1. Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the Philips SRU560 universal remote
control. After installing the remote control you can operate a maximum of
6 different devices with it:TV, DVD player/recorder, video recorder,
amplifier/receiver, CD player and SAT (settop box, satellite or cable decoder).
You can find information about how to prepare this remote control for use in
the chapter ‘Installing the remote control’.
2. Installing the remote control
Inserting the batteries
1Press the cover inwards and slide it in the
direction of the arrow.
2Place two AAA type batteries into the battery
compartment, as shown.
3Slide the cover back and click it firmly into
place.
Note: If the device indicators in the selector window (DVD, SAT,VCR, CD and AMP)
and the Standby key blink four times after every key press, the remote
control is indicating that its batteries are running low. Replace the old
batteries with two new AAA batteries.
Testing the remote control
The remote control has been programmed to operate most Philips devices.
Because the SRU560 may use different signals for each brand and even for
different models of the same brand, it is advisable to test whether your
device responds to the SRU560.The example below (TV) instructs you how
to do this.You can repeat the same steps for other devices (DVD, video
recorder, etc.) which you want to operate using the SRU560.
Example of TV:
1Turn your TV on manually or use the original remote control.
Tune to channel 1.
2Press the SELECT key to select TV.
Press the key until the Standby key lights up.
If the key does not light up, check whether the
batteries are properly inserted
(see ‘Inserting the batteries’).

3Check whether all the keys are working.
For an overview of the keys and their
functions see ‘3. Keys and functions’.
–If the TV responds as it should to all of the
key commands the SRU560 is ready for use.
•If the device does not respond at all or not to all of the
key commands, follow the instructions under
‘Setting the remote control’, or for online setup go to:
www.philips.com/urc.
Setting the remote control
This is only necessary if your device does not respond to the SRU560.
If that is the case, the SRU560 does not recognize the brand and/or model of
your device and you need to program the remote control to do so.
The example below (TV) instructs you how to do this.You can repeat the
same steps for other devices (DVD, video recorder, etc.) which you want to
operate using the SRU560.
Automatically setting the remote control
The remote control will now automatically search for the right code for your
device.
Example of TV:
1Make sure the TV is switched on and select a channel using the original
remote control or the keys on the TV (for example channel 1).
The SRU560 emits the ‘switch off TV’ signal for all models of TV that are
stored in the memory.
•If the device is a DVD-player/recorder or video recorder, insert a disk or
tape and start playback.
2Press the SELECT key to select TV.
Press the key until the Standby key lights up.
3Then keep keys 1 and 3 pressed
simultaneously for three seconds until the
Standby key flashes twice and then remains lit.
4Press and hold the Standby key
of the SRU560.
–The SRU560 now starts emitting all known
‘TV off’ signals, one by one.
Each time a code is sent, the Standby key
lights up.
5When your TV switches off (stand-by), release
the Standby key of the SRU560 immediately.

–The SRU560 has now found a code that works on your TV.
6Check if you can operate all functions on your TV with the SRU560.
•If this is not the case, you can redo the automatic setting.
The SRU560 will then search for a code that works better.
–After the SRU560 has run through all the known codes,
the search will stop automatically and the Standby key will stop flashing.
–Automatic programming of a TV takes a maximum of 5 minutes.
For DVD, CD,VCR, AMP and SAT this time is 2 minutes.
Manually setting the remote control
Example of TV:
1Turn on the TV manually or use the original remote control.
Tune in to channel 1.
2Look up the brand of your TV in the
code list at the back of this manual.
One or more four-figure codes are shown for
each brand. Note the first code.
Be careful! There are separate tables for TV,
video, DVD, etc.
On our website www.philips.com/urc you can directly select your device
typenumber to find the tight code.
Make sure you use the codes from the correct table.
3Press the SELECT key to select TV.
Press the key until the Standby key lights up.
4Keep keys 1 and 3 pressed simultaneously
for three seconds until the Standby key
flashes twice and then remains lit.
5Then enter the code noted in step 2 using the digital keys.
–The Standby key will now flash twice.
If the key flashes once for an extended period, the code has not been
entered properly or the wrong code has been entered.
Start again from step 2.
6Point the SRU560 at the TV and check that it responds as it should.
–If the TV responds to all of the key commands, the SRU560 is ready for
use. Do not forget to note your code.

