Introduction
With the InfraCare you can comfortably treat muscular problems and
relieve pain at home. Just like the sun, the appliance emits infrared light.
The special filter only passes the type of light required to achieve the
intended therapeutic effect.

Important
The symbols on the InfraCare have the following meaning:
◗Read these instructions for use carefully before using the
appliance and save them for future reference (fig. 2).
◗This appliance is double insulated according to Class II.You can
therefore safely plug it into an unearthed wall socket (fig. 3).
◗The surface marked with this symbol becomes hot (fig. 4).
◗This appliance meets the requirements of Medical Device
Directive MDD93/42/EEC.
◗Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to
the mains voltage in your home before you connect the
appliance.
◗If the wall socket used to power the appliance has poor
connections, the plug of the appliance will become hot. Make sure
you plug the appliance into a properly connected wall socket.
◗If the mains cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Philips, a
service centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualified persons
in order to avoid a hazard.
◗Do not subject the appliance to heavy shocks.
◗Water and electricity are a dangerous combination! Do not use

this appliance in wet surroundings (e.g. in the bathroom or near a
shower or swimming pool).
◗Do not let water run into the appliance or spill water onto the
appliance.
◗Do not leave the appliance unattended when it is switched on.
◗Always unplug the appliance after use and in case of a power
failure.
◗Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
◗Place the appliance on a stable, level surface and make sure there
is at least 15 cm free space around it to prevent overheating.
◗Do not suspend the appliance from a ceiling or wall.
◗Do not use the appliance at room temperatures lower than 10cC
or higher than 35cC.
◗Make sure the vents of the appliance remain open during use.
◗The appliance has been fitted with an automatic protection
against overheating. If the appliance is insufficiently cooled (e.g.
because the vents are covered), the appliance will switch off
automatically. Once the cause of overheating has been removed
and the appliance has cooled down, the appliance will switch on
again automatically.
◗Let the appliance cool down for approx. 15 minutes before
cleaning or storing it.
◗If you have just been swimming or have just taken a shower, make
sure you dry your skin properly before using this appliance.
◗Do not look into the lamp's light when it is on. Keep your eyes
closed.
◗The filter becomes very hot when the appliance is switched on.
Do not touch it!
◗Never use the appliance when the filter is damaged, broken or
missing.
◗Avoid too intense cooling of the body part immediately after
treatment.
◗Do not fall asleep during treatment.
◗Painkillers reduce the sensitivity to heat. Do not use this
appliance when you are on painkillers without having consulted
your doctor first.

◗If you are oversensitive to infrared light, you should be extra
careful when using this appliance. Consult your doctor in case of
doubt.
◗Do not use the appliance if you have a swelling or an
inflammation, as heat could aggravate the complaints. If in doubt,
consult your doctor.
◗If there is no improvement after 6-8 treatments, stop using the
appliance and consult your doctor.
Using the appliance
The effect of the InfraCare
The InfraCare produces infrared light, which penetrates deeply into the
skin.This warms the skin, dilating the blood vessels and thus stimulating
blood circulation.
The blood transports the substances necessary for rebuilding and
nourishing the body's tissues more rapidly, while at the same time
waste substances are removed more quickly.
This means treatment with the InfraCare can relieve muscular problems
and pain.
Therapeutic applications
The InfraCare is a local warmth therapy appliance.
Possible applications:
- Treatment for occasional or chronic muscle pains, stiff muscles and
stiff joints
- Treatment of lower-back ache (lumbago)
- Treatment of chilblains
- Preparation for another treatment such as a massage
- Treatment of sprains and bruises
- Treatment of common colds
- To relieve pain, e.g. due to rheumatic disorders

Preparing for use
1Fully unwind the mains cord.
2Place the appliance on a stable, level surface and make sure there
is at least 15 cm free space around it to prevent overheating
(fig. 5).
The appliance can be used in many different ways. Below you find some
examples.
◗Place the appliance on a table, tilt the lamp housing backwards
and sit down on a chair or stool with your back towards the
lamp to treat a sore shoulder or a sore neck or part of your
upper back area (fig. 6).
◗Place the appliance on a table beside a chair and sit down on a
chair or stool with your back towards the lamp to treat a lower-
back ache (fig. 7).
◗Place the appliance on a table and sit down beside it to treat a
sore elbow (fig. 8).
◗Place the appliance on the floor, tilt the lamp housing backwards
and sit down on a chair or stool to treat a sore calf (fig. 9).
◗To treat a common cold, place the appliance on a table and sit
down on a chair in front of the appliance.Tilt the lamp housing
backwards so that the beam of light is directed towards your face
(fig. 10).
3Adjust the direction of the light beam by tilting the lamp housing
forwards or backwards (fig. 11).

