x’ line in the
steriliser body.
2) Assemble ll the blue components (b skets, stem nd bottle
r ck). Pl ce the ssembled components in the steriliser nd
put the lid on.
3) Connect the le d into the b ck of the steriliser body nd plug
into the m ins supply.
4) Press the on/off button. The steriliser will beep nd the light
will begin to rot te.
5) After the w ter h s re ched 100˚C, it will turn to ste m nd
the numeric l countdown will begin, ltern ting between
minutes rem ining nd the rot ting light.
6) At the end of the cycle the unit will beep 5 times. Three b rs
will fl sh on the displ y, then rem in displ yed.
7) This cycle will t ke little longer bec use the steriliser is
empty. Allow the unit to cool, turn off t the m ins, unplug
nd disconnect the le d from the b ck of the steriliser.
8) Remove b skets nd bottle r ck, pour w y ny rem ining
w ter nd wipe dry.
Before each use
1) Before sterilising, wash all items in mild soapy water
and rinse.
2) Using the measuring cup provided, pour in exactly 90ml of
tap water. Check the water does not exceed the ‘max’ line
in the steriliser body.
To sterilise up to six 125ml, 260ml or 330ml AVENT
bottles
(see diagram C)
1) Using the me suring cup provided, pour in ex ctly 90ml of
t p w ter. Check the w ter does not exceed the ‘m x’ line in
the steriliser body.
2) Slide the lower b sket onto the centr l stem. Thre d 2 screw
rings onto the centr l stem. Slide the bottle r ck down the
centr l stem, with the neck f cing down, until it rests on the
top screw ring.
3) Pl ce the te ts through the centre of the holes in the bottle
r ck onto the lower b sket.
4) Thre d 4 screw rings onto the centr l stem.
5) Pl ce the 6 inverted bottles in the bottle r ck.
6) Push the upper b sket onto the centr l stem until it rests
on the c tch. Pl ce the 6 dome c ps nd tongs into the
upper b sket.
7) The upper basket is not required when sterilising 330ml
bottles.
8) Pl ce the ssembled components into the steriliser nd put
the lid on.
9) Connect the le d into the b ck of the steriliser body nd plug
into the m ins supply. Press the on/off button. The steriliser
will beep nd the light will begin to rot te.
10) After the w ter h s re ched 100˚C, it will turn to ste m nd
the numeric l countdown will begin, ltern ting between
minutes rem ining nd the rot ting light.
11) At the end of the cycle the unit will beep 5 times. Three b rs
will fl sh on the displ y, then rem in displ yed.
To remove sterilised items
(see diagram D)
1) Let the steriliser cool down for 3 minutes before removing
the lid.
2) Press the on/off button to reset the unit for next use.
3) W sh your h nds thoroughly before removing the sterilised
items.
4) Remove the lid.
5) If necess ry, sh ke excess w ter from items before ssembling.
6) The tongs c n be used to remove sm ll items nd to pull the
sterile te ts through the screw rings of the bottles.
7) If feeds re m de up fter the bottles h ve been sterilised, they
c n be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
8) The steriliser must be left to cool for at least 10 minutes
between each use.
9) After e ch use, unplug the le d, pour w y ny rem ining
w ter, rinse nd wipe dry.
10) Items will rem in sterile for 3 hours provided the lid is not
removed or opened. The three hours countdown will begin
provided the on/off button h s not been reset. After n hour
the displ y will show 2 b rs nd fter further hour 1 b r.
11) After 3 hours the steriliser will beep nd the displ y will fl sh
‘0’ until the on/off button is pressed.
To sterilise the AVENT I I Breast Pump (
see diagram E)
1) Click the ISIS bre st pump body into the slot in the upper
b sket nd rr nge the other bre st pump components s
shown. Assemble rem ining components of the ISIS Bre st
Pump in the lower b sket.
2) Up to six 125ml or 260ml bottles (not including screw rings,
teats or dome caps) c n be sterilised with the pump.
3) Add ex ctly 90ml of w ter.
4) Refer to points 8 to 11 of “To sterilise up to six AVENT bottles”.
To sterilise narrow neck bottles and other items
Te ts should be pl ced round the centr l stem in the lower
b sket nd screw rings in the top b sket, s they re too n rrow
for the stem. Alw ys ensure items re positioned within
b skets/r cks to ensure effective circul tion of ste m. The bottle
r ck nd/or upper b sket c n be removed to m ke more room.
Dishwasher Basket
(see diagram F)
1) Two b skets c n be clipped together to hold sm ll items such
s te ts, bre st pump p rts, soothers, etc for w shing in the
top rack of your dishw sher prior to sterilis tion.
2) To clip together, lign the two b skets so th t the indic tors
re opposite e ch other nd sn p the b skets together. To
open b sket, pull p rt with fingers using side recesses.
Warning: Your AVENT items may discolour over time if they
are washed in the dishwasher with dirty items covered with
remnants of strong sauces, such as tomato sauce.
Care of your steriliser
Using pre-boiled or filtered w ter in your Express IQ Ste m
Steriliser c n reduce limesc le build up. You should de-sc le
your steriliser every four weeks to ensure it continues to work
100% effectively.
EITHER:
1) Mix one s chet of citric cid (10gms) with 200ml of w ter.
Pour into the empty steriliser. Do not put the lid on. Switch
on for 1-2 minutes. Switch off t m ins nd le ve to st nd
for 30 minutes. Dr in nd rinse out the steriliser. Run full
cycle empty with the lid on, using ex ctly 90ml of w ter.
Wipe out the steriliser. Citric cid is v il ble from most
chemists – avoid contact with eyes as this may cause
irritation. Keep out of reach of children.
OR:
2) Pour 100ml vineg r mixed with 200ml cold w ter into
steriliser. Allow to st nd in the unit until ny limesc le
h s dissolved. Empty the unit nd rinse thoroughly.
Warnings
1) Do not use ble ch or chemic l sterilising solutions/
t blets in your ste m steriliser or on products to
be sterilised.
2) Do not use br sive, nti-b cteri l m teri ls or scourers
to cle n the steriliser.
3) Do not use softened w ter in the steriliser.
4) The steriliser le d is fitted with moulded plug. In the event
th t this plug is unsuit ble for the power sockets in your
home, suit ble d pter must be fitted. The d pter must
be e rthed.