•If the device does not respond at all, or not to all of the
key commands, start again from step 2 and try the next code
from the list.

control’. It is possible that you must enter another code for the
device.
4. Extra possibilities
Adjusting device selection (Mode selector)
The SRU560 is default set for operating TV,VCR, CD, DVD, SAT (settop box,
satellite or cable decoder) and AMP (amplifier).You can select the device you
wish to operate with the SELECT key (mode selector). Each option allows
operation of one device only. If desired, you can program the SELECT key
(mode selector) to select a different kind of device. For example, if you want
to operate a second TV. In the following example you will see how to
configure the DVD key for a second TV.
1Switch on the second TV.
2Press the SELECT key to select SAT.
Press the key until SAT lights up in the
selector window.
3Then keep keys 1 and 6 on the SRU560
pressed simultaneously for three seconds,
until SAT in the selector window lights up.
4Press keys 9, 9 and 2 in that order.
5Press the SELECT key to select TV.
Press the key until the light around the
Standby key lights up.

6Press the 1 key.
–SAT in the selector window flashes twice.
SAT will now allow you to operate your
second TV.
7Program the SRU560 to operate the second
TV.

Adding a function to the remote control
If you want to add a function to the SRU560, you can contact the
Philips service line for Universal Remote Control to ask for the 5-figure code
for the extra function.
Assign Volume control to another mode
The volume controls (Volume +,Volume - and s) on the SRU560
are assigned to either your TV or your amplifier/receiver, depending on the
device you have selected;

If you want a different setup, the volume control assignment can be changed.
Example: In SAT mode you want to operate the amplifier/receiver volume
control
1Press the SELECT key to select SAT.
Press the key until SAT lights up in the
selector window.
2Then keep keys 1 and 6 on the SRU560
pressed simultaneously for three seconds,
until SAT in the selector window flashes twice
and then remains lit.
3Press keys 9, 9 and 3 in that order.
4Press the SELECT key to select AMP.
Press the key until AMP lights up in the
selector window.

Restoring the original functions of your remote
control
1Keep keys 1 and 6 on the SRU560
pressed simultaneously for three seconds,
until until one of the device indicators (TV,
DVD, SAT,VCR, CD, AMP) lights up window.
2Press keys 9, 8 and 1, in that order.
– The device indicator flashes twice.
All original functions have now been restored
and any extra functions have been deleted.
5. Troubleshooting
• Problem

•The device indicators in the selector window (DVD, SAT,VCR, CD and
AMP) and the Standby key blink four times after every key press.
–The remote control is indicating that its batteries are running low. Replace the old
batteries with two new AAA batteries.
•The device you want to operate does not respond and it’s indicatior in
the selector window does not flash when you press a key.
–Replace the old batteries with two new AAA batteries.
•The device you want to operate does not respond but it’s indicatior in
the selector window does flash when a key is pressed.
–Point the SRU560 at the device and make sure that there are no
obstructions between the SRU560 and the device.
•The SRU560 does not respond properly to commands.
–Maybe you are using the wrong code.Try programming the SRU560 again
using another code, which is mentioned under the brand of your device, or
reset for automatic search to find the right code.
If the device still does not respond, call our helpline.
•The Teletext keys do not work.
– Find out whether your TV is equipped with Teletext.
•You have difficulties operating all of the functions on your device.
– Maybe the SRU560 has to be adapted to the model of the device.
Call our helpline for details.
•Your brand of device is not in the code list.
– Try to set the SRU560 automatically.
See ‘Automatically setting the remote control’.
•None of the codes works during manual setting of the remote control.
– If that is the case, follow the instructions under
‘Automatically setting the remote control’.