4Sit or lie down at the right distance from the appliance.
- At a distance of 25-30 cm to the body, the InfraCare treats an area
of about 30 cm by 20 cm (w x h). At a larger distance, the area
treated becomes larger and the infrared light and therefore the
warmth less intense. At a smaller distance, the area treated is
smaller and the infrared light and therefore the warmth more
intense.
- Make sure the distance between your body and the appliance is
large enough to prevent accidental contact with the hot filter.
- Choose a distance at which the heat is comfortable.
BPlease note that the warmth of the appliance does not reach its full
intensity until several minutes after switching the appliance on.This does
not mean, however, that the appliance is not effective during these first
minutes.
Duration of treatment
The duration of the treatment depends on the person to be treated
and the type of use.We recommend a few short treatments a day, e.g.
2 treatments of 15 minutes, on a number of consecutive days to get a
result.
BPractice has shown that a few short treatments a day produce a better
result than one longer treatment.
Always consult your doctor in case of doubt!
Using the InfraCare
1Insert the plug into a wall socket.
2Switch the appliance on by pressing the on/off button.
Cleaning
Unplug the appliance and let it cool down for about 15 minutes
before cleaning it.

Never use abrasive liquids such as scouring agents, petrol or acetone
to clean the appliance.
1Clean the lamp housing and the base with a moist cloth. Do not
let any water run into the appliance.
2You can clean the outside of the filter with a soft cloth sprinkled
with some methylated spirits.
Storage
1Unplug the appliance and let it cool down for about 15 minutes
before storing it.
◗Do not allow the cord to come into contact with the filter when
it is hot.
◗Always lift or carry the appliance by its handgrip (fig. 12).
BStore the InfraCare in a dry place.
Replacement
Filter
The infrared filter protects against exposure to undesired light. It is
therefore important to have a damaged or broken filter replaced right
away.
Lamp
The effectiveness of the lamp does not diminish in the course of time.
◗Have the lamp replaced when it stops functioning.
Have the 200W Philips infrared halogen lamp replaced by a service
centre authorised by Philips.They have the knowledge and skills
required for this job and the original spare parts for your appliance.
BThe lamp has been developed to last at least 250 operating hours.

Environment
◗Do not throw the appliance away with the normal household
waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection
point for recycling. By doing this you will help to preserve the
environment (fig. 13).
The lamp of this appliance contains substances that can be harmful to
the environment.When you discard the lamp, do not throw it away
with the normal household waste but hand it in at an official collection
point.

Solution

Mit InfraCare können Sie Muskelschmerzen undVerspannungen
bequem zu Hause behandeln.Wie das natürliche Sonnenlicht, gibt das
Gerät Infrarotlicht ab. Der Spezialfilter lässt nur das Licht durch, das für
die vorgesehene therapeutische Wirkung erforderlich ist.

Die Symbole auf dem InfraCare-Gerät haben folgende Bedeutung:
◗Lesen Sie diese Bedienungsanleitung vor dem ersten Gebrauch
des Geräts sorgfältig durch und bewahren Sie sie zur späteren
Einsichtnahme auf (Abb. 2).
◗Das Gerät ist doppelt isoliert (gemäß Klasse II). Sie können es
also auch gefahrlos an eine nicht geerdete Steckdose anschließen
(Abb. 3).
◗Die mit diesem Symbol gekennzeichnete Oberfläche wird heiß!
(Abb. 4).
◗Dieses Gerät erfüllt die Anforderungen der Richtlinie für
medizinische Geräte MDD93/42/EEC.
◗Prüfen Sie vor Inbetriebnahme des Geräts, ob die
Spannungsangabe auf dem Gerät mit der Netzspannung in Ihrem
Haus übereinstimmt.
◗Sollte die Steckdose, an die Sie das Gerät anschließen,
mangelhafteVerbindungen haben, wird der Gerätestecker heiß.
Achten Sie darauf, das Gerät an eine ordnungsgemäß verkabelte
Steckdose anzuschließen.
◗Wenn das Netzkabel defekt oder beschädigt ist, darf es nur von
einem Philips Service-Center oder einer von Philips autorisierten

