Introduction
2.1 Introduction
This manual describes the Photonfocus MV0 Python 3D06 series cameras that have a Gigbit
Ethernet (GigE) interface. The cameras contain PYTHON1300, PYTHON2000 and PYTHON5000
from ON Semiconductor.
2.2 Camera Naming Convention
The naming convention of the MV0 Python camera series is summarized in Fig. 2.1.

Prefix1 Camera platform and usage prefix. The following prefix are available for this camera
series: MV0 with form factor 30x30.
Prefix2 Camera family specifier. The following specifiers are used in this manual: "D": digital
standard area scan cameras.
Sensor width Width of image sensor of the camera.
Sensor Manufacturer Sensor manufacturer. "O": ON Semiconductor
Sensor Family Sensor family of the prior indicated manufacturer. "01": Python series
3D coordinate data format Available 3D coordinate data formats are: "3D06": integer part 12
digits, fractional part 4 digits (see also Section 11.5.6).
Camera speed The camera speed is usually the product of the camera interface clock in MHz
and the number of parallel interface channels (taps).
Interface type Interface type specification: "CL": CameraLink®, "G2": Gigabit Ethernet
(GigEVision), "U3": USB3 (USB3 Vision).

Product Specification
3.1 Introduction
The Photonfocus MV0 Python GigE camera series is built around the CMOS image sensors
PYTHON1300, PYTHON2000 and PYTHON5000 from ON Semiconductor. They provide a
resolution of 1280 x 1024 (PYTHON1300), 1984 x 1264 (PYTHON2000) and 2592 x 2048
(PYTHON5000) pixels. The camera series is optimized for low light conditions. The cameras are
aimed at standard applications in industrial image processing where high sensitivity and high
frame rates are required.
The principal advantages are:
• Up to 7968 (PYTHON2000)/6746 (PYTHON1300) profiles/s @ 640 x 11 resolution
• Choice of two laser line detection algorithms, LineFinder or Center of Gravity (COG)
• High reliability and accuracy of 3D reconstruction, due to the non-linear interpolation
technique used in the LineFinder detection algorithm
• Higher accuracy detection of symmetrical profiles with the COG algorithm
• Laser line detection with up to 1/16 sub pixel accuracy
• Gigabit Ethernet interface with GigE Vision and GenICam compliance
• Combined 2D/3D applications can be realized in the 2D/3D mode of the camera (at a
reduced frame rate)
• Global shutter
• Image sensor with high sensitivity
• Region of interest (ROI) freely selectable in x and y direction
• Column Fixed Pattern Noise Correction for improved image quality.
• I/O capabilities: 2 isolated trigger inputs and 1 isolated output
• A/B shaft encoder interface
• The rugged housing at a compact size of 30 x 30 x 54.2 mm3makes the Photonfocus MV0
Python 3D06 GigE camera series the perfect solution for applications in which space is at a
premium.
• Free GUI available (PF 3D Suite) for an easy system set up and visualisation of 3D scans
The basic components for 3D imaging consist of a laser line and a high speed CMOS camera in
a triangular arrangement to capture images (profiles) from objects that are moved on a
conveyor belt or in a similar setup (see Fig. 3.1 and Section 11.5.2).