1. Introduzione
Congratulazioni per l’acquisto del telecomando universale SRU530.
Dopo aver installato il telecomando potete utilizzarlo per azionare fino a
6 apparecchi diversi: una TV, un lettore/registratore di DVD, un VCR,
un amplificatore/ricevitore, un lettore di CD e SAT (scatola settop,
decodificatore satellite o cable).
Nel capitolo ‘Installazione del telecomando’ troverete le informazioni
necessarie per preparare il telecomando all’uso.
2. Installazione del telecomando
Inserimento delle batterie
1Premete sul coperchio e fatelo scorrere
nella direzione della freccia.
2Inserite due batterie AAA nel vano batterie,
come illustrato.
3Slide the cover back and click it firmly into
place.
Nota: Se gli indicatori dell‘apparecchio nella finestra di selezione (DVD, SAT, VCR,
CD e AMP) e il tasto standby lampeggiano quattro volte dopo ogni volta
che si preme un tasto, il telecomando indica che le batterie si stanno
scaricando. Sostituite le batterie con due nuove del tipo AAA.
Collaudo del telecomando
Il telecomando è stato programmato per funzionare con la maggioranza degli
apparecchi Philips. Poiché l’SRU560 potrebbe utilizzare segnali differenti per
ciascuna marca e modello, è opportuno verificare se l’apparecchio risponde ai
comandi inviati dall’SRU560. L’esempio che segue (TV) descrive la procedura
per il collaudo. Potete ripetere questi passaggi per gli altri apparecchi
(DVD, videoregistratori, ecc.) che intendete controllare con l’RU560.
Procedura di esempio relativa ad un televisore:
1Accendete il televisore direttamente o tramite il suo telecomando
originale. Sintonizzate il canale 1.
2Premete il tasto SELECT per selezionare
la TV. Premete il tasto fino a quando il tasto
standby si illumina.
Se il tasto non si illumina, controllate che le
batterie siano state inserite correttamente
(vedi ‘Inserimento delle batterie’).

3Controllate se funzionano tutti i tasti.
Per una panoramica sui tasti e le relative
funzioni, consultate ‘3.Tasti e funzioni’.
–Se il TV risponde correttamente a tutti i
comandi abbinati ai tasti, l’SRU560 è pronto
per l’uso.
•Se l’apparecchio non risponde del tutto od ignora alcuni
comandi, passate alle istruzioni descritte in ‘Configurazione del
telecomando’, oppure per l’impostazione in linea andate al sito:
www.philips.com/urc.
Configurazione del telecomando
Questa procedura va svolta solo se l’apparecchio non risponde ai comandi
inviati dall’RU560. Se ciò accade significa che l’RU560 non riconosce la marca
e/o il modello dell’apparecchio ed è quindi necessario programmare il
telecomando in base alle specifiche dell’apparecchio. L’esempio che segue
(TV) descrive la procedura di configurazione. Potete ripetere questi passaggi
per gli altri apparecchi (DVD, videoregistratori, ecc.) che intendete controllare
con l’RU560.
Impostazione automatica del telecomando
Il telecomando ora effettuerà la ricerca automatica del corretto codice per il
vostro apparecchio.
Procedura di esempio relativa ad un televisore:
1Assicuratevi che il TV sia acceso e selezionate un canale mediante il suo
telecomando originale, od i tasti del pannello del televisore (ad esempio
il canale 1). L’SRU560 procederà con l’invio del segnale di ‘spegnimento
TV’ di tutti i modelli di televisore presenti nella sua memoria.
•Se l’apparecchio è un lettore di CD o un lettore/registratore di DVD o
un VCR, inserite un disco o un nastro ed iniziate la riproduzione.
2Premete il tasto SELECT per selezionare la TV.
Premete il tasto fino a quando il tasto standby
si illumina.
3Tenere i tasti 1 e 3 premuti
contemporaneamente per tre secondi fino a
quando il tasto standby lampeggia due volte e
poi rimane acceso.
4Premete e tenete premuto il
tasto standby dell’SRU560.
–L’SRU560 inizia ad inviare tutti i segnali noti
di ‘spegnimento TV’, uno alla volta.
Ogni volta che viene inviato un codice, il tasto
standby si illumina.