um Gefährdungen zu vermeiden.
◗Schützen Sie das Gerät vor heftigen Erschütterungen.
◗Wasser und Strom sind eine gefährliche Kombination! Benutzen
Sie das Gerät nicht in feuchter Umgebung (z. B. im Badezimmer, in
der Nähe einer Dusche oder eines Schwimmbeckens).
◗Lassen Sie kein Wasser in das Gerät eindringen und verschütten
Sie kein Wasser über das Gerät.
◗Lassen Sie das Gerät nicht unbeaufsichtigt, solange es
eingeschaltet ist.
◗Ziehen Sie nach dem Gebrauch und bei einem Stromausfall
immer den Netzstecker.
◗Halten Sie das Gerät außer Reichweite von Kindern.
◗Stellen Sie das Gerät auf eine stabile, ebene Unterlage. Halten Sie
mindestens 15 cm Platz rund um das Gerät frei, um es vor
Überhitzung zu schützen.
◗Hängen Sie das Gerät nicht an der Decke oder Wand auf.
◗Verwenden Sie das Gerät nicht bei Zimmertemperaturen unter
10cC oder über 35cC.
◗Achten Sie darauf, dass die Lüftungsöffnungen am Gerät während
des Gebrauchs offen bleiben.
◗Das Gerät ist mit einem automatischen Überhitzungsschutz
ausgestattet.Wenn das Gerät nicht hinreichend gekühlt wird (z. B.
weil die Lüftungsöffnungen verdeckt sind), schaltet sich das Gerät
automatisch aus. Nachdem die Ursache der Überhitzung behoben
und das Gerät abgekühlt ist, schaltet es sich automatisch wieder
ein.
◗Lassen Sie das Gerät ca. 15 Minuten lang abkühlen, bevor Sie es
reinigen oder wegstellen.
◗Unmittelbar nach dem Schwimmen oder Duschen ist es wichtig,
dass Sie sich gründlich abtrocknen, bevor Sie das Gerät benutzen.
◗Blicken Sie nicht in die eingeschaltete Lampe. Halten Sie bei
Behandlung des Gesichts die Augen geschlossen.
◗Der Filter wird bei eingeschaltetem Gerät sehr heiß. Berühren Sie
ihn nicht!

◗Benutzen Sie das Gerät keinesfalls, wenn der Filter beschädigt
oder zerbrochen ist bzw. ganz fehlt.
◗Kühlen Sie die behandelte Körperpartie nach der Anwendung
nicht gleich zu stark.
◗Schlafen Sie während der Behandlung nicht ein.
◗Schmerzmittel reduzieren die Hitzeempfindlichkeit der Haut.
Verwenden Sie das Gerät bei gleichzeitiger Einnahme von
schmerzstillenden Mitteln nicht ohne vorherige Rücksprache mit
Ihrem Arzt.
◗Wenn Sie überempfindlich auf Infrarotlicht reagieren, sollten Sie
bei dem Gebrauch des Geräts besonders vorsichtig sein. Fragen
Sie im Zweifelsfall Ihren Arzt.
◗Benutzen Sie das Gerät nicht bei Schwellungen oder
Entzündungen, weil sich die Beschwerden durch Wärme
verschlimmern könnten. Fragen Sie im Zweifelsfall Ihren Arzt.
◗Sollte nach 6 bis 8 Anwendungen keine Linderung eingetreten
sein, brechen Sie die Behandlung ab, und suchen Sie Ihren Arzt
auf.
Benutzung des Geräts
Die Wirkung von InfraCare
InfraCare erzeugt Infrarotlicht, das tief in die Haut eindringt: Die Haut
erwärmt sich, die Blutgefäße erweitern sich und der Kreislauf wird
angeregt.
Das Blut transportiert die Aufbaustoffe, die für Regeneration und
Ernährung des Gewebes benötigt werden, schneller an die behandelte
Körperpartie. Gleichzeitig werden "Schlacken" vom Körper schneller
abgebaut.
Auf diese Weise kann die Behandlung mit InfraCare eine Linderung von
Muskelbeschwerden und Schmerzen bewirken.
Therapeutische Anwendungen
InfraCare ist ein Gerät zur gezielten Wärmebehandlung.

Vorbereitung zum Gebrauch
1Wickeln Sie das Netzkabel vollständig ab.
2Stellen Sie das Gerät auf eine stabile, ebene Unterlage. Halten Sie
mindestens 15 cm Platz rund um das Gerät frei, um es vor
Überhitzung zu schützen (Abb. 5).
Das Gerät kann auf unterschiedliche Weise angewandt werden.
Nachstehend einige Beispiele
◗Stellen Sie das Gerät auf einen Tisch und neigen Sie das
Lampengehäuse nach hinten. Setzen Sie sich mit dem Rücken zum
Gerät auf einen Stuhl oder Hocker, umVerspannungen und
Schmerzen im Schulter-, Nacken- oder oberen Rückenbereich zu
behandeln (Abb. 6).
◗Stellen Sie das Gerät auf einen Tisch neben einem Stuhl/Hocker.
Setzen Sie sich mit dem Rücken zur Lampe auf den Stuhl oder
Hocker, um den unteren Rückenbereich zu behandeln (Abb. 7).