5Quando TV si spegne (standby), rilasciate immediatamente il tasto
standby del telecomando SRU560.
-L’SRU560 ha quindi trovato un codice adatto al vostro TV.
6Verificate se l’SRU560 è in grado di controllare tutte le funzioni del
televisore.
•Nel caso contrario, potete ripetere l’impostazione.
L’SRU560 quindi ricercherà un codice che funziona meglio.
–Quando l’SRU560 ha inviato tutti i codici noti, la ricerca si arresta
automaticamente ed il tasto standby cesserà di lampeggiare.
–La programmazione automatica di una TV impiega massimo 5 minuti.
Per DVD, CD,VCR , AMP e SAT questo impiega 2 minuti.
Impostazione manuale del telecomando
Procedura di esempio relativa ad un televisore:
1Accendete il televisore direttamente o tramite il suo telecomando
originale. Sintonizzate il canale 1.
2Individuate la marca del vostro TV nella
lista dei codici inclusa alla fine di questa guida.
Per ciascuna marca sono elencati uno o più
codici a quattro cifre.
Annotate il primo codice.
Prestate attenzione! Vi sono tabelle separate per
le varie categorie di apparecchi:TV, video, DVD, ecc.
Sul nostro sito www.philips.com/urc potete selezionare direttamente il
numero dell’apparecchio per trovare il codice giusto.
Prelevate i codici dalla tabella corretta.
3Premete il tasto SELECT per selezionare
la TV. Premete il tasto fino a quando il tasto
standby si illumina.
4Tenere i tasti 1 e 3 premuti
contemporaneamente per tre secondi fino a
quando il tasto standby lampeggia due volte e
poi rimane acceso.
5A questo punto inserite il codice annotato al punto 2, mediante i tasti
numerici.
–Il tasto standby a questo punto lampeggerà due volte.
Se il tasto lampeggia una volta per un periodo prolungato, non è stato
inserito correttamente il codice oppure si tratta di un codice errato.
Iniziare di nuova dalla operazione 2.
6Puntate l’SRU560 in direzione del TV e verificate se l’apparecchio
risponde correttamente ai comandi inviati.
–Se il TV risponde a tutti i comandi abbinati ai tasti, l’SRU560 è pronto
per l’uso. Non scordate di annotare il codice.

•Se l’apparecchio non risponde del tutto od ignora alcuni
comandi, ripetete la procedura a partire dal punto 2 inserendo il
secondo codice elencato nella lista.

4. Funzioni aggiuntive
Selezione dell’apparecchio controllato
(Selettore modalità)
L’SRU560 è stato impostato per azionare di default le modalità TV,VCR, CD,
DVD, SAT (settop box, decodificatore satellite o cable) e AMP (amplificatore).
Potete selezionare l’apparecchio che desiderate azionare con il tasto SELECT
(selettore di modalità). Ogni opzione consente l’azionamento di un solo
apparecchio. Se desiderato, potete programmare il tasto SELECT (selettore di
modalità) per selezionare un apparecchio diverso. Ad esempio, un secondo
TV. Nell’esempio seguente, viene descritto come configurare la modalità SAT
per un secondo TV.
1Accendete il secondo TV.
2Premete il tasto SELECT per selezionare SAT.
Premete il tasto fino a quando SAT si illumina
nella finestra di selezione.
3Quindi tenete i tasti 1 e 6 sull’SRU560
premuti contemporaneamente per
tre secondi fino a quando il tasto SAT
lampeggia due volte e poi rimane acceso.
4Premete i tasti 9, 9 e 2, in questo ordine.

Aggiungere una funzione al telecomando
Per aggiungere una funzione all’SRU560, contattate il servizio di assistenza
Philips per i telecomandi universali per richiedere il codice a 5 cifre riservato
alle funzioni aggiuntive.
Assegnazione del comando del volume ad un’altra
modalità
I comandi del volume (VOL +,VOL – e s) sull’SRU560 sono stati assegnati o
alla TV oppure all’amplificatore/ricevitore, a seconda dell’apparecchio che
avete selezionato.

Ripristino delle funzioni originali del telecomando
1Tenete i tasti 1 e 6 sull’SRU560 premuti
contemporaneamente per tre secondi, fino a
quando uno degli indicatori dell’apparecchio
(TV, DVD, SAT,VCR, CD, AMP) si illumina nella
finestra.
2Premete i tasti 9, 8 e 1, in questo ordine.
– L’indicatore dell’apparecchio lampeggia
due volte. Le funzioni originali sono state
ripristinate e tutte le funzioni aggiuntive sono
state eliminate.
5. Risoluzione di problemi

•Gli indicatori dell‘apparecchio nella finestra di selezione (DVD, SAT,VCR,
CD e AMP) e il tasto standby lampeggiano quattro volte dopo ogni volta
che si preme un tasto.
–Il telecomando indica che le batterie si stanno scaricando. Sostituite le vecchie
batterie con due nuove batterie AAA.
•L’apparecchio che volete azionare non risponde ed il relativo indicatore
nella finestra di selezione non lampeggia quando premete un tasto.
–Sostituite le vecchie batterie con due nuove batterie AAA.
•L’apparecchio che volete azionare non risponde ma il relativo indicatore
nella finestra di selezione lampeggia quando premete un tasto.
–Puntate l’SRU560 in direzione dell’apparecchio ed assicuratevi che non vi
siano ostacoli tra l’SRU560 e l’apparecchio.
•L’SRU560 non risponde correttamente ai comandi.
–Forse state utilizzando il codice errato. Provate a riprogrammare l’SRU560
con un altro codice, tra quelli elencati sotto alla marca del vostro
apparecchio, oppure azzerate la configurazione svolgendo la ricerca
automatica del codice corretto. Se l’apparecchio non risponde ancora ai
comando, contattate la nostra helpline.
•Itasti Teletext non funzionano.
–Verificate se il TV include la funzione Teletext.
•L’utilizzo di tutte le funzioni dell’apparecchio è difficoltoso.
–Probabilmente è necessario adattare l’SRU560 al modello dell’apparecchio.

1. Introducción
Enhorabuena por la adquisición del mando a distancia universal Philips
SRU560. Después de instalar el mando a distancia puede controlar un
máximo de 6 dispositivos diferentes con él:TV, reproductor/grabador de
DVD, videograbador, amplificador/receptor, reproductor de CD y SAT (settop
box, decodificador de satélite o cable). Para obtener más información sobre la
configuración de este mando a distancia, consulte el capítulo ‘Instalación del
mando a distancia’.
2. Instalación del mando a distancia
Inserción de las pilas
1Empuje la cubierta hacia dentro desplazándola
en la dirección de la flecha .
2Coloque dos pilas de tipo AAA en el
compartimiento de las pilas, tal como se
muestra.
3Vuelva a introducir la cubierta hasta que haga
clic y esté bien encajada.
Nota: Si los indicadores de dispositivo en la ventana de selección (DVD, SAT,VCR,
CD y AMP) y la tecla de espera parpadean cuatro veces después de cada
pulsación de tecla, el mando a distancia indica que la pila se está
agotando. Cambie las pilas viejas por dos pilas nuevas tipo AAA.
Verificación del mando a distancia
El mando a distancia está programado para que funcione con la mayoría de
dispositivos Philips. Como el modelo SRU560 puede utilizar diferentes señales
para cada marca e incluso para modelos diferentes de la misma marca, se
recomienda que verifique si el dispositivo responde al mando SRU560.
En el ejemplo siguiente (TV) se explica cómo realizar esta verificación.
Repita el mismo procedimiento para otros dispositivos (DVD, grabadora de
vídeo, etc.) con los que desee utilizar el mando a distancia RU560.
Ejemplo de TV:
1Encienda el televisor manualmente o utilice el mando a distancia
original. Sintonice el canal 1.