◗Stellen Sie das Gerät auf einen Tisch und setzen Sie sich daneben,
um Beschwerden im Ellenbogenbereich zu behandeln (Abb. 8).
◗Stellen Sie das Gerät auf den Fußboden und neigen Sie das
Lampengehäuse nach hinten. Setzen Sie sich auf einen Stuhl oder
Hocker, um eine Wade zu behandeln (Abb. 9).
◗Zur Behandlung von Erkältungserscheinungen stellen Sie das
Gerät auf einen Tisch und setzen sich vor dem Gerät auf einen
Stuhl. Neigen Sie das Lampengehäuse nach hinten, damit der
Lichtstrahl auf das Gesicht gerichtet ist (Abb. 10).
3Sie können die Richtung des Lichtstrahls durch Neigung des
Lampengehäuses nach vorn oder hinten beliebig verändern (Abb.
11).
4Setzen bzw. legen Sie sich im richtigen Abstand zum Gerät hin.
- Bei einem Abstand von 25- 30 cm vom Körper behandelt InfraCare
eine Fläche von ca. 30 cm (Breite) x 20 cm (Höhe). Bei einem
größeren Abstand erweitert sich die behandelte Körperfläche,
während sich die Intensität des Infrarotlichts - und somit die
Wärmewirkung - verringert. Bei einem geringeren Abstand ist die
behandelte Fläche kleiner, und die Intensität von Infrarotlicht und
Wärme wird erhöht.
- Achten Sie darauf, dass der Abstand zwischen Körper und Gerät
groß genug ist, um versehentlichen Kontakt mit dem heißen Filter
zu vermeiden.
- Wählen Sie einen Abstand, bei dem die Wärme angenehm für Sie
ist.
BNach Einschalten des Geräts erreicht die Wärme erst nach einigen
Minuten die volle Intensität. Dies heißt aber nicht, dass das Gerät
während der ersten Minuten nicht wirkungsvoll ist.
Behandlungsdauer
Die Anwendungszeit hängt von der betreffenden Person und der Art
der Behandlung ab.Wir empfehlen mehrere kurze Sitzungen pro Tag, z.
B. 2 Behandlungen von jeweils 15 Minuten, an mehreren aufeinander
folgendenTagen.

BDie Praxis hat gezeigt, dass mehrere kurze Behandlungen zu besseren
Ergebnissen führen als eine längere.
Fragen Sie im Zweifelsfall immer Ihren Arzt!
Der Gebrauch von InfraCare
1Stecken Sie den Stecker in eine Steckdose.
2Schalten Sie das Gerät am Ein-/Ausschalter ein.
Reinigung
Ziehen Sie den Netzstecker und lassen Sie das Gerät ca. 15 Minuten
lang abkühlen, bevor Sie es reinigen.
Benutzen Sie zum Reinigen des Geräts keine aggressiven
Scheuermittel, Benzin oder Azeton.
1Reinigen Sie das Lampengehäuse und die Gerätebasis mit einem
feuchten Tuch. Lassen Sie kein Wasser in das Gerät laufen.
2Den Filter können Sie von außen mit einem weichen Tuch und ein
paar Tropfen Spiritus reinigen.
Aufbewahrung
1Ziehen Sie den Netzstecker und lassen Sie das Gerät ca. 15
Minuten lang abkühlen, bevor Sie es wegstellen.
◗Lassen Sie das Netzkabel nicht in Berührung mit dem heißen
Filter kommen.
◗Heben und tragen Sie das Gerät immer am Handgriff (Abb. 12).
BBewahren Sie das Gerät an einem trockenen Ort auf.
Ersatz und Reparatur
Filter
Der Infrarotfilter schützt vor unerwünschtem Licht. Es ist deshalb

wichtig, einen beschädigten oder zerbrochenen Filter unverzüglich
auszuwechseln.
Lampe
Die Wirksamkeit der Lampe lässt im Laufe der Zeit nicht nach.
◗Lassen Sie die Lampe auswechseln, wenn sie nicht mehr
funktioniert.
Lassen Sie die 200 W Philips Infrarot-Halogenlampe von einem Philips
Service Center auswechseln. Die dortigen Mitarbeiter verfügen über
das für den Austausch erforderliche Fachwissen und die Original-
Ersatzteile für Ihr Gerät.
BDie Lampe wurde für eine Lebensdauer von mindestens 250
Betriebsstunden konzipiert.
Umweltschutz
◗Geben Sie das Gerät am Ende der Lebensdauer nicht in den
normalen Hausmüll. Bringen Sie es zum Recycling zu einer
offiziellen Sammelstelle.Auf diese Weise helfen Sie die Umwelt zu
schonen (Abb. 13).
Die im Gerät verwendete Lampe enthält Substanzen, die
möglicherweise umweltschädlich sind.Wenn Sie die Lampe entsorgen,
werfen Sie diese nicht in den Hausmüll, sondern geben Sie sie bei einer
offiziellen Sammelstelle ab.
